This video needs to be seen by everyone visiting Marrakesh!! I am here now for 2 months and this is EXACTLY what happens! After you get use to saying no to all of these the rest of your trip is much easier. A tip I have learned for the ‘helpful stranger’ scam is to say to everyone you are walking home and have no money.
DO NOT ‘say no’ - do even less - completely ignore. Head down. Zero eye contact. Do not be polite. Do not be friendly. Do not fist bump. Do not smile. Walk away as if busy. Learn a few words and say you live there.
is those people use a gun or a knife to force em yo use there service. they are working for there family, just he say NO and nobody bother him. those are some cheap tourist they think they are in africa he will live for free and use people to work for him for free. he need to pay people for there services or just don't use them, he want to live by saying thank you to them. there is no thing wrong forwhat they did. if you don't want to pay them say NO to there service. he is living with this youtube vedio, so he use them as an actor in his vedio plus he give him a ride he loose his time and loose gas , what he want more. if you are cheap stay in your home.
Why ? All tourist want free service, you are not in your home to Ask free service, you must pay every where , you are a scamers too, you filmed All places you filmed moroccan woman every where, and you Say scam, you the bigg scamers, go work better you have Big shoulders, Big shoulders you do nothing
Quick tips from someone who has been many times. 1 Wear dark glasses, super dark, so they can't see your eyes. 2 Don't say you are from a country they know. Say Lithuania, Albania, Bolivia whatever. This cuts them dead, trust me. 3 Ignore them and just keep walking or go into a store/restaurant, and if they persist hold up the palm of your hand and shout no (and I mean shout). Probably 10% of the people in the medina at any one time in daylight hours are undercover police; scammers do not want that kind of attention, and will brick it if 5-0 risk being alerted. Should be stated that the square at night isn't like this at all; then the atmosphere is very friendly and genuinely funny as guys try to entice you on to particular food stalls.
Don't say Bolivia beacuse these dudes will speak to you in Spanish. I tried to get a scammer off my back by speaking Spanish and he held his own in a converstion in Spanish. I thought, next time i come here. I'm learning Chinese LMFAO.
This is a common thing I've seen in videos about Marrakech. People say they didn't enjoy their travel there because they felt bombarded by scams and stranger's persistent pushiness to get paid for having done nothing. Once the word spreads enough, this is the experience most people get, the Moroccan tourism industry will decrease.
Omg the guy in blue scammed me and my family. We were scammed at the airport, in the mountains as well as in the city. You name it. It got dangerous in madras’s Ben youssef and Bahia palace at one point and ended up in a dead end with 3 different guys hounding us for money. They backed my husband into a corner and put their hands on his shoulders to hold him. We luckily escaped unscathed without giving them anything. Never going back
Had all the scams mentioned a few years back, not only in Marrakech though but also in Fez and Rabat. The first one was also the airport taxis but it was at Rabat airport. We landed late at night and were very relieved to find a bunch of registered taxis just outside the airport. We agreed on a price with one of the drivers to something like 20 EUR/USD equivalent. On the way to our destination he stopped somewhere that looked sketchy and dark and he demanded double the money.
Great video! I'm in Marrakech with my family on holiday and this video definitely rings true. We came across a fake tour guide who took us to these very specific places such as Herboljste L'espoir where we were significantly overcharged for spices. The fake tour guides earn a comission from these shops to bring in customers. Be very careful when in Morocco, there are scammers everywhere ready to take advantage of you. This isn't a safe vacation spot. This is my first and last time visiting this country. I won't be coming back.
I hate that you had that experience. I found Casablanca to be pretty dope. That’s the place I’d visit again. Thanks for watching and sharing your story.

1 - Haggle a price when you get into the taxi. Do not let the driver start driving until you have arranged a price. 2 - Helper just expect a small tip. Don't be afraid to say no! 3 - Same as 2. 4 - Same as 2, but don't feel that you have to pay if they put the monkey/snake on you. It's only if you take a photo. They only expect pocket change, so haggle! 5 - Agree. Don't follow anyone unles they're doing something you definitely want. Just use common sense.

