Very satisfying, vibes similar to the scene where that guys restores Woody in Toy Story 2
Yes!! The very natural ASMR, like Bob Ross too
True
I cannot believe how well these turned out especially with how they started. What really impressed me is that you finally got a Doc Marten video sponsored. 👍
The skin care routine of these boots is probably better than mine😂
Found your channel this morning at 3am. It's noon. Haven't stopped watching yet. Thanks for the great content.
I hope you've slept in between
The small brushes people use to clean reusable straws work fantastically well for getting inside eyelets. ;)
That called a pipe brush
I would dye before the leather conditioner. Allows the dye to get further into the leather.
I recommend the same. Conditioners contain oils will will resist dye from absorbing properly and can make the color hazy and splotchy. It makes more passes necessary for color fast. I typically apply two coats of Fiebings directly after the fine sanding so the color goes deeper and richer. After it dries, then I begin conditioning to regain something similar to the original luster.
I kept wondering why he didn't do that step before the Renovateur, just an oversight? Of was he trying to create the original look where it would patina brown overtime?
i think they cream will do the same thing.
Doesn’t it make it uneven tho?
I saw someone do that as well. Still like the tutorial tho. It’s giving ideas
Have you thought about doing a review (cut in half) giving your thoughts and opinions on what you consider to be what are the best current modern tactical boots are?
Would love to see an episode or two based on those specific boot types.
& Thank you for your knowledgeable input on all of your other video reviews.
Always looking forward to your next!
So, 2ish years ago I bought a pair of slip resistant Docs for work and I’m just now learning how to take care of them. The upper on one boot has flaked and cracked where the toe bends, so I’m hoping to repair them as best I can. These videos are great! Thank you!
Invariably, when watching such videos, I find myself mesmerized, staring at the screen with my mouth open. It's magic!
Tip for the yellow stitching: use a yellow coloring pencil and go over each stitch. Revives the trademark thread! 😃
That's a horrible idea.
That would have zero staying power.
@@matthias8122 Take it or leave it, I've been doing it for 15yrs, its just a refresh, I do it everytime I take care of my docs.
@@alissonvonderlane862 Curious..
Does that also depend on what brand & type of coloring pen/pencil your using?
Example, Stylo, Sharpie, Marksalot?
To clean the yellow stitching use a toothbrush and washing up liquid in the same manner you would use a toothbrush with toothpaste. Once you have worked up a good soapy layer leave it for about 10 minutes then rinse off under a running tap.
I was cringing when you were painting the dye on around the contrast stitching, i would have used blue painters tape to mask off the thread first. But you are the pro, and I would never attempt a sanding job to begin with. lol.
I'm getting so many ideas for changing color on a pair of old boots! Your channel is amazing!!! I would love to see what a pair of Corcoran 1500 are all about. I've been wearing them for a decade as a fashion boot, because they're truly amazing once broken in, but sure are made for real war action and it would be nice to see what's inside of them. After all, those are the real deal when you compare them to these Docs.
Super filming! Your channel has gotten better and better. I appreciate the effort. Thanks
Loved the explanations durring the restoration, super helpful!
Wow! This was a beautifully made video! Really enjoyed it.
Wow amazing shoe renovation video was so satisfying to watch 🙏🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 need to make more of these stuff 🙌
Great video! I don't have a need for it, but it reminded me of my JROTC days and polishing my shoes.
Awesome video! I really like your work. I've purchased the same brand of leather dye and it works great
Absolutely amazing! what a video to start my boot journey. Helped my mind rest thinking it can be restored back
From the usual cracks and splits that appear within months, nope!
This video is so fantastic. I have a pair of docs with really soft leather so they're a little more high maintenance. I got them when I was in middle school and didn't know how to take care of them. I found my grandpa's old boot cleaning kit and learned how and now I clean them routinely. It always makes me sad to see people with worn-down leather shoes knowing that it's not that difficult to take care of them, alot of people just don't know how.
Really quite sad. I see people at my job who complain about their leather boots cracking and whatnot. The newer generation has become so used to sneakers and other shoes that require zero care and maintenance it would seem.
whats a good conditioner/cleaner you use?
@@mirkwoodphotography2089 whats a good conditioner/cleaner you use?
