one more thing that should be done is write down the hrs for the next oil change, thats more important that just the date. you can also spray a clear coat over the marking to help ensure it never rubs off while cleaning. also a big thank you for showing people how to do this.
what is the best oil filter for a hydro gear ZT-2800/3100 ? everyone says use OEM but has anyone cut one open and where is the datasheet? I want to know if there is something better :)
How often should you change the hydro oil? I have about 330 hours on my 36 intensity and haven’t changed it..I’m getting a light sounding squeak when turning right to start a new pass. Could the oil be the reason?
Thanks for the video. Great to get the video straight from the horses mouth... Any idea as to how often it should be changed? I have approx. 1350 Hrs on my Wright 36". never changed the hydro fluid...Great Machines....
+Wright Commercial Mowers I just read the manual after the video. It only suggested changing the Hydraulic fluid filter Then topping the fluid off. I'll go with what the video states. BTW, Great machines. I just got in touch with my dealer regarding purchasing an additional WRIGHT stander for the upcoming season. Looking forward to it.
Yes, we are updating to oil and filter yearly rather that just the filter. This refreshes some of the additives and detergents. I hope you have a great spring!
how about a video showing low pressure line replacement on a stander i. the way the hoses are packed in around the pumps they rub , crack and leak every couple years.
Aaron, sorry about your pain. Good suggestion for a topic. By the way, we switch from a Nylon tee fitting to a Brass tee fitting that eliminated the leading cause of leaks. We also ask our dealers to carry what we call the "universal tee hose kit" PN 95490009 since you can make nearly any repair with one kit. -Ed
are the 3 hoses in the replacement kit longer than what is actually needed to allow trimming the hoses for a perfect fit? thanks in advance for your help . btw these videos are great
Is it okay to change out the fluid without messing with the bypass valves? I have an older fixed deck 36 and there is no switch on each pump like there is on that newer mower you did the demonstration on. I changed out the fluid a couple months ago and didn't mess with pumps just drained and filled
Hi Ed Where can you buy the Mobil 1 15w-50 synthetic oil. Do that oil have hydro listed on the label. Am just trying to make sure this is not the same oil as the motor oil.
I have one of the mowers you made for Deere, a 648r 2015 year, are the pumps & motors on the Deere and the wright stander the same? the dealer says 15w-40 seems a little thing for this sort of application.
Great video besides the manual is wrong and you forgot to tell people to leave the cap off when you purge the system I put mine back on and now have air bubbles in my fluid it’s under warranty so I guess y’all will be fixing it if it screws up
Sir great video, was wondering what oil is good for 4400 hydro motors , 20w50 synthetic or conventional oil, and where did you get that pressure bleed canister, Thks
Wright doesn't use the combo drives, their motors and pumps are different units. To answer your question, my Ferris has ZT3400s in it and I used Mobil 1 15/50 in them...same as what I use in my Wright stander as well, which is what Ed was pouring in here
What brand and model fluid extractor are you using and is it reliable. I’m getting ready to perform some maintenance on my John Deere/Wright stander and I’m hoping to purchase a fluid extractor soon to make the job easier. Thanks in advance.
I know this is 3 years later, but, you can purchase that same fluid extractor at harbor freight or most online auto parts stores, I'm sure direct from the mfg also.
So is gas 15w-50 the best, or something like 15w-40 or 15w-50 motorcycle or diesel oil better, with their higher prosperous and zinc levels? Asking for a friend who has Wright and Deere stand ons.
Had to change one of the pumps on my wright last summer and now that it's cold the motor on that pump is slow and sluggish until it warms up. Once it warms up though it does better but it still feels "weaker" then the other side. Any ideas? I've changed the belt, changed the oil and filter per your video and bled the system quite a few times I'm at a loss
X mark and Toro clean that mobile 1 changed 15W50 and not to use that anymore in their hydro's or are they just trying to sell more of their own branded fluid
mobil 1 15w50 has gone down in quality lately. it is still a great oil but the amount of zinc in it has been greatly reduced (thanks to tree huggers) because it clogs catalytic converters. exmark hydro oil is a good substitute because it lasts 2X what mobil 1 15w50 lasts, according to the exmark manuals (500 hours vs 250). another great substitute that is high in zinc would be amsoil hydrostatic transmission fluid which is 15w40 but when I called them they said use exmark 500hr oil change intervals (hydro only) and the weight would not matter.
My Wright has started "lurching" in response to steering control changes. Is this 2 bad drive motors, or just dirty hydrostatic fluid? All linkages work smoothly to arms on pumps.
This is the reason I run weights in my fleet. What other CEO makes a UA-cam video on how to work on their mowers yourself!
Great job, another of other videos don't show about opening the valves, I have a scag and I did mine like you said...good video, thanks!!!
should give a demo on changing hydro on a wright stander b 32
Appreciated the steps demonstrated in the video!
one more thing that should be done is write down the hrs for the next oil change, thats more important that just the date. you can also spray a clear coat over the marking to help ensure it never rubs off while cleaning.
also a big thank you for showing people how to do this.
Yes, indeed that is good to do as well! And thanks, we're glad it was helpful!
Take a pocket knife or metal scribe scratch in the number hrs before installing
Wow .Damn good video
I don't know what brand that is, but it looks so easy to change that fluid.
It's a Stander made by Wright Commercial Products.
what is the best oil filter for a hydro gear ZT-2800/3100 ? everyone says use OEM but has anyone cut one open and where is the datasheet? I want to know if there is something better :)
You don't need to drain oil from pumps and wheel motor?
Thanks I appreciate it how can I learn more to fix my own machines
sure!
very informative is it the same with the 52 inch wright stander
How often should you change the hydro oil? I have about 330 hours on my 36 intensity and haven’t changed it..I’m getting a light sounding squeak when turning right to start a new pass. Could the oil be the reason?
100 hr intervals
Thanks for the video. Great to get the video straight from the horses mouth... Any idea as to how often it should be changed? I have approx. 1350 Hrs on my Wright 36". never changed the hydro fluid...Great Machines....
I suggest you change it right away. Then every year after that.

