The “Housing Shortage Comedy” might have been a short-lived sub-genre of World War II-era comedy, but it produced some gems in its short lifespan. Among them is this antic, code-provoking jewel from Monogram Pictures starring Simone Simon (Cat People). Quebec-native Kathie Aumont (Simon) finds herself sans shelter in Washington, D.C. Striking sparks with a shipping-out Marine (William Terry), Kathie convinces the handsome leatherneck to sub-let his place to her.
Directed By Joe May
Starring Simone Simon, James Ellison, William Terry

It is impossible not to absolutely love that little boy. He was really good. I hate that he died so young.
A good many of them died young Alfalfa (Carl Switzer) died at 32 when he was shot in self defense, Darla Hood died of tuberculosis at 48, and Bill "Buckwheat" Thomas died of a heart attack at 49. It's called The Our Gang/Little Rascals curse.
@@chrismulwee4911 the kid 30s gang was cursed aka Alfie, Scotty, Darla, Buckwheat and Harold
@@chrismulwee4911 Then there was Norman Chaney as Chubby! In fact, he was the one LR not to live to see the series come to an end.
@@zerne7887What's ironic is the kids from the original silent era 1920s shorts, the original lineup of kids outlived most of the 30s and 40s decades kids. Like Joe Cobb lived to 2002, Mickey lived to his 60s, Sunshine Sammy made it to nearly 80 etc. The biggest kicker is Hal Roach, the creator and producer of Our Gang outlived 90% of the kids. He died at nearly 101 years old in 1992. As of my comment on December 1st 2023, Butch's sidekick Woim(Sidney Kibrick) is the only surviving member of the entire Our Gang series.
@chrismulwee4911 And a good number of them didn't die young. Especially considering how many kids had been in that series over the years; most of them lived past the life expectancy of their time.
Statistically; what happened to the Our Gang kids is honestly no different than if you were to take a graduating class of the same size and follow their lives for the next 70 years. There's going to be a good number who died tragically young, there's going to be a good number who died middle-aged, and a good number who died elderly. As much as we'd like the majority of the population to be dying old in their bed peacefully asleep; the fact is most people are not blessed with that kind of death, thats rare. No different with the Our Gang kids than anyone else.
THATS REALLY NEAT HEARING WHAT FROGGY REALLY SOUNDED LIKE RIP BILLY FROGGY LAUGHLIN 1932-1948.

How did he die 😭
@@tehyzaaa9830 Froggy was hit by a bus from behind when he was delivering newspapers and riding a motor scooter. He and his friend, who was also delivering newspapers, were killed instantly. He died at 16 years old.
@@HopeS951 Just read now that the friend that was driving the scooter survived with minor injuries.
@@katherinehandley536 yeah his friend was doing a u turn wants the name of his friend that did u turn to billy laughlin?
I always wondered what Billy's natural voice sounded like. Thanks for uploading this video.
RIP Billy "Froggy" Laughlin. Heartbreaking that he died so young. Funniest kid in the later Our Gang series. Loved seeing this film clip.👍
This is the only existing movie footage that uses Billy "Froggy" Laughlins natural speaking voice before he died 4 years later in 1948
0:53 Billy using his Froggy voice
Someone stole my soap! LOL 😂❤️😂❤️😂❤️
how can some without nostalgia watch this ??
I like how he's doing his best Irish accent, then we get a little bit of the "Froggy" voice at the end. "Pee ew"!
wow she is so beautiful
That's Simone Simon. She had a limited Hollywood career, supposedly because of her limited command of English. She had an affair with famous double spy and ladies man Dusko Popov who was the inspiration for Ian Fleming's James Bond. Small world.
Yeah, Simone was super hot! What a babe! Anyone who doesn't think that's PC can just kiss my fat ass, because she got into the business based entirely on her look... and she damned well knew it. She was trying to cash in in her appearance; and I respect that 100%! Her acting skills were definitely subpar, but could have improved with practice, had she not been involved in a scandal.
SIMP!
@@MickPsyphon average at best shes pretty but their are way better looking females today.

Personal preferences are perfectly legitimate. I'll never tell you what YOU like, because everyone sees the world through a different pair of eyes.
Nevertheless, Simone had that look that many supermodels have copied, ever since. IMO, she's upper tier!
Froggy!!!
There were 2 Our Gang shorts before this, where he used his real voice. Among them Surprised Parties, in which he dresses up like a girl to attend the party , and talks in his real voice. Another,1-2-3 Go, in which his gravelly voice keeps shorting out, he briefly switches to his real voice so he can give his speech then goes back to being "Froggy"
and says, "Fooled you, didn't I?' cause the mike to blow up again!
Wow Simone was so cute.
Check her out in Cat People and Curse of the Cat People.
Froggy aka Billy Laughlin's one and only appearance on film post Little Rascals where you could hear his actual voice rather than the fake one on the Little Rascals. Died at age 16 in a car accident 4 years later in 1948.
Although, at end, you *do* hear that fake voice anyway.
Froggy was only 16 when he passed away
Jeez what a babe
I wonder if Froggy was something of an inspiration to the character of Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys? Thick glasses, wall eyed, sassy mouth, down to earth, funny peculiar voice. Just a fun theory!

She could have scubbed him with that big brush ! But he probaubly would complain.
One of the few times when Froggy didn't sound like a frog!
When he said p uu
Sniffs soap. P.U 😂
A comment on Pastor Gino Jennings video sent me here the commentators were right he sounds both like wolfman Jack and froggy from the little rascals but more so like wolf man jack!
He did play froggy
What happened to Froggy's voice?
Felix Brown Maybe they used someone else
Felix.
This is his real voice. When he was a young man his parents got him a popeye doll for him one day his mother heard a strange voice coming out of his room she went in and found her son talking like popeye or "Froggy" as we know him,he used the Froggy voice as a gimmick, all his own.She enrolled him in acting school to boost his self confidence because kids teased him for he was really crosseyed.
Besides, he did use his Popeye-esque voice when he said "P.U." over the scent of the soap the lady tossed to him.
Which meridiem do you think Billy meant when he explained that he used the shower at nine-thirty? Did he mean AM or PM?
His last words on camera were pee you... this poor kid died at 16 from blunt force trauma by a truck on a moped. A moped he wasnt driving doing a newspaper route. Wtf...