Very helpful man! Thanks. Keep up the great work.👍
Amazing job!
hey weston, great video as always! Small suggestion: maybe leave on the product information and instruction per step a bit longer on screen so we can have more time to read through them? Personal opinion of course. All the best!
If only there was a button that could pause the video 🤔🤔🤔🤔
If you are watching with your phone or tablet just take a screenshot!
Everything’s is listed and linked in the caption.
I love the look of my more beat up docs, it adds character to the boot :)
So a good brush and brushing takes away the shine. ✔✔ Those look real good
That's real craftsmanship 👍🏻

This was very satisfying 🤩.
Nice video, thanks!
I learnt from this video, thanks for it.
Incredible. Thanks!
You made a believer out of me! Great job!
Nice work!
Well done Nick, I taught you well.
Great resto job 👌🏻😎
Just did similar restoration to my 90s Doc Martens .. Saphir products are awesome .. I also used BlackRock leather enrich ..
Amazing! If you saw these at first glance you would have thought they were brand new.
I also id a pair of dr martens they turned out well as yours did but always use shoe trees when you start that way the shoe ,boot, or what ever you are working on the leather is fully stretched but what a good job
Love your channel!! Daily reviewer of your content. My buddy got some new under armor Valset micro G boots and nobody has a cut in half video. Obviously you’re the king, any plans on cutting this boot in half? I know it’s a tactical boot and not usually what you do… thanks so much!!
No matter the extent of appreciation an american heritage boot gets, the look of black docs 1460 is unique and has a vintage charm of its own.
Nice work. Need to clean the yellow stitching...
Great video
you have to make these longer please!
Nice job
Brings back some really old memories
Thank you
Just saying
this is passion
I could watch this for days
You can clean the yellow tread with dishwashing soap so it could remove the oil and dirt imbedded in it, it also makes it more yellow
That’s amazing
Quedaron de lujo, sobre todo el detalle del costado de la suela, saludos 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Well done!!!!
All I can say is WOW!!!!
I don't believe new Dr can be worn out to this level
New ones have the plastic coating which cracks at the toe crease after like a year. So they can’t really wear since it’s plastic in the outside.
You can get a pair of MIE docs that have this leather (brown under the black coating
@@fgiannini 1461 MIE cracked after a year too...
@@dariuspri unfortunately they are overrated
@@solomonkane5240 and overpriced, I'd add
im starting my shoe repair and cleaning business.. its been so helpfuull this one!!! do more xD subcribed now
Hey, love this video!! Any advice on filling in a hole in the leather of some DM’s? It was made my a thorn so is only a couple of mm round - but wanna fix it to avoid further damage being caused :)
Please a do a woobies shoe video, shoe business owned by a veteran who wanted to make a good sturdy shoe. They are thicc canvas with leather toecap.
i have a pair and love them.
I love your ASMR shoe videos
I keep hearing you shouldn't use something like coconut oil to condition leather but adding something like tocopherol (vitamin e) to virgin coconut oil will apparently stabilize it for 5+ years. Since it doesn't go rancid would this work? I can't find anyone who has tested it long term. Just an idea for a future video! 😊
Great video! God bless!
I'd love if you did a teartown of some Loakes, I've got some 1880 range chatsworth suede chelsea boots which I love and I'm planning on getting some of their white leather sneakers.
Dr Martens is one of my favorite brands.
Would love to see your take on or deconstruction of the red wing dynaforce 4215
I do the bottom of my shoes and boots first then I do the top and rest of the shoes. Nice restore.
Wow! I've never seen the uppers of a pair of boots so worn without wearing the sole down more
the sole looks so new i wonder if he just destroyed the boots on purpose for this video
Yeah, kinda fishy.
@@AverageReviewsYT yea no one likes them… only one of the most popular boot brands across the world
Or how he got any of that treatment to penetrate the plastic coating.
@@AverageReviewsYTdumb comment.
Great work try using a cloth on top of the shoe and ironing to get rid of the stretch marks
Impressive!
it's messmerising to look at this process 🙂 what can you recommend to cover a small burned patch of leather on docs?
Love ur videos along of info. Much appreciated. I have a quick question. The beat you used in this video. Where's it from? It's driving me crazy. I know I heard it before. Thx
I would like to make a request if possible. Been watching for a while. I’d like to see the keen Cincinnati boots cut. Just bought a pair and really like them had for about 2 months. But would like to see how they stack up to some of the other moc toes you’ve done
Nice!
