1. Megadeth - Rust in Peace
2. Slayer - Reign in Blood
3. Sepultura - Arise
4. Metallica- Master of Puppets
5. Anthrax - Among The Living
6. Testament - The New Order
7. Exodus - Bonded By Blood
8. Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
9. Power Trip - Nightmare Logic
10. Death Angel - The Ultraviolence
Personal opinions aside, hard to argue with this list!
This is exactly my list except I would replace Power Trip with Vulgar Display of Power/Cowboys From Hell
@@Meangenehimselfif we are counting Pantera then add Vulgar and Lamb of Gods Palaces for me!
Any top ten thrash album list must have Annihilator Alice in Hell, if it doesn't, you don't know your thrash.
@@darthoblivion2615 If I had a top 15 I'd stick them in there :)
Great top 10 list!!!
Imo it's missing Exhorder, slaughter at the Vatican and Kreator, pleasure to kill, and Exodus, bonded by blood.
Thank you for the Overkill love. Having been a fan for over 30 years I can say I had to fiercely defend them in the 90’s and 00’s. Nice to see they are finally getting the respect they deserve. Hardest working band!
ALL those records from that period are great!
me too did a review for top Over Kill songs, because doing a review for each Album would be way too much.
Fan since 1988
So glad to see appreciation for Overkill. I totally agree about them kicking butts live. They are incredible!
First time I saw them, the first verse was about to begin and Bobby was nowhere to be seen. I was like “where is this dude?” and he came sprinting out from backstage like he got shot out of a rocket and slammed into the mic stand just in time for the first word. Amazing for someone any age but especially amazing at his age, having done it for so long.
There is no thrash metal without Exodus - Bonded BY Blood.....
1. Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? - Megadeth
2. Pleasure to Kill - Kreator
3. Forward to Termination - Sacrifice
4. Leave Scars - Dark Angel
5. The Force - Onslaught
6. Eternal Nightmare - Vio-Lence
7. Epidemic of Violence - Demolition Hammer
8. Deception Ignored - Deathrow
9. Tapping The Vein - Sodom
10. Chemical Assault - Violator
I absolutely agree with everything you said about Overkill. They're my favorite band.
love the memes during the video, i have to say that your editing skills are skyrocketing....🖤 well done !!
Thank you, this one was fun. Tried to match the unhinged vibe of all these bands
My heart bleeds for Among the Living, but great list nonetheless. I love how much importance you put on the memories you attach to each album; that's half of what loving music is about for me.
My list:
1. Metallica - Master of puppets
2. Sepultura - Arise
3. Megadeth - Rust in peace
4. Antrax - Euphoria
5. Slayer - Seasons in the abyss
5. Kreator - Extreme agression
6. Sodom - Agent orange
7. Antrax - Antisocial
8. Death - Leprosy
9. Megadeth - Peace sells
10. Metallica - Kill 'em all
Jeff Waters is a bad MF, but he at least gets a lot of respect from diehard metalheads. For me, the most underrated thrash guitarist is Rob Cavestany of Death Angel.
Only ten favourites is difficult, but I’ll try:
* Coroner - Mental Vortex
* Evildead - Annihilation of Civilization
* Flotsam & Jetsam - No Place for Disgrace
* Megadeth - Peace sells...but who’s buying?
* Metallica - Master of Puppets
* Nuclear Assault - Handle with Care
* Obliveon - From this Day Forward
* Sabbat - Dreamweaver
* Slayer - Reign in Blood
* Ratos de Porao - Brasil
Good call on flotsam. I didn't think of them. They're important!
Sabbat (UK), Album Dreamweaver. And there first album a history of a time to come. In my opinion best thrash metal band from the uk from that era
Great list Nate but I would add Bonded by blood.
Allllllmost did! It took me a long time to fully appreciate that album. When I was younger it sorta seemed like just a slightly inferior Kill Em All. But now I love it. It’s got a certain endearing quality that no other album has.
