I’m sure this is a really weird request, but I would love to have a take and hold mode that is just the “take” without the “hold”. I imagine it would just have an increased number of patrols that spawn over time, as well as the typical room-defending sosigs. Defender/patrol difficulty should probably increase the more sosigs are killed. I’m not sure how supply rooms would work in this hypothetical, but I imagine they need to refresh, unless patrols drop tokens. Idk if anyone else agrees with me, but sometimes I just wanna play a little faster pace without the interruption of hold sequences. Exited for the new level! Great work so far!
kinda like the legacy take and hold where its more of just waves of enemies not so much anything else? or more of a "Clear this position of all hostiles, grab this thing and go"
Honestly, a "Take and *Run* " gamemode would be pretty sweet, especially if it emphasizes agility and stealth over digging in and making a standoff. Perhaps the time limits used for Holds could instead be the time limit you have to get to the next Take spot? "Timed gateway connected; data extracted. 3 override tokens found. Advance to the next timed gateway and take it. You have: 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Go."

I worry about the sensation of "getting screwed by RNG" with the new sosigs for players that don't get things like a desired AP ammunition roll or fail to roll something capable of hurting the heavy. Have you considered an armor fatigue system?
Yeah I have turned off encryptions honestly the regenerating and invisible incriptions on low tech characters are already a pain, I don't ahve that many revolvers on me. But at least he lets us tweak the difficulty, if there was only one TnH setting I don't think I would play it.
Anton, that super-heavy operator is terrifying... I hope they move slower than talk 'deeper' than the other sosigs, it would not only help pick 'em out in a crowd, but it would make them all the more intimidating if they 'feel' like the big guy. Especially fitting considering their boss status. =P Also, thoughts on the new regenerative encryption. I noticed the darker cubes making a cross on all faces, provided those go all the way to the core, why not make them regenerate slightly faster the darker the colour is? So you need to sustain fire on the core a little more.
Mentioning Calico made me think, if you stick with this iteration of the Orthogonal encryption for regular characters, an 8 hit variant could be a good addition for him and other low ammo economy characters to still have a boss.
The orthagonal encryption looks really cool! I think it would be interesting if it starts really fast but then gets slower sort of like the agile encryption. The new heavies are going to make explosives become a vital part of my runs on the new character!

If I don't see a take-and-hold map taking place inside a builder where these operator sosigs repel and break through the window to engage you. I'm going to be very disappointed.
I think making an option for “easy” versions of the new segment-heavy boss encryptions would help out with the calico and custom challenge crowd (unless the new regen and cascading encryptions are made trivial with shotguns, that changes things). Also, outright removing the old regen node will be a big bummer, it’s shooting drill nature was always fun to go against. I’d imagine it could be reworked to keep the back-and-forth feel without it being possible to have segments hide and to make it more intuitive.
The concept of hitting outside, then core, then outside, etc. areas is going to be recycled into a better implementation for one of the other encryptions.
Anton, I humbly accept these challenges you are presenting us in the upcoming updates. I have been practicing constantly in anticipation of the difficulty you are throwing down and I can’t wait to go against your Super Sosigs and Boss Encryptions.
Might I suggest you add a tutorial popup (or something less intrusive probably) when the heavy guys first appear? Players who don't watch this devlog would probably be a bit frustrated when their bullets do nothing against them.
i just finished the original modernwarfare 2 spec-ops with friends, and i'd adore an intimidating sound cue whenever the juggernaut-like sosigs spawn lol
I'm not in a space where I can set up my Vive again right now, but just from seeing that Cascading encryption... That seems like a nightmare with how many shots that takes lol. It also just seems to get a bit repetitive/grating with how long it takes. I can't test it out myself right now, but I think that one could benefit from less total shots. For that last one with the lasers, how about a middle ground of 2 targets per-segment? Each target could just be a half-triangle. I think 8 shots would potentially be too easy, but twice that amount sounds like a good sweet spot imo. Also, I love the new enemy designs. Though I think maybe having the number of NVG lights increase through the ranks would help a lot with readability, especially with how large some of these new rooms are getting. Could start with 2, then 3, then the current 4.

