I wanted to pop in and say that I'm so happy that so many people have enjoyed this video on an exceptional character! I also deeply appreciate your stories, and reading about the reasons these games have resonated with you.
I see a reflection of my life's experiences in Chloe, and playing as Max makes me want to help her not feel the things she's feeling. Playing as Chloe seemed odd - she was full of angst, and rebellion, but the choices and abilities given to the player just seemed - tame. The graffiti also seemed tame. But seeing her personality develop through gameplay was interesting.
Chloe is the representation of the "loss of innocence". In her past she was charismatic, tender and very intelligent girl, with good parents and a friend who was like her sister. However, all that is distorted by the death of her father, her friend leaves and cuts off communication, her mother appears with another man which offends her memory of her father. Chloe is corrupted because of feeling lonely, rebelling and breaking the rules, becoming controversial but all this because of events not because she wanted to be that from the beginning. She is a character with a well-founded evolutionary arc. Could she have been written a little better? Yes. But, I still appreciate her.
she's well written its not the characters in LiS that suck its the the dialogue that needs to be "written better" george lucas level dialogue at some points lmao
The bonus episode in LIS before the storm titled farewell. Where Chloe and Max were playing pirates and they dug up a treasure really made me sad. Who knew that in the very future they'll be digging up a loved one and not a treasure anymore.
I've always loved Chloe because of how relatable she is. But recently, my father died in a car crash and I was inside the car with him and I survived. Now I don't think I can ever find a character more relatable than Chloe. She's my favorite ever.
Voyager, be grateful you didn't smoke weed and get into a $5000 dollar debt with a lowly drug dealer and having to kill him and his dog to protect yourself. I know I'm stating the worst of Chloe and I'm proud of it, but you should be lucky you didn't end up like Chloe.
My god...Chloe is probably the most impactful video game character I have ever seen or played. My own father died just two weeks after my 15th birthday, so we were about the same age. I remember playing this game, only a few years after my fathers death, and relating so much to the feelings that she was feeling, and how hard it can be to let those out, being so young. Chloe means a lot to me!
@@eribae7937 can you name those times? You know what you might have a point she did want to sacrifice herself at the end but it had no build up or redemption ark so in my opinion it came out if nowhere
@@Satan666fromhelShe did that because she is hurt, and her mother knew that (both are hurt) She has a reason to be mean, is not like she is just a jerk because she got bored
@@Satan666fromhel Dude chloe is just scared to be close with anybody even her own mother so she is just lashing out and putting up a front. And Joyce is not exactly the best mom either. She completely chose David over Chloe multiple times. She didnt care when David hit her. Chloe has a LOT of reasons to not be nice to joyce. And at the end when chloe is begging max to sacrifice her you can tell she loves her mom so much. But chloe is just hurting so much that she will take her anger out on anybody around her. I really think that if David never came joyce and chloe could of became VERY close. especially since they were both grieving williams death. they could of helped eachother. instead david had to come and joyce took his side completely. chloe felt betrayed by everyone even her own mother.
6:31 this point is why trauma that makes people grow up faster often leaves them less mentally grown up later in life and having more childish tendencies (such as being dependent on others) - Chloe
My friend tried to shame me for saving Chloe and potentially killing everybody else in Arcadia Bay, but I see too much of myself in Chloe and her situation to sacrifice her. Even though most of the time it was me moving away, my friendships didn't end because of my lack of trying. It hurts to be ignored and eventually"forgotten by the person or people who know you best in life. If I had the chance to reconnect with my childhood best friend on a crazy adventure, I'd take it. Chloe and Riley from the Last of Us are the two video game characters I see myself in the most.
I think faulting everyone for picking the less utilitarian option within a videogame as not really getting the game at all. What makes the decition so hard in the end is getting to know her and spending time with her. If this was a real life situation I wonder how they‘d act in that case. Sacrificing a loved one (or even your girlfriend as I see it) is not something everyone would do even if it‘d mean killing so many strangers in the process. If you saved Chloe you aren‘t a bad person. You‘re just someone who values their friends/loved ones over strangers and classmates. And someone willing to sacrifice Chloe is someone who values utilitarianism over their loved ones or at least in a game. Irl things may always be different. In the end it‘s a lose lose situation. No matter what you do, you end up losing people. The only difference is the amount. But in the end every decition will cause suffering to someone. So what you chose here isn‘t good or bad. It‘s basically neutral because we tend to value human lives of loved ones differently than strangers. So don‘t feel bad if you chose this option. If your friend feels you chose the „bad“ option, then they missed the point of the game entirely.