Respectable list 👏👏🤘🏼🤘🏼
I have never really given a fuck about Aerosmith, but I was 12 when I got The New Order and the cover of "Nobody's Fault" was one of my favorite tracks on that record. Still a banger in my opinion. Chuck Billy is the complete package as far as metal singers go , and I've heard he is a rad dude. Great show, man. Cheers!!
For sure “Nobody’s Fault” is one of the heaviest Aerosmith tunes ever, and I would argue it’s one of their best songs, period.
Great list
Great video! First one of yours I've seen. Loving the laid-back style, sarcastic interjections and goofy humour 😁
A few that come to mind by artists that you didn't mention, some of which I've seen mentioned in other comments:
Anthrax - Persistence of Time (probably my favourite of theirs)
Forbidden - Forbidden Evil (tough call as Twisted into Form is also awesome, RIP Tim Calvert)
Flotsam & Jetsam - No Place for Disgrace (I love Cuatro, too, but that's less thrashy)
Cro-Mags - Best Wishes (definitely crossing over to hardcore, but so good)
Hydravein - Rather Death than False of Faith (Hugely underappreciated album, probably due to less-than-stellar production)
Kreator - Extreme Aggression (I mean, it's Kreator)
It's been a while since I properly listened to any metal, but these were some from the classic era that I remember fondly.
Those first two forbidden albums are great and I love Best Wishes! I’ve never been into Kreator, but somebody mentioned a slightly later period album Phantom Antichrist and that one rules! So maybe I’ll have to work backwards or something
@@BornTooNate Fair enough. I did notice that your selection tended towards the US (with the obvious exception of Sepultura), so maybe it's a stylistic thing between American and European thrash. I heard someone on another video (can't remember which one) suggesting that Sepultura are an excellent example of German metal, so maybe listen to Sepultura and more recent Kreator and then, as you say, work backwards :D
I really do recommend checking out Hydravein's 'Rather Death than False of Faith,' though; such a good album (budget production notwithstanding).
Also, what are your thoughts on Celtic Frost's 'Vanity/Nemesis', Artillery's 'By Inheritance' and Pestilence's 'Malleus Maleficarum'?
@@Alan_Duvalceltic frost I really only listen to the first 2 albums. If I’m feeling later period I’ll listen to Monotheist. By Inheritance is a great record, love it. And I’m not super familiar with that Pestilence record, though I’ve heard it. Believe it or not I only listen to Spheres on the reg. Their other stuff is solid but not nearly as remarkable or weird… or interesting, at least to me.
Solid list. A few others to consider:
Forbidden - Forbidden Evil or Twisted Into Form
Death Angel - The Ultra Violence or The Evil Divide
Toxik - Think This
Nuclear Assault - Handle With Care
Forced Entry - Uncertain Future
I LOVE that Forced Entry record! How was that not huge?
Forced Entry has got to be one of the most underrated bands ever. They were so far ahead of the curve. Pure genius.
did videos for bands you mention But Never did one for Toxik think this, Awesome Album.
I just never got into Forced entry.
The Ultra Violence is the best.
nice video! i'll subscribe, i'm feel so chill when you talk
Terminal Redux by Vektor can be honorable mention
1. Slayer - Reign in Blood
2. Megadeth - Rust in Peace
3. Whiplash - Insult To Injury
4. Metallica - Master of Puppets
5. Possessed - Beyond The Gates
6. Vendetta - Brain Damage
7. Overkill - The Years of Decay
8. Dead Brain Cells - Universe
9. Testament - Low
10. Exodus - Tempo of the Damned
Coroner!!!! Hellz Yesh Hesh!! whut up, Brother G?!! I'd say some of my favorites are Kreator-Extreme Aggression, The Accused-More Fun Than an Open Casket Funeral, Beyond Possession-Is Beyond Possession, Cryptic Slaugther-Convicted, Hallow's Eve-Tales of Terror, Megadeth-Peace Sells, Razor-Evil Invaders, Sacrifice-Forward to Termination, Sanctuary-Refuge Denied, Tankard-Zombie Attack, Violence-Eternal Nightmare, Sodom-Agent Orange, Voi Vod-Killing Technology, Atrophy-Socialized Hate, Holy Terror.... OMG!! I'll stop. Love ya', Nate!!
