I met Princess Anne with my sister when I was 10 when she came to open the Scottish Police Memorial. Our dad (a police officer) had died the year before and we had been asked to present her with flowers. She spoke to us both and knew that I liked to play rugby. Hearing about how hardworking she is in this video makes total sense, and the effort she put in to be well briefed for each engagement.
Anne strikes me as someone who both enjoys her own company, and has all her life, but also relates excellently with people of every level, age and background, having great boundaries and a healthy sense of humour. I don't think she finds the centre of attention necessary to her very existence in the slightest. But instead in her steady self confidence and the confidence that her family has given her- is able to turn her own attention onto others- an incredibly necessary and healthy trait for a Royal person to have by nature.

There is always the Margarets, the Annes, in the royal family. The badass female figure who doesn't give a frick about all the bullcrap. Right now we can see it showing in Charlotte.
When her children were born, Zara and Philip, she told the Queen 'no titles for them'. Duke of Edinburgh chuckled and said that's Anne. Respect to Anne who would've continued the no nonsense, serious minded, order instilling, clear headed, action oriented, attention detailed, decorum respecting without the extraneous, proper attire, tradition inspiring, sensible shoes, hard working, dedicated, dutiful monarch and very British to boot. She is the last of her kind. She keeps an eye, like a hawk, on her mum, bless her. Charles has qualities but seems a tad feeble compared to his strong willed sister. Anne clearly has the qualities and the what it takes to fulfill the role.
I dont think this is true. Females can't pass titles to their children, that's why Beatrice and Euginie are princesses but Zara and Peter (not Philp) aren't.
Cart Wheel, hear hear. She would make a marvelous queen. Charles is just ok. Regardless which one is monarch, it's just ever so good Charles' younger son was born second. Don't even want to write his name.
Watching this after seeing Princess Anne in her 70s marching in uniform providing guard for her late mother the Queen’s final trip to Westminister. I was thinking “what a badass”. Had no idea that had been the story of her life, driving tanks, getting chucked from horses, matching wit with the press, traveling to remote corners of the globe, and being the voice for royals and commoners alike. Remarkable lady!

The Queen drove a Jeep and was a mechanic in the Second World War, Princess Anne has a Heavy Vehicle license, can drive a tank and shoot a machine gun! Talk about a chip off the old block!
Yes! The main reason Anne got a HGV license was to drive her horse boxes to and from competitions, but it does come in handy when you want to drive the odd tank now and then!
Can Prince Charles even dress himself? He needs staff to lay out clothes, dress him, shave him & press his shoelaces. Charles does nothing without a Valet.
Princess Anne can stop an armed kidnapper in their tracks She just says NO I won't get out of the car 👊🇬🇧 He didn't know what to do with that 😁🇦🇺 Brave woman our Anne
The fact that the press were more interested in what her attitude to the press was and her outfits instead of the good work she does is there fault not hers. I have a lot of respect for her.
She is the epitome of the greatness of British people, and of a British woman, created from the Celtic warriors and rulers as much or more as from the later Anglo-saxon strain, that contributed its part also..Why I think she would be an excellent ruler, if she wanted the job at this point in her life,--in these difficult times where steadfast humanoitarian vision and absolute honesty are called for.
I specifically feel for the Princess Royal following the loss of her Mother. She is also 'Anne the Constant', someone that Her Majesty could always rely on to get 'the girl stuff' done, but without being girly about it. She's one tough cookie on the outside, but she is grieving deeply on the inside - and she bears it so well. Her mother would be so proud of her - and so are we. She's a wonderful role model for all the women of the UK, the Commonwealth, and all the World. We salute you, Princess Anne! ❤️
I agree. the mother-daughter relationship is a unique, best friend, can talk about anything, relationship - not always, but many times. so close. and such a wrench when it ends I feel for her too. AND, I WISH SHE WAS QUEEN! so unfair
Princess Anne , with all she did for the United Kingdom non- stopped , The Princess Royal deserved as the reigning Monarch In this Magnificent United Kingdom. She is the Role Model all around. Thank you!!🤙.
I feel so bad for her especially because when her husband has cheated and has even gone as far as to fathered a child with another woman, everyone turned a blind eye on that but when she cheats due to her feeling unloved by her husband, everyone suddenly becomes alert
@@beantrader4723 Interesting that you don’t mention Susan Mannakee, Diane de Waldner de Freundstein or Julia Carling, the wives of the men Diana had affairs with. Who exactly are you referring to in Anne’s case?

