There was voice acting in Pokken Tournament DX and Pokemon Battle Revolution (might have been in others but i haven't played them) and it was awesome to have those voices. They gotta bring it back.
General NPC dialogue in the overworld is fine as is, but all cutscenes should be voice acted. I think Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom did a very good job at that balance.
Tell me something I don’t know. But in all seriousness. The cutscenes and the story was the highlight for Scarlet and Violet and my head gets tired of reading an entire movie script. Voice acting needs to be in Pokémon. If the anime has voice actors, so can the games.

I always wanted voice acting ever since Gen 5 to be somehow implemented, especially after the X and Y Trailer all the way back…and now, I am actually pissed that Gen 9 doesn’t have it like come on LOOK AT THESE CUTSCENES-
I have suggested voice acting for the series since for a long time, and I got roasted for even suggesting such a thing when Sword and Shield released. I was apparently an ungrateful fan. Many were saying the presentation was perfect and that people were being unrealistic with their expectations. This feels so much better.
You know man? Fuck them for saying that to you, I am not a Pokemon fan nor played them. But the fact they said that WHILE knowing that the hardware or how they can make a series first (on a mainline game not a spin-off) is capable on producing clear-cut voice acting is still baffling to me that it hasn’t happened yet
@@faustus_tatacher9035 Thank you! I was baffled myself. I think a lot of people in the Pokémon fandom aren't as familiar with other modern JRPGs, so they still think Pokémon is the standard. Happy others are starting to expect more from them.
Nothing about Sword and Shield was perfect xD I played it a lot, but it was kinda disappointing. It got better with the DLC's, but the games should've been like that from the start (bare minimum)
Honestly, part of me is really curious to see another Pokémon game with voice acting like "Detective Pikachu", but on the other hand, I found some UA-camrs while playing that made the funniest voices and it was interesting to see different people and their take on different scenes and characters... It would be extremely cool if we get a game with the option to choose between having the voice acting or not while playing, especially if they get good voice actors, I mean: just imagine all the feelings and emotions an expert could pull out in a game like: "Mystery Dungeon Explorer of the Sky"😍 Being able to chose would just gave us the possibility to enjoy more emotions and even the funny performances of those that play even without voice acting. I'd gladly invest in something like that.
They definitely tried more with it but it still feels like first draft with light edits. I still find the suspension of disbelief very heavy in this one.
Here I scream and grit my teeth at how perfect the voice acting is and how it's not in the game. I am not a pokemon fan, I don't play the games, but I would play only for the waifus and the voice acting. It's so perfect
I don’t know if the Anime is the reason why main Pokémon games don’t have Voice acting because what I heard. When a Pokémon anime debuts, the Japanese voices are first and somewhere later down the line English Voices are implemented because the English dub goes after the Japanese sub. But it would have been easier for the anime to have Voice actors for the games beforehand so auditions for the Pokémon anime or animations don’t have to be such a hassle.
The voice acting that the climax would've had.... Or when arven was tearing up when mabostiff stood up.... Missed opportunity but I understand why it couldn't have been done
@@nunyabizness6089 with the amount of time they had to make the game, how could they do voice acting? The game itself is extremely rough around the edges. They would've had to delay the game in order to worry about something like that
They don’t even need full lines since I understand how much work it would be for such a globally popular kids game (even though I think it would be worth it). If each major character even had a few sounds (like a laugh, grunt etc.), it would add so, so much to the world.
At the start of the game when Nemona calls out like "Over here!" for your first battle it would've been so much more useful with directive audio. I know it's not hard to find her but at that moment I could feel the VA missing
Come on guys be reasonable, you can’t expect a small franchise that has only grossed 118.5 billion (USD) in 25 years to add an expensive feature like voice acting to their small indie game. 🙄
Oh no, they absolutely can afford it, the problem is game design has a problem where to get decent results you need to put in the time. Gamefreak isn’t given that time. Gotta make sure that the new games are out to support the new anime and toy sales after all.
It’s time Game Freak, if someone can bring this together over 2 weeks for a 1 minute video, You can implement voice acting. It would have made such a great addition!
It may not be a time restraint thing though. The reason GF decided to not have VA in their games could also just have been a game design decision by them. Maybe they believe just personally that their mainline games are better without voice acting, similar to something like the paper mario games to give an example and comparison.