For the laser encryption, how about a compromise between 8 faces and 24 faces? You could make it so that each triangular face needs to be shot twice, maybe turning from red, to yellow, to gone. That'll bump up the shots/faces to 16, but not be as insane as 24 when surrounded by a few dozen sosigs and dodging lasers as well.
Oh Anton, you're teasing us with that ash 12.7 sosigun. Hope to maybe see that as a gun in game some day, but going based off the f2000 sosigun, I'm assuming it's not gonna make that leap
Anton really just added the High Table forces and Dozer sosigs with these new ones. I do like the new regenerative encryption. The cascade encryption is gonna stutter the hell out of my PC but I do like the idea behind the polymorphic encryption. I cant wait to see the new TP/Dash in action.
I like the idea of the heavy competitive enemy, feels like it'll make explosives actually really useful. Normally I just ignore my underbarrel launcher if I have one, its just too slow.
Do melee hits still do decent stun? I find that for a lot of sosigs that are over armored when im under ammoed, i can kinda just pistol whip them and instantly knock them down and then shoot through weak points. Are the new S.E.A.L.-sigs more resistant to that, or is that still a good option?
I immediately saw that final encryption and thought, wouldn't it be fun if it had handles on it that you could grab and manuver yourself around it whilst it slides around the room? One handing it with a pistol in the other hand or something close quarters like a pdw, bullets flying around from intruding sosigs, using the encryption itself as cover.
I feel like there should be a difference now for limited ammo and spawnlock for T/H with the new sosig types. Thought I know there are lower spawn rates in limited ammo, it would still be rough to have no real way to deal with heavy sosigs specifically when you have less than ideal kit. Though I know it's an edge case I feel it comes up often enough where it should be put in mind. Either way you go about it great work Anton, I love the new way of going around increasing challenge of T/H all around.

Huge props and many thanks for your continuous work on H3. it's take and hold w custom maps and characters is by far my favourite thing to play any day! I wish it was easier to make my own character with loadouts and gun drops like PMC pete and looting larry, best regarts
Anton! T.REX arms is open sourcing all of their 3D scan data for hundreds of handguns and lights. They manufacture holsters so the scans should be great for reference
really like the new Sosigs but you still should let them get a tiny ammount of damged if hit the plates. force does not disappere. it would be cool to able to damge them but just a tiny fraction of it
After seeing these night vision boys, i think we need a Bank score level, and they will come like "wululululULULULULULULULULU" If u die by him he will say: "You call this a barbeque sauce? I call dificulty salty"
These targets really require a hugh capacity to deal with, so for some characters like the Cowwiener they would be out right impossible. Maybe the orthogonal one with 8 hits could fit, but it would be fun to have a target that presents difficult shots, but doesn't require you hitting it with constant automatic fire to hope to defeat it. To take inspiration from the real world, maybe a spinning encryption, based on a pistol spinner?
The new incriptions are still more fair than the OG regen incription. God, that thing took an LMG MINIMUM. Can't wait for Godmode Gabagool, a T&H where you have to fight all the special boss incriptions with meme guns.

