So I marched crown last year, but I still don't remember how we got this good lol 😂😂 it's so crazy!! Miss this so much! Thank you for another amazing video dude ❤️
You all were incredible last year, and your vids are awesome. DCI can be a great launching point for a serious artist and it's awesome to see you succeeding at that. / Glad I found the time to do this vid and hoping to have time to crank out more very soon :)
I could listen to that sequence at the end over and over again and never get tired of it. Seriously the most beautiful thing I have EVER heard. I don't know how many times I have replayed it and I seriously get teary eyed every single time.
This is the best video you've ever made: you're not color-blind - HDR was perfect rack focusing was flawless About time you started cropping top and bottom
Same here honestly. And not just because it was so good and the tuning was perfect. There was raw emotion that I could feel out of that. Truly glorious
+Victoria Stewart thanks! Before this, I never used a second camera while sitting in a circle - especially not handheld - but picked it up on a whim, hit record and ended up with something workable!
Oh my god I almost cried. Intonation was almost perfect and every chord sat nicely throughout each note change. you could hear every instrument. wow. Looking forward to watch DCI
Your vids have the most authentic sound of all the hornline channels on UA-cam. Thanks for capturing these moments that most of us can't experience first hand. Keep up the work, can't wait for your next video!!
Exactly why I made this channel. Getting to a show is inconvenient for many fans as it is, but catching hornlines in the lot would be next to impossible for most fans without missing everything they paid to see at the show! Thanks for watching and hope to have more up soon!
Wow! All I can say is Wow! As a former Bari' I am astounded how far drum corps talent has gone. My last show was in Madison, Wi 1985. I since enlisted in the military, and haven't seen a show from the stands. I think aging out was very painful for me, so I lost touch with the musical world. Seeing the talent of the Carolina Crown horn linehas made me get off the couch (metaphor) and go to a show. 😎
Now with the new UA-cam update, watching this at 75x speed, every time 3:39 plays, it brings tears to my eyes, the sound produced is epic and very beautiful
Chills... Every freakin time. Makes me miss my days as brass captain. I've never heard of this group until yesterday. I am smitten!!! Thank God for this director and his incredible, hard working musicians.
I’m 6 years late but this is absolutely jaw dropping from 3:30 onward. It’s easily one of the most pleasurable things I’ve ever heard in my entire life.
I marched drum corps for 15 years. I was a snare drummer. Up till now, I always thought the drumline was the coolest, most bad ass part of the corps. Well, after watching and listening to this horn line, ive changed my mind! Musicality? Dynamics? Just an incredible performance. I still have goosebumps! FROM A DEDICATED SNARE DRUMMER.....YOU FREAKING GO HORN LINE!
Someone please tell me what that cord change is called at 3:39. I've heard that similar change in Zimmer's work. That drop at 3:30 made my eyes tear up and I started sweating.... My life flashed before my eyes. I can't tell you why I started crying... All I know is I was happy when it happened.
Just a few days after this show I was at the Music For All camp, and I got to hear it in person, and it's completely different it made me cry just hearing them live plus I was sitting inside the circle which was pretty lit.
I just 'discovered' the great Carolina Crown of 2017 in 2021 ! I can't get enough of them! Incredible sound! I enjoy watching the main conductor also! Well done to all 👍👏+
Haha, I commented two days ago on a video and it was a highlight of Crown just like this one is, and I commented "Can't wait for HornlineFanatic" and boy you really never disappoint with the quality of these videos. Also, if they're this clean this early in the season I can't wait to hear them towards finals time. Hopefully will be there live this year, i'm pretty excited.
For sure, along with being cleaner, they will be even louder (as hard as it may be to believe). Brutal is probably a good description :) Last year when I caught Crown in an arc at Chester (late season), my ears sounded like they were distorting. Thanks for the kind words and enjoy those live shows!