Even more crazy because they have an animated show that's been running since the 90's with full voice acting too. It's literally a phone call away! Imagine if they get the voice actor for ash ketchum to voice the player. Just the idea of it is amazing alone!
I’d love voice acting but I also think it’s fun to do the voices yourself. It’s actually something I do a lot and have a lot of fun with when I play lol
Area Zero is the best example of why this game desperately needed voice acting. Having to stop evrrytime a conversation happened just to make sure I could actually read the text was such a disrupt of flow. It would have been much better to have organic audible banter and conversation
We'll just have to wait for the anime. Of course, this small fandub isn't bad. Obviously, Sada/Turo will need to have a glitchy overlap in her/his voice when battling to match the scenario. That would be awesome.
Yeah that's my point. Voice acting is nice and everything if it's done correctly, like japanese ones, but here it just makes it cheap sounding and not immersive at all. ''oh yeah I am really excited as you can hear in my monotone and flaccid voice.''
They could just do english and japanese voices if they cant do every language dubbed. There are games that already do that, and even if its not the language you are playing it with, it still makes the cutscenes more lively than silence but mouths moving
They could and 900% should add voice acting and 100% is added each other generation. They definitely can afford it and aren't even close to being an "underground company" so it's really a matter of wanting to but they totally should add voice acting
I will say reading it is cool and nostalgic. Also I like to give them their own voices. But at the end of the day the voice acting would be a great change for once.
I feel like a mix is what they need. In some of the cutscenes where it’s just textboxes with the characters talking it felt unnatural. But in the cinematic cutscenes with the transparent text box it actually sounded pretty good and I liked it quite a bit
Bro, this game had the most character growth and emotional moments! Imagine Arno's reveal of his Mabosstif or the AI telling Arno his mom/dad truly loved him or the first time Team Star meets Cassiopeia with voice acting! Gamefreak needs to stop being so lazy
i think if they would at least add expressive noises/exclamations during dialogue like in a lot of Zelda games, that would add so much to the characters hearing the same "beep" sound effect after every text box in the game, no matter the tone, characters, or significance of the scene really takes away from the dialogue i guess it doesn't help that i've always found pokémon dialogue to be kinda boring though lol
Personally, I like it better without voice acting since there will come a point where that dialogue will be cut off while waiting for you to continue. Also, it's like when they're dictating an important text to you at school and if you were late at some point or didn't pay attention you can't say "repeat it please" or "you can repeat it" as it will say it all over again and sound tedious , and let's be honest; Not everyone pays attention to long dialogue unless it's interesting, with or without voice acting.
It's especially daunting for repeat playthroughs. Where I just want to play the game and I am just mashing the buttons because these games are littered with unskippable walls of text.
@@ExtremeAce in that case, Is the same to say "No Voice Acting" at all. Is like the "Share EXP" option, now It can't be turn off and everyone know how OP that thing is in actual games.
@@FerSkecth472 Yeah it's incredibly annoying that GameFreak can't give us an option as simple as an on/off for these features. Rather than giving options, they keep removing them. First they removed the exp share off option in Gen 8, and now they removed Set mode and turning off battle animations
I'm a little slow so I myself only finally got to play Sword, and I was thinking this the entire time during those between battle dialogs and the cutscenes. I get not having voice acting for the regular lines, but when you're a semi-slow reader who likes to take their time, but you have fast dialog on? It gets to be a bit much when you're trying to read AND pay attention to their crazy expressive animations. I found myself hitting my Switches capture video button numerous times just so I could go back and actually READ what it was said followed by watching the clip a SECOND time just to see their crazy movement. (I get that I could slow the dialog, but when it's normal text boxes when I'm able to continue when I please? It's nice. Versus "You have 2.3 seconds to read 20 words. Go." I can do it- but not comfortably, lol. I'd probably read it then instantly forget everything that was said.) If the lines were voice lined, I know I could just have fun watching them move about without missing any dialog, and personally I don't understand why they're not voice acted at this point when the TV show always has actors and dub actors. Besides, even though people of all ages play these games, they're typically directed towards children, and I certainly know no child is going to complain at less reading ether, lol. All I can think is it'd be a win-win situation, and I'm impressed after all this time with an open 3D world finally being implemented that they STILL haven't done it. We've come a long way from the pixel sprites and nostalgic retro 8-bit music most of us older players grew up with.
The Pokemon community would hate any game made by the Pokemon community because, at the end of the day, Pokemon fans seem to just not like Pokemon itself.

