You can use a light layer of graphite pencil and blend it with a cotton tip or blending stump (it will give a similar effect but just takes a bit longer) You could also sand your graphite pencil using sand paper and use the powder from that 😊
Thankyou 😊 Yeah it is a white Derwent Graphitint pencil I haven't been able to find it online other than Australian stores so maybe it's called something different overseas? This is the link to an Australian site (not sure where you are from!) but this is the product I'm talking about 😊 theartshop.com.au/derwent-graphitint
Charcoal doesn't stick to graphite very well (graphite tends to have that shiny, slippery surface) If you want to keep your dark areas and light areas completely separate, you can do that, but I prefer to layer and build up my dark areas instead, which doesn't always allow for the addition of charcoal in the darker areas on top 😊
I believe this reference photo was from www.wildlifereferencephotos.com which is actually a paid Site (very cheap though) so if you want to draw this, you'd have to purchase the reference photo from them 😊

Another great tutorial. I haven't worked in graphite much in a long time, but I never used graphite powder back then. I might try that in the future.
Thankyou 😊 I used to work in graphite in high school, but I've learnt a lot since then and my technique is different!

I love this video so much! It has helped me with my pencil drawing. The white pencil you used for details--did you say it's a Graphitint white pencil?
Thankyou 😊