Man I wish I could play a brass instrument, but honestly since im only in 8th grade this music makes me want to strive to do better, I swear these warm-ups literally make me cry every time I hear them because you can feel the emotions change throughout the ending parts especially in this one, from what sounds like anger, to a little more delicate in the background, love stuff like this keep it up man! :D
+Chris Knezevich thanks! Just creating vids I would have wanted to watch back in middle / high school! Keep up the musicianship and also, it's never too late to pick up a new instrument! There are many woodwind players who learned brass just to march drum corps 🎷🎺
Im not a music major. In fact i only know the basic little from a music sample class in high school. But that event at 3:39 touched me deep on the inside. I didnt know what to call it until i got to the comments.
Honestly, I haven't heard a brass sound this good since the 89 SCV. I just switched from trombone to tuba for my high school in hopes of being good enough to join this core. Also, I love listening to all of your videos on full blast with my stereo headphones because it sounds like I'm right there. Thank you so much for making this video 👍
Great video! I was across the way a bit and I saw you filming! I am jealous of the audio quality you have within this video. I was kinda stupid and didn't replace batteries, and my good mic died right before I filmed Crown that night... I love the rack focuses you do between the drum major and the hornlines! Keep up the great work man. You've earned my subscription for sure. Hope to see you in the lot again sometime soon.
Missing out on footage due to equipment problems is always heartbreaking! In 2013 I did all my filming on an iPhone 4S that kept dying (old battery). Since then, I've been pretty much on top of the battery situation (I always test my mic batteries before a trip), though I have forgotten my mic before, one time I didn't plug it in all the way, and other times I just forgot to hit record. So I definitely feel your pain! Thanks for the kind words, and maybe see you out there!
My assistant band director marched for crown and we had set warm ups and stuff and then he came and started making changes to it and I just now understood where he got it from. Repeating the sets, stepping out on each note change in warm ups. I always thought they were dumb but i get it now.
My ears hurt after listening to this with my headphones connected to my TV. I always have the bass boosted a little bit more than what the treble is just so I can hear my lovely contras some more. Amazing audio quality
There’s something about the Carolina crowns hornline that gives me goosebumps every time. As a snare player and a first bass player in Drumline I absolutely love hearing the horns blast behind me ❤️❤️
Its not quite that easy with Crown. That inner circle is considered holy ground. Only alumni that aged out are permitted in there. Even myself, who marched two seasons and unfortunately couldn't finish my last two years cannot step foot inside the circle. So getting in there with a camera to record is pretty rare- I'd imagine its because these videos come so darn close to what its like to hear it live!
I think Matt Harloff's sole purpose on Earth has been to make this hornline what it is
Is he their main director? I have seen they have multiple directors?
@@adamchristie7626 He is the brass caption head for crown
People pointing out the chord at 3:39, we called that the money chord 💰
So I marched crown last year, but I still don't remember how we got this good lol 😂😂 it's so crazy!! Miss this so much! Thank you for another amazing video dude ❤️
You played it better!
You all were incredible last year, and your vids are awesome. DCI can be a great launching point for a serious artist and it's awesome to see you succeeding at that. / Glad I found the time to do this vid and hoping to have time to crank out more very soon :)
HornlineFanatic dude keep doing what you're doing! You're the best at what you do! So much respect! 👌🏼
DCIaddict2601 yo Antonio this is before Tony the Fireman came out. Lol
DCIaddict2601 I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL, LOVED THE VID YOU DID ON THE OPENER OF CROWNS SHOW❤
Low brass at 3:39... Makes the world stop for a second. Spectacular. Thanks for the video sir.
adrockthegamecock the low brass takes your breath away
If I could marry that moment I would
I was going to say the same thing - just amazing!
clark bolding lol no doubt
This thread has such artsy comments :)
Thanks for watching!!
3:30 ->The voice of God. The chord change at 3:39 is bone-chilling. Simply...absolutely incredible.
yeah that Dsus4 - Dm7 - EbMaj9 - EbMaj7 always gives me goosebumps
That chord resolve at 3:39 is absolutely incredible.
I could listen to that sequence at the end over and over again and never get tired of it. Seriously the most beautiful thing I have EVER heard. I don't know how many times I have replayed it and I seriously get teary eyed every single time.
Just a comment so you remember that this video exist so you can listen to it again.