JOHNNY! What the hell is up… those are some great picks from a real OG ❤
Good list dude, CARNIVORE!
1) Overkill - Years of Decay
2) Metallica - Ride the Lightning
3) Slayer - Hell Awaits
4) Exodus - Bonded By Blood
5) Megadeth - Peace Sells
6) Testament - The Legacy
7) Metallica- Puppets
8) Slayer - Reign
9) Flotsam - Doomsday
10) Kreator - Extreme Aggression
But, if you count Metal Church as thrash, their debut would be 6th on my list.
Love that first Metal Church album so much. Not sure if it’s thrash or not really?
In my opinion, albums that aren't from the 80s and very early 90s are often unjustly overlooked in ‘top thrash album’ lists, so I appreciate you including Municipal Waste and Power Trip. Here are another few 21st century thrash albums that measure up to the very best of the 80s and 90s, in my opinion.
Kreator - Phantom Antichrist
The Haunted - Made Me Do It
Toxik - Dis Morta
Onslaught - The Sound of Violence
Warbringer - Woe to the Vanquished
Vektor - Terminal Redux (David DiSanto controversy aside, the music is still incredible)
Controversial perhaps, because it’s certainly not at all a pure thrash album, but it has enough thrash content to count in my opinion: Voivod - Synchro Anarchy.
This might make the list, but it's still a little too new for me to be certain it will stick: Hellripper - Warlocks Grim and Withered Hags.
And finally, a very personal pick that I suspect hardly anyone else will agree with, but this is my list and I genuinely think it’s one of the best crossover thrash albums ever, so: Acid Reign - The Age of Entitlement.
Great show Nate, I'm about 15 years older than you but my list doesn't very much from yours. Diggin the editing/production here, keep it up man! Cheers! PS also Canadian, Annihilator!!!
Cheers! A song for you my friend… ua-cam.com/video/qJmR_cA4MpQ/v-deo.htmlsi=AvLxurFf3PTNoGcT
Yes, the "production" had me laughing in this episode!!
@@BornTooNate Awesome thanks for the recommendation Nate, have a great weekend.
Oh man, Rust in Peace was the 1st metal record I ever heard so that is my personal #1 thrash especially the guitar work both Dave and Marty had on that album is special. So my #1 but my other favorite thrash albums
Metallica-Ride the Lightning
Slayer-Hell Awaits
Overkill-Years of Decay
Sodom-Persecution Mania
Coroner- No More Color
Exodus-Bonded by Blood
Testament-Souls of Black
Voivod-Killing Technology
Artillery-By inheritance
Kreator-Pleasure to kill
I mostly look a these lists to find albums I don't know yet. Since i know so little Thrash bands even after 30+ years of exploration, my list will go quite out of bounds i think ( no particular order):
Megadeth - Peace Sells/Rust in Peace
Slayer - South of Heaven
Coroner - No More Color
Wrathchild America - 3D
Sacred Reich - Ignorance
Anthrax - Among the Living
Death Angel - Act III
Voivod - Killing Technology
Suicidal Tendencies - Lights Camera Revolution
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
People might wonder why i chose Wrathchild America. Well I just love this album, it's not pure thrash aggression but I can't get bored of it after all these long years, even with it's weird mix and production, it's always like meeting an old friend. I wouldn't trade it for a 1000 masters of puppets.
But as i said, I don't know every album ever released. There are some albums that i know are good, awesome even, but I don't remember any of it after a listen!? So now i tend to trade technicality for melody, except for a few bands like Atheist, but it's not Thrash.
I'll give a lsiten to some of your picks though :)
Nice!
Annihilator dont get enough love. Chuck Billy is the man.
Seeing municipal waste on Saturday 🤘🏽🥳🤘🏽
Hell yeah, enjoy it!
I feel like any purely objective list has to have 4 of the top 5 occupied by Metallica and slayer but you introduced me to some cool new stuff!!
