Can an EV handle a Long Road Trip | My Honest Experience

In this video, I take on the ultimate electric vehicle road trip challenge-driving from the UK to the Black Forest in Germany in the Genesis GV70 Electrified. With freezing temperatures, a fully loaded car packed with passengers and luggage, and some unexpected range anxiety, this was a real test of whether an EV is truly practical for long-distance European travel.
The Journey: UK to Germany in an EV
Long-distance EV travel in winter is no joke. The freezing weather meant increased battery consumption, and with the GV70 full of people and luggage, the expected range quickly became a concern. Factor in stretches of unrestricted Autobahn driving, and we found ourselves needing to charge far more often than anticipated.
With charging networks still developing across Europe, we had to carefully plan stops at IONITY, Fastned, and other public chargers-but at one point, we even had to rely on a Tesla Supercharger to keep going! Was it seamless, or did it turn into an EV charging nightmare? Watch to find out!

This journey was an eye-opening experience, showing both the advantages and challenges of long-distance EV travel. The Genesis GV70 Electrified is a luxurious and capable electric SUV, but range loss in cold weather, high-speed driving, and charging infrastructure quirks made this trip far from straightforward.