This is the best video you've ever made:
you're not color-blind - HDR was perfect
rack focusing was flawless
About time you started cropping top and bottom
Thanks buddy :)
1:23 Are you freakin kiddin me? That might even outdo E=MC^2's 16th run
They have such a warm tone. Much warmer than coats for sure.
You can feel the raw emotion throughout the chords in the 3:27 progression. Literally puts you into the music.
I love how you can hear everyone breathe at 3:30
Legit brought tears to my eyes 3:39
clark bolding I feel you
Still does, 4 years later.
Same here honestly. And not just because it was so good and the tuning was perfect. There was raw emotion that I could feel out of that. Truly glorious
The low brass wreak havoc this year goodness
The sky, the camera position and music at the end feels like a movie. Great job
+Victoria Stewart thanks! Before this, I never used a second camera while sitting in a circle - especially not handheld - but picked it up on a whim, hit record and ended up with something workable!
HornlineFanatic it looks absolutely amazing
Oh my god I almost cried. Intonation was almost perfect and every chord sat nicely throughout each note change. you could hear every instrument. wow. Looking forward to watch DCI
Abdul Muhammad Crown is the best
Crown has no equal

Matt Harloff is doing God's work.
I love how they throw hints from their show from their the year before
Wow! All I can say is Wow! As a former Bari' I am astounded how far drum corps talent has gone. My last show was in Madison, Wi 1985. Never clicked on a video faster
Google Sucks bruh...
Thanks for watching :)
IT'S STILL ONLY JUNE.
Adam Voegele I swear to God if crown doesn't pull it this year I'm calling hacks
I love this brass book and thank you for bringing us these videos
My pleasure!
Now with the new UA-cam update, watching this at 75x speed, every time 3:39 plays, it brings tears to my eyes, the sound produced is epic and very beautiful
this year is shaping up to be amazing across all the corps
i didn't tear up, you did
Once again, I'm amazed at the sound you get from this great hornline ! WOW great work !!!
It's all Crown - I just pressed the same buttons on the same equipment I've been using since 2014 :) Thanks for watching.
THE PEDAL Eb!!!!!! Seriously though, that is such a cool sound from crown's tubas. Love the music this season.
Damn the low brass is really pumping out that line in No One
The mellophones at 2:04 😍😍 I can't stop listening to that
Chills... Every freakin time.
Makes me miss my days as brass captain.
I've never heard of this group until yesterday.
I am smitten!!!
Thank God for this director and his incredible, hard working musicians.
Are you new to the activity as a whole?! If so, welcome!! Hope you’ll catch them in person this summer!
THE JIM OTT LIVES ON
Sounds like the hornline from 2013 stupid clean
And it's only June
It begins! Thank you HornlineFanatic!
Thank you for the support :)
*points at camera* That ending gets me every time! Greatness appreciating greatness.
I saw a P71 crown victoria in the back ground of the intro. Nice touch. Lovin it.
Even the Crown Vic looks focused and intense
best hornline in the world right her folks
What's there to say? Pure excellence, crown.
I have never had something consistently give me chills every time I hear it as well as that chord at 3:39.
I’m 6 years late but this is absolutely jaw dropping from 3:30 onward. It’s easily one of the most pleasurable things I’ve ever heard in my entire life.
I choked on my food at 3:39. Just phenomenal.
Careful there!! :[
I could listen to this Brass line daily. 3:39 chord change...all the feels, chills and thrills I needed! Crown=Jim Ott!
Ive seen the hammer drop vid many of times. But tonight ive discovered 2017 tuning sequence. I CANT STOP REPLAYING.
I love Crowns warm up chord progressions. So unique, so powerful, so much emotion.
I wonder how it'll go from the last part to the actual ending and the famous crown. I love it.
I marched drum corps for 15 years. I was a snare drummer. Up till now, I always thought the drumline was the coolest, most bad ass part of the corps. This is way balance sounds like
3:37 that resolving chord transition sounded so deep and pure oh my god.
I have this shit memorized already lmao. listened to it probably 30 times already.