Nicely said. Overkill rules! When I first heard Feel the Fire, I lost my sh!t. Your list is A+
"Playing the shit out of their instruments, but not trying to show off, trying to make you very afraid." That was legitimately funny, how you made it sound okay, for a second, or like it was going to be, and then it was worse.
Thanks for some new workout music! 🤘🏼Nightmare logic is definitely one of my favorite thrash albums and great gym music !
Me too. I’ve probably worked out to Carnivore - Retaliation more than any other record, starting at age 17 or so. Hasn’t lost one bit of its initial impact!
Xentrix - Shattered Existence and Atrophy - Violent by Nature would make my list
For a modern pick I'd go with Ketzer - Satan's Boundaries Unchained (Although it's very blackened I still consider it Thrash)
That Xentrix record is siiiiiiick
Overkill (with Exhorder and Heathen) live was the best thrash show I've seen yet.
Here's a modern one (2017) that I think went under the radar and deserves a lot of spins/plays. Terrifier - Weapons of Thrash Destruction. Great list, Nate!
Thank you for the tip on Terrifier. Hadn't heard of them until I saw your comment. Just checked them out, and they are bad ass.
My huge respect for CORONER and ANNIHILATOR! Those are genuine thrash metal gems...
Mental Vortex is my fourth favorite Coroner record behind Punishment for Decadence, No More Color, and RIP, but glad to see Coroner on the list. Curious why he picked that one, I'll have to check the old videos to see if he talks more about Coroner.
No Top 10 is complete without Bonded By Blood 🩸
Yet here it is
agree
I agree. And then there were none is right up there with the best of em
Bonded by Blood is thrash metal royalty. Too tier thrash metal
@@madlynx1818 Piranha was the one that blew me away at the time. But every one of them is pure, aural assault.
Dude, I’ve recommended it before but I’ll say it again. Invicta is one of the most underrated bands right now. Their two albums and EP they released are awesome. If Iron Maiden played thrash metal! 🤘
Some great songs by Invicta to check out:
- Terminal Brutality
- Sacred Scourge
- Forces of Annihilation
- Apprentice of Death
- Battle the Beyond (I recommended this before but this is my personal favorite song and is here for your audience)
Cheers! 🍻
Great picks! I was happily surprised to see Annihilator and Coroner on your list! My only top 10 thrash band missing is Vektor and their album Outer Isolation. Intense, voivodian, fast thrash with great sci-fi feel.
So important to include Powertrip. They took me back to the 80's
You make the best metal lists on UA-cam imo. Keep it up bro
Thanks!
In my opinion, the best 10 albums in the history of thrash metal are: 1.Metallica-Master Of Puppets
2..Slayer-Season in the Abyss,3.Megadeth-Rust In Peace 4.Anihilator-Never,Neverland 5.Coroner-Mental Vortex.6.Overkill-Horrorscope.7.Artillery-Khinomaniac 8.Testament-Low 9.Sepultura-Arise10.Acid Drinkers-Acidofilia
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill and Exodus - Bonded by Blood not being on here cut me to my core, Nathan. Fuck it though, lists are hard. Love the show, man!
Love BBB!
@@BornTooNate Your response in the next video "it's not my fault America invented thrash metal and we're better at it than everybody. Go fuck yourself" gave me a good laugh haha, well said. I'm Canadian, so American or German makes no difference to me as long as it's awesome fucking metal music!
Love the "Trouble" t-shirt. What a great band.. with a great catalog of excellent LPs thru the years.
Just found this channel. This guy seems to know a thing or two about metal. Subscribed.
My personal top 10:
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Metallica - …And Justice For All
Vektor - Outer Isolation
Vektor - Black Future
Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of Violence
Metallica - Ride The Lightning
Testament - The Gathering
Sepultura - Beneath The Remains
Exhorder - Slaughter at the Vatican
Paradox - Heresy
Also; I replayed you singing "It's Saturday. There's no more school" about 10 times. Hilarious.
Wtf were they thinking
Kreator- Pleasure to Kill is a must
I personally prefer Sodom but I know most folks consider that album to be a classic
I know I’m really late to this, but I feel like someone HAS TO mention Destruction- Infernal Overkill and Terrible Certainty by Kreator. Also, Flotsam & Jetsam- Doomsday for the Deceiver (goofy lyrics aside).
