Great footage but In those 'cuts' I got totally lost. Will you please add footnotes as to the where-abouts we are and in which direction we are travelling? That would be truly helpful. Thanks also for the wonderful Mahler - most evocative given the circumstances . . . . .
I found the cutting/editing confusing, I usually like to start at one point and finish at another. not keep jumping back to something you have seen before.
Your video are confusing you keep jumping ,we need to know which road is cut please , I lived in the area for many years but now the hedges are cut it is difficult to see where you are , I can’t believe how wide they have cut into the country side it’s only 2 tracks for god’s sake….
Wonder how long it will be until the rails reach Winslow? Also do you know if they are running rails out from Bicester or are they only doing the rails from the one direction? It's sad that the Cambridge/aylesbury bits could be cancelled but there are other options such as running a decent bus service between Winslow and Aylesbury (including buckingham in such a link would make a huge lot of sense) and running high speed coaches between Bedford and Cambridge. All they would then need to do is sort out the stupid single track sections on the Marston vale line.
Are they going to reinstate it? FYI: I did a static equivalent of such for a heavily encroached (by urban settlements) railway in Sri Lanka (Kelani Valley), way back in 2006, 2007, with the advent of wikimapia, the online version of Google Earth.
The platforms at Winslow look very short! No doubt announcements will be made on trains that passengers must go to the front 4 coaches to get off there and all because EWR didnt want to lengthen the platforms!
It's more crazy that it's not electrified. Platform length probably won't be a problem if they just run the same crappy converted London underground trains they use on the Marston vale line. It will take like 3 hours to get from Oxford to Bedford then another hour on a bus to Cambridge but that's the price of funding HS2.
The whole reason for reinstating this cross country link is for freight first and as a passenger railway second. The project itself could dry up. The electrification opportunity are not being explored at all. There is no business case for laying a second line of way. Very short sighted. Chiltern if you recall went into bold mood and put back the other track. This is a rare thing in Blighty. The fiasco of singling Salisbury to Exeter was deliberate. An immediate bottleneck is created.

Because Tory BloJo, went back on his word. And drastically cut funds and projects. So, no levelling up, HS2 east branch to Leeds scrapped, electrification of East Midlands line scrapped. New Diesel Multiple-Units were bought by EM Rail due to Tory withdrawal of cash for electrifying line through to Nottingham.
Great video, this line should never have closed in the first place and was never scheduled to do so under Beeching!
I hate the beeching cuts they ruined so many railways
It was losing a tremendous amount of money. As it is stages 2 and 3 now looking as though it will be axed.
@@ds1868 What do you mean phase 2 and 3 is facing the axes, phase 2 is already taking shape, phase 3 under review .
An excellent video. My grandfather was one of the signalmen at Winslow from 1919 to 1967
I bet he has some stories.
@@gazman1966 He did have sadly long gone now

If only this could happen with the Woodhead and Great Central Main Line. It's nice that they have kept many of the old bridges.
Good job the route was never built over. Like the Waverley route at one point. CPO reqd.
and the Elephant in the room. the section between Bedford and Cambridge
Beautiful music, what is it?
Hi,it is a track from Shutterstock which is available on Cyberlink Power Director.I will find the title name .

Not sure about origin.
Nice video, the music's a bit grim though.

Hopefully will be all reinstated.

A modern railway,but not electrified…..why not ?
Crazy isn't it?

@@mohammednadeemanwar2213 looks like you are in the north of England.....so who cares about that ......
are they going to keep the line single track?
I believe it will be twin tracks
Why do you keep on asking the same really stupid question on all videos on this topic?