@@takke9830 thank you. I feel so good that there are people like you who can understand the point of the game's message and the some of the players' choices. I was one click away from sacrificing Chloe and I stopped 5mm away. I hesitated and Sacrificed the town in tears. While I felt awful potentially losing those lives. I would have felt way worse losing Chloe since I connected with the character so much. My Dad didn't die but similar to Rachel's situation he wasn't the man I admired when I was young. So letting Chloe know that she will always have someone who loves her no matter what felt so right than letting her die alone. If I had to pick between a population of a town and my loved one (wife, daughter, mother, etc) I would choose them any day. That's just what makes me Human
I saved Chloe because from my point of view I spent the entire game saving her and wasn't about to let all of that be for nothing just because some randoms who neither the characters in game nor me the player have any relationship with could potentially die. And even IRL in a specifically similar situation if I had to choose between saving a loved one or a large amount of random people I'd pick the loved one in a heartbeat. Their lives never influenced mine and it's not my responsibility to save theirs if given a lose lose situation like in the game. If I had the option to save everyone of course I would if I was the only one capable of doing that but that's not the case here. Saving Chloe is the only logical choice in my opinion.
Even if you're playing as max ... I preferred Chloe .. she's just special ... at first I found her hot and sexy .. but in the end .. I've seen her as an idol for me .. a best friend .. only Clementine made me feel this way .. but Chloe is just special ..too bad the entire life is strange saga have a sad ending .. -life is strange : you can sacrifice Chloe or Acadia bay -life is strange before the storm : It awesome .. but I already knew that Rachel died .. especially after the ending .. when they showed us that Jefferson is taking pictures of her ... *sigh* -life is strange farewell : when Chloe said to max that her parents should be home right now .. I said : oh no not again ! I mean I just want to see Chloe happy for some times .. Even that max is the main protagonist .. I felt in love with Chloe ! Her style .. the way she talks .. the way she acts .. Well whatever probably no one will see this comment but .. life is strange is literally the best story game !
Gotta be one of my personal favorite characters that doesn’t involve running around in a open world, killing enemies, and taking quests. She’s just.... human. I know the point of video games sometimes is to break that sense of reality to be a badass like Doomguy or Master Chief or Geralt. But sometimes the most impactful characters are the ones that are just like us. She emulates that in one of the most perfect ways to me.
Right. people just shit on chloes character for that one interaction. then they completely give up on her character and understanding why she is the way that she is. And it hurts me seeing people hate on her. I relate to her so much. My mom passed away a few years ago and me and her grieved in similar ways. Shes my comfort character. People who hate on her character just lack empathy.
This game was released when I was 14 and When I found out that Chloe's dad died in those years, I totally sympathized with her. In life is strange I fell in love with her, But after playing before the storm, I found out how much pain she was in and that it wasn't that easy for her. In Life is Strange, I just couldn't sacrifice Chloe in the end, because after everything she's been through, she died almost about 3 times without Max, her dad died, Rachel... and so on... She deserves a better life after all this... Never gonna stop loving her I know probably no one gonna read this, but I wanted to write what I feel ^^ By the way, thanks for this video ^^
Thanks for this video. I’m an Italian gamer and I played Life is Strange when this come out and Before the Storm during the last weekend. I’m in love with Chloe since the beginning, she’s realistic, complicated. I think she’s the real main character of all the story, not just the prequel. God, I need another game with her...
@@Grace-fx7xn Pretty much is, a lot of people are like that, plus there's no other reason to like such a huge badly written bitch of a character. She's like just liked cuz her look and archetype, dyed hair punk lesbian oh wow so amazing haha best character. Life is strange has awful writing in general, but Chloe takes the cake. Her only growth was literally the last minute she was alive. She's abusive and manipulative to Max, she victimizes herself throughout the entire game. She's like Alex fron Yiik.
I really enjoyed this character analysis of Chloe Price, who everyone know and love very dearly. How her life went upside down before her very eyes, how her relationships changed her, how she learned forgiveness and acceptance. How her character developed fantastically. It's refreshing all the way through and i too noticed some of the things about her that i haven't before that are worth noting. It's interesting how she dominated and nailed 2 of the seasons she were in. I'm just glad that she found happiness again
What a wonderful and thoughtful tribute to a brilliant character. I recently finished BtS and I wasn't prepared for how much of an emotional impact Chloe would have on me, especially when taken in combination with the original LiS. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this video, as it tied together so many thoughts that have been floating around my mind. Thank you so much for making it!
She’s such a relatable character. Her development is refreshing and amazing. Her moral about loss is relatable to me. I lost so many friends when I left Australia and all I have left is memories. Chloe also inspired me as a person, I honestly wanted to be like her, outspoken, brave and understanding and a rebel. Chloe is probably my favourite video game character.
this is exactly why the farewell episode intrigues me so much. shift from that episode to the prequel to the first game is chloe losing more and more of her innocence and even in subtle things like her hair and her room it’s easy to see the shift she’s gone through from losing her father, to max flaking out on her, to rachel fueling her bad habits, and then to max finally coming back. and that last episode sets the 3 eras of her character ark. she’s literally my favorite game character ever.
