    Hi Jay. I moved. to Mac for AutoCAD LT 2024. I love your videos! They are very clear for most of the things that I am using. Can you tell me please how you start a line or polyline that is offset from an existing point? I cannot see how you did it in the tutorial. Thanks.

    Hi Jay, I just watched your 2-hour long tutorial, AutoCAD complete course for 2023 MAC. It was tremendously helpful. Thank you so much for creating it. One thing that was not covered and that I cannot find instructions for anywhere is how to add a scale bar to a layout. Is that not possible in AutoCAD?

    it's CMD+(whatever), control/shift doesn't do copy/paste unless you can change it. By far the best ACAD tutorial. I'm taking drafting at my local school. I have a mac at home where I'll be doing HW and I'll be learning on a Windows computer at school with ACAD 22. Should be interesting to say the least, lol.

      All schools for the most part teach on Windows and will definitely be interesting to learn on both OS - best of luck with your class & HW!

    dumbest of questions but when I insert a value for a poly line, rectangle or whatsoever, what do you press on your keyboard afterwards to confirm the value/set the line? because return key does nothing here on Cad 2024

    Thank you so much for this video, Jay!! I was wondering if when we change the annotation scale in order to fix the appearance of dashed/zigzag lines and then regenerate - does that change the scale of the whole drawing? or it only affects those lines that are not straight?

    • @JayCad
      @JayCad  Рік тому +1

      Hey Alex
      Exactly how you described it, its only to make the dashing appear - the only place you change the scale for the drawing is inside a “viewport” which sits in a “layout” tab to make the drawing appear on a paper in a certain scale
      I hope this helps!
      Cheers

    Hod did you chance the object snap settings? I can only put it on or off and when I draw a line it will only attach to a corner not for exempel to a midpoint. Can it be different because I have AutoCAD 2024?

    Great job ! I'm starting my adventure with AC on Macbook. I've been working on Win for years, and now I'm giving up :( How can I change, for example, the color of the autorack vector or the auto-snap markers? There's probably some system variable, but I can't find it at all. Thank you very much for your help.

    • @JayCad
      @JayCad  9 місяців тому

      Thank you @tomaszwojciechowski9659 Unfortunately, I am not familiar with a system variable to change the color of the auto-snap markers.
      There's a setting in the options window (type OP+return to access) then head to "Cursor & Selection" tab - from there you can change the color of the Crosshair.
      Potentially you already figured it out and I hope this still helps!
      Cheers
      Jay

    Workflow question: Working with other software I rarely have to click ESC or Return (You can either click out of things or hit space). Is there a trick to this or are you just used to it? For example, hitting return (to confirm something) then esc (to deselect) is killing me, especially since my right hand is on the mouse so it's done with my left hand.

    • @JayCad
      @JayCad  Рік тому

      I have 3 suggestions for you:
      1. You can actually use Space button to finalize a command in AutoCAD
      2. You can get a mouse with customizable buttons and assign Esc button to the mouse
      3. You can customize buttons to your liking for example “Space button to “Cancel”. You can do that from “Alias Edit” - just type it and you’ll see this window
      Hope this helps!

      @samb.4260 Рік тому

      Very nice, thanks. Im hesitant to customize buttons when still new to a software (there might be a logic I don't see yet). But 1 & 2 seem like very good ideas. Thanks!@@JayCad

    Hey great video so far! the stretching tool isn't allowing me to pull down as seen in your demonstration. Am i missing something in the process of evenly stretching down a section?

    • @wm.schwartz7057
      @wm.schwartz7057 Рік тому +2

      You are correct, it is quirky. I left-clicked the mouse and dragged it from right to left to create a green area over what I wanted to stretch. When I then placed the cursor over one of the blue boxes that appeared on the lines and corners. A popup window appeared with the option to stretch at the top of the list of options. I clicked on stretch and moved the cursor to where I wanted the line to move. It moved. I then left-clicked again to enter the new location. Later, when I tried it again, it actually performed like in the tutorial. There seems to be a sequence of left mouse clicks that determines success or failure. I am still working on it. Let us know if the above worked for you.

    • @JayCad
      @JayCad  Рік тому

      Thank you Wm for helping! I will make a dedicated tutorial for the Stretch command as it works differently compared to other commands
      Julian, I hope it's working for you now!

    • @JayCad
      @JayCad  Рік тому

      Hey there, in all honesty, I do not have experience inserting Excel files in CAD
      I usually print an excel sheet (or schedule, or any table of information) to a PDF document, then I would attach that to my CAD drawing
      I hope this helps!

    Great program. The only issue is that you don't show or wait on the button you click on. You cursor is too fast to see what you clicked. Thank you
    Specially when showing the layout and scaling the plat area.

      Once you have access to the Autocad trial or subscription, you can choose to install the AutoCad mac version

    4 hrs later and I still don't know how to take my drawings in mm and print on an A3 via the layout!! Ridiculously frustrating, with a scaling that I can put in the title block. And the video did help, somewhat, but in reality just shows me how slow I am.

    • @JayCad
      @JayCad  Рік тому

      Here’s the process just in case - note that I am not familiar with the Metric system:
      * you use “layout” to place “viewports” of the “Model Space” - Viewports are like clips of the Model space and the drawings you have there.
      * you setup the “layout” paper size (in your case A3)
      * you assign a scale (whichever you’re using) to the “viewport”
      * the scale has to be a size that fits the paper - not all scales fit on a paper (or layout)
      * note that layout / paper / sheet are almost the same thing here which is layout.
      * it is confusing to print in AutoCad because of the terms used in the software
      I hope this helps - happy to still answer your questions
      All the best
      Jay

    • @UBEnergy1872
      @UBEnergy1872 Рік тому

      Whatever scale I use in the viewport it doesn't show the objects in the viewport. The only scale that works is the 'scale to fit', which is a weid number: 0.010248 and that is not a number I can put under scale in the title block. Don't worry too much. It is almost midnight and I just xxxxxxx frustrated with this software.@@JayCad
