What are the pros and cons of owning one as opposed to having a Class B or a Class C RV instead? And are they the perfect RV choice that many RVers claim they are? Thanks a bunch. Not a purchaser yet. Just doing my homework. The Leisure Unity and Wonder Vans have my attention as the best size for myself and 4 medium sized dogs, second person optional. Now I know what that class size is called. I have more homework and renting to try out before any purchases, but B+ is my size!!!

      Leisure Travel makes a great product, so I'm sure you will be happy with that choice. But my calling it a B+ does not always match what other people call those kind of RVs. Many times they are lumped in with Class C RVs. But as far as I am concerned, if it has a van chassis like the Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit or Dodge Promaster, it is a Class B+ because it falls in between the size and weight capacities of Class B and Class C RVs. I hope that helps Edie.

    I think a con to class B+ is generally low cargo capacity

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  День тому

      Hi Sherrie. Yes, that is the Achilles heel of Class B+ RVs. And many manufacturers make it difficult to tell how much cargo capacity is available. Some have resolved that problem by towing a cargo trailer though. it's a thought anyway.

    Duane I have to disagree with your statement that there is no perfect RV!! You know the Super C I'm talking about. Lol! The only thing that I can figure out is that there aren't enough zeros in my checking account to purchase my perfect Super C! Just having fun. Great video as usual. THANKS SAFE TRAVELS

    Nice, balanced presentation on the B+ RVs. Too small for me and I am not a Murphy bed sleeper, but it is obviously a popular choice for many.

      Yes, the Murphy beds are a problem for many in this size RV. It's another thing to consider. Thanks for bringing that up Robert!

    Here's something that no one brings up. Class Cs (and As) have truck engines. If Class Bs hold true to the conversion vans of old, they have car engines, doesn't matter how big, they were still auto engines. Class B+s all appear to have the stub hood (which makes them harder to service) and suggests that they use the less durable engines that the Bs use. Maybe we need a short tutorial on the different engines used on the different classes. For example, I have heard that it's tough, on the road, to find a mechanic that will work on a class A. I imagine it's the same for class Bs. Cs are easy, they are trucks. They have easy access, and they have big durable engines.
    Thoughts?

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  2 роки тому +1

      Actually that is a good suggestion for another video. I agree that not much is often said about the engine size and placement when comparing types of RVs. So that sounds like something that should be in a future video of mine. Thanks for making that suggestion. It's much appreciated!

      WRONG! Class B+, C and most front engine class A use the same gas engines that 3/4 ton and larger pickups use. No such thing as 'truck' engines until you get to larger pusher diesel class A. B+ and class C use same cut away van chassis. Difference is the length and cab over, or lack of.

    Hello Duane, another very informative video. We own a Leisure Travel Van Unity RL. I very much find myself in your pros and cons. One topic you did not mention is Cold Weather Readyness. Our Van is not cold weather ready as the tanks are under the belly and therefore exposed. Are there B+ like the lEisure Van with its modern interior and are cold weather ready?

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  Рік тому

      That's the first I had heard about the Unity's tanks being exposed in cold weather. I have to admit that this is a subject where I haven't been quite as diligent checking on that situation. So I can't really recommend another B+ that does a better job on that yet. But I will keep my eyes out for that in the future. Space is at such a premium on these Class B and B+ RVs, but exposing the water and waste tanks to really cold weather isn't good. Thanks for bringing my attention to that and for watching the video!

      @@RVInspectionAndCare I have a Forrest River Lexington class C or B+ 26 foot long. It has under belly heated tanks for gray and black water . The fresh water tank is under the bed along with the pump ,filter and pressure tank.. I really like this setup. Has two slides and sleeps 3 or 4 . Separate bath. Its on the E450 chassis.

      Hi Shaun. Just go to nrvia.org and click on the button "Find An Inspector". On the next page search the map in the area where you need the inspection and get the contact information of the NRVIA inspectors that are nearby. Any NRVIA trained inspector is able to provide a quality RV inspection.

    Who are the best B+ manufacturers? And specifically the best not on a Mercedes chassis. TIA

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  Рік тому +1

      I have made a guidebook that lists all of the Class B+ manufacturers that I can recommend for quality and customer service. You can find it here - ua-cam.com/video/g2UPDc3HPtg/v-deo.html But I have to say that the vast majority of models recommended are on the Mercedes chassis as that is the choice of most B+ builders.