Thanks for all the knowledgeable recommendations and great humor. 🤘
Thrash is the first sub-genre I jumped into, and MAN did I jump into it... my favorite albums of the genre (in no real order)
Metallica - Ride The Lightning: (All-time favorite band and favorite album from 'em)
Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying: (Rust is close, however this just feels, "thrashier"?)
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell: (this IS a Thrash album, fight me)
Sepultera - Beneath The Remains: (unsure why but I love this a lot more than Arise)
Testament - The New Order: (love all of them and I'd agree with you, that they're arguably a better "thrash" band then any of the big 4)
Anthrax - State Of Euphoria: (Antisocial, enough said)
Sodom - Agent Orange: (This is a Thrash masterpiece, up there with Beneath The Remains, Ride The Lightning, etc)
Death Angel - Thrashers: (Heavily underrated)
Exodus - Tempo Of The Damned: (I genuinely am still shocked that Exodus best record was made in 2004...)
And lastly...
Kreator - Pleasure To Kill: (The haunting choir intro sets the tone of the album by opening the gates of hell and never closing them)
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Overkill - The Years Of Decay
Flotsam And Jetsam - Flotsam And Jetsam (2016 ??!)
Sacred Reich - Ignorance
Exhorder - The Law
Judas Priest - Painkiller (This is up for debate as to if it's a Thrash record or not, I don't know, but I like to say it is)
Loads of fun ! Thanks for sharing your thoughts
\m/
Great list, I can go along with.. .. Kreator, Sodom, Death Angel or Destruction have released Albums that would have been fit for an Honorable Mention (if not on the shelf....) anyway: I enjoyed your video!
I wish more people would listen to Nuclear Assault - Game Over (1986) album. It's in my top 5 Thrash albums.....it will likely be in yours if everyone gave it a serious listen.
1. Sodom - Persecution Mania
2. Slayer - Reign in Blood
3. Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
4. Kreator - Extreme Aggression
5. Sodom - Agent Orange
6. Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss
7. Coroner - Mental Vortex
8. Sepultura - Arise
9. Destruction - Eternal Devastation
10. Metallica - Master of Puppets
Love to see Annilhilator on the list. At you chose them over Dark Angel. Coroner Mental Vortex was my gateway into Coroner. My only complaint was the exclusion of Vio-lence Eternal Nightmare. But i have a biased opinion (they are my favorite thrash band).
All great choices here. Eternal Nightmare was my introduction, but Oppressing the Masses literally had my neck throbbing after the full listen. Mental Vortex is a must have. Alice In Hell and Jeff Waters technical skills are insane.
That's a fantastic list. Imagine someone starting out using these 10 as their thrash education. It would be a great start. Also, thanks for the Annihilator/Jeff Waters recognition.
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Excellent choices!!!!!!! Bravo ❤❤❤❤❤
Love the Demolition Hammer and Coroner choice.
Coroner took a long time to grow on me, Mental Vortex is the record that sold me. So interesting and cerebral without sacrificing brutality and aggression
@@BornTooNate it makes me proud to see, that the younger generation explores hidden gems like these, including you. You could easily pick obvious albums of your generation, but no. This shows you're a real metal music lover, who's digging deep into the core of the underground (into which Mental Vortex, respected by few at this time though, belonged to when I was young).
Hell yea, thank you! And man to be honest the music of my generation is mostly not as good as older stuff… hate to say it…
Good choices. I'd add Reason by Anacrusis, By Inheritence by Artillery, In Search of Sanity by Onslaught and Persistance of Time by Anthrax.
Thoughts on Terminal Redux? I've never heard anything like it
Love the music but the guy who wrote it fucking sucks
Yeeaaaahh! SEPULTURA '91. And a separate thanks for TESTAMENT Legacy :)
Anthrax's Spreading The Disease, Celtic Frost's Into the Pandemonium, Holy Terror's Mind Wars and Kreator's Terrible Certainty would make my list.
