Excellent positioning shot to open the documentary - nicely done.

Hi there. See the strathspay coach is still in the middle of the field. Was there for the bus festival 2 weeks ago as weekend of the local monsoon. Caroline

    No hurry, chaps.
That part of Station Road has been closed for over three and a half years now.
Some points of interest in QM's ever-sunny video: 0:30 The branch to the right was where the Brill Tramway departed Quainton Road on its six mile trundle through the fields. This branch was part of the Metropolitan Railway and was incorporated into the London Passenger Transport Board in 1933 before closing in 1935. Therefore, technically, the Brill terminus was part of The London Underground for two years. It was 12 miles from Oxford and nearly 50 miles from Baker Street.
At 4:30 we see the GCR overbridge and, just beyond, the old trackbed of the Aylesbury & Buckingham Railway (later the Metropolitan Railway) to Verney Junction curving away to the right, marked by the line of trees. You can just make out the, infilled, original arch for that line to the right of the later GCR span.
The lane running south from the bridge is obviously a goner. Let's hope they come up with something sympathetic to the area as a replacement.
At 4:48, centre left, was where the gate lodge for Doddershall House stood. It was a lovely old building but had to be demolished because it was in the way of a haul road. Not the HS2 trackbed itself. A service road. Oh well, whatever ...
Keep 'em coming, QM ... 👍

Hi Dave, very interesting commentary as always! Fascinating to hear about how the landscape has changed over time...Next time i'm in the area, i'll be keen to explore that old line to Verney junction if at all accessible. Thank you.

@@stevetony6876 There's not a lot to see, QM; but if you film it I'll watch it 👍

It looks like a bridge deck is being built in between the abutments of that first bridge by Quainton road, it looks nearly ready to be lifted into position.

Is the bridge in the distance at about 2:15 the diverted A41?

That section seems to be a little bit behind some other areas of the route in terms of earthworks, drainage and construction.

To my untrained eye, it appears ground work has been prepared and piling started for the twin-track overbridge as well prep work for the Aylesbury link to join further along.. But not as advanced as other sections along the route, but we do have a couple of trackbeds to hold onto!