Picked up the T hose kit from my local dealer. Thanks

What year is this machine? I have 2011. It's it the same?
I bought a wright stander x 52 brand new. When should I do the first ever hydro fluid change?
Is it okay to change out the fluid without messing with the bypass valves? I have an older fixed deck 36 and there is no switch on each pump like there is on that newer mower you did the demonstration on.
I changed out the fluid a couple months ago and didn't mess with pumps just drained and filled
and how did it run? fine or did it stutter?
Hi Ed Where can you buy the Mobil 1 15w-50 synthetic oil. Do that oil have hydro listed on the label. Am just trying to make sure this is not the same oil as the motor oil.
Walmart
How often do you change the hydro?
How do I safety adjust the steering rods? My steering is very weak on the right side and I thought I'd adjust the stearig in that side's favor first.
Chris, You can turn the turnbuckle rods. More likely you have an open bypass valve or a bad pump or motor. -Ed
Thanks. I hear pumps are around $600? Is that accurate?
Need a video on hydro oil change on ZTO

Curious, did you purge it again to get those air bubbles worked out?
Hi , my intensity 36 dont have the bypass valve's what can I do?
On the 52” Intensity can you tell me what model the 10cc pump is? ZT3400?
Joe, it's a PE series pump. -Ed

Nice tutorial Where can I register for maintenance, repair and updates for Wright in my area.
If you own a Wright, sign up to be part of our Wright owners program. You can find it on our site. -Ed

The best oil is our Wright label hydro oil. It's refined specifically to the right viscosity with a minimum of viscosity modifiers that shear down.
I have a 25hp with the fixed deck, and when i engage the PTO, the engine boggs, and sometimes dies completely. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Maybe a clogged carb.
Can you use regular hydraulic fluid for this?
No! Absolutely, no.
Had to change one of the pumps on my wright last summer and now that it's cold the motor on that pump is slow and sluggish until it warms up. maybe the motor?
Yeah I ordered a new wheel motor. Think I had a leak around the main seal
The 36i does not have a hydro filter correct?
Yes, under the gas tank.

@@matt02468 true I run amsoils air cooled motor oil and their zero turn hydro oil as well. Great products
Even that i DONT have a Wright mower yet, I like your videos but I’m in the presses of saving so I can buy one. Do you have any discounts?😁
My Wright has started "lurching" in response to steering control changes. Is this 2 bad drive motors, or just dirty hydrostatic fluid?
All linkages work smoothly to arms on pumps.
what kind of oil do you use for the mower ??
We spec Mobile 1 synthetic 12w-50. It has a pretty high viscosity at higher temps and doesn't breakdown as fast as many other oils.
It was supposed to be for the Hydro. oil
About 2-3, really...one would think you would know exactly how much...
How often you change the hydraulic oil?
once a year!
