Can you point me to where I can learn about it, because I *think* I understand it and then end up with kids having random counties in each other's duchies instead of neatly splitting the duchies between them.
@@Artess-od8wb you basically need to manually hand it out tbh, if you look at your second son for example you can see if the game will create him 1 or 2 duchies, then in your lifetime you need to create and feed him those lands, if the game will create him a kingdom, there's not much to do besides making an empire etc

Laith, to solve the confusion at 17:17 -- Use the French Kingdom title history screen to see what happened. Click on the title and the title history button is in the top right giving you the reason why the title changed hands.
The reason your realm split so weirdly was due to the inheritance. Basically since your capital and main territory were all in France the main heir got them along with England, other two sons got the leftover kingdoms, but since the French one owned the Breton duchy the king of Brittany lost the title. Then either the French one usurped it or it was destroyed since he didn't have any land in Brittany.
In my latest Ironman run, Kingdom of Alba got conqueror 5-10 years after start. Had the entire island under control within 20 years. Made every kingdom title a Tanistry Elective. it is hell a constant state of rebellion, somehow coptic has taken control of Wessex, everone else is Catholic.
If your goal is lots of STRONG kids I strobgly reccomend the Patriarch skill tree in Diplomacy - gives you the same +20% fertility, but also comes with bonuses that maje your kids stronger (and gives access and bonuses to Befriend, which makes managing big realms easier)
17:17 the son that was king of France lost his tyranny war and was deposed, and his heir was his older brother, the king of England. That’s why they combined and the younger brother is still alive.
Thanks for using the "Not Lowborn" trick Laith (: Another trick you could've used this run is to use the decision "Have the Realm Embrace Local Traditions" to convert faith's to whatever faith the people in your capital belong to. I believe it gives a few popular opinion bonuses too (:
I sometimes do the ‘random character’ succesion when i’ve become way to strong within one character and basically switch around a bit and create a bunch of other strong states around the map.
"He's also 24 and unmarried... Maybe because he's gay." Straight up broke me. Got me straight into a fit of laughter. Felt way too relatable with my family. 🤣
Those extra kingdoms would get created on succession, so you didn't really need to pay for them. The duchies can be a good idea for vassal loyalty though.
Laith, have you ever had this death....one of council member's husband death is listed as this "went missing in the bog and was never seen again" on 14 July 1103 at the age 37 (born 1 January 1066) ...had me in tears when I read that one:)
I tried this with Haestein too. The dynasty survived a lot of turbulence but it didn't expand much. It started with 65-ish counties, then grew to 108 counties at the peak, and fell to 76 by 1000 AD. The most noteworthy things were when they inherited Denmark and when England barely survived a 4-front war that would have ended the dynasty's reign. I forgot to convert to Catholic so they've been constantly hit with holy wars, but they're still the strongest force in Europe.
it would kinda be funny to just do this with a bunch of different creators tbh, just like everyone picks someone, sets up a dynasty, and then sees what happens, or joins in again when their dyansty goes extinct
I did this once but i gave myself a little bit more interaction with my dynasty, i would allow myself every 10 years to make 1 decision for the family, sometimes it was a change in succesion, others it was a marriage of two inportant characters, other times i started a war. Only rule was i could not choose the same person twice in a row.
Man, i remember a game of CK2, where in a couple generations, a third of Europe was of my house, including the ruling houses of france, much of germany and the ruling house of Byzantium (thanks to losts of children and matrilineal marriages). Not bad for petty welsh prince.
What happens when I play as one ruler? That sounds like what I usually do as the successor usually has to deal with courtiers who act like they are under a total stranger even though it is the son of their former liege.
Best format ever. I really had a lot of good laughs. Please do it again maybe changing something or really pushing to create stable realm. Anyway great job yo all
Upon reforming the Roman Empire, I embarked on the legendary adventure quest to India, leaving my children a stable and wealthy restored Roman Empire to rule over. I was curious where they would take it… until my heir lost to a claimant, Rome converted to a grand republic, and then shattered completely. My character hadn’t even died yet before Rome exploded.
This video was straight up some "War of the Roses" type shit. Not even Laith was able to keep up with how many times the titles were switched around between the family members...
this actually seems like a really fun campaign idea. min-max the hell out of everything possible, expand as far as possible, and when you die, watch everything go to shit
You gave your heirs a bad hand from the get go, needed to sort out inheritances so they inherited the right duchies and kingdoms. Instead you got alot of crossover inheritances.
@wotanvonedelsburg1610 in-game because they belong to the french culture group, and historically because Norman England was technically a vassal of France, and the Normans in England always felt more broadly French than specifically English
Laith refusing to learn how partition inheritance works in CK3 continues to provide excellent content as always
it infuriates me because I see him never like garrison his men at arms and it drives me up the wall!
