Thank you brother. I’m no handyman I assure you, but your clip saved us. Thank you for posting this. It ended up being that the belt came off, but your video provided me with the instructions to remove the cover and from there I could see that the belt came off. This was due to clothing falling in between the wash tub and the top. There is a gap and if you don’t pay attention, the clothing could slip down and interfere with the belt, ultimately knocking it off.
Thanks Victor, I’ve seen that so many times with that model. It’s recommended when you fill it to only go up 3/4 of the total volume of the spin basket. If you get anywhere near the top clothing will often end up in the cabinet and wrapped around the belt.

We just moved the switch to spin only and hit start to drain the rinse water. We had to raise and lower the lid several times to get it to lock, however. Thanks for the great tutorial.
Mine spins but not with anything in it. Crazy loud noises, not just out of balance noise. Took the towel and pants out, still doesn't work. Took everything else out (a couple Tshirts and boxers) and it is working. The tip on how to remove the front panel is priceless!!

The snubber straps breaking off the tub ring is a symptom that goes hand in hand with a broken lid switch, you have to fix both or the chassis will break the lid lock again. There are a whole lot of reasons that the chassis breaks the lock and tub ring, at the minimum you need to replace all four suspension rods. And if that doesn't work, change the whole chassis.

Thanks for the video. I get this same problem where the lid won’t lock when moving to spin. However, if I put pressure on the lid and press start it will engage the lock. So I think the switch works but it’s not registering the lid is closed. Would this be more of the magnet problem? Or should I still try replacing the whole switch?

I have the exact same set. Normal setting the agitator spins slow. Not sure if that’s normal. Noticed on rinse it’s drains and it spins fast and fills up. By the time on spin button it doesn’t spin at all while on a solid red lock lid light and just drains the water out. Any ideas?

My lid switch module is very difficult to disconnect from the lid switch! I've been pulling with pliers and tugging on it with no luck, seemed to be stuck with a clip.. any suggestions?

Does that exact model not have a buzzer to let you know the dryer is finished? I bought a used set and there isn't a buzzer. Just wondering if my buzzer is dead. I don't know if I have ever seen a dryer without a buzzer even back in the old days.

Ok a new issue has creeped up. I replaced the lid switch and the unit seemed to work. But now when it finishes washing and goes into pump out to spin it just sits and pumps and pumps and pumps and it won't spin. This is part of the first rinse cycle. So I put it in diagnostic mode and selected spin cycle at position 7 on the dial work perfectly! What's up with this is this a control board problem or some kind of sensor is not being tripped? Got the exact same model. The spin cycle is not working, so I replaced that same part. Hoping it would fix the problem. It did not. If I set it to spin, it would drain and spin. But when I set it to wash cycles, it would not. Need help.
I have a spin issue with the exact washer/dryer combo. Unfortunately, while it spins on drain and spin, etc., it won't start spinning during full cycles and the start button needs to be pressed again to get it to move forward to the spin part of the cycle. I work on these all the time. Another problem that causes it not to spin is the speed sensor. If it starts to spin or agitate and stops then check speed sensor. It can be found on the motor and its relatively cheap.
So what happens when you replace the lid switch the one that you're replacing now and then one in front of that and the magnet above that and it still keeps doing it. The washer is only 2 years old too. I Still can't figure it out.

Anybody still having a problem with the washer not spinning you might want to check the shift actuator at the bottom of the washer tub it is connected to the support Fork on a GE model don't know about other models but sometimes it can short out and cause it not to go into spin or agitation mode

Hi, I have a dwv pipe that’s clean at 1-1/2” and the pump overflows the standpipe, I was wondering would it be possible to switch the washer drain hose with a smaller more constricted hose or perhaps decrease the intensity of the pump to prevent overflow? Thanks
There’s a narrowing of the standpipe where it makes a 90 degree turn. You should snake it out to allow water to flow better. You might also want to check the vent tube for that drain on the roof to make sure it’s clear.
Hello, Scott! Thank you in advance for all of your super helpful DIY videos. I noticed in this video that after the five distinct clicking sounds only the spin light blinks on the machine you are repairing. My GE begins to drain after it's done agitating (washing) then promptly stops draining, makes those same five distinct clicking sounds (as in your video) BUT the difference I'm seeing is my 'SPIN', 'WASH' and 'ON' lights blink. Is a faulty lid-switch still the most likely culprit, even though more of my lights are blinking than just the 'SPIN' light seen in your video? Also I've noticed that the red 'LID LOCKED' light has not come on for me, through any of this. As a landlord barely clearing a profit after taxes, the ability to successfully complete repairs myself is imparitve, so A BIG THANK YOU again for all the help you provide through your channel.

