I really wanted to see your reaction to this movie. What a film, and to this day it remains a great piece of cinema. The photography, set design, music score and story, and of course the creature, designed by HR GIGER , make this film an absolute classic. a masterclass of suspense and science fiction. I can't praise this movie enough, I saw it when I was 6 and it marked me for life, but in a good way, many years ago.
Great reaction, and possibly the only reactor ive seen that grasped that Ripley was going to open the airlock as soon as she puts on the suit! The whole series is worth reacting to imo, though many will tell you otherwise.
Hi Elena, it's fantastic you've seen this iconic sci-fi classic, it's so good! Please react to it's incredible sequel Aliens (1986) soon, it's one of the GOAT sequels.
I also first saw this at a drive-in movie theatre in 1979 but every time the music anticipated appearance of the alien, including the debut of the initial face-hugger, I slid down my carseat so my eyes were below the dashboard. I did not actually see the alien until I rewatched the film a few years later!
Part II 😁 Forgot to add if (when) you watch the next one, most suggest the extended version and BTW that wasn't a Alien 👽 house but a space craft!! Just scanned your channel. Looks like good reactions to watch!! Hmmm 🤔 might have to subscribe!? 🕊️☮️
Your question about automated systems: Yes, there has been more or less automated systems for centuries. Using springs (clocks and windup dolls) etc. One of the more interesting automated feature was when Soviet forces had to evacuate Hanko in December 1941, they placed their Maxim machine guns with thousands of rounds, linking belts together, putting huge water coolant vats for guns water cooling and and rigged record player with metallic touch surfaces. When record played and touch surface was hit, machine gun would shoot briefly. Record would have touch surfaces put uneven space. That way they kept illusion of manned positions while evacuating all personnel. Very creative way using basic automation system.
GREAT REACTION!! Above average editing also. Some over butcher and we watch them react to nothing and some leave more with the awesome quotes and interactions!! You are really going to like the next one and I will be looking out for it 👁️👁️!! Good Job Miss Rea!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Very nice reaction, I'm glad that you watched this version and not the standard theatrical release. There's an interesting story when Lambert hit Ripley. There had been a number of takes of the scene, which meant that Sigourney Weaver was anticipating the move from Veronica Cartwright. So Ridley Scott took Veronica aside and told her to really hit Sigourney, which is the cut that appears in this version of the film. Regarding Aliens, I suggest that you watch the directors cut version of it.
Although it was not used as he intended, this is, once more, a fantastic score by legendary composer Jerry Goldsmith. Check out the credits for a movie if you are on the look out for something to watch; his name on it almost always means something interesting.
One must not forget the end credit score. Howard Hanson's Symphony no.2. This must have been a favourite of Ridleys has he rejected Jerry's take on the final end credits.
This is a nearly perfect movie. My only criticism, and it's minor, is that the Nostromo blowing up THREE times was perhaps a bit over the top. Yes, it blows up three times. But, both this and its direct sequel are both 5 star movies, but in different ways. The sequel, Aliens, is more of a action thriller with horror elements but done incredibly well. One of the greatest sequels of all time.
@TeIeGrm-The_ElenaRea I meant that You were first one who in these reactions at least wondered the gravity (3:06). We can see that there isn't any kind of rotation in Nostromo. Rotation is the only way to create almost natural artifical gravity in this universe. Of course these movies are full of impossible things, and I accept that but often there is some kind of explanation how that artificial gravity or impossible speed is made.
How did the alien get on the escape ship? Well, when Ripley went back to try to disengage the self-destruct (because the alien was in her path and she would not have enough time to go around), the alien was drawn to the escape ship and settled in for a rest in the warm cooling tubes. A funny alternate ending for the movie that was briefly considered was, at the end of the movie Ripley battles the alien and she loses her life(!). The alien climbs into the cockpit, pushes some buttons and then sends out a distress signal *in Captain Dallas' voice!* This would have been a totally unexpected ending but a bit too "out there".