Hi, I'd like to ask do you know how to go to Casablanca from Marrakech, I meant by taxi or car rental. Sorry that this question is out of context but I really need this information
Hope you go back and visit other cities. Marrakech is not my fav at all and Casa is kind of boring to me lol. I love Tangier and Chefchaouen though. Also some cool little cities to also check out - Martil, Mdiq, Cabo Negro. Visit the north side and make your way to Ceuta. 👌🏽
You’re welcome. Great video! Looking forward to reviewing your other content as well. Marrakech smells like car exhaust to me though 😂 The square is cool or other things outside the Medina. But yeah. Not a big fan. I did get up to the Atlas Mountains while there and that was beautiful! But don’t write off Morocco yet. ❤ Check out he north for sure! Heard the desert is dope too like Ouzzarate - still making plans to get there eventually as I still haven’t been. I also haven’t been to Agadir or Essouira and those are fun beach towns down south. There’s also a short ferry ride from Tangier or Ceuta that you can take to Spain. Chefchaouen is like a more smaller calmer version of the square tho but bring your walking shoes haha. Lots of hills and all the buildings are blue.
Its the same thing in most touristy places in developing world. India, Egypt etc. You try to be nice and say no etc at the start but by day 5, you just learn to ignore and be rude to everyone. That's the only language they understand. It's terrible manners but that's one sure way to not get scammed or robbed.
I was planning a trip to Marrakech but after seeing so many videos about how they are, I don't know if I want to go there anymore. I understand trying to provide but I don't want to feel like I HAVE to give someone money for basically nothing. Not cool.
This sounds very similar to Egypt. They are relentless. Just tell them you've got no money straight away. Ahh that's really nice but I've got no money lol
Going there with my husband and kids in 3 weeks and looking forward but we are also prepared ;-) Arranged a transfer upfront, have an idea of what (not) to do and where (not) to go and we are expecting to be exhausted but amazed daily from all impressions and the culture shock ;-) Yet I believe a city that's more than worth visiting, so we'll see.

Dont scam ur self? Lllove it!! Thats like the best advice ever! U said it: dont scam ur self, so why would u get on a bike with a complete stranger? Sorry bud but u brought most of it to ur self And part 2 of dont scam ur self: why would anyone (unless on a really strict budget) rent or get a room in a poor neighborhood like the old town medina especially when ure travelling solo, its like shooting ur self in the foot. Marrakesh is a large city with an old town(obviously poor) and a modern side, regulated organized civilized side of the city with big hotels, resorts even casinos and nightclubs etc then the malls the banks modern buildings restaurants etc.. getting a room in old town medina is like renting a room in the favela, one can expect anything to happen in thse areas, im sure ur "moroccan" look saved u from plenty issh.. my advice to anyone visiting such countries, always avoid poor n shady tight areas, get a nice hotel in a nicer areas and if u feel like visiting the old town book a reputable guide and go for a guided tour for a whole day, being in company with a local and someone certified will save u a sht ton of stress... just my 2 cents ✌
Scammers are unfortunately a common occurrence in many touristy cities around the world not only in Marrakech. These individuals prey on unsuspecting tourists who may be unfamiliar with the local customs and language, and are often looking for ways to make a quick buck. I've seen scammers in Italy, France, Turkey, India just to mention a few. To protect yourself from scammers in touristy cities like Marrakech, simply ignore them. if you need help, ask a cop or your hotel for info. when traveling, safety is the most important aspect of the experience and Marrakech is a very safe city. Overall, while scammers can be a nuisance, with some awareness and caution, you can ensure that your stay in Morocco is safe and enjoyable. PS: Jamea El Fna Square is where most scammers hangout, everywhere else is totally fine.
@@MorbleyTravels Wow there will be a lot of discussions then 😅 But I will probably rent a car anyway, much easier to travel to different places I guess
In Malaysia I used Grab (which is like uber) that was perfect, it was cheap so that I could give a good tip everytime and I had the chance to meet a lot of interesting people. At the end I probably had 50-60 bookings in the app 😄 I hoped to find something similar in Morocco 🤷♂️
For sure tattos guy wallking with Camera in his hand in marrakche he will give attations to scammers 😂😂😂😂 brother i live in marrakche you want spent good time here dont give time for people who will ask you to buy this or just ignored them then they will go away
@@MorbleyTravels no that's a scam to charge 10x but you can see the price in front of you so just pay what you see nothing more and bro learn to say no
I think you have never visited India and Turkey… they are popular with scammers… in Morocco I don’t call that scam if someone ask you if you want a picture with a Monkey… If you want to take a picture with their animal you can give THEM 0.5$ or 1$… if you don’t want to just say NO… It’s simple… it’s their JOB… and always avoid taxi from airport in any country they are always expensive… in Morocco taxi cost 20/30$ from airport… take uber or BUS or a friend… hope you’ve enjoyed your trip
My family is coming to morocco to visit me and I literally had to beg my moroccan friend to help take us around because I can't stand marrakesh lol. I refuse to go to the medina.
@@MorbleyTravels I live in Casablanca and it's great. I literally wrote a three page safety and scam guide just for marrakesh for my family because it's MarraSTRESS, lol. Of course it's an unprepared American which isn't used to the culture of th country and the hustle and has done 0 resesrch before visiting. There are good and bad people eveywhere. I haven't gotten scammed once, do you know why??? Because I've done my research, shocking right?
like in europ and america is heaven. scammer are everywere, a kid show him the road and walk him for half hour ask for 5 dollar you name it a scam. the scammer the one who want people to work for him for free just because he is in africa, in america to use the bathroom in a coffe or a shop or a gaz station you need to buy something even if it a kid that s not a scam, that a legal business scam. in Morocco if you need the vathroom you knock on any house they will let you use there bathroom and give you some thee before you leave for free. and none of american will loose an hour of his time to show somebody the way. realy you are a honest scammers.
your country it’s more dangerous don’t get me wrong, don’t go back to Morocco then bro, Stop saying bad things to Morocco, Morocco 🇲🇦 it’s beautiful country in world for generosity people, this bad image u do, Not appreciate your video at all, give respect bro