In my situation, I get the lid lock light; the lid is locked, BUT, when the spin, or wash agitate tries to start, it stops and the associated function led (wash, or spin) flashes. Any help greatly appreciated.
I think the little white magnetic sensor located near the lid lock needs to be replaced. The wire below it got broken from too big of a load. Just need to replace that piece.
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I tested continuity through that switch and it was as it should be according to the service manual. The motor actually starts to run, then shuts down.
I think that does produce a code. I have seen The lid lock function but not allow the washer to go to spin. It might be worth it to replace the lid lock since they are cheap and easy to replace.
I know one thing, and I hope GE sees this, I will never ever buy another GE product again. I've had my washer for 2 years and have been having the same issues on and off with it's filling and not washing. It always happens when I need things in a hurry, and it is simply infuriating. This is the first brand new washer I've ever purchased and if I had more trouble with than the $20 washers from Goodwill that are 20+ years old. How ridiculous is that?!

I replaced lock lid switch. Still no spin. It clicks, but will not spin. It fills, washes, drains, but just won't engage spin. Lock lid light does not come on. But does in service mode.
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I have tested lid sensor, works fine. I noticed 1 relay on circuit board has small burn mark that the others don't. Also saw a video where guy replaced motor then spin worked. I don't think it's motor on this one. It works in agitate.
@ Scott. I have a GUD27GSSJOWW stackable GE WASHER DRYER. PRoblem !!! Washer starts to agitate in wash cycle, but stops immediately. One agitation to the left and it stops. on this same model. i have a stackable that when i place clothes in to begin wash. it fills up with water and it will begin to agitate for a split second and than the light begins to blink as if the machine was paused... what could that be?

I have one that gives me an error code of spin and on witch means something clog up but when I check the whose nothing is in there of I check the pump even doe it drains by itself
theintellectualz11 put a light to where you can see in there and you'll see metal clips on both sides. Just dig them out of they're position to unlock them and get the door loose. Using a light helped me position my screwdriver where it needed to be.

Tried replacing lid switch, didn't fix my problem. Dug around and found how to read the diagnostics lights. Lights are showing a motor block.......checked for stuck clothes and what not and there aren't any. Reading that it could be the board. Any tips on how to tell if that's definitely the case?
put the unit into diagnostic mode clear the codes and try again. also could be a small tub seal leak has leaked into the supports bearings causing it to seize up. or water damaged rps sensor. but since we like to fix the easiest things first just try to clear the codes and re run a regular cycle

Check the lid sensor and make sure the wires are connected properly - it's the white plastic piece just above the lid switch. Most likely culprit and easy fix.
I have these machines on my apartment complex. The pulley was broken so I replaced it. I adjusted the tension on the belt because the motor was pushed inwards towards the center of the tub. Once the motor begins to spin it immediately shuts off and the lid lock light stays on solid while spin flashes and won’t work anymore. I reset it and the same thing happens. Any thoughts? You should be able to get the part number off of the part. It will vary from one machine to another. Mine is WH44X10288. Look for WH, 1 or 2 digits, X, then up to 6 more digits.

+Ariana A. Can you try turning off the breakers for your washer dryer and then turning them fully back on to see if that helps? Some of these machines used to breakers one of them may be not working.
I hope you still check this posting cause I have a problem. Today I was going to wash a load of clothes and everything was fine.....filled with water but then wouldn't start. I had NO lights. So fixing it the female way banging things I gave up. Shortly I heard the washer going and everything seemed to be fine. When I went back to put the clothes in the dryer, they were soaking wet. THE FIX IS SIMPLER. Unkink the hose in the back. It’s not spinning because it can’t drain and it can’t drain because the hose is not how it should be, just wiggle the cord and it will start back working
My GE washing machine spins when it wants and dosent spin when it wants. Also it goes from cycle to cycle in other words if i throw in a load of laundry and go to work when I come home the washer is still washing. Hello, I replaced the lid lock and it did not help. When I set my load size on the left side (cottons) to Light, Med or Heavy and push start, you can hear the water start to fill and the top two lights will go green (On and Wash). Once the machine fills with water, the lights will then begin to flash. If I spin the knob to "spin only" or "quick rinse" you can hear the water drain, the lid lock will activate and it will spin or rinse. My question is, why will the machine not go through any full cycle without stopping and those top two lights flashing? I even unplugged the whole machine for 2 minutes and opened and closed the lid 6+ times in 12 seconds... Can anyone help? My model number is GUAN275ED2WW Thanks