Man 3:39 is perfect. Horns are responsible of course. But the camera and lighting....cherry on top.
Omg no matter how many times you see this, it still amazes how freaking good this brass section is
Oh man, you got a point. You're famous now.
At 2:29 when the mellos and trumpets work those 16th notes down....... I never noticed that. Simply amazing.
The low brass sounds so good at 3:39
Their DARK, and RICH sound reminds me of 89 Phantom Regiment minus the articulation. 4:07 " Note to all DCI Brass "CROWNS COMING FOR YOU!!!
dropping the bass @ 3:39. OMG low brass!
I just witnessed crown at Muncie Indiana tonight. Thanks for making me able to re-live that experience
Goosebumps everywhere right now... That sound is absolutely mind boggling. Just outstanding!!! I'll see them this Sunday!
I‘m Swiss and i honestly have no idea about horns, brass etc. but the moment @ 3:39 was absolutly „soulblowing“! That‘s pure emotions!
Welcome! How did you manage to stumble upon this vid, may I ask? :)
Oh my jeezers....you guys never cease to amaze me!
I first saw CC from a Tiktok video that showed from 3:22 on of this video....OH MY GOD!. We have a DC from where I'm from but this right here.........
Amazing all around! Great recording
very good! love crown's show this year
Split bass lines always give me goosebumps. Not sure why, but this one does even more so.
Someone please tell me what that cord change is called at 3:39. I've heard that similar change in Zimmer's work. That drop at 3:30 made my eyes tear up and I started sweating.... My life flashed before my eyes.
I can't tell you why I started crying... All I know is I was happy when it happened.
Awesome job guys and gals! Crown Rocks!!
Listening to this with Bose QC 35's just make it 😭😭😭🙌🏾

I play Alto Sax but My parents and my band director know that im down to learn anything new, trumpet sounds like fun though
And I feel in love with Carolina's director because of the passion he has for music, and the way he wants his band to strive to do better

Lmao I forgot I posted this, but update on this, I've been contracted for Crossmen for the last 2 years
1:29-1:36 my absolute favorite part of the show
wow the overtones in the exercise around the 3 minute mark are crazy
Great video! I was across the way a bit and I saw you filming! I am jealous of the audio quality you have within this video. Great video as always! Love seeing these on my feed.
Thanks for watching!!
I love the way Matt always points to the camera at the end
At 1:30 a lot of the volume just smacks you in the face when the Mellos come In with that kick ass rip
that's so interesting, how they did the part at 3:30 in G minor and Bb minor(in another vid). i like the Bb minor more but they both are unreal.
My ears hurt after listening to this with my headphones connected to my TV. I always have the bass boosted a little bit more than what the treble is just so I can hear my lovely contras some more. Amazing audio quality
Sad they won't be at mpls show 7/8. Saw them in Mankato last year and almost died.
3:29 So much passion... that's incredible
Because Matt Harloff. Proud to say he taught me at Regiment!
greatest group of human beings to ever grace my ears.
This is why I subbed @4:05
Thanks for your sub :)
Definetly my favorite lot video at this point. Love the sounds crown can produce with such power and energy. I hope to be apart of this someday.
There’s something about the Carolina crowns hornline that gives me goosebumps every time. As a snare player and a first bass player in Drumline I absolutely love hearing the horns blast behind me ❤️❤️
Crown is just so balanced. Perfect balance from low brass to high brass. Its amazing.
Back at it!!
That is the good Crown sound. You guys sound amazing!
1:31-1:37 why haven’t I seen anyone talk about that part? It’s just that awesome y’all!
Sounds amazing. Crown never disappoints
That was amazing!!!!
Thank you for posting
Lol that point at the end was awesome
The best brass sound ever. My mouth dropped at 3:30
3:30 and 3:39 perfection/incredible. Just wow!
This video makes me smile.
How do you get that close of access to so many corps? I'm glad you do!
Most corps will let you watch or even film them warming up! It's really cool to see!
Its not quite that easy with Crown. That inner circle is considered holy ground. Only alumni that aged out are permitted in there. A Passacaglia in c minor version by Bach at the end! Awesome!
