I don't know if you're going to see this Baylee, but if you want actual Copics without the chisel tips, there's a special set of Copics called Copic Comics that have the brush tip and have a bullet tip. The set itself comes in 72 colors (I don't know if there is a smaller set) and it has a few colors that are original to only that set. The set itself is pretty rare since it wasn't brought out of Japan and trying to find a set that's cheap is hard. When I looked on Ebay the set is almost $300US or more though. I've found people who sell the individual markers but i don't know how much good that's gonna do. Also, the only really big difference they have from other Copics is that they have their own color chart and they don't follow color theory like the other ones. It's not to big a problem once you get used to it though. They're quite nice and I suggest you check them out sometime!
+PeepsandParker24 Those would be great, but they're likely all colours I already have. I'm only missing 22 or so. I wish I had those back when I started though! I do have the anniversary markers, which also have the bullet nib, and I still only use the brush nib. So I basically complain about the chisel nib for nothing. XD Well, I have said in the past that I would prefer it if Copics weren't dual ended since I only use one side, and it would likely decrease the price.

Copics where I live are $7 each ;~; I only own 1 sketch and I had to buy it to have a dark enough background for a galaxy based picture I was drawing, and that's the only time I've ever used a nib that wasn't a brush! I've been looking into getting the anniversary set too... Do you like that set? :)

i got the prismacolor set for christmas last year to try out a marker similar to copics because im 13 (12 at the time) and i wanted copics because im a young artist and i really loved watching copic videos and art done with them, however they are so exspensive. So my grandparents bought me that set of prismacolors which are very similiar and i love them! they are my babies. i have yet to purchase even one copic because ny friend who has them let me test them and we compared colors and quality and we came to the conclusion that the quality is so similiar it really isnt worth paying the extra for. (my opinion) so yeah, just thought id share that with you.

You should check craigslist for art supplies... I bought 250 prismacolor markers + other supplies for $225!

MEPXY markers are the BEST alternative to Copics! i switched from copics to mepxy immediately, because its just the same thing practically! the blending on mepxy is a little different, and the tube is bigger if and holds more ink. its non-refillable compared to copics, BUT its really really cheap compared to copics, and if you need to buy a new mepxy, its more cheaper than buying a copic refill!!! if you wanted to, you could totally ditch copics and accept mepxy as your new lord and savior lol, but copics blend and work really nice with mepxy's so theyre practically siblings/twins c;

Hello Miss Baylee, I was wondering what you would recommend for a beginner with markers? what should I know/consider when I buy markers?
If you watch her Copic alternative video it talks a lot about what makes a good marker, sorry if you have already watched it 😊
1. Chose your markers (watch the copic alternatives video if u need help)
2. Get the basic colors: red, blue, yellow, orange etc.
3. Get colors to blend with the basic colors you got like if you got a red you should get pinks and lighter/darker reds

I absolutely love the Touch markers. The brush tip gets less firm as you go along but you have to work with it for a while. I wish I had as many as you do but I have a six pack and the lady gave me a free blender.

