I forgot your name tutorial presenter, but you are awesome. You should be the #1 person to do tutorials and walkthroughs. I love your attitude, and the way you present ideas just makes me happy. You should be given this position for all up coming tutorials and given a triple increase in pay!
Hopefully Studio One will soon provide an option to snap incoming midi to the Chord track, so that the user can already know what the result will be while playing/recording.
You have seen that when you have a scale defined on the piano Roll, Studio One locks the note. But it would be interesting to have the option of not blocking as well, so if it does not block, studio one colors it bright red, or leaves you an observation. So I have control of the passing notes and my chords. It would also be interesting to place the options of chords, triads, sevenths etc. as has cubase. Studio One is the future !!! (15 months with Ableton Live 10 and 6 months with FL Studio .... to the garbage can) ... 2 months with Studio One and I love it ... the difference makes the future. Thank you
Hi Gregor. Some how i am not getting this to work. I drag the instrument to the chordtrack And then when i click on the chord key it remains the same even if i change it to another chord From C to D the key shows but nothing else happends. Do i manualy have to change the chords as well?
Is there a tutorial on how to set up instruments like impact sample one to follow the cord track? Because I have both those instruments full of sound sample presets but when I go to use the chord track follow it jus switches sounds not the actual tone of the sound.
I know this is an old post, but just like I am just seeing this video, someone else may see it and have same question. The simple answer to this is this cannot be done with Impact XT as it currently is without a lot of pre-planning . The pads in impact are mapped to specific midi notes. For example, the default for the bottom left pad is usually C1. The chord track is going to trigger based on what note is mapped to pad, rather than the sound itself, even of that sound is melodic rather than percussive. In theory, you might be able to map your samples according to dominant pitch of sample ( like mapping variations of same loop pitched to different keys) to the corresponding pitch pad is mapped to, but those results would be weird and not what you probably want. You might get better results with sampleone but there would still be quirks since outside of mapped one shots or samples that are mapped as a pitched instrument are going to behave differently than loops. Imo, you would have better success either: 1) building song around sample in desired key, printing out track and then extracting chords for other instruments to follow or 2) Do as Gregor did and then tune the samples to match progression in your template . Hope that made sense. There may be another way, but I can't think of it in a way that fits perfectly with this workflow.
Hi Lemmypower, have you double checked that you have chord follow enabled for the tracks you want to transpose, that chord track is set to "On", and that you've drawn in a section in the chord track where you want the transpose to happen? -GBY
good tutorial, thanks Gregor! In any tutorial on chord tracks in S1 there is never a demonstration of how to enter multiple chords in one measure. Or how to assign them rhythmically. My comment can be understood as a suggestion ;)
I want to use this feature, the problem is that once I have it properly edited I would like to commit to it, but it keeps changing. I mean, I use it to play in rhythm and let it do the voicing. Then I correct the voicing (inversions and basses don't work very good) to my taste. I would like this to be definitive, How can I make it not affected by the chord track anymore but with the notes? It's annoying that it keeps changing with the minimum moviment (because it doesn't work very well with inversion or complex chords). However, it's a really good feature to keep the feeling of the playing when you're not as good as keyboard player :P
Hi Arturo, select the events you don't want to have transposed further by the Chord Track, right click and select "Freeze Pitch"" found under "Musical Functions". Next, right click the Track that contains these events and then select "Duplicate Track". This will duplicate just the Instrument Track itself, but not the Instrument it is actually triggering. Finally, move all the Events you don't want to have transposed anymore to this Track. Any notes on this Track will now be safe from further changes caused by the Chord Track - and they also won't get transposed back to their original value as you move them to the new Track, because you froze the pitches first. I hope that helps! -GBY
@@presonus So I could have two tracks pointing to the same instrument, one for following the chord track and the other not. Then, everytime I have something right with the chord track, I can freeze the pitch and move the event from the chord-following one to the other track. I'll try! Thank you very much!
Gracias
I'm desperately waiting to be able to drag a chord from the chord track to a midi vst instrument. Like cubase allows. Also from the chord track. A built in chord progressions presets, so simply able to drag into a midi vst and use for easy song ideas. Come on presonus Studio One is the best daw, make it much better with this simple update request :)

Gregor lol
😂 😂 I was dying when you said , “ This helps me stay disciplined so I don’t end up writing another melodic trance banger “ 🤣
This kind of tutorial is simply a gift to mankind !!! Kudos !
Wow - what a great writing tool - Thanks Gregor for taking the time to explain it
I bought Studio One Professional after watching this video.
Please ad Chord Suggestions to the Chord Track 👏👏👏
I really enjoy Gregor as host!
That is disrespectful!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Awesome. I’m having trouble having a loop follow the chord track. I drag in to the track but it has its original key, how can I fix this? Thank you
This is amazing. Really good tip to start song ideas in Studio One. Thanks.
Another awesome video, thank you Gregor!

Sorry, I know this is old video, but I think it is still relevant. Do the Note FX follow the chord track?
This is great for overcoming creative slumps or mental blocks. Thanks
Baytown Studio thanks so much! 🙏 -GBY
Just to be sure the bass and the lead are following the chord progression as well right? Not only the pad?
They are
Please how did you duplicate and merge the 2 copy together 🙏

Is there access to the chord track? In other words: Can I copy and paste the chord track into a VST like Session Guitarist?
when is the Chord Track going to be added to Artist?
Can I convert a MIDI event into a pattern event? Like e.g. after you recorded the drums?
Yes, you can, both ways. Since Studio One 4.6, I believe.
something that it is not clear, with the chord track, the chords are given by the root automatically?
interesting deleting everything at the end lol. One question: when you have the wheel out, does SO puts the chords you can use automatically?
Do you have a tutorial on Time aligning LIVE Bass Guitar tracks ie: DI and mic'd Amp?

Me acaba de explotar la caveza. esto es Genial!
And this complies with Studio One 5.5.0 recently bought???
Awesome video 👍 thanks!
Thank you Denis! -GBY
Thanks Gregor..Great video again..My only problem is nothin happens? It´s just playing the same cord. Has something been changes in 4.6?

This is so awesome! I'm going to try it!
Melodic Trance Banger detour!
great thanks helped a lot
Amazing, thanks Gregor
Are you stepping through in the audition
Hi DNA3e8, yes indeed! When audition is enabled, selecting the chord section will play the preview from an instrument of your choice. -GBY
good tutorial, thanks Gregor!