As a Moroccan he has the right to show what he wants and our job is to make our country great and yeah im moroccan and taxis scam me and don't want to pick you sometimes sometimes, we need apps like uber here
but you are actually the biggest scammer right here! You seek out the people who want to make money, but you escalate the citation so that they seem like scammers!!! And part 2 of dont scam ur self: why would anyone (unless on a really strict budget) rent or get a room in a poor neighborhood like the old town medina especially when ure travelling solo, its like shooting ur self in the foot.
Sometimes you just have to have those experiences 🤷♂️
What are other scams that you’ve seen while traveling?
Maybe now there is but back in 1984 nobody scammed anyone.
Going to morocco tomorrow!
Did you find a thrust a cheap working tour guide

Welcome to Morocco. We're happy to see you here in our magical country.❤❤
Once I moved outside of the Medina, the city was completely different!! Thanks for watching!
A New bus from Marrakech airport to Marrakech centre for some dirhams 👍
Don't they use an app like Uber or Grab in Morocco?
Nope! Taxis everywhere!!
At the end I probably had 50-60 bookings in the app 😄
I hoped to find something similar in Morocco 🤷♂️
@@62Serhildan that sounds awesome!! I’ll have to add it to my list of travel apps!! Thank you!!
@@MorbleyTravelswe use Indrive similar to Uber
Next time try Tunisia, very similar to Morrocco but not as touristy or aggressive people
I definitely will!! Thank you for the suggestion!!
Tunisia is more touristy, and isn't the same
Not been to Tunisia for years but when I was there it was constant hassle , just like Marrakech
Starting to think best way not to get scammed is don’t go on holiday .
You just have to be vigilant when out there. Enjoy your future travels and thank you for watching!!
So sad that i only saw this video after come back from Marrakesh lol
Hopefully you didn’t have these same experiences
For sure tattos guy wallking with Camera in his hand in marrakche he will give attations to scammers 😂😂😂😂 brother i live in marrakche you want spent good time here dont give time for people who will ask you to buy this or just ignored them then they will go away
When I came back from Casablanca, I stayed outside of the Medina and had a dope time! What’s crazy is, this was only from my first 24 hours.
Thats true man
These scams are in every country lol. Was just in India and Nepal and there was nothing different
No brother taxi driver to or from the airport cost more money it's not same as the city it's low not scam
So charging 10x more to go the same distance as a €3 ride isn’t a scam? Especially when I was able to talk the price down 🤷♂️
@@MorbleyTravels no that's a scam to charge 10x but you can see the price in front of you so just pay what you see nothing more and bro learn to say no
@@MorbleyTravels but in the airport you have to pay a fix amount of money and it's quite big
@@الخبيرةالنفسيةyes true taxi from airport is expensive… even if it’s small distance… Always try to avoid them
People are just hustling, I’m from Africa maybe I’m just use to the hustle life. I’m rather enjoying my time, you got to be street smart 😅
Not saying it’s ok but this shit happens in every touristic city in the world including New York where I now reside 😅
You’re absolutely right! Paris, NYC, London…everywhere
To be honest...not in Bangkok, not in Tokyo, not in Seoul, not in Frankfurt...
I’ve never been to India. I’d have to sit down and figure out the peaceful places to visit. I can’t do those crazy crowds. Thanks for watching!