Whoops I hit send to soon. I do think she'd been the best choice for next in line but Charles is 2nd best After her bcuz Andrew is way more about himself, his title etc. Not his country for sure.
I think Charles should step down, like the coming former king, who did it for love! If Charles love Camilla so much so he mistreated Diana, I think that he should give it to the next one instead!
I think she is magnificent, and would have been a wonderful Queen. She has always been one of my favorite Royals. I admire her work ethic, and commitment to duty, but also her no nonsense attitude, her strength, and her sense of humour ❤️ May she be with us for many more years

Depends. Anne actually had medal prospects. That's like saying Usain Bolt not winning an Olympic medal is a good result for him. She competed to win, not to participate
You win a medal if you come in the top of your event (or your team does if it's a team event) she won medals in various 3 day eventing competitions but not an Olympic one.
Princess Anne just endeared herself even more with the British public with her remarkable and steadfast showing at her Majesty’s funeral and mourning period. Never leaving her mother’s side. What gratitude and strength she demonstrated. 👏👏👏
Princess Anne has demonstrated all of the dignity and class of her mother! My admiration for Princess has grown exponentially since Queen Elizabeth II’s death! Princess Anne does her mother proud!
@@shahniwiki2298 I believe it impossible to know if she would have wanted it had she been born under the current rules of inheritance and had she been firstborn. I believe it inevitable that if you are told you will never get something, and you believe that statement - you try to not want it. No one likes being denied something you want. So learning early that she could not be made queen and as strong and independent as she is - it is natural she just made a different life for herself.

