Diez años ya desde que escuché esta obra aquí, y hoy, como ayer, como mañana, y sé que como siempre, me hanvuelto a brotar las lágrimas... música, música, música... ¡por siempre la música!
Si Boccherini ya me dejó con la boca abierta esto ya es el tiro de gracia.

Se toca retirada nocturna en las ciudades donde hay cuarteles, para que las tropas se vayan al cuartel y cerrar las puertas. Costumbre de nuestros ejércitos y recogida en las RROO militares de Carlos III. Floreo del toque de retreta de Luigi Boccherini para su alteza el infante don Luis, hermano de Carlos.

first heard this at BBC Proms 1995. It was spine chilling then and 17 years later hearing again still spine chilling. Can listen over and over. Great performance.
It was played at the Last Night, wasn't it. Can't believe that OVER a quarter of a century has flown by since then.
It was a beautifull night in Antwerp with the concert of the Flemisch Philharmonic, where i heard this piece of music for the first time in my life.
The love of my life was sitting next to me, I could touch her when I needed it. It was perfect. i'll gonna never forget that night!

Previously, I had only known of Boccherini by his famous minuet. I first heard this piece about fifteen years ago, on the radio as I was driving home from work. I was so caught up in it that I had to pull over, for fear of causing an accident. I had the pleasure of seeing Jesus Lopez Cobos conducting when he was principal conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra: he was, simply put, wonderful.

Para mí esta versión es la mejor de las que he oído. Creo que la diferencia con otras versiones es, como ya se ha apuntado, que López Cobos hace que entren, saluden, en primer lugar las dos cajas, a partir de aquí son estas las que van marcando el ritmo, que es justamente el apropiado, y se va produciendo un crescendo...Sin duda espectacular, no sé si perfecta

La ORTVE no es que sea precisamente la mejor orquesta sinfónica de España, pero el maestro López Cobos saca oro de ella. De todas las interpretaciones que he escuchado, ésta es la que más me gusta sin duda (no diré que la mejor, aunque me siento tentado). El tambor hace una interpretación simplemente perfecta en cuanto a ritmo y cadencia. Muchas gracias por compartirlo.
Muchas gracias Javier, pero te tengo que aclarar que esta no es la ORTVE; esto es una asociación de ayuda humanitaria que se llama Voces para la Paz (Músicos Solidarios) que está formada por músicos de varias orquestas, ORTVE, ONE, Sinfónica, Comunidad de Madrid, etc. y que nos juntamos en un fin de semana para ofrecer un concierto para recaudar fondos para hacer proyectos de ayuda humanitaria. Ik heb net het boek van Jeroen Brouwers ‘datumloze dagen’ gelezen waar herhaaldelijk over de Ritirata de Madrid werd gesproken. Ik dacht eerst dat dit een fictief muziekstuk was maar bij opzoekingen op UA-cam blijkt dit inderdaad te bestaan en is volgens mij inderdaad een héél mooie uitvoering. Met dank aan Peter en Nathan
La obra es una orquestación del último movimiento del quinteto para guitarra y cuerda nº 9 g 453 de Boccherini.
Fue un encargo que se le hizo a Luciano Berio por la Scala de Milán.
La ritirata (retreta en español) era la melodía que se usaba para que los soldados se rerirasen a su cuarteles o para retirarse en una batalla. Y los instituyó el rey Carlos III.
Los toques militares durante el siglo XVII, XVIII y parte del XIX se interpretaban con tambor y pífano, tradición que mantiene el cuerpo de alabarderos y el regimiento inmerioral del Rey.
La orquesta que interpreta la obra es una agrupación temporal formada por músicos de las principales orquestas de Madrid: Orquesta Nacional de España, Sinfónica de Madrid, Sinfónica de radiotelevisión española, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Banda sinfónica de Madrid y cantantes de los coros de la Orquesta Nacional ,de la Orquesta de radiotelevisión y del Teatro Real. y que se reunen para fines solidarios (Voces para la paz). El concierto se celebró en Teatro Monumental de Madrid el 8 de mayo de 2005.

Das ist eine der besten Ausführungen dieses Musikstücks. Viele Details sind von den Solisten mit sehr viel Gefühl gespielt worden. Die Übergänge sind sehr weich verbunden. Es ist eine meisterliche Komposition von Boccherini. Der Dirigent hat dieses Orchester sehr gut arrangiert. Bravissimo! 🙏

When the applause begins, the conductor asks the snare drum players to stand up & take a bow first. How often do you see that in a classical music performance!
Some years ago, in a concert at S. Cecilia auditorium in Rome (Romeo and Juliet Symphony by Berlioz) Lorin Maazel called only ONE player to stand up for the applause - the triangle guy.

I was brought up on rock & roll ... loved hendrix, dylan, got into reggae and so much more. Since seeing this some time ago I am playing this stuff and laughing at the anguished faces of people that can't appreciate music outside of their own little box.
Dammit I love this just as I love Eddy Grant, Deep Purple and all the others. Music is music, the only thing that makes bad music is lack of talent and there is plenty of it here.

The Boccherini work was originally a string quintet (Opus 30 #6). Boccherini made several versions of the the last movement including a quintet with guitar and a quintet with piano. Berio's composition is a kind of superimposition of the different versions on top of each other. This gives a subtle complexity to what is essentially a simple (yet delightful) work. See Jonathan D. Słuchałem różne wykonanie tego utworu, to mi sie również podoba, te ciche werble(?) fajnie współbrzmią z resztą orkiestryh.
