It's takes a lot to spook me nowadays, but this was truly creepy. Loved it! Beautifully written and presented. Thank you.
Beautifully written! This story really set me back in that day and time. Sounds like you did your research, too. I think your listeners would love to hear more period pieces like this with ghosts and vengeful spirits. I sure would! (Anyway, bloody well done, this one. 😉)
Very pleased you liked it
I LIKE the sound effects! And the picture is gorgeous. THANKS for this!!
I’ve really enjoyed your podcasts. I’ve subscribed to your Podcasts on Spotify. Thank you so much. You are making the difficult time for those alone to tolerate the isolation.
An old couple and one maid living in that big house alone is creepy enough
That was great! And being read by Tony Walker was an added bonus.
You mean this isn't Tony Walker's channel? Whose TW? 😩😶
Brillant. You enhance the story with your voice, presentation; with perfect voice intonation, great sound-effects, and a Vampire accent which would deceive any respectable Vampire into being convinced you are one of their own. Thank you. Please continue doing a fantastic job.Much appreciated!!!!
Brilliant story - really eerie sound effects - the screams were chilling and the narration perfect 👍
I'm only a few minutes in and already happy.
I love this style, thank you for sharing your own work!!
Well written and narrated and actually gave me a wee shiver which is rare.
I really loved the sound effects on this one!
I love these short stories. Super creepy and just right.
Oh my. This is an excellent story. Written and narrated by a true master. Oh, I love the description of the "guest" throughout the story. The initial description of him is amazing. I do not scare easily, but this one put me on a heightened alert. This is a true gem.
I have so much to say, but I do not want to spoil it for those who read threads before listening to the story.
Suffice it to say, only a very old werewolf from the deepest reaches of the Black Forest would "save the day" in this case.
Excellent job, Tony! I will be sending this out to friends to listen to.
I really appreciate that Donald
Beware the dark clad stranger...
Ditto: Love the sound-effects!!!!!!! SCREAM!!!!!
Fantastic Writing and Superbly Narration!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💫💞
Namasté 🙏🕊️🕊️
Andréa and Jasper. . ..XxX...
Really enjoyed this! And the sound effects! You build up the menace of the gathering Scots beautifully. And as for that guest...I had no idea as to where his loyalties lay. Until the end...
A warning for those listening with headphones, you may wish to turn the volume down a touch around the 16:10 mark!
Bloody marvelously atmospheric, the sound effects are perfect & really make you feel as if you are there (especially through headphones, with your eyes closed, I was transported into the tower) So once again THANK YOU for your brilliant writing & narration ❤️🔥🌠❤️🔥
Unusual, unsettling story.♥️
Listened again tonight. Such an eerie tale! A wonderful and original story. Great work.
I nearly jumped out of my skin at Lady Dalston’s first scream. 😱
Sad to say that’s what I wanted . I am evil
Very nice read thank you
The raider would get in after the door was locked, especially if he is already inside those doors. Ooh.
What a amazing story the history in was fantastic thank you very much
Loved this one ... thank you .
Wonderfully creepy! I love a good vampire story. Great, as always, Sir!
Thank you!
Thank you
Great story Tony
Thanks for listening
As a HUGE Orson Welles fan, I'm rarely impressed by other radio shows/ narrations. However, your work is phenomenal. Great job.
Orson was the master! But thank you.
Oooo , this was so good . Very creepy . I loved the screams
Just listened to hillgate one by you liked it so here I am hopefully going to the third one you were talking about next
I very much enjoyed this story as well.
THAT WAS FREAKIN' AMAZING!!!!!
Thank you very much ❤️
Especially enjoyed your smokey reading seductive creepy tone. Thank you
Thanks for listening
Excellent. Very good. Thank you.
As a child, vampires were the scariest to me, for two reasons: they invade your home, and you could become a vampire yourself! After watching Dracula, I was afraid to sleep with the window open.
I remember watching a programme that said vampires were real. I couldn't sleep afterwards for days
@@ClassicGhost Ironically, these scary stories are much less scary than the daily news in 2021. Listening to audio books has replaced tv for me.
Omg brilliant thanks
Liked it, good job😆
That was fantastic
Thank you !!
This is my second or third time listening to this particular story. I can't express to you how much I love these old vampire stories it's a Pity that it was not longer.
Well I just wanted to tell you of how much I enjoyed it once again.
I Wonder if you have any more early early centuries horror stories like this ?
I love to hear the passionate screams of fright !
I will continue to look
and see what type of
frightening words,
that you may have collaborated together.
I hope the listeners out there have listened to this in the darkness over room
" BUT COMPLETELY. "
"" ALONE ""
Goodnight for now
and I hope you
Slept Well ?
I have been having mixed sleep today, Eddie. Did you hear my Fall of the House of Usher by Poe?
The comments appear to be turned off for The Old Nurses' Story" but I'd like to say thankyou, anyway.
That was mysterious. I've turned them on now
Of course you have to invite them in, predictable but good
Wow! This is so good! A really creepy story. Thank you!
❤the
Narrator!
nicely done
That women screaming is unnerving as fuck great job.