Princess Anne would not want to be Queen (which is a major qualification for the job), but if circumstances brought her to the position she would be outstanding at the job.
She may be queenly in spirit, but she is way back in the line of succession. Lots of people are queenly in bearing or spirit who will never be Queen of England.
I see Anne as another rf phony-baloney who can kick her nephew & his wife in the teeth by ignoring and shunning them one day and go out the next in fron of cameras to pretend she cares about a bunch of strangers at another booze party, uh doody.
What an amazing woman! I had never heard of all Princess Anne has done in the world. Her tomboy nature and love of animals makes her a bit of a kindred spirit. I think she would’ve made a Queen the UK could be extremely proud of. I have a lot of respect for Princess Anne, an excellent Ambassador for England. ❤️
Indeed! A remarkable and down to earth woman. Their are many views of The Royal Family, both good and bad. There are not so many who could chuck a tomato Anne's way. She lives in and with integrity, surrounded by many who would not even comprehend the word. Much to admire about Anne. CJx
Not only the UK could have been proud of Anne if she had become Queen, but the entire Commonwealth too. Sadly long established traditions prevent a girl - like Anne, to be Queen while she has any brothers. Time to break with tradition otherwise another drip will become King or Queen.
REGAL is Anne, inspired of the creepy behaviour and history of her extended family. Wonder how long it will take for the general populace to cotton on to that. Hi from Australia. CJ
I love that she told her attempted kidnapper, when he told her to get out of the car, "Not bloody likely!". It was a serious incident, four people were shot. She showed immense courage.
First time I am aware of this, or maybe I heard when I was young and forgot. Thanks for bringing this to the forefront. Actions speak louder than words. How does Anne manage herself in a life threatening Situation? She remains calm and deploys courage. Wonder what other individuals would have done, given similar life/possible death experience. She earned respect.
What do Kings or Queens do, how they are different than Normal Human beings, why call themselves Royal who make those words Kingdom Kings Queens Royalty I don't understand what is the meaning of all these, and in the history of the Human beings there are always those of people in community who call themselves Kingdom, but why and what rights do they have that make them that they are higher and they call them your Highness In what way do they become they're Royalty and I have friend call himself King,
Well, they don't like her because she has brains and skills and a badass to boot! She was just true to herself and doesn't try to pretend who she wasn't. Not a lot of people has that kind of character. Perhaps the press would look deeper and avoid the hollow gloss. I admire Diana but Princess Anne has the most fortitude.
I have to agree with you. Diana has the sympathy votes but as a woman, Anne is someone I’d look up too more so. Anne grew up in the environment which made her more tactful.
she could've easily been more beautiful more glamorous than Princess Diana, but she clearly wasn't that type (not that i dislike Diana). My point is Princess Ann was just as physically beautiful, however, she chose instead to focus on taking more seriously the legacy of royal duty that was entrusted to her family which is showing empathy and compassion for all under the British crown - She's a perfect addition to her Parents extraordinary legacy of duty, grace and charities. And the press are just a superficial network of embittered, relentlessly cruel sensationalists with a bought and paid for agenda who should've been more understanding and impartial. I hope more people become aware to NOT allow the Press to influence their perspective of other people and important subjects regarding our globe.
I really have no problem with Charles, but Anne would have been a wonderful queen. She appears controlled, structured, strong, thoughtful and very disciplined. She seems to be a good role model for young women or for young people in general.
Princess Anne daddy's girl. She has same wit like Prince Philip. Single-minded, sporty and brave. She is unafraid of controversy and cares little for the opinion of others.
IreneMy why you say that she is great off.Is a great princess we don’t know what she’s been like as a queen because she can’t be a queen or sisters queen God bless the Queen
She is the perfect combination of her father and mother.. I believe she would be an excellent Queen. No matter she is a dedicated server of the crown. Love her💜
And then, exactly 20 years later, in 1989 whilst working at Argyle Diamonds, I was told I’d been selected to spend “4 minutes” with the Princess Royal for a “chat” I was told to refer to her as Ma’am in this instance. Of course I fucked up, and said hello your Royal highness 🫣 !! Princess Anne put me at ease instantly, I’ll never forget how quickly she made me feel like an old friend,. After the allotted 4 minutes, her lady in waiting and bodyguards got bored and wandered off, and we ( The Princess Royal and I) actually spent 35 minutes alone in my diamond cutting room to just chat ! She pulled up a chair and we just talked, about everything… she asked me about the differences were between living in England, South Africa and Australia ? We spoke a lot about this question, because she was clearly interested in my answer. She was absolutely amazing ! I felt like a teenager at a Beatles concert 🤷🏼♂️❤️
I agree and Princess Royal is so much more. She's nonpartisan, she doesn't seek attention, she put her children's lives first before a title, she honors, respects, and loves her family's ancestry and traditions, she is herself and is a great role model.
No chance of her being a monarch. Charles is the oldest. His by right of succession. She may have Queenly attributes, but I think she knew from an early age that being a monarch was never in her future.
@@stvandy1 yes, i agree. She does have characteristics of a queen but even if she was able to maintain being the monarch before her younger brothers, she would still never be monarch because of P.C and the 4 Cambridges.
It was the same with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's children. Their oldest, Vicki, was the outgoing one, and Bertie, who became king, was the total opposite.
Queen Victoria son Bertie, who took the regnal name Edward 7th was very much an outgoing life enjoying man. He enjoyed lavish parties and cheated around very much. His 2nd son though who ascended after him had the more strict and formal personality.
I was going to say the Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment would be close to her heart. Princess Anne would make a great leader of any army regiment 😉. She would kick a$$ and hold people accountable, I have a great deal of respect for Princess Anne
Her wedding is far more meaningful and beautiful than everyone else's in the royal family. Too bad this is first time I heard of her, nonetheless, I'm glad I found this. Lot's of respect ❤️
Anne’s reaction to the press is right on. They are obnoxious, ask intrusive, stupid questions, and most celebrities tolerate it all out of self survival. They don’t want negative press, and she could care less. Refreshing I think.
I agree that she should be queen! I don't think Queen Elizabeth was thinking her at the time. She sure deserves it more that that Queen consort! She's much more intelligent!

She is imposing yet, compassionately connected where she’s needed most. Her deep reverent curtsy before her mothers standard draped coffin was dramatically touching..

