Gregor provides the best Studio One tutorial videos by far. No fluff, no misinformation, simply concise detail. Most every other reviewer, or instructor could learn to do the same. Big thanks to him!
Meh. He's a little sloppy and always skips something necessitating you to go back. I think the best is Marcus Huyskens. After him Tim Talks is very thorough. And Quanta is excellent although may need to upgrade some of his older videos. Thank god we have them. I really think PreSonus needs to up their game with instructional videos. Don't even get me started with that guy Joe!
Once again you should lead with this is only available in Professional. Even the manual doesn't tell you! I'm looking all over the place for something I don't have!
Would be great to inform the viewers what software version is necessary for this tutorial. I'm just using the artist version since years and watch a lot of your studio one tutorials. But when I try to implement the new skills I often realize that this is simply not possible without an upgrade. That's frustrating.
Has S1 v6 changed? I cannot find the FOLLOW MODES anywhere in any of the Inspector views... cannot see how to choose a follow mode. V6 does not look at all like this video does... is it hidden somewhere?
The chord track was the original reason that I chose Studio One to pay for, but I can't seem to find an answer on this. Studio 6 doesn't work the same way, apparently?
I'm using Studio One 4.6 and I can't get the chord track to do anything other than appear. I've clicked every option and still nothing. Pretty disappointing.
You CAN select the whole chord track by holding SHIFT and DOUBLE CLICKING on the chord track and dragging it to a new MIDI track. This also works great for dragging to a VST like Session Guitarist.
Wow this was a game changing video! These are fantastic features, and all the more reason why I want to make the full switch to Studio One!! Lots of gems in this video! Please keep making great tutorials like these!
Gregor, thank you so much for doing this video, it is the only one you will need to get you going with drum programming. Now I can get to work without that taxing time it takes to do it the old fashioned way of trial and error, and THEN reading the instructions. I appreciate you guys over at Presonus and you must love UA-cam too for their part in this as well.......THANK YOU GUYS!!!!!
Just an update for those who can’t find the Chord Track button in Studio One 5, as shown in this old video. There is just one button in that area now and it’s called Global Track Visibility. Click on that button and you’ll see Ruler, Marker, Arranger, Chords, Signature and Tempo. This frustrated me as a new user. I hope it helps someone out there.
Hello, I am using Akg headphones while i am recording and mixing after that when i listen from my computer or phone the sound is not the same with headphones.Like not only eq, compressor vs. Every little detail like panning, or just the level of sound is a mess and different from headphones. How can i fix this ? Please help.Thank you 🙏
Does Sphere have chord track and scratch pad? Or is key signature the equivalent? For the life of me I am not able to find anything in sphere but can find them in My S1 Professional. Also no matter how many times i download the manual or f1 help/ integrated help itll always say not downloaded. what a headache
Be very nice to be able to drag and drop a chord from chord track, straight onto a midi track.... like in cubase. Perhaps a thing to do in a "near" future program update ;)
Yes James I agree this chord track is cool but what would really be impressive is all these chords converted to Nashville number system within studio one for the musicians who don't read music
You don't need to read music to know notes and chords. Two different things my man. There are only seven letters in music. A B C D E F G and the sharps and flats of them. On guitar for example, standard tuning from Low to High is (E A D G B E) if you play the open E note on the low E...the next note, or the 1st fret or "1" on the E string if the note F. "2" on the E string is F# and 3 is G. Between notes B and C and E and F are what is called a natural whole step, meaning you go up only a half step but tonally speaking it's a whole step. It's illustrated on the piano very well by looking at the black and white keys. Black keys being sharps and flats and the white keys being all the natural notes. I barely read music at all but in order to play music and write it well you really do need to at least learn the notes and where they are in order to build more complex pieces. I'd be happy to work with you online here and there when I have some free time if you are interested in learning more about music.
I had been doing exactly what is shown at the beginning of the video and nothing happened after a chord track is created. Dragging in the chord track channel doesn't work. I have to double click, Windows 10 Studio One 4.5
fantastic channel, well done. A question: If you have a chord of 3 notes and you want to change the velocity in one of the three notes what do you do??For example I want the bass note to sound not so loud as the othe two notes of the chord...how do I change the velocity of that without affecting the velocity of the other two notes of the chord????
Hi George, simply hold down option + command on a Mac, or ctrl + alt on Windows and hover your mouse over the note you wish to adjust. Then drag up and down to adjust its velocity. The velocity of unselected notes will remain unaffected. -GBY
@@presonus maybe you could do a video that you make music with Kontakt and midi with mouse and help showing all the tricks. Also I have a problem with midi map of Get Good Drums..how I should make it or is there somewhere to find it?
This is missing one important info - how does S1 know what's the ORIGINAL chord of the event to then transpose it correctly? Does it use the key & scale info in event editor for that?
So I have an issue. It all worked but then for some reason, when I opened the Song the next day it gave me the error message "Chords Selector - No Chords selected". I created an entirely new song just to test it and it just simply does not follow the chords I set! Even though the track is set to "follow" and "Parallel". Why??? I rewatched this video like 5 times!
Hi Monika, that sounds odd. Could you perhaps upload a screenshot of that chord track "error message" should it appear again? Also, more importantly - could you please upload the .song file of the new song project that you've set up to test the chord track? I'm sure we can get to the bottom of this really quickly then. -GBY
a chord track applies key changes to all tracks that have a chord follow mode activated. it is a non-destructive & selective tool to apply key changes to both MIDI AND Audio. -GBY
Maybe Presonus could make a video showing what features DO NOT WORK in the Artist version for those of us who are too broke to upgrade? Or start selling these kings of gestures as add-ons? It's ironic that Artists would need a chord track more than Pros who can afford it.
thanks for the video. I have SO 3.5 and was wondering whether this function warranted an upgrade for my usage. Can you only have one chord per bar. what about chords just before beat etc. cheers
Hi Gregor. Thank you for this is good video. But, without chord inversions Chord Track function is a plastic toy and no more. Professionals use chords inversions a lot in their projects. And if we talking about Chord Track, this is feature must have built-in chord inversion functionality.
But there is a but, Resulution are far to bad. Next start to make a explanation of your gear - thanks - latency - hard to se what you are doing. Next - your video are gooood, but your are going to fast - like you want to finish before your even started. Else ok - but slow down - and better graphics Thanks
I have studio one artist 5.5. Does it have this feature or do I need to upgrade? I can't find that feature in my version.

Same here =)
I have Sphere/professional and at 1:12 my notes are not shifting. I can't figure it out. It simply doesn't work when I change chords

i finally bit the bullet and upgraded to sphere.. i was on studio one 3 and now i pay $16.02/mo for sphere.. definitely worth it
Exactly I feel scammed
You need a scale mode for midi, like scale assistant in Cubase!
1:16 I have a problem: The notes are not shifting to specified chord ... I have Studio One 5.1. .... I followed your instructions...nothing happens
The “Follow …..” mode not in the same place on tracks, what happened? Studio One 6 Pro

Thank you for all of these tutorial Gregor. Since I got my Atom SQ, the more I use Studio One the more I love it. You're doing a great job guys!
I just got a studio 24c and I’m loving using Studio One. Learning little bits each day, I came from using Cubase prior.
Nice one. Not tried any of this yet. Will give it a go...

Working 4 years with Studio One now, and I didn't know this at all 😆 On the other hand, I spend my time making music. That's some excuse 😁
