I came to this tutorial over 2 years ago and couldn’t manage it, I decided to try again after rediscovering the song and it’s crazy how much easier to follow along it is now. Practice really does work huh
It's not just the chords here but it's the light rhythms in between that make this easy sounding tune a very fast moving piece of work to try to keep up with. Thanks for pointing out all the little details with the Cm and Eb open chords. I like how he goes to the E in the second "losing sight of life" part of the bridge before going down to the descending F pattern. Very cool to catch that!
Shutup & Play : Your explanations about this peculiar way of playing (with the index) changed my life ! I mean, after few weeks, my guitar playing progressed significatively... and it was 1 year ago ! Your tutos are absolutly perfect, useful, easy to understand and actually made me a better guitar player.
Thank you for taking the time to show the picking pattern. So many videos will focus on the chords and blow over the picking. It looks like you are actually doing Bass down up Bass up Down as opposed to the Bass down up Bass down up that you say. Is that correct?
Great song. Great tutorial. Thanks a million. I heard this song recently and tried to figure out how to play it. I knew there had to be some kind of alternate tuning after watching Paul M perform it live on UA-cam. I was getting nowhere until I learned from your video that Paul drops his tuning by 2 half-steps. So, that means that it's actually in Bb. Correct? (The DeFacto key). I appreciate your clear & concise style. Enjoy!
I'm both mad and greatful; I've been playing this in the most complicated way possible and you show me how to make it just as easy as blackbird. Bravo!
This is a really great lesson - one of the best ever. When I first watched the demo I thought "no way!" but the explanations are so clear that I've got most of it down now. It's taken time and a lot of slow practice but so satisfying to play such a beautiful tune. Many thanks Andy.
This is such a great tutorial, thank you! Is there a tab to accompany this at all? The blackbird vid + tab really helped me to get that down after playing it wrong for years. Thanks again.
Thank you very much for your enthusiasm which really helps music lovers to comprehend better the mechanics of the attractive. As soon as you seem to be the only trustworthy interpretor of Sir Paul the acoustic - though you may smile and say, no there are few sof us, believe me, there's no one of the kind in the web - will you do us another favor and teach how to play a wrongfully forgotten McCartney's number, his brilliant BIP BOP LINK from the Wings Wild Life? Do it please, it is only 52 seconds long.
You say wrong about it was a first in pop music history instrument, called duduk was used . A long time ago another british and brillant artist Genesis leader Peter Gabriel used the duduk after watching french/armenian director Henri Verneuil (aka Ashod Malakian) movie "588 rue Paradis" released 1992. Levon Ter Minassian from Marseilles France played this instrument. Another french musician and member of Steve Hillage band Gong Didier Malesherbes is also playing the duduk.
I know this is almost a year old but what you need to do is practice finger picking. You must learn the technique before you can make music using the technique. You'll suck for a long time but keep doing it and your brain will finally get it and your fingers will follow suit.
Weird, you play "take these broken wings and learn to fly" part of Blackbird differently just playing the A string throughout, looks like it'd be much easier then switching between the low E to the A, which I can understand why you'd want to make that bit easier cause that's the easiest part to mess up on accident! I know cause I mess it up constantly! But that base string just sounds so good, I don't think I'll change it... Anyways I'm rambling, but yeh, you play Blackbird weird. The end.

This proves. He’s still better than any pop artist today. No one does this, this good
Another beautiful little jewel from the most prolific songwriter of all. And a very good lesson. Thanks a lot.
Great lesson as per usual. McCartney is a very underrated acoustic player. His style is wonderful.
I love the song Black Bird but this song has really got it going on.

You can get a tutorial of "Hey Diddle" by Paul McCartney please :)
Hi Andy! Perfect as always! But did Paul detune guitar just to match his voice or any other reason? Thank you.
I think it sounds much better. Also blackbird a while step down sounds just so much nicer.
Great video man! That you!

You mentioned so many names and events that I just assume you must be correct. Take my oblivious upvote.

It won't take you long if you kno de weh
It took me about 30 minutes to learn by ear back in 2005 😝
Can you please do smoke on the water solo? Or mary Jane's last dance?
Maravilloso
This is great, but I’m stuck on the “finger flick thingy” could someone explain it to me please?
Do you mean the finger picking? :v

Man, the guitar is one great pain in the ass. Thanks for all the hard work, S&P. Still hoping to hear you cover some XTC.
Hi Andy i have a question.. What is the tuning of guitar?
How about a tribute song 38 years old, there is not a good version done on the internet and it would be a good way to honour him. RIP Gorden Downie
He's not dead yet...
Nice ))))

Do you have long hair?

As good as you are, you MUST have some originals....
No tiene una guía de acordes y solamente la voz no es muy práctica para entender el video
You can buy the tab here: www.shutupandplay.ca/jenny-wren--acoustic.html
lol
sorry man but you're so difficult to follow and understand 😭
