They sound like the difference between a nice home stereo system and a cell phone speaker...these "id:core" amps being the cell phone speakers. They sound absolutely terrible "in the room".
I checked both Thomann and Sweetwater to see how much this amp cost. Thomann has it at 185 euros and Sweetwater at 160 Dollars so it's up to you to see if you can get other options at the same price point.
I just grabbed the v4 10watt version new for 130€ to replace my recently defunct v2. To think that I bought the v2 new for 70€. Great little amp to be honest. Has a nice variety of default tones and you also have the software if you really want to sculpt your own. Light, relatively small and loud enough to have your neighbours send the cops on you. Oh, and looking at the alternatives, also relatively cheap.
The fact they didn’t do Bluetooth for backing tracks on this amp is insane 🤦♂️ As a guitarist who’s owned many great amps I love this thing stereo makes it sound huge very simple not much tweaking needed great plug n play amp for home use
Hi there, I own an original release Blackstar ID Core stereo 40 (V1) which I bought used at my local Music-Go-Round for under $100 USD a few years ago and then a Starcaster Strat electric guitar By: Fender (said that on the head stock) a year later for about the same price. I did severe mods and upgrades to the Strat including the hand made custom extended brushed stainless steel pick guard loaded with 3 quad rail humbuckers and wired like a '40's Les Paul with P/P vol. pots for coil splits and the bridge tone pot also a P/P to activate the bridge and neck Pick ups together regardless of the 5-way selector switch position. and may also add blue LED's for active coil indicator lights as well. Using the second side of the P/P switch sections of the Vol. pots. With the amp controls and all the tonal variations available in the guitar controls I haven't bothered to count them all yet.. Theoretically there may be virtually unlimited tones available iin truth.. and when I add a pair of switched external speaker output jacks into the amp speaker wiring to power a pair of vertical 4X12 tower cabs, this rig will sound even better than it already does with the 6.5 in stereo speakers in the amp. I can also use an adaptor cable from the 3.5mm headphone output jack in the amp to 2 RCA's into the CD input of my surround sound receiver and out through all the surround speakers including the powered subwoofer. This gives me even fuller and deeper tones overall as well as a lot more volume to annoy the noisy neighbors. LOL ... the stars and planets paintjob on the guitar body and head stock reflect the new name i gave my totally custon Strat...the "Stellarcaster" the black background and the silver micro glitter tinted with deep blue airbrushed accents along with the brushed stainless steel pick guard makes for a beautiful , unique and great sounding guitar. with other upgrades including roller bridge saddles and the replace4d pot metal trem block with a full size solid brass trem block, roller string trees, a titanium nutand locking tuners. I strung it with a 9-46 set and tuned it to e-Flat standard. like any good Strat should be tuned. I unique guitar that if built by the Fender Custom Shop would probably cost over 10 tines the cost I built it for. all told, including the guitar purchase and the tools I bought for the project and all the parts and materials. the total i have into this build is just under $500 USD total. so very cost efficient not including the value of my labor. but them this is my very first ever guitar build project even though I went all out on it. the experience i gained on this project will dtand me in good stead for the next ones to come. the first of which will be an Esquire (Tala) with classic wiring. using the Tele bridge Pickup from Dylan Talks Tone. wound as part of an experiment between Dylan and another Pickup maker using all the same parts and winding machine to see if there would be any differences from one builder to the other and there was a slight diff. I got the one Dylan made that day as a random give away. the pickup in just waiting to go into my next guitar build. ... wish me luck...
Excellent video! Amps regardless if they are tube or solid state will simply go away for the hobbyists. Pros and collectors will always buy them. I've played many decades and have switched to tonex and other "amps in a box". Don't get me wrong, tube amps "move the tone" unlike a solid state, software or pedal can recreate, but the cost/weight/tube prices/repairs make tube amps only suitable for a small population
Does the USB work as a load box? Or DI? I hate the recessed panel. If you wanna use a crimped/bent lead, then the panel just says "NAH!" I have the I.D Core 150 V3, and I have the cables running down the back, not stuck straight up, they should have the plug extended to allow for ease of plugging.
After they put Bluetooth in it, it’s still probably gonna be around $250 US. I’ve paid more than that for some of my pedals. Still a bargain at that amount of money. Sturdy, lightweight, sounds good, has everything I need built-in, including the ability to record scratch tracks for song ideas, everything I need in a travel amp. The Boss equivalent is over $600. Sorry, no.

What about poor people????? I've been playing guitar for 30 years, but I don't have much money. I'm ill and can't work regularly. So I can't buy the expensive stuff. That's why it's NOT for beginners.
I had the ID:Core 20 in 2014 and enjoyed it for 3 years. The only reason I sold it was the Blackstar modeling software was glitching in Windows 10. Plus I wanted a small tube practice amp and picked up a mint used Blackstar HT-1R combo. But I wouldn’t mind another one of these to play with. The sound was good. My problem was spending too much time creating tones in the software and pursuing a holy grail tone that doesn’t exist LOL. This new v4 appeals to me since I’m just a home player as guitar is a hobby to me.
I hear the beginner vs advanced players etc. But to be honest, if I’d had this amp when starting out, I would have given up the idea of being a guitarist. It sounds so boxy. You can hear the plastic. I own the ID Core BEAM. It’s smaller, old tech from Blackstar, but sounds a hundred times better.
Yeah I had a few of these, loved them. Now I have the HT20, and HT1. Usually, the software opens up the amps true potential, over just the amp controls.
Up until now I played acoustic guitar only, now I plan on switching to electric one, I honestly think that this amp sounds pretty good, I mean I am just starting out on electric journey, as for plastic sound it is not that noticable, and I mean what else do you expect from amp w that price, I am glad I ordered W20 version of this and tbh hearing how it sounds here just makes me more excitied, also I think that you aren't a real musician if you rely on your gear for motivation and overall playing, it's probably just a you problem, I am honestly shocked for how good this actually sounds
@@Neiro_Kaiten you’re a real musician when you know how to use your ears. I am by no means a gear snob, and own two very different Blackstar amps. Trust me, this amp sounds utter garbage. As you have said, you are starting out. You will realise, in time, just how bad it is. You would be better off with a Line 6 Spider, and they’re not great.
I am not a fan ISF at all and other single knobs EQ. I prefer not to have to twiddle with software and creating presets. I am ye 'Ole school and prefer the knobs on the amplifier itself. The tuner is not much help and should have been left out. The tech improved from version 3 but the underlying problem persists. It's trying to be way too much to be all things. A jack of all things but not particularly a master of any of it. Not my cup of tea. I would take the Vox VT40x over this.
I must admit that I am not overly impressed. For 249€ (Thomann) I get 2 HB-40MFX for 2x40W / 10" stereo-setup instead of 2x5W / 3", also with effects (which I don't use because I want mine more finely tuned). What I don't get is software and the portability the V4 provides. I am, however, ready for small stages -- if they want more output, they can mike me up.
120 would have been a steal. But at 219 not so much anymore.

10W is $160 USD. 20W is $200 USD. 40W is $230 USD.

i think the engineers flubbed up putting in 2-6inch speakers instead of 2- 8 inch. 40 watts is a lot for 2 6inch (40watt version)

I guess they missed the boat price wise - Mooer Hornet 30w with bluetooth for 149,- EUR seems a much better deal. Or for a few bucks more a Katana 50.
