Just installed this today. Thanks for your easy to follow video regarding the install. Was a piece of cake.
that is awesome... it fits with the minimal aesthetic of the car and only gives what's needed... I'm definitely getting one of these
Not really a HUD though. Just a minimal instrument display. A HUD is something in your eye line you look through. I find the ventilation poor enough in the 3 without blocking some of the flow.
My friend was called Hud Hudson, both his first and second name was Hudson. Also he was the FIRST of 8 kids, and so it wasnt like they couldnt think of an original name.
@@doop6995 In my country there are people called Egbert Egberts. And Jan Jansen.
Very cool small screen. Easy to set up as well. I'll get one for my wife's Y.
This is exactly what I wanted. Thanks for the video.
Excellent work! Love it!
Thanks for reviewing accessories!
I’ve been using this for a month now and I love it. It just works while maintaining the minimalist design of the Model 3.
Does it block or restrict air flow to the driver?
@@oof_Dad good question. I think by nature they all redirect the airflow technically, because the air is forced to move around it. I have found that this one blocks the air that can hit your nose if you had your vent focused directly on your face. You can redirect some of your air manually to still have it you on the face and even part of your nose if you place it just a hair left of what appears to be perfect center. I think the unit is about 3.5” long, so maybe you could simulate the effect by placing something that length right in front of the wheel to get an idea what it may be like for you?
Hey man. Did you notice a difference with battery consumption?????
@@RacexEV Not at all. It’s been just the same.
I still think aesthetics is a very stupid priority for something as safety-critical as driving a car.
That is a great little display!
Wow, just learned about auto-open doors from this video. That’s crazy awesome. Expensive, but pretty neat it’s an option.
That's was cool this video is a save. I am due to pick up my Model 3 next Saturday.
Love it!
Super cool…might actually do this one.
Does this affect the arflow, seeing as its right in the middle of your vent?
what would be nice is a folding display like the CarPlay ones but can manually fold flat to get airflow. or maybe a shroud around the display that would redirect the airflow
Do you have the video of how to change the front panel by AC? the wood pannel or white one standrad that comes with Tesla? Also did you install the spoiler for model Y? if you did which 1. thx
that's a perfect stuff !! thanks for sharing !
It looks like you've tried all the displays. The one main feature I'm looking for is notifications to grab the wheel when auto steer is in use. do any of them have that?
Oh yes, now we are cooking. Was waiting for Josh Wardels micro display, but doesn't look like he is making more of them.
Thank you.
Wondering how this will hold up when running the heat in your car
Great device... Would installing this device void or interfere with the vehicle's warranty?
wow that is actually great!!
dude the 3 inches part was hilarious! great HUD btw ... this is the one that I may actually buy!
How did you get the connectors to fit on the back of your center console for your model Y? Is there a concern if the back cover is pressing too tightly on the wires? 4:32
I wish it would show your next turn for Nav and what AP mode you're in. That's for the 6inch version.
Hilarious! Keep up the good work!
Wish the lcd was higher resolution. But nice implementation.
So I can see the a creasexin the dash where the unit in. Is it that thick that it pushes it up??? You can see the top and bottom of dash aren't parallel.
That's awesome!
just awesome!!
(We) Love what you do Brian
How would this be possible to connect when using the same T connection that the rear screen setup does?
Question, any HUDs that have "Energy" and "Current Trip W/Hr" information displayed?
Have your 1000th like, sir!
this is great
very minimalist. Needs variable color for speed and percentage. Wondering why Tesla did not include such a device.
3 inches of greatness!!!! 👌🏽👌🏽👀😂
Do any of these HUD's show what music is currently playing? Thats one thing I cant stand because its at the bottom of the screen and hard to see while driving.
ohhhhh, I kinda like this. Might have to check it out
I need this display in my 3 😍
Hi, It is said that the speed of this product flashes red after 120km/h. Do you have any information? Is it adjustable?
nice piece of kit. Is it possible for future OTA update to wipe out this kit's function at the OBD port?
🤗👍😎 VERY COOL OPTION BRIAN 💚💚💚
Is it going to work on a 2023 cause my model 3 will be a 2023 modle
Hi does it work Even after several Tesla’s updates since sept 2022?
Where did you get the carbon fiber dash cover? Is it real carbon fiber?
any idea about if installing this voids warranty of the car?
Bonjour, depuis la maj 2022.28.1 l’écran additionnel bug. Plus de voyants de clignotant, voyant plein phare allumé. Les chiffres passent en rouge à partir de 120 km/h As tu une astuce please? Merci
Will it dim automatically at night?
Semms cool, but i assume this wire is going to rattle unless it's wrapped in some foam.
The term is head-up, not heads up - it's one head, looking up. I assume this is a confusion with (give me a) headsup. But, as Ian W says below, it isn't really a HUD anyway, though it's very neat. One advantage, apart from the obvious, might be that it would stop air from blowing straight at your face, which some people don't like.
On the linked site, there is a message for Model Y owners to check that the connector is in the location behind the seats that you show. It says if not, you cannot use the device. However, after some googling, I discovered they have just moved the connector to the center console near the driver's legs and it is supposed to be the exact same connector. I left a message on the website asking about this, but no reply yet. What do you think (we have a 2024 Model Y)?
Great video. My only concern is that the visible wire in the vent may annoy me. What are your thoughts on that? Is there any way to make the wire less visible?
I forgot to add in the video that there is a channel in the vent so you don't see the cable at all
@@i1Tesla thanks. Does that require any removal of any part of the dash to hide the cable? Any pics of the finished product after it has been tucked?