That scream got me!😰
I hope that’s good
@@ClassicGhost yeah, for sure! It was the first one in the story and I was not expecting it at all. My pipe fell into my lap as I jumped out of my skin.
At the time I felt like that emoji best described my shock.
Crate story Tony!❤
Some of these stories do have comments off. I wish it wasn't that way. I also don't like you tube policy that puts videos in "mixes". You can never comment again once they do that.
Yikes! 😳
Good job! 👍🏻👻
Thanks for the visit
Too scary for me. I'll have to finish this during the daylight.
Is the castle in the story Dalston Hall now?
yep
GREAT. Simpler more elemental title perhaps, "The Guest"
Yes . I regret the title I chose now
@@ClassicGhost No regrets. Many Victorian horror stories had explicit names. The Tomb of Sarah. The Room in the Tower. I assumed you deliberately titled it to mimic this convention. (Though, I admittedly anticipated the vampire would be the Lord of Dalston. ha!)
First off : This has nothing to do with this story
""NOT WHAT SO EVER""
But, I have much more
of it written that I did not type in.
Well with that said I hope you take a look at it it is a bit humorous and then defensive
" Have a great day"
OTHER THAN
A. STORYTELLER
AS. WE, HAVE ONE
HERE IN THIS STORY
" The only thing that. " possessed me to write
" this : was the date "
1522
with thinking of the
England's of ole old
Now a. comment : are tended to be short, but sometimes I tend to turn my comments from a short phrase :
To sometimes into
a short book, then sometimes i would create characters that would describe the current situation. As if you read the continuation of this : You will see , you will read that there will be, two different people with two completely different characteristics.
One of the persons trying to tell his story, 1 then another person trying to defend his person and his place where he is from without even knowing each other's names.
As thigh has begun listening to the words of this Traveler he has stated he created on his scroll. This Traveler describes it is a adventurous fright.
As he says he is a storyteller stated the date was1522. The first thing I thought of was my great grandfather 1 that was the secretary to the king of England
At that time my great-grandfather and great-grandmother lived in the castle with the King and queen
In these days I am to old to hold that position that is when he was a younger man.
Then our king ven thinking about voyages across the seas to another land.. Where 250 years later there would as I am told a place called the,
Americans it is also said thatThe Travelers, with the voyagers, with the ships of the king that has been stolen..... The king has sent two ships under different flags with assassins to kill the thieves that hadn't revolted against the king start their own land. Now in these days, they say they call that land the America's.. Now those 1 dignitaries and the officers of the king with the ship men that has stolen his ships. Those men are to be beheaded when they are found in the America's. Those four ships of the king of England no longer to back to England or they will be beheaded from the King.
If the assassins have taken the four ships, then and only then, those four ships will be allowed in the waters of the king
Now thigh, has described to you, To the Traveler, the storyteller of all what I've read to you from scrolls of my great-grandfather. t. Those treacherous times with those many men the original traders of England with their descendants still and always be traitors of England.
Going back 250 year ago to today their descendants, are still enemies and traitors of the king of England.
So Traveler what is,
your name ? The Traveler responded and said to
him ::
They just call me by the name, the Storyteller.
As the storyteller continued to speak, he has said to this English gentleman as they were sitting in a gentlemen's club. As these two men were well-dressed what do Traveler was more well-mannered then the English gentleman. Now with this being noticed from the English gentleman, this particular English gentleman took that quite offensive he says to himself who is this Traveler with well spoken words ? As he is speaking to himself, as the travel is speaking to him, but at this moment he is not paying much attention to what are he is saying.
This Traveler speaks much different than common or gentleman Englishmen.
As the Englishmen interrupts to Traveler he says to him, please let me interrupt you for a moment ?
Traveler may I ask you a question ? The Traveler responds certainly my friend. The Englishmen quickly correct The Traveler,
Oh no Traveler we are not yet friends yet ! So if you would let me get a word to you, specifically,
a question ? Certainly I guess I'm a sa Mister Englishmen. Then his conceitedness jumps up onto the table and he gets (the Englishmen) all up in it to a twist !
How dare you sir to call me the englishman's, then the traveler would respond well mister Englishman you have not told me your name yet ?
The Englishmen responds no I have not yet until you answer my questions ? The Traveler began to say is this an interrogation this conversation ends now !! Then the traveler stands up and then the Englishmen calms his voice and says traveler sit down let me get you a glass of Sherry and we will tone down this conversation... thee Englishmen begins to say,
I apologize for my diplomacy I just speak of my country and myself maybe a little too strongly at times. So if you would could you tell me where you are from ?
Before so let us introduce ourselves instead of continuously
to each other
- The Storyteller
and the
- THE Englishmen ?
Thee Englishman responds, most certainly sir you are correct
to do so :
The the Englishmen says I am
Mister Blackwood .
Mr. Charles Blacwood.
Pooped my pants
The scream?
Yes, I was starting to doze lol
Very, very well written, and excellently read with great atmosphere. Thank you.
And on a side note- besides the great story, the audio effects on this one are really perfectly done! Just loud enough to add to the narrative, with a few louder exceptions of course....which were very effective lol.
Yes!
I took your advice
Excellent tale written in a classic style. Your narration is as compelling as it is enjoyable.