You gave an excellent commentary on Chloe Price’s character study!! Your writing was flawless & precisely on point. I loved the line when you said “She peeked her head out from the safety of her forts with Max, to a world filled with more drugs than pirates treasure!” Thank you for your interpretation of Chloe’s character….it was definitely befitting. Your commentary & writing is very inspiring… plz do a character study on Rachel’s character as well. You definitely earned a new subscriber!!
Man, your analysis had me in tears. I initially thought Chloe was a very difficult friend to have but she soon became my favourite character. She's a poster child for most unhappy kids who have sad stories behind their anger. Her simple, sweet childhood is relatable to most of us, most of us grew up in a suburban dream. And consequently most of us should be able to relate to her weight of sadness and fear when it seems like the world has abandoned her.
The depth displayed of Chloe as understood in all timelines, scenes and stages of life is incredible and unparreleld in games. Details of her loves, preferences, moods, pet peeves (no emojis), desires, dreams, interests build one of the most fully fleshed out characters in anything I've ever experienced. My favourite or most impactful character would still be Joyce, who silently and subtly possesses a similar sense of depth that feels that much more rewarding for the fact that it's easily missed-- her feelings for William, her dating life, her desire to quit smoking and go back to teaching, her financial worries she keeps hidden from Chloe, the reason she seeks out security and understands David's trauma. This video made me so happy to know others gleam a lot from the little details hidden in the game, from little preferences to journal entries
SO GLAD SOMEONE ELSE FEELS THIS WAY It's lovely that in before the storm and LIS1 you can gleam all this info just by taking an interest; it feels so much more special that way.
One of the most iconic and greatest written characters in gaming history. At first, I hated her, but EP 4 showed a different side of her that made me give her a second chance. She really grew on me, and now she's my favorite character out of the LiS universe.
*it's nice Rachel we're having* for real though i love this video, playing the games was an incredible experience in itself and those have definitely become some of my favorite games of all time (both LiS and Before the Storm) and Chloe is easily one of the best factors in the games
Chloe Price is one of my favorite characters in video games, although it’s odd to me as we’re not alike. Her nuanced evolution is unlike any character that captivated me. Thanks for the great video! I really enjoyed it and I subbed.
I love this video so much. You perfectly captured everything I love about Chloe and broke it down so wonderfully! She's been one of my favorite characters ever for such a long time and this video perfectly explains why
Chloe is honestly so close to my heart because my ex best friend also moved away when I needed her most (my mom got cancer when we were 9) and essentially ghosted me like Max did with Chloe. I know that it had the same impact on me and it's such a coincidence that my style evolved into something like Chloe's too. My ex best friend never came back and I've also been plagued with loss. But, playing through this game and BtS for the first time helped me give myself closure from my ex best friend leaving and never coming back
You picked up on so many details I hadn't noticed despite multiple playthroughs! The feeling of abandomnet by Rachel echoing the loss of her father being a major point if contact, is especially pertinent. Awesome video!
Great video, it's good to see someone who sees Chloe Price in all the context of her character and points it out like this. I am so deeply attached to her character for a number of reasons. As someone who has dealt with certain issues and had many friends who have too (including significant mood/emotional, impulse, & abandonment issues) what I see in her character is a girl who's been through - and is still going through - a lot of pain. I'd also like to point out the Farewell episode. I'm not sure if it was out at the time but I think the ending is important to her character. In all the context we are given, it makes sense that Chloe is mad at Max and fears that she's going to be abandoned by her (again).
I know how it feels to loose people cause I've lost so many in my life and with some I blame myself, I know what its like to feel abandoned and have the fear of being forgotten that's why Chloe is my favorite, cause I can relate to how she feels
Chloe touches me deeply... Your video brought a tear to my eye! Now I feel grateful for your work, which pays such a beautiful tribute to this memorable character, so THANK YOU!
I know I'm quite late but this is so amazing- You might see this as over-exaggerating but this video gives me goosebumps every time I watch it, I love LiS so much, Chloe has always been my favourite character and I'm not going to lie, it annoys me when I see how people dislike her, not everyone likes the same characters and I get that but they mainly don't like her because of how she was "bad" for Max, she's been through so much shit, her acting that way is as you said a persona, a way to forget about all the bad shit that is/has happened. Other times people get mad at Max for leaving Chloe behind, Max was young and didn't exactly have a say in it. She didn't reply to Chloe's messages because she was too scared to face her after what had happened. This is a long ass message and I kinda went off track but hey.