@TeIeGrm-The_ElenaRea the sequels I enjoyed include : Mad Max 2 beyond thunder dome, Terminator 2 judgement day, Aliens, Need for speed 2 Tokyo Drift, Predator 2,and I'll throw in Avatar 2 🤔 as I said... Not many sequels are as good as the original 😕
Never ask about gravitation in movies. It's too expensive to do for more than a few seconds (must be done in airplanes that go up and down, so you are weightless for life 30 seconds before the airplane starts rising again and you actually weight twice... And back then you didn't even have CGI to help
My favorite movie series. I saw this in theaters in '79, scared everyone. The set is all real. The filming was done using models. This was right after Star Wars '77 so they took a piece from here, cut a piece off, painted and you got the Nostromo. The ship landing on the planet was just recently restored 4 foot model, found rotting in some warehouse. I liked your reactions. There are other movies in this series. I will tell you what I tell every youtube watch the PROMETHEUS FIRST, then the sequel ALIENS> No one listens but the Prometheus was made as the prequel to Alien so tell you much about the infamous "Company" the planet system .Well girl go ahead. If you have any questions just ask me in the comments. I know a lot about this series. so Prometheus is next, then Aliens. As far as the other movies the sequel to Prometheus is Alien Covenant, but I think the other movies are junk. other fans will disagree
Elena, this film changed the alien genre forever by only showing the alien a few times in the film, and by making sure that it didn't look human. Now that you've seen this, you'll be able to understand the movies that come after it. While some will suggest that anything after "Aliens" isn't true to the original, there are decent stories regarding source material. Ridley Scott returned to the franchise for "Prometheus" and that fills in the blanks on a lot and makes people question the timing of certain Earthly events. I suspect that you'll enjoy the other alien films. This does make me wonder though, how would you have handled this situation the crew found themselves in? Take care and keep smiling.
The music for this movie is fantastic, but how it came to be is also quite interesting. Although it was composed by the great Jerry Goldsmith, it was not necessarily from music made specifically for this movie, nor the bits he wrote for specific scenes. Here's an interesting video on the subject: ua-cam.com/video/bAzIV27sr40/v-deo.htmlsi=PvGlDfgFTgtv-mtW Regardless, the music begins filling you with dread and loneliness from the very first frame. The last ten minutes of this movie are among the best ever, in any movie. IMO.
It might have been that returning might have been hard to do and if it is a company, you have to realize they are looking at the cost. I’m assuming the loss of the crew to them is far less costly (to the company), then the lives of that crew.
A young viewer is boarding the "Nostromo." What will she make of this "old, long, slow-moving, character-centered, no-DFX" movie? In 1979, TV and print ads said only: "In space, no one can hear your scream." What kind of movie is it going to be?, we wondered. 5:05 The Company is sending the equivalent of a freighter crew to "do science" on an unexplored planet! 9:04 Canny viewers saw Ash's "calisthenics" as suspect. 11:38 The Space Jockey, a mystery for decades. 13:15 Second Officer Kane = Zapp Brannigan. 14:21 How's that for a jump scare? 14:31 This conversation has become iconic due to recent events. 15:19 The Face Hugger, grossing out audiences for years. 17:03 Acid Blood! They can't "just cut it off him." 20:14 A Props dept. work of ART, made of sea animals. 21:46 Kane's last meal. 22:38 The Xenomorph, scaring audiences for over 40 years. 23:55 Along came Jones. 25:24 Say hello to Bolaji Badejo. You are watching the Special Edition version with scenes not seen in 1979. 28:00 You're in command, Ripley. 29:40 In 1979, this was my "WTF? Ash ISN'T Human!?" moment. 31:20 Most didn't see this coming. 33:30 I've read that Lambert is standing in for us, the audience. 34:40 I've seen this scene only recently. 35:20 Escape route cut off. 38:23 Tonight's entree on the shuttle "Narcissus" is Steamed Xenomorph in Shell. 38:59 Correction, Char-Broiled Xenomorph.

Technically Tom Skeritt was the lead actor. Weaver wasn't a big star yet
Not back in 1979 you didn’t especially when one is 13/14 years old. In 🇬🇧 it was rated as an X meaning you had to be 18 to watch it.