I'm a Kiwi, I adore Princes Anne she is a remarkable lady who has spent her life tirelessly working in the background for the people and received very little recognition for it, protected her families privacy.
Anne has never promoted herself, always charity or the causes and has always been a great support for her family. She is a real princess I am so glad that the focus is back on the royal great work. And not like when the press was obsessed with Diana's dress or hair. Princess Anne, King Charles and Queen Camilla are working so hard, they have more than 300 events each in a year
"Respect than affection"...Princess Anne, a true humanitarian & strong woman. She was not a media magnet because she knew that journalists are still grasping, commercial, self-aggrandizing superficial fools.
I, one hundred per cent, approve ANN as a QUEEN, she has shown to the world the strongest that she is, and the Queen's strength is completely reflected in her. Her Brothers have not absorb the Royal spirit as she completely does... Queen Elizabeth II rest in peace!!!
While that would be WONDERFUL, she can’t. The Perth Agreement, which among other things replaces male preference primogeniture with absolute primogeniture, wasn’t adopted until 2011. If her grandfather, father and older brother die tomorrow, Princess Charlotte would become Queen.

It’s just a generational thing. An insult to say she was the Diana of her day. Quite the opposite. Anne lives a low key life, supports the real people, commoners. She lives simply and without hangers-on such as clothes designers and self promoting folk. She really is an individual and a proper legend.
Short memory. Both HRH Princess Anne and her aunt Princess Margaret were notorious for their occasionally "scandalous" marriages, divorces and affairs , back in the day. Anne has somewhat "mellowed" over time and Margaret is dead. But not to worry. The Royal Family now has Meghan Markle to follow in the "scandalous" footsteps of Diana, Fergie, et. al. .
@@joncrane7661 Agree- ,I wrote she has mellowed over time. But she had her "paparazzi moments" when she was younger. Diana died young so she never had the chance to outlive her youthful "scandals".

I'm impressed with Anne's humility, strength and ambition. She's a no nonsense person, and yes, she would be a great Queen.
yeah, how much of that does Anne have with all her sexual affairs with married men, including getting it on with Camilla's husband, Andrew??
@@beantrader4723 Yes, I've heard that ! Anne had many boyfriends. One of them was married. I thought she was a virgin like Diana when she married...
Yeh her infidelity makes her a great example 🙄

"She doesn't tolerate fools." No WONDER she looked like she didn't really want to be standing next to Nixon!
Actually, of the two, Nixon was the more intelligent. Nixon was in fact an extremely intelligent man. Way above anything the British Royal Family has ever produced. Fact.
@@RobRoyBoaz lol! How to make a fool of yourself!

@@RobRoyBoaz was clever, yes, however Watergate show that all that intelligence was not being use for good
And Erin Doherty totally nails her in The Crown. In my humble opinion, she most resembles the character being played by any of them thus far.
The real Princess Anne, on tour in Canada, told my husband he was 'Cute', and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
He was 8 years old and it was 1970, he said she was pretty and friendly, seemed like a nice person!
This is sooo funny, just yesterday my partner referred to someone as, "he's a hick!", I said, "what's a hick?"
...... I had plussed your comment first and then saw your name.
She was pretty! Like her mum.
@@freyamckenzie5583 We laugh ourselves when we use the word 'Hick'
Even funnier is when other people will be talking and make a comment along the line of, "They are a bunch of hicks" then they feel the need to explain and apologize! 😄
Hey Bossman pop
I don't know how many know what an excellent and talented equestrienne she was! She rode in the Olympics and quietly made a place for herself in history! Unlike her siblings, she made it her business to keep out of the spotlight as much as possible, except for her exceptional riding abilities. She earned that!
Great lady. Phil
nah, she was lousy at keeping all her torrid affairs out of the public's eye.
The Royal Family now has Meghan Markle to follow in the "scandalous" footsteps of Diana, Fergie, et. al. .
@@Frank-mm2yp scandal then and now are quite different. Anne on the whole seems a well adjusted individual.
@@Frank-mm2yp Diana wasn't without scandal she was a known to manipulate the press to suit herself
@@buticks6388 AGREE.'"Royal Women" have been "scandalous" for a very long time.
@@joncrane7661 Agree- ,I wrote she has mellowed over time. But she had her "paparazzi moments" when she was younger. Diana died young so she never had the chance to outlive her youthful "scandals".
I'm glad to see that it's not just me who thinks Anne is monarch material.
Obviously, I don't know a thing about how Princess Anne would see the former Duchess of Sussex. But Princess Anne seems to be a no nonsense woman. And Nutmeg is all about nonsense! No loss to Princess Anne that Nutmeg is gone and in the USA. Probably sad for Ginger boy the Prince, but no loss to UK with Nutmeg gone. And the former royals just continue to be complete idiots!