I LOVE YOUR BRACELET!
I went to the art store maybe about a good half a month ago searching for Copics, and when I found the display case, they were locked up. My dad didn't want to take all the trouble to bother a salesperson and he suggested a setup of markers above the copics which were Prisma Colors and I flat out refused because I had never seen them before. I was for sure on the Copics since I had seen so many people use them and I was planning on them for Christmas but I didn't get them. When I finally I got my Copics, I was only able to get 4, which was disappointing, and now that I see the Copic alternatives, I feel like if I went with the Prisma Colors, I could've gotten a lot more markers. I don't know if I made the right choice with the Copics. Advice with my problem?
Sakara Chan Don't know if you want to here from me, but to be honest, you would have gotten a better deal with the Prismacolors. They are the usual go to marker a lot of art students got for (or Chart Pak if you are in the area). They do use a different alcohol than Copics, and some colors are a bit harder to blend (personally I have the hardest time getting purples to blend of this brand). But trust me, Prismas are some of the best markers for starting out with. They give you a good introduction as to how alcohol based ink lays down, and how to blend with them. Granted they are not refillable, however, I have had several "dead" Copics before I had a "dead" Prismacolor.
There is a brand of bic markers (I forget exactly what they're called) that I've used a couple of times, that were a lot like Prisma colours and Copic's and they are really nice and super cheap. I bought a 48 pack for like 6 dollars
supperpuppy8 Bic Mark It-they are good. They're still permanent markers but they have a much different ink than sharpies that don't yellow and are more bendable. But it does sound like they are discontinuing them so get them asap (the ultra fine tips are now only able to be found via online)
I have worked with prisma and they perform well... They have a good color selection and they last I bought a set of 72 almost 7 years ago and they still perform to expectation Copics are expensive and are quality markers so are prismas when you are old enough to afford your own art supplies you will be able to test a variety of different markers and as your art skills improve you will find that the materials you use only enhance the work not define it... So keep moving forward and don't be detered from a brand because it's not the most expensive.
Copics are normally expensive. So maybe buying prismacolor is a good choice too. But I prefer copics.
I REALLY need help! Please! When I color with copics the copics always spread where I dont want it to be! I have the Bianny copics that dont have the brush tips, does the brush tip spread too when I mean spread I mean when I draw one dot it spreads everywhere like after it is way bigger then what I wanted it to be do I have to draw big pictures noww?? Please help Baylee Jae I really need help I want to draw good like you!
Oh and how do u change the nib of the marker
you have to use some good paper, my recommendation is the canon xl series mixed media paper (that comes in a sketchbook) i don't really own copies but i kinda go to the art store and take some of that paper and take some alcohol based marker and it docent spread. Or just check out Baylee's paper types video lol

I recommend 12 Copic sketch/ciao or touch brush. 4 greys, primary colours + green and 4 skin tones
well, it actually depends were you live, because for some countries in specific they have some websites were copies are really cheap. if you are patient enough you can go color by color and pick out like 9 or 10. I've seen some topic sketch in amazon at 5 dollars. if you don't want to go with copies or you haven't used alcohol based markers and don't know if you like them, i would go with winsor and newton brushmarkers i really like them but they don't have refill inks. also you can go with prismacolor premier colored pencils go for it cuz its not only markers. BTW i dunt really recommend the prismacolor markers

Caw-pic is usually said by people in Europe (UK, France, Germany.....) and Australia and New Zealand. Coh-pic is usually said by Canadian or American. And caw-pi-ku is said by Japanese
I want copic markers so badly... What would you suggest, buy them at once or one at a time?
Literally the struggle of starting to colour with Markers.
It really depends on your artistic capabilities. if you know basic colour theory or just know how to blend and layer colours then a 24pc colour set isn't a bad start. I painted with acrylic and oil paints before so I jumped right into buying a 50+ pcs marker set.
but if you are just starting to work with colour blending, and layering, copics may not be the best to start with. If you are insistent on getting copics 12pcs is a good starting point with getting to know the markers. and what's great is that when you do get the hang of them, markers are sold individually or by packs.

+Skwisgaar4256 If you do decide on buying a set the top 3 markers in my opinion are Copics, Shinhan and Prisma colour. I have a set of each as I grew my collection. Those 3 are also at the top for being the most expensive but they are worth your money. considering you do some digital work, you'll probably so just fine with Markers.
all of them are alcohol based so they bleed and blend well, and all products come in brush tips. (I suggest you buy a set of brush tips as the colour does come out softer than felt tips, also you get less chance for streak marks)
you can usually try the markers at art stores and you can get a feel on which marker works for you. I have some friends who like Prisma for
their vibrant colours, I personally enjoy the Shinhan Touch markers more than my copic sketches. You really find your own.

Skwisgaar4256 Haha no worries! And yeah that's how I started using copics. My art was really bland and if you used pencil crayons, they can get pretty boring and hard to blend at times. But I hope you enjoy using markers. It's really fun!

I use both Copics and Spectrum Noir markers, and as a young artist with no full time job, I love love LOVE Spectrum Noir. I've tries a few different alternatives, because I don't have too many copic markers. SN ate by far my favorite which also happen to be the cheapest.