Also, it cured my hiccups!
@@michaelgreaves2375 lol
A chilling tale... though title does give it away. "The Dalston Visitor" maybe?
That is actually a great idea!
I agree, I probably would have suspected it was a ghost until the denouement. Maybe The Dalston Guest after the short story by Mr Stoker? Anyway, great writing Tony and beautifully narrated. 👏
YOU MUST LISTEN
TO THIS
( Alone )
AND
(( in. the ))
(( pitch black of ))
(( DARKNESS ))
then you will jump
as she a Screams
as. I. did
---------------------------
Now, to the narrator and to the person that uploaded this thank you I.
enjoyed the jump out of bed at 4 a.m. see you in the next story
I am cumbrian, we live in a wild and scary land
Yis, aye ;) You'll have to come and see us when we get back to our Eerie Cumbria live events.
Thank you for reading for us ❤
Tony, this was marvelous. I haven't been so freaked since I was a kid! Agree about not having "Vampire" in the title. Terrifying.
Very atmospheric! Thank you.
Fantastic tale
Nice of you to say so
Good job reading! Thank you.
Absolutely adore the historical and linguistic context in this tale, it gives it a real meaty sense of place!
I am very interested in your comment. One of my lost passions is the old Cumbric language.
*Spoiler Alert* do not read this comment until after listening. Lady Dalston's screaming woke up one of my fuzzy cats & scared her. The wind is also howling here as I listen so it fits this story. It's a good story; especially for All Hallows Eve🧛♂️🎃🦇
Old fashioned creepy! I enjoyed very much. Excellent narrator. Thank you for posting
Great story, thanks.
Liked that...spooky...thank you.
I only now realised it's your own story - it's so good, like one of the classics; thank you for sharing it 👍
Scary? (Runs away)
I loved it .
Very very kind
Oh yeah! Now that’s the stuff! I love gothic horror stories, especially vampire stories
Well done.....congrats on bringing back the old horror story.....once again...well done
Oof.. a _leather_ thong?? There would be so much discomfort.
I use leather thongs for necklaces, they're less irritating than chains.
:)
It’s a thong that goes round your neck - not where your thinking 🤨
@@rebeccalane3039 sounds like a good idea.
@@rebeccalane3039Exactly!!
Lmao about this being the other kind of thong thing!!😅
This one got me! HAHA! The first scream made me jump.
Excellent writing and production!
Thank you!!!
Man, the SOUND EFFECTS. The narration! The TENSION. Excellent as always, Mr Walker, this is fantastic!!! That first scream genuinely made me jump.
*evil laugh*
Oh, my! Hahahaa! Very good! Thank you!
That was scary! And very well read!
I really enjoy tales from my home county. The storey was entertaining and well read.Thank you.
ditto, ditto, ditto! Thank you!
So scary, loved this one.
Great chilling descriptions.....more please Tony
Thank you! Will do!
Brilliant

Hmm... no good deed goes unpunished. Saw some pele towers when I walked Hadrian's wall.
Yes they’re still there !
Wow awesome
I really enjoyed this one! An excellent story, well told. I would love to hear more about its creation.
Here's something I wrote about Dalston Hall ages ago www.ghostpod.org/2021/11/02/elementor-17015/
A very fine vampire tale, very much in the classic gothic vein whilst being highly original - exceptionally well written and very effectively read. A tale worthy to join the canon of great English vampire stories.
Do you mind if I use this comment as a review? And thank you :)
Yes, of course.
Please do...You're totally welcome.
I liked the allusions to P-Celtic and Q-Celtic, Mab/Mac, to indicate the ancientness of the revenant.
Excellent. Writing, presentation, everything about this is first class.
Wow, thank you! Much appreciated.
@@ClassicGhost It really is awesome, can't praise it highly enough. I'm currently sitting in front of a fire on the Border between Teesdale and Weardale, listening to the wind howl and feeling the cold - which is much colder for having listened to your atmospheric tale.
God, this channel is fantastic, an absolute gem, yet so underrated that it makes me sad.
I only recently found it, but consider me your fan 🧡💜❤️
And please, keep doing the good job 🙂
I am glad you are a fan. Keep listening. Spread the word!
@@ClassicGhost Of course I will 😊
Thank you so much 🌳🦇
You are so welcome
You must listen to this completely alone
And you must listen to this in the darkest of dark you can get a room.
And the very first time you listen to it you will jump as I did when she screams.
Now to the individual that uploaded this :
Thank you I enjoyed the startle at 4 a.m.
I love horror
And I could never get enough of it
Once again thank you
That was amazing. Such a unique setup and setting. Such wonderful and vividly described details.
Thank you for this.
Recommend LORD DRACULA it’s a excellent radio drama of how the van the in pala becomes Dracula 🧛♂️, it’s up on UA-cam
If you haven't picked up one of Tony's books, you have to do that; great stories!
Great story and narration, but the screams were way too loud. I listen to those stories at any time of day and night and I'm pretty sure my neighbours do not appreciate random loud screams.
Very cool story. Really good setting and atmosphere.
ditto this time around. Masterful! Thank you!