I added Save the Children to my charitable giving list when the Princess Royal became their patron. They have very low overhead costs. 93% of STC's funds go directly to relief and development.
She and Princess Sirindhorn of Thailand, I admire them very much. Humble, highly capable, smart, compassionate, and workaholic/industrious princesses who should very well be the queens of their respective countries.
Princess Royal is my favourite Royal. A no-nonsense person committed to her duties for the Queen to Country and RF. She deserves to be recognised for her selfless devotion to the charities she is Patron of.
❤️
I think your right here....
i love Princess Ann's wedding dress,' the pearls around the neckline and the drooping arms. She has been under-rated, i love her personality
I am a foreigner, and have only seen the Royals on TV.
Princess Anne"s style of walking and answering questions says so much about who she actually is. Looks like she doesn't stop for anyone. She definitely could make a great Queen.
Businesslike but has walked the walk
Everyone is talking about where the Queen’s jewelry goes and no one mentions Anne. She should be #1 for many reasons. ❤
Queens jewelry must absolutely go to Princess Anne as the Queens daughter. Glad I found this documentary.
Luckily it appears there's plenty jewelry to go around.
@@mindapinlac2384 Queen's jewelry needs to stay in the line of the king and queen

Met her once briefly - handed me my degree at the Royal Albert Hall - was in awe - shes regal and came over as very in control and accomplished.
Princess Anne is just....Princess Anne. Not interested in being anybody else. A woman who minds her own business and loves to SERVE. What a phenomenal woman. Extremely hardworking.
I can understand that sentiment, that she would rather have RESPECT THAN AFFECTION FROM OTHERS. Respect is a very vital thing, and without it everything is so much harder. Respect is empowering. To me, she seems like a very admirable woman.
I admire how steadfast she has been by her mother’s side since her death. She in an excellent example for all royals
Hello Catherine how are you doing today and your family wishing you a prosperous New year 🎉🎉🎂
HRH Anne is a very splendid human being. Long live the Princess Royal.
I’ve always liked Anne. She’s a no non-sense woman. She’s very committed to her work and her charities. Anything she’s set out to do, she’s accomplished. You go girl! 😊
@James Hama doing well thank you
@James Hama America 🇺🇸. Things are about the same here as in most countries with all this pandemic & hyperinflation. I’m doing well, though.
That's what the wives say about how she stole their husbands from them. Picked clean to the bone.
The actress who play Anne in the Crown looks remarkably like Anne.
I agree.
I found the casting for the Crown to be pretty good!
True
Princess Anne is her Mother's daughter. She is just like her in all ways. She would have carried on her Mother's legacy beautifully.
Yes She Would Have.
Thank you for introducing Anne, Princess of England...so nice to find out she's a hard working, caring woman...
You could see so clearly how proud the Queen and the Duke were when she won the 1st place prize!