omg such a huge thank you for analysing this amasing charachter!! :') i don't know if i can love anyone that much as i love chloe right now, after replaying all episodes, crying on them, and then watching your video :_) she is really priceless. can't imagine me sacrificing her life in the first part of the game for the town (but it is of course killing me sometimes also...). her becoming an adult is uhh so!! i dunno!! makes you think of so many things. and makes a completely new person out of you after the game
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Chloe. I see a lot of people dislike her based on her being irrational or getting mad over minor stuff or just the logical choice. I don't think these people get her. such a beautiful and carefully curated character. Absolute props to the devs. Chloe is absolutely transition goals. Her style/ outfit, and her personality are all just so good. her actual personality that is, not the one she's putting up. I feel like i get her and she absolutely inspires me, dare I say is activly, at this moment changing my life. This is art
I appreciate them all and feel the blend of them all. The need to act up, quiet compassion, introspection...I don't think people often read this the right way. Everyone is flawed. That's how it is. You live life and if it's absolutely perfect, good for you, you're acting.
@@gohan2791 how tf is a character flaw a sign of bad writing? that doesn't make any sense. In general, the people who can relate to her best seem to be the ones who went through some hardship themselves. We can feel and relate to her pain, her sense of helplessness, betrail, loneliness, and lostness. we can feel and relate to her irrational anger, her lashing out and blaming others. but we also see the person hiding beneath that. The kid that had to stop being a kid without ever growing up. She is very, very human, in that way. it's the imperfections that make her a perfectly written character. thats the part you seem to miss and I'm honestly baffled by that. and if you're telling me that you never blamed someone else or got mad at someone for something you did, you're just lying
I love Max as much as Chloe. They're perfect for each other. Pricefield was a really apt name for their relationship - they're inseparable. As Max - we're pushed into the narrative to save "the girl", and we see Max would not hesitate to help those in need. When we realize that the girl she saved was her long lost friend - none of us would choose to rewind our decision. The way Chloe has Max on her mind after being abandoned - like in her journal, it stresses us to save her no matter what. If BtS were to only let us build Chloe into an antagonist, or not let us help her make good decisions, like being nice to those around her - even then, it would be a stretch to say it is her fate to die. The fact that the universe seemingly wants her dead is reason alone to save Chloe and give her a chance to reconnect with Max.
Damn, the video was released 5 years ago and I'm probably the only one commenting after that but I will do it for catharsis anyway. When I first played LiS, I was in a very complicated time in my life, after the loss of my father, I turned very bad, dressed and make up black, ripped clothes, spiky chokers and huge boots. And my hair was dyed blue. I was shocked when I discovered this character, who was physically like me, but who had also experienced the same loss and reacted the same way. She became like some sort of comfort character, to remember I was not alone and sometimes I would think of her during suicidal thoughts to find strenght not to give up. This character impacted me so much and helped me to cope with all of this, and became an image deeply rooted in my own world. William's car scene wrecked me, in a such weird way, because I also wanted some kind of refuge in memories with my own father. I remember crying for hours after playing those scenes, because I related so much that it was unbearable. Yet, I still needed to play, just because seeing someone I related so much with soothed me. It is really weird how grateful I am to a character in a video game. But I am grateful, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you Chloe Price
After playing LiS & BtS man fuck. I fell in love with who Chloe is. I could relate to so many aspects of her life. Being alone, everybody abandoning her, being treated differently, the situation with David, we had a scary amount of similarities. I definitely couldn’t sacrifice her at the end. Bae > Bay
14:34 dude this part of the editing was so cool! :) i loved this video. you think pretty similar to me actually when it comes to this stuff!! i would probably describe it as... careful & methodic, reflective of what the past means to the characters, how characters feel & how they act because of those feelings or express them, what their motives are & what theyre afraid of, how all these things tie into relationships between characters. honestly, just generally taking a step back and looking at all of it. you realized and noted some things about chloe i totally didnt see so this was awesome to watch.
I relate to Chloe a lot. On a deep and personal level as well as just little random things we have in common. Before the passing of my father, I was a really happy child, doing normal child things. At the age of 10, when my father died, I became just, sad. Not really putting on a tough image for myself, just closing up and spiralling down a hill of, i guess you could say, loss of innocence. Fast forward a few years, I get deep in the depression hole and get diagnosed with social anxiety. Rachel (my best friend irl) was the only one I had. She helped with that a bit, always texting and calling, inviting me to stay over, and just playing games together. After a few years, I lost all of my friends and never went out or did anything. Now, as a 16 year old, Rachel and my boyfriend are all I have. I've found myself going into thst deep, dark hole again. Even using drugs and wanting to just, rebel agaisnt everyone and everything.