Hey Scott, I would replace the magnetic sensor that’s right next to the lid switch you replaced.

Got the exact same model. The spin cycle is not working, so I replaced that same part. Hoping it would fix the problem. It did not. If I set it to spin, it would drain and spin. But when I set it to wash cycles, it would not. Need help.
I have a spin issue with the exact washer/dryer combo. Unfortunately, while it spins on drain and spin, etc., it won't start spinning during full cycles and the start button needs to be pressed again to get it to move forward to the spin part of the cycle. My tenant is an older woman who has trouble moving around and finds this pretty difficult to deal with. Any advice as to what this might be and how to fix the problem?

I work on these all the time. Another problem that causes it not to spin is the speed sensor. If it starts to spin or agitate and stops then check speed sensor. It can be found on the motor and its relatively cheap.

So what happens when you replace the lid switch the one that you're replacing now and then one in front of that and the magnet above that and it still keeps doing it. The washer is only 2 years old too. I Still can't figure it out.

Anybody still having a problem with the washer not spinning you might want to check the shift actuator at the bottom of the washer tub it is connected to the support Fork on a GE model don't know about other models but sometimes it can short out and cause it not to go into spin or agitation mode

I have the exact same set. It works fine but when the agitator starts, it will start with 4 little clunking noises, stop, then 4 more little clunking noises. Then will start agitating. Is this normal for this machine?

If my problem is intermittent, (as In I’ve had a problem since yesterday but today after opening and closing I was able to get the lid lock to function) which part of the assembly do you think it is? Hi, I have a dwv pipe that’s clean at 1-1/2” and the pump overflows the standpipe, I was wondering would it be possible to switch the washer drain hose with a smaller more constricted hose or perhaps decrease the intensity of the pump to prevent overflow? Thanks
There’s a narrowing of the standpipe where it makes a 90 degree turn.
You should snake it out to allow water to flow better.
You might also want to check the vent tube for that drain on the roof to make sure it’s clear.
Hello, Scott! Thank you in advance for all of your super helpful DIY videos. I noticed in this video that after the five distinct clicking sounds only the spin light blinks on the machine you are repairing.
My GE begins to drain after it's done agitating (washing) then promptly stops draining, makes those same five distinct clicking sounds (as in your video) BUT the difference I'm seeing is my 'SPIN', 'WASH' and 'ON' lights blink. Is a faulty lid-switch still the most likely culprit, even though more of my lights are blinking than just the 'SPIN' light seen in your video? Also I've noticed that the red 'LID LOCKED' light has not come on for me, through any of this.
As a landlord barely clearing a profit after taxes, the ability to successfully complete repairs myself is imparitve, so A BIG THANK YOU again for all the help you provide through your channel.

In my situation, I get the lid lock light; the lid is locked, BUT, when the spin, or wash agitate tries to start, it stops and the associated function led (wash, or spin) flashes. Any help greatly appreciated.
I think the little white magnetic sensor located near the lid lock needs to be replaced. The wire below it got broken from too big of a load. Just need to replace that piece.
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I tested continuity through that switch and it was as it should be according to the service manual. The motor actually starts to run, then shuts down.