Good records! Is Celtic frost considered thrash? I always kinda felt they were their own deal and then at some point I realized people consider them “first wave black metal” along with mercyful fate, venom, and Bathory? Of those bands, Bathory is the only one that SOUNDS like black metal to me…
@@BornTooNate No, you are right, Celtic Frost do fall between camps and that is a particularly odd one. I guess I consider it a thrash record, because it was a go-to during my formative thrash years (I am old). Thanks for taking the time to reply.
And agree on Bathory. I don' even like Venom.
@@spencergrady5501 🤘🏻
It's impossible to put together a top 10 of the best metal sub-genre ever, but on any list I come up with; Forbidden has to be on it. Best live show I've ever seen. Forbidden Evil will melt your face!
I Like Forbidden Evil alot BUT Twisted into Form is just Better. I had to do a Review for Both because they only have 3 Albums, NOT counting the first EP
The new singer is OK, Im just used to & think Russ Anderson fits Forbidden the best
Nice selection 🤘
Here is my list. I think i bought all of these on cassette when they came out.
Metallica KEA
Anthrax StD
Megadeth PSbWB
Exodus BbB
Slayer RiB
Flotsam and Jetsam DftD
Testament TL
Heathen BtS
Stormtroopers of Death SEoD
Suicidal Tendencies LCR
Really digging Ghost at the Gallows. One of the best heavy albums I've heard this year.
Thank you! Great list, can’t imagine how rad it must have been to be picking those up as they came out. Respect 🤘🏻
Is Suicidal Tendencies LCR a thrash album? If it is, it would make my list too.
Could be considered thrash but if we wanna get dorky it’s probably crossover?
@@stevehuvane135either way though I LOVE that album. I’ve been obsessed with you can’t bring me down for about a year now 😂
I would argue that peace sells is more thrasher than rust in peace. Rust in peace is so much more technical, but lately peace sells has grown more on me
Gar Samuelson, man. His drumming makes Peace Sells a lot more distinctive than it would’ve been with a drummer who was experienced with metal music and metal drumming.
I love Peace Sells so much. Bought those both on the same day. Got food poisoning. Still ruled.
no bonded by blood? ok
Glad The Gathering got a quick reference. Listened to that album for the first time recently and was blown away.
One of my faves growing up. Supergroup lineup
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Megadeth - Peace Sells but Who's Buying
Sepultura - Schizoprenia
Sodom - Persecution Mania
Forbidden - Twisted into Form
Artillery - By Inheritance
Testament -The New Order
Voivod - War and Pain
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Sabbat - Satanasword ( Japaneses thrash maniacs )
I’m not into black or death metal but if you add thrash to that mix and call it SkeletonWitch you have the greatest four albums in a row of the greatest thrash band of all time. I will stand by that Totally!!!
Overkill is better than some of the big others yeah too and I’ve seen them many times years ago and all their current albums are excellent too they never stopped. The worst thing Dave mustain ever did was decide to sing.
Bought the kill em all record at a Metallica show in about ‘83 at the paramount theater that used to be on Staten Island.
Word up
🤘
suscribed just because Arise is in your list 😂...best thrash album ever imo!
Major points for the Trouble shirt. This means INSTANT credibility.
One thing I want to add at Metallica, Kill 'Em All is always listed as thrash and I don't hear it. I hear a very fast punk album with Motorhead influences. Ride The Lightning really isn't as punk-y and it starts to get more progressive and then Master Of Puppets is obviously the peak of both trash and progressive. With that said, I love this list and these videos. Can't wait to see more.
Phantom Antichrist by Kreator, as well. I consider that overall to be just a perfect metal album.
I’m not normally blown away by Kreator, but this is insane! Great stuff
No particular order
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Whiplash - Power and Pain
Anthrax - Among the Living
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Slayer - Reign in Blood
Overkill - Feel the Fire
Exodus - Bonded By Blood
Exodus - Shovel Headed Kill Machine
Last two really border on thrash but they’re so badass I have to put them there
Spiritworld - Deathwestern
Ministry - Houses of the Mole
You get my subscription even though you only put 1 Megadeth record on there...I agree with your list pretty much otherwise, though. Really appreciate the love for Chuck Billy! I had the privilege of seeing Testament live, and damn straight they are awesome AF.