Chloe blames william for his owm death even though its outside of his control, LMFAO then she also steals from charity i hope you dont some how do these things
Your name is the perfect description of y shes an ass character, Chloe also is a grimmy person Who steals and get mad at the person who accused her of stealing what she stool
Warning: I occasionally use swear words and profanity (4 times in this). I also talk about traumatic and triggering topics like death and violence. If you don’t like that, please keep scrolling. Additionally, the following will contain spoilers for the *entire* Life is Strange franchise. If you haven’t finished playing it all, I highly recommend you do so and then continue reading. See you in approximately 62 hours. I like Chloe a lot. Like a whole lot. However, I understand why people would dislike her. She definitely is stubborn, clingy, and sometimes rude - I admit that. Still, I just can’t help but connect her negative traits with her lifetime of hardships and pain. Now, let’s get into the traumatic life of Chloe Price. Chloe’s trauma starts around 2008. All in a few minutes, her world falls apart. (Game: Farewell - Before the Storm DLC) Max somberly tells her forever best friend Chloe that she’ll be moving hours away from the Bay to Seattle - and just minutes after that, Chloe’s doting mother Joyce opens the door sobbing with police officer accompanying her. Her father William - Chloe’s whole world - taken from her in a car crash. Just like that, Chloe Price’s life was completely obliterated. To make everything worse, her cat Bongo died the same way as William - a car crash - just before the events of Farewell. All of this caused Chloe to spiral into drugs, alcohol and sex at the young age of 14. Before this turn of events, Chloe was a brilliant young science enthusiast. (This is referenced a few times throughout the Life is Strange franchise. It’s most apparent in Farewell though, examples being when Chloe and Max exploded something, and Chloe explaining how she turned her rivals bunsen burner up. You can also see an Elements of the Periodic Table poster up somewhere near Chloe’s bed.) After the events of Farewell and briefly during Before the Storm (more on this edition later), Chloe is being ruthlessly stalked by her ex-boyfriend Eliot. He has apparent poems fantasizing of murdering Chloe, because if he can’t have her then apparently nobody can. (Game: Life is Strange Before the Storm, abbreviated BTS) The morning after the deal with Rachel Amber saving Chloe at the Firewalk concert, you can see the tension between Chloe and her step-father David Madsen, head of Blackwell security and notorious character in Life is Strange. More on David later. If you look through Chloe’s phone messages with her old friend Max in BTS or listen to dialogue with popular girl Rachel Amber, you will realize Max has completely ghosted Chloe in her time of need. At this point, it’s been 3 years - but Max will end up making it 5. Later, Chloe gets expelled from Blackwell. Although this is a dream for her, it makes things a hell of a lot harder on Joyce and David. On the whole, this doesn’t look like huge trauma, but it doesn’t at all make things easier on Chloe. (Game: Life is Strange, abbreviated LIS) In the original Life is Strange game, Chloe shows more and more of her trauma. In the first episode, a “blue-haired girl” is literally shot in the girl’s bathroom by the notorious Nathan-freaking-Prescott. You, or I guess Max, later learn that the blue-haired girl is Chloe. Additionally, Nathan will also kidnap, drug and assault Chloe. This happen before the events of Life is Strange. Not only that, but at the end of episode 4, Mr. Jeffershit will kill her. Chloe’s death can be fixed through Max’s rewind ability, but her assault story cannot. Later on in the game, you are going to find the dead body of Rachel - killed by none other than Nathan Prescott - who becomes one of Chloe’s most dearest friend in Before the Storm. All of Chloe’s hope that Rachel may be alive is ripped away from her. (I think when Rachel says “Don’t be surprised, Chloe, if one day, I’m just out of here.” may be foreshadowing to this, although I’m not sure if the developers ever confirmed it.) Remember what I said about the tension between Chloe and David? Matters are only made worse when David moves in, as you can guess. Although this isn’t shown in-depth, on the surface, David isn’t the kindest of fathers. He’s a little abusive and rough with Chloe, treating his stepdaughter like he’d treat a delinquent at Blackwell. Things don’t look so hot for her. (Game: Wavelengths - Life is Strange True Colors DLC) Wavelengths doesn’t have much to do with Chloe, besides her voice being heard in a few memories and flashbacks of the main character, record store and radio DJ Steph. However, Chloe and Steph were close friends in BTS, and it seems at though Steph moved and ghosted Chloe in adulthood. (Sound familiar?) I get why some don’t like Chloe. She’s not at all perfect. She can be moody, rude, selfish, rebellious, and much more not-so-great things at times. I just hope this may have helped some people realize *why.* If I missed anything, don’t hesitate to reply! Wishing you all a spectacular 2022. Thanks for reading.
