    Today's word of the day is 'scathing'.
    Scathing is an adjective.
    Scathing means criticizing somebody or something in a very strong way.
    The adverb is ‘scathingly’.
    Scathing first appeared in English in 1794.
    Some example sentences are:
    ‘The critic's review of the film was scathing, leaving no aspect of the production uncriticized.’
    ‘Her scathing remarks during the meeting left everyone in shock and silence.’
    ‘The journalist wrote scathingly about the government's handling of the crisis.’