With these lists I stick to one album per band.
Fair enough, and I was just kidding anyway. :) @@BornTooNate
got 4 of these albums and it's a good list, thought sacred reich ignorance would have made it though as it's just brutal.also i know no one sounds like them but it's thrash in parts voivod dimension hatross,an absolute classic.have a good day mate
Love that first Sacred Reich album! That Voivod album is cool as well.
Beyond *CHOICE* cuts from Testament, Annihilator & Coroner! (although I do like The New Order more)
STYGIAN “Planetary Destruction”
RIDE THE LIGHTNING & AND JUSTICE FOR ALL are what I believe are their greatest!!
This might be the best Metallica album… ua-cam.com/video/0g0LmntBbSw/v-deo.htmlsi=yH9wPf34CDtOqHQn
🤔 if we’re talking modern day (ish) Thrash then Vektor’s Terminal Redux has to be on any list it’s one of the greatest albums ever released my top 5 would be 1. Megadeth Rust In Peace 2. Slayer Reign In Blood 3. Exodus Bonded By Blood 4. Vektor Terminal Redux & 5. Megadeth Countdown To Extinction
I would like to encourage everyone to type in "happy death/corpse content"
By demolition hammer.
This is a kick ass song but I don't think it was on a full length. It was only on a ep.
Also, on your crossover episode, I hope there is D.R.I and S.T. ❗😎
For SURE both of those bands gotta be on any crossover list!
Cool list I would have included:
Exodus Bonded by Blood
Kreator Pleasure to Kill
Possessed 7 Churches
Hallows Eve Tales of Terror
Absolutely love that Demolition Hammer made the list. Epidemic of Violence is one of the most brutal albums ever made.
Hell yeah! Lotta wimps on here getting mad about that one being included… not sure why? Maybe it’s too heavy for em 😂
@BornTooNate That album is a masterpiece in my mind. I have been cranking it a lot lately.
@BornTooNate The people getting mad about its inclusion. Obviously, haven't listened to it or don't know metal.
Warbringer for modern thrash😀flying the flag and immense live band too
morbid saint spectrum of death is great
Sick list! One of my favorite modern is havok conformicide. Reminds me of a modern rust in peace. Just wild playing and riffs
Anything with slap bass is automatically disqualified
@@BornTooNate oh yeah… I forgot you hate slap bass….🙄😂
😂😂
So I'm commenting before I've watched the whole video but if Power Trip's Nightmare Logic doesn't make the list it should make honorable mention at the very least. Phenomenal, phenomenal album from a band that was just getting started.
Edit: Just finished the video, I'll never doubt your judgement again!!
…..
@@BornTooNateI literally applauded you Sir, the clapping startled my son!!
😂👏🏻
Great choices, exact same with ride and puppets can change depending on mood but. Great shout including power trip, phenomenal album and band. Celtic frost To mega therion would be in there for me too.
A top 10 underrated thrash albums would be nice.
Mine:
Apocalypse - Faithless
Cranium - Speed Metal Slaughter
Cyclone - Inferior to None
Cyclone Temple - I Hate Therefore I Am
Devastation - Idolatry
Flotsam and Jetsam - Flotsam and Jetsam
Mortal Sin - Face of Despair
Stone - No Anaesthesia!
Wargasm - Ugly
Xentrix - For Whose Advantage?
Great idea, I was just thinking this over yesterday. Devastation and Xentrix would definitely be on mine as well!
Not having any Znowhite albums and Morbid Saint - Spectrum Of Death even in "top 10 underrated albums" shows how much they really are underrated))
Well done!