The funny thing is they made trailers with voice acting! What really made people get hyped when Iono was released was that her entire trailer was voice-acted. Me, and probably a lot of others were expecting full on voice acting when we booted up the game for the first time. It would have made the game a million times better, imo.
tbh there's a chance the voices will be bashed and meme'd since it entirely depends on the person consuming the game he/she bought. Also with the rising popularity of vtubers/streamers/VAs, some people may expect to have those as the VAs. Also, the INTERNAL DEADLINES that are hidden from us consumers - it'll further add up to their timelines, incurring further delays. Delays mean more money being burned and opportunity lost as time goes by.
This is REALLY cool but it's funny how there's *actually* people on the internet complaining about no voice acting, despite... Pokémon games never having voice acting before, and there being 0 indication that THIS specific gen out of all of them would randomly add it It'd be like me complaining that Scarlet and Violet don't let you punch the NPCs, it's literally the same: never been a feature, would be fun if they added it, no reason to think it'd be added; I'm angry about not getting something I made up in my mind and was never promised Edit: Remember kids, REALLY wanting a feature that's never been in a game series does NOT mean the developers are required to listen to you and add it, furthermore, acting all high and mighty and undignified when it's not added doesn't make you correct or above the game, it makes you annoying and, if anything, even *more* wrong about your personal opinionated wishlist being fact.
But there’s a difference between enhancing the immersion and adding pointless violence to the game. Gamefreak has more than enough resources to implement English and or Japanese voice actors for a basic dub, but they don’t because they do the least to make the most money. And also, it wouldn’t be impossibly hard budget wise. They could manage voices like in Genshin where the characters are only voiced during cutscenes, main quests, or special occasions. I haven’t played Scarlet yet, but I’m sure there’s not over twenty cutscenes in the game.
These games are substantially more cinematic than previous generations and therefore should warrant voice acting. Also, just because Pokemon has never had voice acting doesn't mean it shouldn't, it's just something that's only become more noticeable now that they've gone out of their way to add more emotion to the script.
@@Paul_ici You know I could've used ANY example, right? The punching itself wasn't something to argue against... "I'm mad that the new Mario platformer didn't have QUADRUPLE jumping!" I can imagine the tone and come up with the sounds of the voices in my head just from all the reading I've done and tried to play our the book in my mind isntead of just reading the words on the page. Even so, I agree with the fact that voice acting would have probably tripled the sales on this game just for peopel to buy and want to play the first voiced pokemon game.

The voice acting here is amazing. A shame it's not actually in the game.
They really should do voice acting with how big the games are getting now
Damn the voice acting makes it sooo much better i never really thought it would make such an impact
Honestly, if they just added VA for the key cutscenes like the final fight and a couple of the ones here it wouldve made it infinitely times better
Fr, though I feel the story only really picked up in the area zero portion, the rest just kinda felt standard.
Fr was waiting for this to have voice acting I really don't like trying to say this on different voices but it sure sounds better with people reading the transcript of Pokemon Scarlet
Shhh, dont give them any new ideas.
They might make an anime without voice lines and then you have to read everything said
@@arinloche858 Most of the story was shit mostly due to Penny and Nemona being abolutely terrible characters. That is honestly just an insane amount of difference. Didn't think I'd advocate for voice acting so much till I saw this!
"THE GAME SHOULD'VE BEEN LIKE THIS :O"! Has the most monotone voice acting in the video
I always wanted voice acting ever since Gen 5 to be somehow implemented, especially after the X and Y Trailer all the way back…and now, I am actually pissed that Gen 9 doesn’t have it like come on LOOK AT THESE CUTSCENES-
Wow, I've never really measure how the voices could be important in a Pokemon game but I have to admit that it's great :D
I kinda like skipping through cutscenes without hearing "a- ooh- eeh- ech- ash- p-"
I think they are trying, for better or worse, to imitate how a book make you imagine how a character's voice sounds like.
Even visual novels have voice acting
I hope someone can somehow mod some voice actors in this game. That'll be great.
Imagine GameFreak giving us VA in the final trailer... *surprised Pikachu face*
I have suggested voice acting for the series since for a long time, and I got roasted for even suggesting such a thing when Sword and Shield released. I was apparently an ungrateful fan. Many were saying the presentation was perfect and that people were being unrealistic with their expectations. This feels so much better.
U paid 60$ for broken game with no voice acting. U deserved better.
@@annedrieck7316 I didn't even buy Sword and Shield not the newest game. Yes, I think the fans deserve better.
It would be extremely cool if we get a game with the option to choose between having the voice acting or not while playing, especially if they get good voice actors, I mean: just imagine all the feelings and emotions an expert could pull out in a game like: "Mystery Dungeon Explorer of the Sky"😍
Being able to chose would just gave us the possibility to enjoy more emotions and even the funny performances of those that play even without voice acting.
I'd gladly invest in something like that.
Anyone else who pictured their voices in your head

