This is golden, a real artisanal work 😃Thank you so much for sharing all the technical details for the N64 community 😃👍Truly appreciate it! Keep the awesome tutorials up there 🙌
Awesome video! You remembered me how the N64 launched, I remembered playing it the first time at blockbuster. Mario 64 was such a solid game, then ocarina of time was one of the best game ever. The controller turned out great, good tips for the stick butter must do a good difference, love the button but I wonder if two seringe would do a better cut between the two colors. 😊 Keep up the good work!
It really was a great launch and I remembered it pretty vividly when putting the video together! I agree on the two syringes. I am going to try that next time. I need to get myself some more of them for sure!
Awesome controller! The color is amazing! I like the 2 tone buttons but I think they're overshadowed by the paint on the controller... I would like to see more of those on another controller with brighter colors to see them shine! Great video and keep up the good work!
I really appreciate that! They turned out great, I was pretty happy with them. I would like to do them again for sure and maybe make a couple small tweaks.
Josh much appreciated! I couldnt agree more, I was getting clips for the video and ended up playing for over an hour. It's such a good game to this day!
It figures you guys would make the N64 controller look awesome 👌. Joystick butter huh? I've had to repare some of my N64 joysticks and that would have come in handy to lube up the bowl. I'll need to pick some of that stuff up. Great video my friend.
I really enjoy watching you work. I've done some mods in the past and I have a few projects that I'm currently working on. Thank you for the big boost in inspiration, I really needed this. can't wait to see what you do this year.
@@lukedavis_mp that tends to be hard to find as most folks who do these do not end up wanting to sell the molds. The molds tend to be the most difficult part. I have considered it, but to make it worthwhile its very hard to justify. Molds would have to be in excess of $50 each and most wouldn't be willing to pay that.
The video was dope. Thanks for sharing the process. You casting buttons got me thinking though. Can you cast whole controller shells easily? Two tone a shell without having to paint it? Anyway. Thanks for the vid again. Looking forward to the next project!
Thank you! I would love to attempt it and TBH I likely will. I have some new equipment I'm working on to make my casts turn out even better and if all goes to plan... I will likely give controller shells a shot!
have you ever considered trying to cast new parts for the stick mechanism out of resin? specifically the bowl wears out so if you can make more you'll have a good stick forever
So, full disclosure, no I have not, but now that you mention it... I would likely say why not go one step further and cast it out of metal... I bet that would have supreme wear resistance... Fantastic idea, thank you very much for sharing!!
Oh man, the filthiness of N64 joysticks STILL haunt me to this day! Also, maybe I've been watching too much Gaming Off the Grid, but when you mentioned cleaning with IPA my mind went elsewhere. lol
@@RockerGaming I agree! Those Joysticks on the N64 Controller can get really loose overtime and Easily Obliterated if you're playing Mario Party. Maybe someday we can create an N64 Joystick that's Indestructible no matter what you do with it
Did you remove the rubber insulation to paracord the controller? I plan to paracord mine but I don't like how it feels when you can feel the thin wires inside the paracord, I feel that it is going to break any time lol. Great video.
I appreciate that! Eventually I will get to it. My focus right now continues to be Gamecube, N64, Saturn, and Dreamcast. I didnt mod many PS2's back in the day, but I would really like to do some controller mods!
Dude, much appreciated! I dont think there is one out there for the way I do it. I know the video you're referring to, but I use a slightly different method. I use metal shims instead of the credit card shims and I use heat (225* F) to pull it apart. I tried using the method in that video with no success. Maybe it's easier if I make a video on it? Let me know what you think. I feel like the way I do it is pretty easy.
@@RockerGaming I've been able to do it with metal shims but not with heat... i thought you said in your video that you watched another guy do it.. I've never seen it done before.
Ah good call! I had been chatting with lovebot about it on discord a while back. Here is a link to Lovebots twitch video where he did it. clips.twitch.tv/TiredInterestingArtichokeRitzMitz
Please do a tutorial video for removing the plug. I want to paracord mine but cant figure out how to get the plug off and all I find online is a method that could easily break it.
Yes I have. They work ok. For many games it's just fine (i.e. starfox), but for others it seems a bit off (i.e. smash bros). My current recommendation would be to refurbish as I show here as opposed to replace. I do intend try a few others over time, but for now this is what I recommend.
Elijah, sorry for the confusion there. See the pinned comment. "The xmas video is courtesy of raw64life - Nintendo Sixty-FOOOOOOOOOOUR - ua-cam.com/video/pFlcqWQVVuU/v-deo.html"
I dont disagree on the buttons. I actually cast the c buttons and start buttons in yellow and gold after I made the video. I think I bit more color there will really help.
I'm sure my reaction was similar, but I got that clip from raw64life - Nintendo Sixty-FOOOOOOOOOOUR - ua-cam.com/video/pFlcqWQVVuU/v-deo.html Such an incredible video!
Hi Rocker Gaming I’ve got a question for you. I have a broken N64 joystick and I don’t know where to find a good replacement for it Should I go on eBay or can you recommend a seller or a website?
So full disclosure. I am pretty convinced there are not great 3rd party options available. There are, however, some custom pcb's folks have made that works with GC style joysticks. I would like to investigate these further and I might be able to recommend them. Perhaps your best be would be to find another broken controller and then harvest the stick from it.
Haha, I really appreciate that! We shall see, I'd love to tackle some others and plan to do so here soon! I just have a few other projects lined up I plan to get to first!
I tried for the life of me and couldn't get that plug off. I applied heat. I made little shims to stick in there. Went to pull. Crack. Broke my plug lol.
Dominik, I dont 100% disagree. I actually casted some two tone gold and yellow c buttons and start button. I think should fix the look of the buttons ever so slightly and make it l look much perfect. I'll post it to social media when I get the new buttons in there. I really like the way the A, B and dpad turned out though

Really love these two colored buttons
I would love to see more of that!

Awesome! I'd really like to see some more N64 mods for this new decade!

Nice to see you tackle something new. No led mods is still a bit shocking. I was expecting a LED Star in the middle or something.
Thanks moandain! Haha, very true on the LEDs! I guess I could add some later on if I wanted to 😂😂😂
Dude i just discovered your Channel and binged all of tour videos. You are Amazing, great job!

The casting of the buttons always gets me man its so cool. That pain job is so smooth too. Guy is a master!
Much appreciated dude! I will say I really enjoy doing the button casting it's one of my favorite parts of the build!
Thats a super interesting way to cast colors like that. You da man

Great memory! And fantastic themed mod. You guys make a great team
Eric, much appreciated! Pucho is fantastic to work with and he brings so much to these projects!
This looks like a third party controller that would be sold today.
Incredible! I’m going to try casting buttons! Should be fun!
Luke, I highly recommend it. The process can be frustrating and expect to make mistakes, but once you get it down, the results are great!
