  • In this video I’m limbing a tree that fell across the road by my house. The 3 axes used are all boys axes. Vintage hults bruk agdor yankee 2lb, council tool sport utility 2.25 lb Dayton, and a vintage true temper woodslasher 2.25 Dayton. #axe #woods #pennsylvania #bucking #felling

Sorry about the footage not going how you planned. Still a really nice watch. I always enjoy what you have to say. My money is on the HB for limbing. Swedish axes tend to have good balance and more weight in the handle helping with control. For bucking, the old TT is gonna blow those others away. Less sticky, more chip-popping goodness haha.

It’s all good thanks man !! It felt good to at least get out an chop… and heck yeah man you nailed it the HB was a wicked limber and pretty good at bucking, but man that vintage TT is a bucking machine 🙌

Bummer about the technology. Enjoyable watch anyway! Looks like you are swinging accurately from both sides and the axes are cutting well. Hang in there.😊

Thank you !! Yeah definitely a bummer, I’m working on upgrading my camera. Thank you I really appreciate it, I’ve been practicing swinging both ways. I’m left handed so I’ve been practicing depending on the scenario to swing right handed, it’s still a little awkward but I’m getting there. 👍 yeah I’d say they all seem to perform well, I’m not overly happy with how the council tool chops but that could be the mediocre grind that I put on it, that council tool axe is one of the first axes I learned to file on and profile and since then I’ve become a lot better at it. I think I’ll go back and fix my work. Thank you again Brett !!

To bad you lost all that video footage. You could still offer your opinions on the 3 axes. I don't think I've seen many red-headed Hults Bruks axes.

Yeah it definitely sucks but stuff happens, and you’re right I could have totally did that while I was filming the explanation, I didn’t even think of that. Maybe I’ll put out a short video just giving my thoughts on them !! Thank you !! As far as the red HB yeah I haven’t seen once before either, I’ve seen a bunch of blue and sometimes green on the old ones but rarely do I see red.

Lol! One day this happened to me on a main road. A couple 8 inch cherry poles landed across the road. Unfortunately I wasn’t the first on scene, as some guys were trying to push it out of the way with the front of their truck. I offered to cut the stems with my axe, but they just asked me to wait for their friend to bring his chainsaw. 20 minutes later he showed up 😆. Nobody respects the axe anymore. Sad times my friend