Then you're misunderstanding, because it COULD have been done. Gamefreak/TPC is just really stingey.

@@HeroHansel321 But maybe the people will ask for the voice acting in all the languages

I stopped playin Pokémon games a while ago, glad to see I’m not missing out on much.
I truly stopped at Gen V. I played Y but I don't remember the characters or story at all 😂

It would have made such a great addition!
It may not be a time restraint thing though. The reason GF decided to not have VA in their games could also just have been a game design decision by them.

Tbf, they would have a professional voice actor, not a random UA-camr.
In the final cut scene after the zero zone. Voice acting was definitely missing
No no stop shut up. No textboxes. We're talking about an infinite money mega corporation. Every gosh darn cutscene should have voice acting

I just hear the voices in my head read the dialogue lol
Thank god for the Normal half of this video, I'd never guess what the scene might look like without voice acting.
I’m ok without voice acting
i think if they would at least add expressive noises/exclamations during dialogue like in a lot of Zelda games, that would add so much to the characters
hearing the same "beep" sound effect after every text box in the game, no matter the tone, characters, or significance of the scene really takes away from the dialogue
i guess it doesn't help that i've always found pokémon dialogue to be kinda boring though lol
They really need to up their game and paid good money to hire people who could write better dialogue than those monkeys at gamefreak.
So why not have an option to turn voice acting on and off? Why choose one or the other when there can be both options?
@@ExtremeAce in that case, Is the same to say "No Voice Acting" at all. Is like the "Share EXP" option, now It can't be turn off and everyone know how OP that thing is in actual games.
@@FerSkecth472 Yeah it's incredibly annoying that GameFreak can't give us an option as simple as an on/off for these features. Rather than giving options, they keep removing them. First they removed the exp share off option in Gen 8, and now they removed Set mode and turning off battle animations
You 2 gotta be voice actors like srsly, perfection 10/10
I'd probably read it then instantly forget everything that was said.)
If the lines were voice lined, I know I could just have fun watching them move about without missing any dialog, and personally I don't understand why they're not voice acted at this point when the TV show always has actors and dub actors.
Whoever recorded the Nemona bits deserves a raise, that voice was perfect.
At this point the fanbase is gonna make the games 🗿

The funny thing is they made trailers with voice acting!
What really made people get hyped when Iono was released was that her entire trailer was voice-acted. Me, and probably a lot of others were expecting full on voice acting when we booted up the game for the first time.
It would have made the game a million times better, imo.
I’ve thought of this before and you’re totally right
tbh there's a chance the voices will be bashed and meme'd since it entirely depends on the person consuming the game he/she bought.
This is the the most consumed franchise in history, what’re you on about
This is REALLY cool but it's funny how there's *actually* people on the internet complaining about no voice acting, despite... Pokémon games never having voice acting before, and there being 0 indication that THIS specific gen out of all of them would randomly add it
It'd be like me complaining that Scarlet and Violet don't let you punch the NPCs, it's literally the same: never been a feature, would be fun if they added it, no reason to think it'd be added; I'm angry about not getting something I made up in my mind and was never promised
Edit: Remember kids, REALLY wanting a feature that's never been in a game series does NOT mean the developers are required to listen to you and add it, furthermore, acting all high and mighty and undignified when it's not added doesn't make you correct or above the game, it makes you annoying and, if anything, even *more* wrong about your personal opinionated wishlist being fact.
"I'm mad that the new Mario platformer didn't have QUADRUPLE jumping!" (Never been a thing)
"I'm mad that this new MegaMan game doesn't have quicksaving like in an emulator!" (Never been a thing)
"I'm mad this new Zelda game doesn't have air combos with the sword like with Devil May Cry combat!" (Never been a thing)
"I'm mad that this Pokémon game doesn't have voice acting!" (Never been a thing)
