Now yes, but at the time period he was talking about in this clip, McMahon wanted to wipe the name Hart from the WWE. All Bret wanted was to make sure the footage of his matches wasn't lost to the oblivion. At THAT time, he feared that would happen. If people would really LISTEN to Bret's words, and understand.... Bret would not be so misunderstood.

Bret's speech at his hof induction was so good. Such a great story teller in and out of the ring.
People always misunderstand Bret. You would be bitter too if the company you sacrificed your life for, broke their contract and threw you out like a bag of garbage, and humiliated you in the process.

Oh boo hoo. WWF flourished after he left. Shawn too. It gave more talented and more popular wrestlers a chance to be in the spotlight. But at least Shawn came back and had a great 2nd run. Bret just had strokes.
@@TeddyKGB12 Yeah because Goldfake, a horrible wrestler, kicked him in the head. WWF lost their best technical wrestler, because the boss cheated him. Shawn never carried the company, he lost his smile and ran home to mommy. While Bret healed his paralyzed body.

I noticed that these are older clips that we have seen.
Bret The Hitman Hart is one of the best wrestlers of his era. His matches were flawless and so believable! But I will day the HOF is a joke for the fact of people who have made it in and then others who haven't. Its based on whatever Vince McMahon wants or who he wants in the HOF! There is no physical building or HOF to remember those who earned the induction. I used to be a huge WWE fan back in the 80s and 90s but it's just not entertainment or wrestlikg for quite a long time.

That Owen bluray was eventually clearanced for $10 at Best Buy in 2016, after Martha's protest.
Bret had good reason not to want a DVD with the title "Screwed" in his name. He sacrificed so much, including his own health and eventually his career, the latter of course unintentionally. He deserved much more than what was being suggested as peanut sized offerings to him. I've said many times and I'll say it again: To me, the name Bret Hart is synonymous with the word legend.

Honestly, The Screwjob was probably the best way for Bret that he could've left WWF. He didn't actually lose or do a job to Shawn Michaels and got all sorts of media hype for the controversy in how they took the belt off him. It was literally the best send off he ever could've had.
Yeah, accept he went to a company ran by complete dipshits.

Bret got along with Hogan in WCW but I think the “Screwed” interviews are what solidified his disdain for Hogan. Hogan buried Bret , saying he wasn’t one of the boys. That’s why Bret refused to shake Hogans hand at the hall of fame and why Hogan looked pissed

Technically Hogan was right. Vanilla midgets like Bret Hart, Shawn Michael, Benoit and Eddie Guerrero flopped as WWE champions.

Vince played him perfectly with that DVD set
Bret vs Owen Summerslam 94, one of the best matches ever. May have been the absolute best if the right guy won. Owen was so much better.
He needs to realize how legendary he is & stop being so bitter. He wasted so many years being upset. It made sense in the beginning but he could be really living to the fullest without even competing. I’m sure that’s what he wants to do though deep down.

I'm a Canadian... I'm a Bret hart mark.... this is the first time I've been upset about his comments about him being angry at Martha's lawyers
He bent over backwards to help Martha do everything he could to help her get evidence and statements at WWF...all he wanted was for her to include his body of work. She basically spit on him. Owen was the only sibling of Bret's who wasn't jealous of Bret's success. Owen and Bret were extremely close.

According to Owens widow after Owen died the entire Hart family ignored her including Brett and they acted as if her and the kids didn't exist, she said that it was her and her alone that went after WWE and nobody in the entire family would even answer her phone calls

This totally fits with that guy's M.O. In 2006, in their eyes, Bret's a washed-up, retired, stroke-fragile loser who they kicked and attempted to ruin on the way out, then were found grossly criminally negligent in the death of his beloved brother. He's nothing to them at this point. But of course, if there's money to be made... right Vince? So he calls him up. "Hey Hitman! Yuk-yuk, got a proposal for you... it was all a WORK see?" Their way of getting his endorsement on their spin. And Bret of course wouldn't whore himself out for a percentage. And with regards to his HoF speech, if you go watch it he pulled it off marvelously, considering he says he was in such a fragile state. It's very from the heart, classy, funny and extensive.

Sounds like Vince didn't really plan on releasing a DVD called "screwed" but was simply using it as a tactic to get Bret to open up and do it his way - simple reverse psychology.

The original Screwed DVD never happened. Another DVD was made though that painted Bret in a more positive manner. That might be the DVD you own, but no, Screwed was never made, nor was it ever released. Interviews were shot for it, but they are considered to be lost media that will likely never see the light of day.