This video was exactly what I was hoping it would be and then some. I love reading into personalities and characters in video games and you did an amazing job hitting every point. You talked about her father, which ultimately shaped her into who she is now. And the minute connections between her relationship with the train with Rachel, with Max, and by herself. Excellent synopsis, I definitely subscribed and hope I find more content like this on your page (:
You did a fantastic job explanation this character. I saw many videos explaining how bad Chloe is a person, but without really diving into why she is the way she it. But you did an excellent job dissecting her personality. Great job.
Holy shit I fucking love Kenny in Telltale’s The Walking Dead. He reminds me of Chloe Price from this game because they lost family members and people purposely antagonize them for it.
I love this vid soo much and i relate to Chloe in some ways, and everyone can relate to her and she will always be my fav character forever and the whole franchise.
You can see there are two kinds of people: The ones who HATE her and the ones who simp for her and love her regarding the reviews and analytics on youtube
Honestly I didn’t understand why Chloe Price was like the way she was. However when my life went to shit just as of recent and when I played Life Is Strange again and before the storm I 100% understand now, because I understand the struggle and hardships. I also began to understand Chloe as a person when I read The Catcher In The Rye. With Holden Caulfield
Chloe is the Most my fav character, and max , rachel , especially kate. I really like it, LiS n LiSbts is so much emotional for me.. reminds me of my friendships.. hmm.
people seem to think in black and white, as if chloe can’t be a good character because she’s done bad things. people only like traumatized characters if they resemble a meek, passive little kid who can’t stand up for themselves, or are just any random man lmfao. it’s never extended to girls/women. where’s that support when it comes to those who aren’t like that? whose trauma made them angry, and loud, and mean. the same water that softens the potato, hardens the egg 🤷🏻♀️ not everyone has the same experiences and it’s important to portray that in media, and considering the amount of people that love and relate to chloe-they succeeded.
I've just finished life is stange and calm before the storm (late to the party) and i honestly don't think i have ever loved a character in a game as much as Chloe. I don't know why. Shes not similar to me and shes not similar to anyone i know. I like the way shes a loose cannon and broken by life but she is still full of life and makes moments special and fun. She loves hard and cares deepy but she doesnt seem to like anyone easily. I love that she carries around little pieces of the people she loves with her, whether its her clothing, hair dye, tattoos... I'll miss her now i've completed the games. On to my next game 😂 Edit: not ashamed to say, I saved Chloe 😂
I think playing Before The Storm and then Life Is Strange in that order is critical to understanding Chloe and growing to love her. My first impression of Chloe was that first scene in BTS when Chloe is smoking a cigarette on the railroad tracks before going to the Firewalk concert. But if my first impression of Chloe was the bathroom scene with Nathan. I can see how people would get a bad impression. Because you have no idea what's happened in her life. So throughout the entire game you don't understand her. You're viewing Max as the main protagonist and Chloe as just a side character. Whereas if you play BTS first you see Chloe as the main protagonist even while playing through LIS 1. Maybe also because my dad died of cancer just months before I played the games and I was still young 21 and living with him at the time, completely destroying me and my entire life, also had dreams about my dad, also a punk rock kid, also have a step father named David, also had a best friend that parted ways with, also hated school, also drank and smoked. Chloe and her story was so incredibly relatable to me, I saw how important the events in her life were. So it was difficult for me to not see her as the main character and fall completely in love with her.
6:51 I'm not sure if I missed something in Episode 2, but I'm 90% sure the event your describing is from the first episode of BTS. I really, REALLY don't want to be "That guy", because this is a fantastic video.
im just as emotional as you all here in this video, we all had emotional feeling towards chloe and the choices we make on the last ep, i may be abit late but yea just a thought of mine.
I wanted to pop in and say that I'm so happy that so many people have enjoyed this video on an exceptional character! I also deeply appreciate your stories, and reading about the reasons these games have resonated with you.
This brings closure to me
This brings happiness to me a lot, thank u
I see a reflection of my life's experiences in Chloe, and playing as Max makes me want to help her not feel the things she's feeling.
Playing as Chloe seemed odd - she was full of angst, and rebellion, but the choices and abilities given to the player just seemed - tame. The graffiti also seemed tame. But seeing her personality develop through gameplay was interesting.
i would so much Love top See a Life ist Strange with Chloe as Main Charakter!what so you think about that?
I can relate to her I'm different ways she's one of my favorite characters
How would you have written her better? I think maybe make the way she interacts with her mum a bit less cold, but otherwise i can't really see much.
she's well written its not the characters in LiS that suck its the the dialogue that needs to be "written better" george lucas level dialogue at some points lmao
The bonus episode in LIS before the storm titled farewell. Where Chloe and Max were playing pirates and they dug up a treasure really made me sad. Who knew that in the very future they'll be digging up a loved one and not a treasure anymore.
Aww. 😢
I had exactly the same feeling!