@@pooshd literally just watch the video bro
@@Lemonisaight I did you imbecile. See my questions. Those questions are not answered by watching the video.
Awsome thread. I had the same concern.
05:38 What is that little round thing to the right, with the red and black wires going to it?
That is the speaker for the auto doors. That lets you know when the door starts moving
Or lord, I am dying. Huge, girth… 😂😂😂😂😂! Very cool small screen.
Does anyone know if this cost a Tesla warranty suspension?
Somebody say the software update messed up indicators and turn signals no longer display. Can you please check it out? If so this product will be brick because itself can't be updated accordingly.
Would this work for other vehicles with OBD2 ports I wonder?
You'd have to rewire and change the connector, as the Tesla doesn't use standard OBD2 connectors/wiring.
It would have been nice if they added an LED ambient light in each side of the screen to provide illumination in the vents.
That would be cool to look but many wouldn't like it after some days of using it!
Does this thing void your warranty?
is it available for tesla model 3 highland?
Will this work in model 3 - 2024?
How did you put back the cover around the ODB port? Lots of cable there.
Kinda cool. What are your thoughts on the white interior?
I'm still wanting someone to figure out a way to connect to the repeaters for an always-on mirror HUD that reflects onto the windshield. until something like that happens, I don't think any of these HUD/instrument panels are really worth it. (and realistically Tesla just needs to cave and give us Carplay/Android Auto)
i never understood the need for carplay when the tesla literally does everything car play does.
How did you get the car's display to show the actual color of your car?
In the toolbox app you can customize the color of your displyaing car
Is this going to take away the Tesla warranty?
Dope
Lol, 12 d*ck jokes in less than 30 seconds, well done. And great video, thank you for the info.
Does this work on the 2018 3?
Yes, just installed it in mine.
Cool
Sorry I mean some of the fatures, eg left / right blinker arrows
When will someone come up with a proper HUD? All these displays require you to look away from the road to see so what’s the point. Proper HUDs project on the windscreen in your direct line of site
Question did the door open on its own?
Answer hard to tell.
Does the Dashboard Hidden HUD block air flow?
+1 does block air if it’s positioned in the center of steering wheel?
Thanks for the reply I live in Texas and need the air flow
@@carlhood3458 no , lol actually asked too cause i’m planning may be get one as well
Anyone else not able to go the their website?
I purchased a mini display similar to this one on Amazon for $75.79. What I don't like about it is: 1) I live in Texas where it can be hot & It does block the air conditioning air flow 2) When you hit 75 mph on up to 90 mph the the speed numerals turn from white to red like a warning 3) And when you hit 90 mph on up the speed numerals flash white then red, back & forth. Other then those three items it is nice & installs like the video showed. I did my installation in less than 10 mins. Here is the one I purchased on Amazon.
HUD for Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, Head Up Display, HD LCD Digital Speedometer, Displaying Speed (KMH not MPH), Lights, Gears, Parking, Over Speed Reminder, Real Time Vehicle Data
You can cancel the speed warning. Read the Manuel.
But why? The info display is literaly inches to the right of the steering wheel , this seem so usefull
Excellent idea. I just wish i didnt have to tear the car half apart to install such a display, even the simplest of installations may go wrong. The best option would be for Tesla to provide wireless communication to smart phones with the car data. Then all you needed was a phone holder you didnt have to tamper with electronics.
No, the best option would be for Tesla to put in a damn gauge cluster in these cars so you can see all the information desired without turning your head to the side or have to buy an aftermarket solution.
Can you hide the cable, so it's not visible from the left side of the HUD? I could not stand seeing this cable in your video after installation. It looks cheap and something you just slapped on. Technically it is something cheap you just slap on, but it would be nice if the cable was not visible.
Are you the CEO of manner wafers? It is the only reason I that makes sense to put that wrap on.
Sorry, I don’t have the car yet. Does this block the vents? I’d like to make sure the air flow is still optimized.
Thanks!
Yes, it blocks the vent a bit. The air will flow but towards the hands on the steering wheel.
Cool. that was my complaint for Tesla for the price there should be a HUD : )
why don't you connect the cable on the right side, where the right door is, there is a cable for the speedometer just like the one you connect in the video
I'd totally do this if there was blind spot monitoring on it.
I wish Tesla would implement a small display with such features standard for the new refresh, wishful thinking.
I wish Tesla would do a lot of things, and you're right, this is near the top of my list.
Very nice but i don't like wires showing
You think running the heater will affect this in any way
It shouldn't. It's moisture and waterproof. I doubt that heat will effect it either.
@@GunKaraka thks
I just got this one from Amazon for $18.
same thing sold on Amazon for $50
A really good one! 10-15% of drivers badly need to have speed data in front of them. Critical for S/X/M3P models.
why do we have to do this just to see the speed in a normal driving position
You can get this product on Amazon for $40!!
Tesla should listen to the amount of people who actually want this.
Should have come like that from the factory
It should come with a true HUD as standard and the instrument cluster AT LEAST as an option.
Model Y costs more than some early Model S went for and that had a beautiful screen.
But things that drivers want, Tesla immediately blacklists and calls it "manufacturing efficiency".
No Model 3 Estate, no Model S Estate. And you betcha people would pay extra for those, because they WANT that sort of car.
if it blocks airflow it's pretty useless for me.
i1Tesla: So is it worth it?
Driver Door: Nooooooooooooohhhh
Yes
Cool...but no f'ing way am I disassembling my car like that...How can I find someone reasonably competent to do this for me?
omg what happened lol it got weird for a sec hahahaha
Why adding weight and weight and weight to a BEV when the info are 20 cm away from there?
🤡