I have seen The lid lock function but not allow the washer to go to spin.
It might be worth it to replace the lid lock since they are cheap and easy to replace.
I know one thing, and I hope GE sees this, I will never ever buy another GE product again. I've had my washer for 2 years and have been having the same issues on and off with it's filling and not washing. It always happens when I need things in a hurry, and it is simply infuriating. This is the first brand new washer I've ever purchased and if I had more trouble with than the $20 washers from Goodwill that are 20+ years old. How ridiculous is that?!
Mine is three years old. Was always crazy loud and now does not spin long enough to drain the water! Junk! I definitely do not recommend GE now

Check the 8 pin connector to ensure all the wires are seated down

It seemed to work but over time it became intermittent that is when the connector was found

I replaced lock lid switch. Still no spin. It clicks, but will not spin. It fills, washes, drains, but just won't engage spin. Lock lid light does not come on. But does in service mode.
Usually best to replace the lid lock and the lid sensor located right next to it👍
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I have tested lid sensor, works fine. I noticed 1 relay on circuit board has small burn mark that the others don't. Also saw a video where guy replaced motor then spin worked. I don't think it's motor on this one. It works in agitate.

@ Scott. I have a GUD27GSSJOWW stackable GE WASHER DRYER. PRoblem !!! Washer starts to agitate in wash cycle, but stops immediately. One agitation to the left and it stops. on this same model. i have a stackable that when i place clothes in to begin wash. it fills up with water and it will begin to agitate for a split second and than the light begins to blink as if the machine was paused... what could that be?

would it still be the lid switch if the "wash" light is blinking not the "spin" light? it fills fine but wont agitate. when you press the start botten it like clicks then does nothing

theintellectualz11 put a light to where you can see in there and you'll see metal clips on both sides. Just dig them out of they're position to unlock them and get the door loose. Using a light helped me position my screwdriver where it needed to be.

Tried replacing lid switch, didn't fix my problem. Dug around and found how to read the diagnostics lights. Lights are showing a motor block.......checked for stuck clothes and what not and there aren't any. Reading that it could be the board. Any tips on how to tell if that's definitely the case?

put the unit into diagnostic mode clear the codes and try again. also could be a small tub seal leak has leaked into the supports bearings causing it to seize up. or water damaged rps sensor. but since we like to fix the easiest things first just try to clear the codes and re run a regular cycle

You might remove some of the rubber on the pads that cushion the lid closing.

Check the lid sensor and make sure the wires are connected properly - it's the white plastic piece just above the lid switch. Most likely culprit and easy fix.
I have these machines on my apartment complex. The pulley was broken so I replaced it. I adjusted the tension on the belt because the motor was pushed inwards towards the center of the tub. Once the motor begins to spin it immediately shuts off and the lid lock light stays on solid while spin flashes and won’t work anymore. I reset it and the same thing happens. Any thoughts? Would appreciate the help, GE has come out and no answers yet.

You should be able to get the part number off of the part. It will vary from one machine to another. Mine is WH44X10288. Look for WH, 1 or 2 digits, X, then up to 6 more digits.

Can you try turning off the breakers for your washer dryer and then turning them fully back on to see if that helps? Some of these machines used to breakers one of them may be not working.
I hope you still check this posting cause I have a problem. Today I was going to wash a load of clothes and everything was fine.....filled with water but then wouldn't start. I had NO lights. So fixing it the female way banging things I gave up. Shortly I heard the washer going and everything seemed to be fine. When I went back to put the clothes in the dryer, they were soaking wet. Again no lights.....no on, spin......nothing. Help!!!!

Yesterday I heard hard noice from motor bcoz couple of socks were stuck in pully and belt. I opened the front cover and cleaned but I noticed i tiny connector with blue and pink wires is disconnected from some where. Im trying since last night but couldn’t find the place where it supposed to be.

I got your advice. But now the big problem is that im not able to locate the place near motor where the speed sensor supposed to be.
THE FIX IS SIMPLER. Unkink the hose in the back. It’s not spinning because it can’t drain and it can’t drain because the hose is not how it should be, just wiggle the cord and it will start back working
My GE washing machine spins when it wants and dosent spin when it wants.
Also it goes from cycle to cycle in other words if i throw in a load of
laundry and go to work when I come home the washer is still washing.

I replaced the lid lock and it did not help.
When I set my load size on the left side (cottons) to Light, Med or Heavy and push start, you can hear the water start to fill and the top two lights will go green (On and Wash). Once the machine fills with water, the lights will then begin to flash.
If I spin the knob to "spin only" or "quick rinse" you can hear the water drain, the lid lock will activate and it will spin or rinse.
My question is, why will the machine not go through any full cycle without stopping and those top two lights flashing?
I even unplugged the whole machine for 2 minutes and opened and closed the lid 6+ times in 12 seconds...
Can anyone help?