A loved one is a treasure
I've always loved Chloe because of how relatable she is. But recently, my father died in a car crash and I was inside the car with him and I survived. Now I don't think I can ever find a character more relatable than Chloe. She's my favorite ever.
I am really sorry for your loss, and she's definitely an incredible character. Thanks for watching!
I’m so sorry for your loss
Voyager, be grateful you didn't smoke weed and get into a $5000 dollar debt with a lowly drug dealer and having to kill him and his dog to protect yourself. I know I'm stating the worst of Chloe and I'm proud of it, but you should be lucky you didn't end up like Chloe.
@@jessefawkes2128 Heh I'm getting there
I'm sorry man, my condolences, hope you're doing okay two years later.
I´ve lost my father when I wasn´t even one so I don´t know how it is to have one but my mother died when I was 12 and it broke my heart forever
I'm so sorry
My sincerest condolences.

Chloe is the daughter I'll never have. Never thought I would shed a tear over a video game character but I felt so paternal towards her.
She'd treat you terribly like she did her mother. But to each his own
@@Satan666fromhelShe did that because she is hurt, and her mother knew that (both are hurt)
She has a reason to be mean, is not like she is just a jerk because she got bored
Chloe Price is one of the best characters in Life is Strange.
You mean THE best.
Yep

Agreed
The best!
6:31 this point is why trauma that makes people grow up faster often leaves them less mentally grown up later in life and having more childish tendencies (such as being dependent on others) - Chloe
Chloe Price, Clementine, and Ellie are the fictional characters that made me feel some type of way on them.
-life is strange : you can sacrifice Chloe or Acadia bay
-life is strange before the storm : It awesome .. but I already knew that Rachel died .. especially after the ending .. when they showed us that Jefferson is taking pictures of her ... *sigh*
-life is strange farewell : when Chloe said to max that her parents should be home right now ..
They should have made multiple endings in this game.

Dominic Hartford honestly, same here :/
Have you only seen one movie? Or only played one game?
@@SpectrGamingg If she's the most dimensional character in the whole series, it doesn't mean she's a good character
Man... I have no words to describe this video. Just... Awesome

Finally someone who understands Chloe and not just shits on her because "Chloe grr max picked up Kate's phone call so Chloe bad person"
Right. people just shit on chloes character for that one interaction. then they completely give up on her character and understanding why she is the way that she is. And it hurts me seeing people hate on her. I relate to her so much. My mom passed away a few years ago and me and her grieved in similar ways. Shes my comfort character. People who hate on her character just lack empathy.
Great video, and I agree so much with "Rachel is the fuel to Chloe's worst impulses while Max is her saviour." And that's why I ship pricefield
Never gonna stop loving her
I know probably no one gonna read this, but I wanted to write what I feel ^^
By the way, thanks for this video ^^
Thanks for this video. I’m an Italian gamer and I played Life is Strange when this come out and Before the Storm during the last weekend. I’m in love with Chloe since the beginning, she’s realistic, complicated. I think she’s the real main character of all the story, not just the prequel.
God, I need another game with her...
This was great. Chloe is one of my favorite characters of all time. She's so flawed and complicated and goes through so much growth.
She's great! and thank you so much!
@@laddkenn thats not even true but whatever
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you liked it!
SO GLAD SOMEONE ELSE FEELS THIS WAY
It's lovely that in before the storm and LIS1 you can gleam all this info just by taking an interest; it feels so much more special that way.
Beautiful comment
One of the most iconic and greatest written characters in gaming history. At first, I hated her, but EP 4 showed a different side of her that made me give her a second chance. She really grew on me, and now she's my favorite character out of the LiS universe.

for real though i love this video, playing the games was an incredible experience in itself and those have definitely become some of my favorite games of all time (both LiS and Before the Storm) and Chloe is easily one of the best factors in the games
Chloe Price is one of my favorite characters in video games, although it’s odd to me as we’re not alike. Her nuanced evolution is unlike any character that captivated me. Thanks for the great video! I really enjoyed it and I subbed.

Michael Dammar thank you!
Hmmm I miss Rachel she was hella awesome

Thank you so much for sharing that 🖤 I'm glad she resonated so deeply with you, and that you stumbled across this video!
Chloe and Clementine are responsible for the only 2 times I've ever cried in games.
Chloe blames william for his owm death even though its outside of his control, LMFAO then she also steals from charity i hope you dont some how do these things
this was a beautiful character analysis of one of my favourite characters ever, thank you!!!

(Game: Farewell - Before the Storm DLC)
Max somberly tells her forever best friend Chloe that she’ll be moving hours away from the Bay to Seattle - and just minutes after that, Chloe’s doting mother Joyce opens the door sobbing with police officer accompanying her.
You can also see an Elements of the Periodic Table poster up somewhere near Chloe’s bed.)