Personally I would rather incendiary rounds always light on fire but tune the damage, penetration, or damage over time down to balance it. This way it will be more skill based rather than a dice roll that punishes slow weapons like bolt guns or other guns with small mags.
That cascading one is far and away harder than the new regenerative, which may just be too easy now. An idea I just got for the classic one is maybe simple color coding. When it's growing, it's green, but when you shoot it and it stops, it's red. Maybe not quite like that but something similar to communicate that visually.
I only like that last one. That is a cool challenge. I also think it's hit amount is just right. I bet a shotgun would be preferred to take it out. The only issue it dealing with sosigs raining hell on you while you battle.
I do like the idea of hard targets that might require the use of some of the more fun and dangerous toys. Explosives are fun, and so are anti-mat rifles, but currently they're more a self-damage liability than they are a useful tool, and high-power rifles mostly just serve to let me have fun in the sniper range.
I like the new regenerative encryption but I'm wondering if this risks "dead ending" a run if you don't manage to get a high capacity rifle by the last hold. Prior to this, I think there was a wide variety of weapons you could complete a standard 5-run with and I've even bulled it off with a revolver, but this seems to punish people who aren't gunning for assault rifles and battle rifles a little.. Maybe its a premature assessment
I feel like balancing an enemy entirely around counting on the player not only getting a powerful weapon but also knowing the different super detailed and esoteric attributes of different bullet types, not to mention actually finding and stocking up on them; is a questionable idea. The heaviest sosigs should most definitely have parts with no armor whatsoever, namely, the neck area under the armored collar or the NVGs themselves as I doubt they make those very resistant. Headshots should stun them (without throwing them onto the ground) so kinda like [minor spoilers] the end of John Wick 3, you could stun one of them by shooting them a bunch and then jam your gun under their armor to get an instant kill.
The enemies are for the Tournament/Competitive character. They assume the highest level of experience and practice with the game, including ammo types, managing them well, etc. They are meant to be the most extreme challenge for the mode, and are designed from watching years of the competitive scene (First2Wurst) play.
It would be cool if you added a super heavy sosig that is completely invulnerable to all calibres except large ones like 308 lapua or 50 cal but all other small calibres. I was thinking the only way to down him would be large calibre weapons or frags and other types of anti _____ gernades. Not a needed thing but I thought it would be cool
I mean yeah but the indoor map it would be difficult. its already hard enough to use explosives most of the time, but in a small room its damn near a death sentence with one minor mistake using a grenade or rocket launcher. It would be RNG heavy. as if you dont get a heavy weapon your SOL
anton, maybe as a high risk high reward thing, considering that the orthagonal is a boss encryption and players will already be pretty kitted out, what if the player could shoot it in a specific spot, maybe where the lasers come from, with a high caliber round like the .50 bmg, and take it out with one shot?
OOOOO the new encryption make me really happy! Ngl, ive been playing with simple encryption for a long time now. I had a really bad experience with regenerative encryption where i had an amazing run end because i didnt understand how regenerative worked and was frustrated by it. I had the Merica mini-gun and even that couldn't kill the encryption before it regenerated because i didn't know i had to attack the center. Glad to see it change and I look forward to giving complex encryption another shot!

i shot the heavy helmet with a 50. cal FMJ and it didn't penetrate and that body armor is 100% level 4

I love the idea of a mini "boss" that you cant just gun down without a second thought and requires precision and strategy.

Limited Ammo mode already greatly suppresses the number of sosigs that spawn.

Hey Anton, I just want to drop some appreciation for you. Huge props and many thanks for your continuous work on H3. it's take and hold w custom maps and characters is by far my favourite thing to play any day! I wish it was easier to make my own character with loadouts and gun drops like PMC pete and looting larry, best regarts

Anton! T.REX arms is open sourcing all of their 3D scan data for hundreds of handguns and lights. They manufacture holsters so the scans should be great for reference
really like the new Sosigs but you still should let them get a tiny ammount of damged if hit the plates. force does not disappere. it would be cool to able to damge them but just a tiny fraction of it
The sosigs look cool, but I'd argue that they shouldn't have 'leg' armour. Modern military armour primarily protects the chest/stomach area at most.
Oh god, the Heavy Operator looks like a cross between a Dozer and a Cloaker... I HATE IT

The polymorphic encryption looks too small, ramping up difficulty too much for same reason as the agile one. Especially without physical gun stock.

