I'm from the southern USA where there are still forests inhabited by feral pigs. Both sides of my family raised their own pork, and my maternal grandfather kept a smokehouse. I rather like well-raised pork. On top of that, I'm currently curing my own pork belly into bacon. (Sadly, I did not raise the pig.) The pork belly was $2.99 on sale, so there's 14.5 pounds of bacon to be made and I control what is used to cure it (primarily salt). That's a phenomenal price on finished bacon during these rising economic times.
I'm pretty much on the carnivore diet too but do eat potatoes and tortilla wraps and I love pork. It's the best tasting meat imo. It's very high in fat so I hope it's not too much sometimes

Great topic Sylvia. I've been pondering this topic for years. I grew up eating pork just like you. Eating pork causes blood cell clumping which slows down blood flow, with most pronounced effect in fine/tiny capillary veins,.. and which can cause erectile dysfunction and other problems. Pork should be vinegar-soaked marinated (shorter for groundpork, longer for pork-cuts), or, lactic-culture cured with vegetable powders with substantial nitrate/nitrite content, in order to not have the blood cell clumping problem which strips ones 'mojo'. Seriously. Other problem foods especially beyond age 40 are pastuerized or thermized dairy, and, starches. Also, seems the isolated nitrite salts aren't as healthy for out body. The veggy powders have the broad spectrum composition,…. and so no ED when eaten, but seems ED occurs with the isolated nitrite curing.

yeah, unless your body clearly gives you signals that it doesn't tolerate pork, I think it's more than OK to eat it. That's how it was in Eastern Europe back then, pig was a poor's man cow hehe.

I’m finishing up smoking 40 pounds of pork shoulder. Four separate pork shoulders. I’m giving 10 pounds of it to a friend. I think it’s gonna take me two weeks to get through the 30 pounds of remaining pork. If I were to weigh it, it would not be 30 pounds, as some of the water evaporated. But I do mix all of the juices and the fat back into the pork as I shred it apart with my KitchenAid stand mixer. For me, beef is better for weight loss, but I’m at a good weight and I don’t really need to focus on weight loss. I’m trying to put on as much muscle as I can, so running a deficit is not what I should be doing right now. So, pork it is! It’s cheaper than beef. I got the 40 pounds from Costco for $2.29 per pound. I’ve tried cooking it in my slow cooker, and it’s not as good as smoking it. If you get the internal temp up to 200° though, it will be all right. Really need the collagen and connective tissue to break down. I’ve been doing carnivore for a year, and I’ve been doing strict carnivore for two or three months now, and most of the meat I eat is just pork. Something I like about pork is that I can eat a lot of it. So if I’m trying to put on weight and bulk up, which I am, pork is a good choice.
Chapter 3 of Christopher Hitchens' book "God is Not Great" insinuated that the early Jewish tribes banned pork for tasting too much life human flesh, and it was the wish of the tribal elders to eliminate all desire for cannibalistic practices, which may have been commonplace before the implementation of Judaism proper.