After the events of Farewell and briefly during Before the Storm (more on this edition later), Chloe is being ruthlessly stalked by her ex-boyfriend Eliot.
(I think when Rachel says “Don’t be surprised, Chloe, if one day, I’m just out of here.” may be foreshadowing to this, although I’m not sure if the developers ever confirmed it.)
Remember what I said about the tension between Chloe and David?
(Sound familiar?)
I get why some don’t like Chloe. She’s not at all perfect. She can be moody, rude, selfish, rebellious, and much more not-so-great things at times. I just hope this may have helped some people realize *why.*
If I missed anything, don’t hesitate to reply!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it ☺️
thank you so much for this review. really means a lot
I find myself wanting to make Chloe happy with every choice and I get mad when a youtuber hurt Chloe’s feelings. That’s how much I love this character
Same
You did a fantastic job explanation this character. I saw many videos explaining how bad Chloe is a person, but without really diving into why she is the way she it. But you did an excellent job dissecting her personality. Great job.
Thank you so much!
Being a victim or naive person does not justify immoral behavior LMFAO Yall people literally cant recognize shes an abuser
I relate to her sooo much. Her and my personality are basically the same. I love her soooo much
This video and your analyzing make me look at Chloe in a new light, one I’ve never noticed before. So, thank you
Thank you so much for watching, and for the kind words 😌
I came back to this video after what Deck Nine did to her in DE
It would be cool to have a life is strange game about rachel, what happened with frank etc
That was beautiful. You got Chloe quite accurately. I can only hope you can do one just as amazing for Kenny in Telltales Walking Dead.
Holy shit I fucking love Kenny in Telltale’s The Walking Dead. He reminds me of Chloe Price from this game because they lost family members and people purposely antagonize them for it.
I never noticed that it’s the same train in LIS the original and Before The Storm…the attention to details in these games is mind blowing
Same! I didn't know until I was editing clips and spotted it! Awesome little detail there
Thankyou for this amazing video for one of the best characters ever!
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I love this vid soo much and i relate to Chloe in some ways, and everyone can relate to her and she will always be my fav character forever and the whole franchise.
That's why I love Chloe so much.
I relate to her so much 🦋💙🥺
I saved this video so i can watch it whenever! Thank you
Thank you!
This brings me back to english class haha. Great analysis and scenes you picked
What a great video! You genuinely understand the character in the way the writers intended.
You can see there are two kinds of people:
The ones who HATE her and the ones who simp for her and love her regarding the reviews and analytics on youtube
Chloe is the best character and also my favourite I wish that she was real
Chloe is the Most my fav character, and max , rachel , especially kate. I really like it, LiS n LiSbts is so much emotional for me.. reminds me of my friendships.. hmm.
Really glad I stumbled upon this video. It's very well made and insightful.
Loved this video. Such a wonderful character analysis.
people seem to think in black and white, as if chloe can’t be a good character because she’s done bad things. people only like traumatized characters if they resemble a meek, passive little kid who can’t stand up for themselves, or are just any random man lmfao. it’s never extended to girls/women. where’s that support when it comes to those who aren’t like that? whose trauma made them angry, and loud, and mean.
the same water that softens the potato, hardens the egg 🤷🏻♀️ not everyone has the same experiences and it’s important to portray that in media, and considering the amount of people that love and relate to chloe-they succeeded.
This is a super duper video!! Chloe Price is one of my favourite characters of all time, so I appreciate this video a lot. Awesome sauce
Chloe Price is my second favorite character in all of the story media. I feel such a kinship to her. I feel exactly the way she does about so much
I've just finished life is stange and calm before the storm (late to the party) and i honestly don't think i have ever loved a character in a game as much as Chloe. On to my next game 😂
Edit: not ashamed to say, I saved Chloe 😂
Chloe is almost me in a game. I lost my dad. I got into some shit. I get in deep with my friends. I loved her
I never realized how bad Rachel and Chloe were for each-other until it was brought up in this video.
One of my favorite scenes from lis is when max and chloe are lying in the bed together I like that scene cuz everything was so peaceful and quiet
Thank you so much for this masterpiece.
Chloe is my favourite character from life is strange
Love how you explain this bro
Much appreciated 😎 I'm glad you enjoyed it
6:51 I'm not sure if I missed something in Episode 2, but I'm 90% sure the event your describing is from the first episode of BTS. I really, REALLY don't want to be "That guy", because this is a fantastic video.
Missed this game so much! Glad I'm back to rewatch this video
Thanks! I'd recommend my love letter to life is strange video if you're feeling nostalgic about it!
@@SpectrGamingg nice, how's life going for you?
im just as emotional as you all here in this video, we all had emotional feeling towards chloe and the choices we make on the last ep, i may be abit late but yea just a thought of mine.