You’re great!
Using so many Saphir products on Docs leather is a bit overkill to me. But thanks for the tips and asmr.
Suggestion on a series shootout: Dress shoes. I've recently switched careers up and have had to trade my boots for dress shoes. I've bought a low-mid level pair of Dockers for the time being before I find the right pair to invest over $100 into. I'd love to see and would be curious on your breakdown on various 'top' leather dress shoes.
The best intro music.
No clean of yellow stitching?
Any plan to cut open the Wolverine blvd boots? Love to see a comparison to Thursdays.
I have to say that I am wondering how the leather of the docs got worn down before the soles were used up. Am I right in that they might have been specially prepared for this restoration as opposed to worn? The soles looked like they had a bit of wear on them, but not as much as the leather parts. And the stitching of course...
I'm pretty certain they sanded the leather, it doesn't resemble real wear.
They fabricated it so they can sell the care product?
How does that change anything about the video. He still repaired the boots, whether they were naturally damaged or sanded.
@@redrighthand9571 I was just idly musing about how other parts of the Docs crapped out than what I would expect. Didn't say that anything changed for me...
The wear is likely artificial, but it is possible that they were resoled before this
I'd love to see you review some higher end "fashion" boot brands like AS98, Eric Michaels, or Taos, or even some high end cowboy boots. I have had some Taos Crave shoes for 7 years and put thousands of miles in them and only recently had to replace the insoles. They're still great! They may have lost their faded conditioning on the toes and heel but they still make for a great shoe. Some AS98 boots come with steel in the heel of the boot and I'm curious what that does functionally.
Could you please explain whether applying the conditioner and other rennovating creams prior to dyeing leather has any effect on the dye quality and its ability to adhere to leather?
Wow what a difference
Can you review the Dr martens combs II. The leather and nylon ones. Not the polyester or full canvas.
@Rose Anvil, what brand /shade of yellow dye would you suggest I use if I wanted to color Grey Solovair Stitches yellow with a fine tip brush?
Thank you!
I just resorted my vintage Dr Martens .. I was able to heat and remove a dent :. Then BlackRock condolitioner and Saphir black crème and wax
参考になった。ありがとう。
NIIIIIIICE 🔥🔥🔥
Cool!
닦는 소리 너무 좋아요👍👍🤎🤎🤎🤎
Could you do a review of Origon boots?
If you stuff them as tight as possible and lightly hit em with a heat gun you can get the creases out too
Damn good 😍
those look great after the restore. The one thing I noticed though is it seems like a lot of the stitching on the heel and ankle was broken, so while they do look great now they are eventually going to need to be restitched because I don't see that heel/ankle lasting very long before the stitches start popping out. It's probably going to be more cost efficient to just get a new pair at that point.
You should cut in half some sb dunks to see why there so good for skating and how they compare to the Jordan 1s
Hey Anvil an you check out Timberland SkapePark white sneakers? I dont hear / cant find any info on this shoes but it looks ok
Can I please ask if I can use all these products to restore my 80's adidas leather track suit(leather jacket & track pants)?
Hi, I have a question. I have this pair of old boots and the leathers are cracked, so I need an opinion....should I use a leathr filler and sanding it or just sanding the leather then dye it?
I have a pair of vintage docs from the 90s. They have some verdigris buildup around some of the eyelets. Any tips for removal without impacting leather?
Never had docs where the sole wasnt done way before the leather. And I have wore very many pairs of 1641s.
Cool, although unless you're using DM's to kick rocks around or sandpaper or similar it's unlikely the tops will ever get that bad before the soles literally wear through to your socks so this process isn't generally gonna be necessary. However, are any of these products any good at preventing the cracking that happens where the toe box meets the first set of eyelets? Kinda where the crease is where the boots bend as you walk. That's a real problem. The DM's 'wonder balsam' is hopeless and so is standard boot polish, maybe some of the products shown here might work better.
Just curious but am looking for a new pair of work boots kinda new to the whole thing I used some sketchers (steel toe) and they fell apart after about 3-4 months..
looking for something kinda light if possible but needs to be a steel toe, any information would be greatly appreciated thank you
I thrifted some gloss soft pink dr martens for my daughter but i want to restore the gloss, is it the same process? Please your advice, thnk you in advance🤗