😍
I have a friend who was part of the Royal Police bodyguard squad, and the stories he told of Princess Anne and how she treated everyone equally are astounding, when compared to how the rest of her siblings and younger royals act toward anyone they deem as "lower" than them.
Paul Todd That doesn’t surprise me. Colin Tebbutt, who worked protecting several royals including Diana, recently said she was the best to work for and said she was “100%.” Id love to hear some of your friend’s stories! Would you know any offhand? ☺️
@@laduchesse9402 Well, between you an me only, on her first night of their honeymoon, Captain Mark Phillips was seen fleeing naked from her bedroom at the Palace, followed by Princess Ann, wearing only riding boots and wielding a riding crop, shouting "Get back in here, you cowardly bastard!" Well done. You educated this American about someone she knew nothing about.
.Truly respect this woman for holding her own, charting her course and being true to herself and her position.
I was very touched seeing her at the Vigil of the Princes. Her emotion was palpable but, her honor to her Queen, her duty as an officer and Titled Royal kept her under control. I wanted to know more about this strong, devoted, loving daughter whom I knew nothing about except her name which brought me to this video.
Her beauty in youth and her not falling into that lavish designer posh image and lifestyle but, rather devoting herself to the military and her less "glamorous" Charities and a very strenuous devotion to service as a Royal shows a woman who would have made a great Queen (as her mother.)
Blessings and thank you to Princess Anne for being a great role model in women's history among her many successes.
She needs to be Queen, right ?
@@shopsshire9282 She doesn't want to be Queen.
I don't make the rules.
I do think of most Royals she is the most prepared, best character and most devoted. She would make her mother proud.
It is not her birthright.
Yes I finally get to meet Anne I too was my fathers first born daughter ( Tom Boy) horses, machines the bigger the better, tools in hand at five under the car with my dad. Alas he forbid me to enlist in the service. Being who I am got a job as a technician for all military employed contractor only woman in the building that wasn't a secretary. I loved horses as well had two and would go and exercise the neighbors horses. Learned to fist fight for self defense taught to me by my uncle and my dad. I thoughly appreciate her strong work ethic as my father raised me as well to have. Only woman in the USA to run a high temperature evaporator ; over saw the crew in blend room and cooling tower operations as well as the boiler, I worked 6-7 days per week 12 hour shifts. Put myself through 4 years college non stopped and took extra courses to get my monies worth. First to be as an artist to be accepted in the science illustration program at UCSC design for biology majors. I tell young people push yourself you might be surprised at what you can do I am a person that never have known what no means just keep knocking at that door because even if you hear no one day they might say yes. It is determination that companies hire you for not what you can do but the williness to try and give it your all. Anne gave it her all now and always. Hip hip hurray 👍 We are close in age maybe that is the similarity. I still haven't slow down never will not afraid to try anything new . Swinging hammers and working on cars and machinery. Keep on trucking Anne.
To add to ‘dogcatfamily,’ the Perth Agreement of 1799(?) was officially adopted in 2011, too late to benefit Princess Anne.
It replaced male preference primogeniture with absolute primogeniture, meaning that the first-born, regardless of gender, would become King/Queen.
But both of her parents said, “it’s too bad Anne isn’t a boy, she’d make a much better ruler than her older brother.’

There is a tremendous difference between being haughty and dignified. Princess Anne is not haughty, she is a royal. Being dignified and graceful is her job, and luckily who she is. I am not British, anyway.
What does Princess Anne mean, "I am not British, anyway?"
dignified? Tell that one to the wives whose husbands Anne stole then tossed.
The Princess Royal has and continues to be a wonderful example of selfless service.
Even at 70 years of age Princess Anne Has so much youth in her beautiful face. She is quite the Royal Lady. Thank you for sharing this amazing documentary.
She's my favourite royal, she's a character, humble and caring and what a beautiful woman she was when she was young.
I admire Princess Anne for her dedication to her inherited role and her duty to the
BRF, the country of England and the nation of the U.K . She seems to have been
gifted with the best traits from both the Queen and Prince Philip.
I kept hearing "she can be snappy, she can reduce grown men to tears" a bit of harsh take on a woman who actually just is practical and honest,,,,honestly I didnt see her reducing any man to tears,,,, what I saw, instead, was a woman who was recognizing the hard working men who were soldiers and going in, alongside of them as a way to shine a spotlight on them,,,the dimwitted lazy press doesnt know how to think outside the box to see anyone's worth, so they chracterized, or rather satitrized her instead of appreciating her
Striking yesterday during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral how resolute Princess Anne appeared. While appearances aren’t everything, Anne looked the superior of all her siblings especially King Chuck who looks perpetually uncomfortable.
She and I are close in age. I grew up a small town farm girl in Michigan, USA and was totally enthralled with her, voraciously reading any snipit about her. She has intrigued me for many years, I admire Princess Anne wholeheartedly!
