    You literally said all the suggestions I was thinking of. I really don’t care about the hating opinions about him. He’s a cool ass character that just needs some slight buffs to be taken more serious. I think his 7 soul finisher should have hyper armor as well & just lower its damage to 65 especially since it gets a damage boost from his 1st & 3rd feat, also take into account teammate feats that can boost its damage. 65 is perfect imo. Great character & I really hope the FH team continues this trend of a fresh character, he doesn’t feel like anyone else. I’m also glad he doesn’t have a mid chain bash.

      Yeah I get hit out of the big dmg move mostly by teammates not even enemies.
      Everyone just blindly attacks everything they see without thinking for a second.
      "OMG the Sohei grabbed the enemy lifted it in the air and is about to stab them I NEED to forward dodge heavy now to save them!"
      The enemy gets revenge the enemies teammates arrive and we loose.
      Literally every match in a nutshell lol.

      I think the risk/reward is a crucial part of the move. Putting hyperarmour on it makes it too safe in teamfights. It would honestly be fine if it was no longer buffed by feats so attacks do more damage in general. The thing is you don't want to nerf it's damage so much that nobody would use it over having the T3 proc. That's the main issue with balancing this move.
      Again, in my view, if it were to just lose it's capability to be buffed by anything for a base damage raise of like 2-5 on his regular kit, then he'd be much more usable and well balanced. 95 dmg is not an instant kill if you're near max health, where when it's buffed it's almost always a one shot. Losing that extra damage from buffs immediately makes the move weaker rather than just dropping its base damage which'll be horrible imo for anyone who uses Sohei outside of gamemodes without feats.

    I will say sohei is definitely something that is one of the most unique I've seen. His history is solid and gameplay wise he's pretty cool. The one drawback to him, yeah, he is better in duals. I still like him regardless, and I'm glad the devs took the time to make this hero. Here's hoping we get more heroes like him in the future.

    His 100% heal is absolutely so much better of a use of the souls. The 95 damage is funny, shock factor, and it makes people mad. But having the max health in the game, if you gain your souls organically(in combat) and then you save them while you’re breaking, you can fight, get low, heal up to full, activate 4th get all your souls, get low, heal up to full again. And if you can get them organically the process goes on and on. It’s better than the 95 damage attack

      Yes, but I still don’t want the 95 damage attack to be gone. 75 or 65 are no longer worth the effort and setup. The heal is just better either way, so lowering the damage just makes it more pointless.

    I may not be fond of Sohei, but this video helped me better understand him. Im a returning For Honor player, so Im still relearning old heroes and learning the new ones. Like I said, I may not be fond of him, but he is a good character in my opinion. Its more about how the Sohei I encountered would 4V1 me in Breach or Dominion. And yes, I do find that attack of his frustrating, but thanks to your video, I now know that it is avoidable. Thanks Raven. Your videos do help me out.

    Sohei is the most unique character added to FH in a while. And I love all of the suggestions, especially the unblockable zone and the heavy/light light/heavy chains that he’s missing.

    I love sohei honestly he’s pretty fun. He’s super lackluster in a lot of areas but does have a good feel to him. He just needs a few tweaks to his kit and he will be amazing I feel

    I 100% agree with you Raven. I think he’s fun to play to a certain extent but he really needs some adjustments to make him one of the funnest characters ever.

    I think sohei needs the following:
    His heavies should be like centurion, regular heavy, charged heavy and unblockable heavy. His charged heavy and unblockable heavy should be able to pin opponents and or flowing into soft fient GB. Again like centurion.
    To remedy his one shot kill ability gaining all indicators should be hard yet rewarding to get hence the 1 shot kill ability.
    While his weapons are indicated in white if he’s hit with a heavy attack he loses an indicator. Once he gets all indicators red he has whatever choice he wants to do and does not lose them they are locked in.
    Lastly he needs more hyper armor. He’s a heavy with very little hyper armor. In my book that’s not a heavy. Crushing counters will also help gain indicators.

    Sohei is a divisive character. A lot of people I think don't understand perfectly how he works. With how much backlash he recieved from the posts I have seen, I don't know if it's gonna stop them from making original gimmick characters or not. I hope it doesn't, but it is a scary possibility

    From my recent experience from how Sohei is now:
    Sohei for me is one of the most difficult characters for me to get used to using, one thing I had never imagined is that chain attacks have to either be the same button or a button then zone.
    light + light. Heavy + Heavy.
    You can never alternate lights or heavies ex: light + heavy (not possible)
    This single factor makes this character quite limited in terms of moveset but also puts a higher learning curve, as every move you use as this hero, counts. Even the dev team had foreseen this and added Dodge lights & heavies in order to chain to lights or heavies.
    For me, this feels like some of the older heros in For Honor, where it was quite difficult to get used to other characters, and the idea of a “main” makes more sense. Ex: old conquerer vs. old jourmangander (both super different characters at the time.
    So Sohei is a very unique addition to the game as most other new characters have super easy use and transferable skills.

    the idea of a character having 6 different weapons is so cool i have no idea how they managed to ruin this opportunity to give a character multiple move sets kinda how they did medjay

    Overall, really good take. I do have something to input on this though.

