I love this deep, haunting song. This is pure Stevie at her best. I keep saying that she is one of the greatest storytellers and poets we have come to love for all these decades. I too listen to the lyrics...she always has a deep meaning for every song she writes and I can usually relate that to something in my own life. Just as "Rumors" was all true songs about the band. If anyone can get a hold of a copy of the book Mic Fleetwood wrote years ago....around 1989.....read it! It's really awesome and gives true insight to these 5 great people. Thanks for sharing the upload! ♡ Rock on ancient Queen! !
I saw someone post that this is about a story by Oscar Wilde called The birthday of infanta. I do remember reading along time ago that Stevie likes Oscar Wilde. I googled it and printed it out and read it, this song makes a lot of sense once you have read this
AnOm75 - agree. This sounds more like an OSOTM outtake. I can see not having Escape (Doing The Best I Can )and this on the same CD - as brilliant & awesome as both are.
My queen my one and only Queen take me with you the most beautiful woman on this Earth today my queen take me with you you beautiful good witch my queen
Stevie really should have won the Grammy for Shangri La. And Sheryl should have at least been nominated for her production work. She resurrected the career of a national treasure the way Brandi Carlyle did with Tanya tucker and Rick Rubin did with Johnny cash@@tiffanyroseangeles34
Well she did start working on Trouble in Shangri-La in about 1995, so it could be from the mid to late 90s..but it's DEFINITELY a demo for Trouble in Shangri-La, that much I know.
I agree with 'shanemiro' -this sounds like it was recorded in the early 90's judging by her voice... Her high notes took on a more brassy tone during the TISL era... just a thought...not trying to challege anyones facts!...i hate when ppl have 'youtube comment fights' lol
Stevie i think about you night and day.i am the real deal and am not imaginary.i wish that i coul hug and kisswith you and get to know you better.you are my ray of sunshine.our friendship and love grows more and more everyday.
thank you. i have never heard this one and i crave anything from stevie and anything new is exactly what the doctor ordered. i love stevie! i agree. anything with stevie there can be no wrong.
I cant believe this song was left off TISL. I think this song is better than about 4 others on that album. This song has that old Stevie intensity that the ablum could have used.
From princess to marriage to children to have no right to really live it all. Why will he not dance again? Because he used her body and the dance of love....was just Al Bundy saved for the death of everything you hold dear.
I love it OMG why cannot Stevie put this on an album with mirror mirror? This isn't a song ...its a masterpiece
I love this song and I hope she puts this on an album, exactly the way it is and not let some producers screw it up

I once saw her, very wasted, she could not finish the concert, BUT, we all understood. Love you Dear.
This song is definitely a masterpiece but then again Stevie is a lyrical and songwriting genius!
Nice writing
@WeirdGirlCyndi she is one of the few that have enough talent to write her own songs and put real feeling and power in her songs!
Honestly I have to wonder why this song isn't better known. My all time favorite Stevie song is Beauty and the Beast. This is my second.

I just read it and wow

For those looking for the story! Be Blessed Be Well Stay Safe Much love :)
This sounds strikingly similar to 'Doing the best that I can' from her 1989 album 'The other side of the mirror'

meravigliosa Stevie
My queen my one and only Queen take me with you the most beautiful woman on this Earth today my queen take me with you you beautiful good witch my queen
The 9 people that disliked this song really Have No Heart...
Wow. Perfect.
At the risk of repeating myself, does anyone have a download of this ? Stevie's demos are so great. I wish she'd release a few albums of those.
Shangri la really was her best album. She should re release a deluxe edition with this song on it
Sheryl Crow joined in and produced it too❤

Now I know this was based on an Oscar Wilde short story The Birthday Of The Princess Infanta which makes it even more beautiful.
Great song I love this song it a beautiful song
What a FANTASTC song...so dark, but amazing none the less....thank you, of course, I love EVERYTHING she`s ever done ....
"living without her...
would not be living..."
i love this, thankyou so much for sharing this with me and the rest of us stevie fans!!!!
I like this song. she should put it in an album. She has so many we have not heard.

Absolutely beautiful...
My God. Stevie is an anchanting , bewitching glamorous Lady of Rock! She is The Mistress of the Craft of Lyrical Art! Love you Stevie!
Love her voice in this. Thanks for sending it to me. Stevie is our girl.
Yup😊
I love this song, so deep, so mysterious!
Yes it does, the music is similar, I have no idea why people have clicked the thumbs down, your right.

Channel Ian - I agree. It’s a beautiful song & vocal. More late 80s than TISL era.
Dare I say that some of her unreleased work for outshines her top hits.
enchanted will be my heart and I became very dark....she had no heart....for me at all...there was nothing worth living... have no heart..............
So this song isn’t available to purchase right? it was never released? She still had some good vibrato so as a perfect song for a movie soundtrack.
Stevie i think about you night and day.i am the real deal and am not imaginary.i wish that i coul hug and kisswith you and get to know you better.you are my ray of sunshine.our friendship and love grows more and more everyday.
Never heard this song before. Stevie sure had a lot of different looks. PammieKay
Thank you so much for sharing this song I've never heard before. It's so beautiful.
Flip flop
This is the STEVIE that I LOVE! Intense!
Thanks to Blaid for this wonderful share.5***** hugs,Jan and Susan.x
It's definitely at least post 1994, since this was a demo from the TISL sessions, and she didn't start that album until then.
Wow, I love this! I hadn't heard this one before.
thank you. i have never heard this one and i crave anything from stevie and anything new is exactly what the doctor ordered. i love stevie! i agree. anything with stevie there can be no wrong.

9 years ago, but, I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!
It was recorded in 1989 for TOTOTM not TISL which desperately needed a song like this. TISL is her worst album IMO. Listened to it less than 10 times.
this song is sooo dark and atmospheric, I really like this.
thank you ... who ever posted this GEM...
Welsh Warlock love your name 🌙

this is from The Other Side of the Mirror
From princess to marriage to children to have no right to really live it all. Why will he not dance again? Because he used her body and the dance of love....was just Al Bundy saved for the death of everything you hold dear.
