The Winged Eagle was such a classy belt. I associate that belt with Bret specifically, the same way I associate the circular WWF title design with The Rock and the oval shaped WWE title they had before the John Cena gimmick belt with Eddie Guerrero.
100% agree on the WWE belts today. They look like toys, and I know that's the point so they can sell them to kids, but I promise people will buy belts even if they don't have a giant W on them.
What a sweet and innocent anecdote about baby Owen. I don't think I even read that in his memoir. A golden haired blonde baby in a family of 11 older siblings would definitely be extremely noteworthy. Something about this clip tells me that if much later on people have respect for you and genuinely think that you're a decent man they'll sit around and graciously listen to anecdotes about your life. I read Bret's complete autobiography and listen to every Owen story for this exact reason. When I was just a foolish teen in the madness of the Attitude Era he was "unnoteworthy" to me. But with age comes wisdom. And one sees that some of the "lesser names" of the time were actually much greater men.
What happened to Owen was a tragedy. And I think that asking wrestlers to do stupid stunts like that is asking for a disaster. Gotta wonder, if Brett had still been in WWF when Vince suggested this stunt would he have let his brother do it? I think Brett had enough pull in the company to get it canceled.
Hey Bret, do you remember when you and Owen came to Kelowna bc? Any chance you or someone you know have video of when you and Owen and others came to Kelowna to fight many, many, years ago? I was a girl back then, and who didn't know any better, who ran up to the ropes wanting to untangle you. I almost got kicked out of the Arena! Also, after the fights were over, I and my best friend came to the dressing room area and got yours and Owens autographs, but unfortunately someone stole my photo of you 2 back in the mid 80's. I still haven't gotten over that theft! I had been saving it bcuz I wanted to give it to my Son that I had in 1986, who btw, grew up to absolutely LOVE wrestling and loved watching both Owen and You thru your careers. We both record you whenever the WWE Most Wanted Treasures, the WWE Legends and the WWE Rivals comes on and/or any other WWE/WWF show that includes you. Anyway, it's wonderful to hear your proud stories and how you still talk with love about your brother Owen. I'm sure he's up there laughing at a few of your stories...😂 I think we, who loved watching the 2 of you, and along with the rest of the Wrestling world, miss Owen almost as much as you do, bcuz of course, we know you miss him the most since he is your Brother! The more I hear about Owen from other sources the more I am not liking him. Sounds like he was stiff and unsafe in the ring. I have heard this from more than one source. Now obviously what happened to Owen was a tragedy that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. But I do think he wasn’t the wrestler his brother was.
What was bitter about that one? I’ll admit he’s pretty bitter about alot of things but here he just talked about his brother Owen and idiots letting his expensive gear get stolen. Anybody would be pissed about that one if you’re in his shoes.