Riffobia is one of the cooler new thrash bands too
Hi Nate 🤘There are so many great Thrash Metal albums. Since you listed CARNIVORE which is more Hardcore / Crossover to me, I would like to mention an album I really love in Crossover Metal, very Thrash Metal and very Hardcore at same time: CRO-MAGS "Alpha Omega" (1991) (CENTURY MEDIA), an amazing album 🤘And this year one of my favorite albums is EVILE "The Unknown", for me it is their "Ride The Lightning" or "Master Of Puppets" (and yes, don't worry, "Ghost at the Gallows" is in my top 10 too 😉)
All the best,
- Gilles -
Thanks! Man I love Alpha Omega! Underrated album. Harley in his book said he was doing mushrooms all day, that’s why there’s so many keyboards 😂
Arise is best record on this list........spot on! \m/ \m/
Its awsome
Great list especially power trip and overkill. I just saw overkill live back in july one of my favorite bands. I would've put exodus and vio-lence on this list.
Eternal Nightmare is cool
Severe lack of Teutonic Thrash BUT all your other takes are pretty based 🤘🏻
Sodom almost made it!
Killer list Nate…all those albums will thrash your ass to hell and back we have common ground a majority but a few differ on my top 10
1 Reign in Blood (thrash personified)
2 Ride the Lighting ( thrash ambition)
3 Rust in Peace (technical perfection)
4 Among the Living (songwriting acuteness)
5 Bonded by Blood ( neck breakerrrr)
6 Nightmare Logic ( most listened to modern metal album other than maybe Deserted and Sonarian Deprivation cheers)
7 Kill ‘em All ( still a fun listen to this day )
8 Souls of Black( Testament doesn’t have a bad album this is just my fav )
9 Beneath the Remains ( could’ve picked Arise or chaos ad here but I love the darkness on this album )
10 South of Heaven ( still one of my all time fav albums Behind the Crooked Cross might be my top slayer song had to be in the top ten )
Ps I agree on the Master of puppets sentiment I can’t categorize that as thrash it’s just superior to all genres
Great picks! I almost included bonded by blood
Thanks for including a couple of the more modern gems in here Nate. I’m always torn between Art of Partying and Hazardous Mutation as best of Municipal Waste, so totally get your take here. Some potential omissions of note….nothing by Anthrax, Sacred Reich or Nuclear Assault. Surprised Kreator for some European representation aren’t there too. So many cool bands in this sub genre though and far too many great albums to get them all into a top 10! Also, as a workout genre, Thrash metal is unsurpassed!
Art of partying is great I just think Hazardous is more relentless. Plus the goofy party element is slightly dialed down. The last MW record is up there as one of their best as well. I love those dudes so much. Good guys. Another band with no bad records.
I don’t like anthrax, never have and never will. Charlie is without a doubt the best and most interesting part of the band, but I’ve never heard one single anthrax riff that blew me away.
I dig Nuclear Assault but I always felt the vocals were sub par. I’d turn to DRI for something roughly in that same style. And as far as the German stuff… Kreator has never resonated with me. And I’ve tried hard. IMO Sodom is vastly superior. Persecution Mania is one of my favorite thrash albums.
Never checked Sodom out, but will do so now based on this. Your knowledge of Metal in general, but moreover the sub genres is something to behold. It’s also why I’ll always tune in to one of your top 10 lists over the many others online. Looking forward to the crossover and death metal top 10s in due course! Keep up the strong work both here and with Spirit Adrift @BornTooNate
@@gavinmcmahon1947 cheers, thank you! Hope you enjoy Sodom. Persecution Mania and Agent Orange are my 2 faves of theirs
It is a good thing when someone is making a list of top 10 greatest thrash metal albums of all times and not including Master Of Puppets, but to include Megadeth's Rust In Peace is your mistake, this album contains 3 great songs while the rest are filler, the album has a polished production and it is closer to a heavy metal album than a thrash metal album, i would put Peace Sells.... instead, Carnivore was a great surprise, i saw them live at Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany, their live show was ferocious, other than that your list is very, very good, i give you the grade of 9 out of 10, thanks for sharing your list, take care and all the best.
Love Peace Sells as well! Discovered both those megadeth albums on the same day as a kid… quite a day. Jealous you got to see Carnivore!
This top 10 list is great so I’ll smash the subscribe button. Hulk smasssshhh you should to.