My family is coming to morocco to visit me and I literally had to beg my moroccan friend to help take us around because I can't stand marrakesh lol. I refuse to go to the medina.
Casablanca was definitely the favorite of the two for me. I hope your family enjoys their visit and thanks for watching!
@@MorbleyTravels I live in Casablanca and it's great. I literally wrote a three page safety and scam guide just for marrakesh for my family because it's MarraSTRESS, lol. They think I'm going overboard but they'll thank me once the aggressive panhandlers start touching and blocking them for half a mile 😆
Normal moroccan are not scammers but those guys do this as their job they skilled scammer that even scam moroccan resident

The Truth
Its true there are many ways you can get scammed!
But its also true only idiots gets scammed! Just being honest.
Do your homework before you travel anywhere in the world
Your mom got scammed by your dad…..
You just have to be wise. learn a bit of Arabic or French. Have respect. I found Marrakech to be the friendliest and non-theatening place.
Of course it's an unprepared American which isn't used to the culture of th country and the hustle and has done 0 resesrch before visiting. There are good and bad people eveywhere. I haven't gotten scammed once, do you know why??? Because I've done my research, shocking right?
🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣 Congratulations, you want a cookie?
@@MorbleyTravels Haha truth hurts
You didn’t say he’s not being truthful tho
Welcome in africa brother 😊
Thank you! I’m definitely looking forward to exploring the many countries there!
like in europ and america is heaven. scammer are everywere, a kid show him the road and walk him for half hour ask for 5 dollar you name it a scam. the scammer the one who want people to work for him for free just because he is in africa, in america to use the bathroom in a coffe or a shop or a gaz station you need to buy something even if it a kid that s not a scam, that a legal business scam. in Morocco if you need the vathroom you knock on any house they will let you use there bathroom and give you some thee before you leave for free. and none of american will loose an hour of his time to show somebody the way. realy you are a honest scammers.
Nothing's up.
But why not?
😂😂😂😂
Best way: learn moroccan arabic. Will save you a lot of problems
Just don't go ther is the better.
It changed once I left the Medina area and moved to the other side of town.

That's what happens when you travel unprepared and when you're too naive. Next time get more info about the place you're visiting.
I’m definitely not a naïve traveler. Just didn’t expect people to be dirtbags 🤷♂️
"subscrive"
Man, if there is a scammer around here then it must be you.
🤣🤣🤣 How many people have you stolen money from?
Pretty much use common sense lol

Oooor hear me out, I just don’t like being scammed 🤷♂️
@@MorbleyTravels happens everywhere in different forms
but you are actually the biggest scammer right here! You seek out the people who want to make money, but you escalate the citation so that they seem like scammers!!!
NO ONE has said that the prices they say are a fixed price, you can man up and haggle over the price, at the same time you get an experience out of this!
I agree that they are trying to sell at a high price! BUT then you have to learn to get them down in price and not least to be social! last but not least.! have you been given permission by these people to throw them on UA-cam!?
I love these comments! Thanks for scamming! I mean watching!