These targets really require a hugh capacity to deal with, so for some characters like the Cowwiener they would be out right impossible. Maybe the orthogonal one with 8 hits could fit, but it would be fun to have a target that presents difficult shots, but doesn't require you hitting it with constant automatic fire to hope to defeat it. To take inspiration from the real world, maybe a spinning encryption, based on a pistol spinner?
Not every encryption will show up for every character. They all have unique (and appropriate) progressions.
The new incriptions are still more fair than the OG regen incription. God, that thing took an LMG MINIMUM.
Can't wait for Godmode Gabagool, a T&H where you have to fight all the special boss incriptions with meme guns.

Personally I would rather incendiary rounds always light on fire but tune the damage, penetration, or damage over time down to balance it. This way it will be more skill based rather than a dice roll that punishes slow weapons like bolt guns or other guns with small mags.
That cascading one is far and away harder than the new regenerative, which may just be too easy now.
An idea I just got for the classic one is maybe simple color coding. When it's growing, it's green, but when you shoot it and it stops, it's red. Maybe not quite like that but something similar to communicate that visually.

I only like that last one. That is a cool challenge. I also think it's hit amount is just right. I bet a shotgun would be preferred to take it out. The only issue it dealing with sosigs raining hell on you while you battle.

I do like the idea of hard targets that might require the use of some of the more fun and dangerous toys. Explosives are fun, and so are anti-mat rifles, but currently they're more a self-damage liability than they are a useful tool, and high-power rifles mostly just serve to let me have fun in the sniper range.

I like the new regenerative encryption but I'm wondering if this risks "dead ending" a run if you don't manage to get a high capacity rifle by the last hold. Prior to this, I think there was a wide variety of weapons you could complete a standard 5-run with and I've even bulled it off with a revolver, but this seems to punish people who aren't gunning for assault rifles and battle rifles a little.. Maybe its a premature assessment
SMGs can do it. Mag shotguns can do it. I'm fairly certain even a high cap semi auto pistol with API could do it.

I feel like balancing an enemy entirely around counting on the player not only getting a powerful weapon but also knowing the different super detailed and esoteric attributes of different bullet types, not to mention actually finding and stocking up on them; is a questionable idea.
The heaviest sosigs should most definitely have parts with no armor whatsoever, namely, the neck area under the armored collar or the NVGs themselves as I doubt they make those very resistant.
Headshots should stun them (without throwing them onto the ground) so kinda like [minor spoilers] the end of John Wick 3, you could stun one of them by shooting them a bunch and then jam your gun under their armor to get an instant kill.
The enemies are for the Tournament/Competitive character. They assume the highest level of experience and practice with the game, including ammo types, managing them well, etc. They are meant to be the most extreme challenge for the mode, and are designed from watching years of the competitive scene (First2Wurst) play.

It would be cool if you added a super heavy sosig that is completely invulnerable to all calibres except large ones like 308 lapua or 50 cal but all other small calibres. I was thinking the only way to down him would be large calibre weapons or frags and other types of anti _____ gernades. Not a needed thing but I thought it would be cool
I mean yeah but the indoor map it would be difficult. its already hard enough to use explosives most of the time, but in a small room its damn near a death sentence with one minor mistake using a grenade or rocket launcher. It would be RNG heavy. as if you dont get a heavy weapon your SOL

anton, maybe as a high risk high reward thing, considering that the orthagonal is a boss encryption and players will already be pretty kitted out, what if the player could shoot it in a specific spot, maybe where the lasers come from, with a high caliber round like the .50 bmg, and take it out with one shot?
OOOOO the new encryption make me really happy! Ngl, ive been playing with simple encryption for a long time now. I had a really bad experience with regenerative encryption where i had an amazing run end because i didnt understand how regenerative worked and was frustrated by it. I had the Merica mini-gun and even that couldn't kill the encryption before it regenerated because i didn't know i had to attack the center. Glad to see it change and I look forward to giving complex encryption another shot!
