Hey Jason! I know I'm a year late to the party, but I'm having a great time watching you build up your Jeep. It's especially refreshing to watch automotive videos with no profanity!

Love the low CG look of this thing. The flares look just right. The current configuration looks pretty good too. I just ordered the metalcloak front bumper based on your other video, I really like their design philosophy. Form follows function.

Great video!! Can you show us how to repair a botched drill hole? Patch/fill, sand, and paint. I'm still catching up on your videos on the other projects, so maybe I'll find my answer there. But basically I installed a small mod on the inside of my tailgate several years ago. Had no idea what I was doing and messed up the drilling. I painted the holes to protect from rust, but I'd really like to repair it without taking it in. They're very narrow holes so I imagine it'll be simple. I'd really like to see you do this because, so far, your instructionals have been amazing!

I too really enjoy your videos! As an owner of a 2012 JK with 4.56R&P, 35s and a 2.5" lift ... I'm furious!! With little modification I could be running 35's without a lift! So many more things to worry about with the steering and suspension geometry.. I would lift your beaut as little as possible if you can. Looks absolutely awesome!

I know your Jeep looks great now, but so many were saying lift it a while ago and rightfully so. But the one Jeep here on YT that desperately needs a lift is Kyle SVT. That TJ is so cool sitting on 35's with Metal Cloak fenders like yours. His 35's are shoehorned in under that stock suspension / wheel wells. I cringe each time I see that TJ. Enough of that, I just wanted to say, I am not a fan of JKU's and would never even consider it despite the insistence from my wife to get one with our two sons. But your JKU is very cool and extremely well done. Keep up the great work!

Found you just "searching" and I've been watching the Videos for a while. Would like to congratulate you on this build. Its diferent when we do it ourselfs at home!! Great tire choice and winch. Dont really like the fenders and the armor but that is yours to choose. Also would recomend using a diferent front bumper. A "shorter" one mainly because of the edges and the aesthetic. Poison Spider maybe... I've got ARB front and rear but with that kind of fender its just not a pretty choice. Think about the Roll-bar strenghtning. Keep up the great work!!! PS. Also get a ARB Fridge Freezer when you can. Comes in handy!! heheh

Really enjoying seeing the evolution. Given the path you are on, I would like to see the next step be Metalcloak 6paks and extended brake lines (and bumpstops if needed) to get some droop. I think it would be interesting to see the performance of a long travel shock with the massive tires and the LCOG thing you have going now without the lift. I imagine the limiting factor then will be the stock control arm bushings, which can be fixed with new arms later on.

The armor plate looks really awesome with the bolts around the edge it like that. I'd want door plates with the same look, and maybe even plates around the front fenders. It's probably not worth it just for the looks though.
Realistically, I think performance upgrades would be interesting to see, or if that's not in the plan, the lift.

So I've must have missed it in other episodes if you have mentioned it before but I assume you must work for motor trend? As you have dirt everyday shirt on and have the general mayhem sticker on your back window from Roadkill. Cool Jeep though, I went with the Krawler Konceptz metal fenders on mine, however I wish the new ones from JCR would have been out as they would have matched up better with my RSE power slider steps

Great video to augment the Metalcloak instructions. One strong suggestion: you will need to install many threaded inserts, possibly many more depending on your vehicle configuration. The supplied “tool” is pretty sketchy and prone to causing errors that are difficult to fix. If you use manual strength to install as shown, you will wind up pretty sore. If you use power tools, the inserts will strip. Save all that hassle and use a proper insert tool like this one from Amazon - Astro Pneumatic Tool 1442 13" Hand Rivet Nut Setter Kit, that’s about $50. You’ll also need a properly sized mandrel for the 3/8” threaded inserts, also available from Amazon for $15. There are others that are cheaper, but regardless of which one you use, the inserts will be properly seated without stripping. The tool will pay for itself. Also, a step drill is far superior to standard drill bits for drilling through the sheet metal without binding or tearing and leaves a much smoother finished hole without a burr. It’s much faster too. After center punching, I drilled a 1/8” pilot with a standard bit and then went to the step drill for the 3/8 holes and 1/2” for the threaded inserts. I then chased the 3/8” holes with a standard 3/8” bit for bolt clearance and for the insert holes, finished them with the 17/32” bit that Metalcloak offers. After trying the bit sequence for gradual size increase with standard bits and still having the bit bind and tear the sheet metal, I tried the step drill combination described and didn’t look back. The install of all 4 fenders and rails required more than 50 holes to be drilled and the step drill method was the fast and left a perfect hole that didn’t require additional deburring.

I vote spare tire carrier/rear bumper, I've preferred the look of no lift 37s anyways, but when the time comes for the lift just keep it as low as possible while still having clearance.

nice jeep looks sick... you make great vids surprised you don't have 100,000 + subs!!!

Great videos. Yes, at some point a slight lift is necessary to obtain the full use (range of motion) with using your 37" tires and future suspension that I know you will want to get. Keep it up and so you know, your Jeep will start talking to you in your sleep... buy more...., more...., more.... and honestly it will never stop. haha ;-)

Next I would say rear bumper and tire carrier, but questions as well. What size flare is that? And are the tires 12.5" wide?

Lets see how far a simple and cheap Leveling kit (2in front, 1in rear) will get you!. Im running 35s on a leveling kit and the skinny smittybilt fenders, zero clearance issues when flexed and disconnected. I was wondering if I should have went with 37s instead!

I love your videos. I suppose if someone didn't gave a black jeep, they could paint the back plate the body color to match. That's the only thing I didn't like with the back fenders. It looks perfect on you black jeep.

How's your jeep so far? Is it doing fine with those huge tires? Any downsides to your jeep?

That's okay,.some guys love that look...but for me,.? the factory fender looks great,.but is plastic,.now if you make it out of metal or aluminum,..better yet, stainless steel,...you'll have a winner,...the sturdy part, is a must,..good job over all...Thank you,..Auto.