    In my view, if it were to just lose it's capability to be buffed by anything, or deal more damage from debuffs like Fear Itself for a damage raise of like 2-5 on his base kit, then he'd be balanced. 95 dmg is not an instant kill if you're near max health, have damage reduction applied, or have a shield, where when it's buffed it's almost always a one shot regardlessly. Losing that extra damage from buffs immediately makes the move more fair rather than just dropping it's base damage, which'll be horrible for anyone who uses Sohei outside of gamemodes without feats, and it doesn't fix the real issue at play here; which is that the move is too powerful in ganks.
    The idea here is to reward teams for properly setting up a gank, so the move deals full damage and correctly hits the opponent, while punishing applying too much damage reduction onto the opponent, because if the opponent is hit by this attack and survives, they IMMEDIATELY gain full revenge, and aren't pinned iirc either. Nerfing the move will effectively make it like Ocelotl's hunter stance attack; ignored for better options. You cannot forget how powerful having 6 souls on standby for a full heal whenever AND passive damage buffs to all attacks is, and nerfing the damage on it even just to 75 base dmg will make people just opt to never use it over the feats.

    That's the general consensus that I keep seeing around the For Honor community/UA-camrs when it comes to Sohei
    Giving him Light->Heavy & Heavy->Light chains would definitely make him definitely less clunky and restrictive while giving him much better pressure and mix-up potential.
    Though I haven't thought about making his zone attack unblockable before and I agree with you on that

    Sohei right now plays a lot like a grappler in more traditional fighting games. He's big and intimidating and if you don't know how to fight him, he'll pick you up and smash you into the ground but he's pretty easy to take apart as long as you don't panic.
    As for the 7 Point Attack, an interesting thing they could do is let you use it as long as you have at least one soul, but the damage is scaled according.

    I don't think we should change his kid. It's unique and changing. His kid makes it no longer not unique and sometimes a character doesn't just have to be the best. We are complaining about all these. S Tr heroes that they've been releasing. Well, it's OK, that's just one of them, isn't the best in the game?

      I'm not asking for him to be the best or S Tier, but he is objectively an underperforming character right now. I mean Lawbringer's in a similar situation. Even if they aren't S Tier, don't we want them to perform well?

    I would also suggest that his GB gives him 1 light and 1 heavy stock, but he can choose which ones. Reduce the GB to just 2 souls, but Souhei can choose which weapons to use.

    I don’t mean to sound harsh or toxic, but I think some of the problems that need fixed start with the players. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen players willingly go into a 1v2 situation when they know there’s two people on a point and they’re by themselves. Stop trying to antigank. One match comes to mind where a peacekeeper would always go into a 1v2 situation and before anyone could help her, she would immediately die. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen it. For anyone struggling with Sohie, stay with your teammates until you get all souls. Once you do, focus on helping teammates who are getting ganked. You’ll be able to quickly change the tide of battle and that’s his best feature: being able to turn a bad situation into a win. Yes it takes time, but his effects are immediate. And keep in mind you don’t have to use it asap. If you’re ganking with a teammate, you usually don’t need it. Playing Sohei takes a new kind of thinking that I don’t think most players do. Again, I’m not trying to be toxic, but it really is just about being smarter

    I can think of a couple of moves that can make sohei more unpredictable and fun. Idea one, when ever you land the right unblocked you can have the option to trow kinda like gladiator's unblocked. Idea two, sohei's light attack with his scythe can now be changed to be a light unblocked giving it hyper armore and extra dame or you can soft faint in to a guared break. But if you land the light unblocked it will pin and give you the opportunity to use one of his other weapons to get a soul.

    From my time playing him. This is what i felt the problem parts. Outside of the damage that everyone talks about. The heavy is as slow as jj and medjay but he doesn't have hyper armor, so heavies can stop his heavy. And his guard brake has almost no range. And of course he needs something for the anti gank.
    I don't think he is hard to fix at all, he is almost there. The problem is how long it will take to fix him. I hope we dont have to wait a year or so to get any changes.

    The one thing i think Sohei needs after playing him for a while, is he needs a bit of foward movement on his finishers, and the damage? his feats does up his damage, but you can't notice until you get to his 3rd feat on dominion, so insted of nerfing his 1st feat and the damage boost of his 3rd, just change the place of them, the pasive, change it to be his FIRST feat he unlocks, that way he can do a bit more, and his debuff, been on the 3rd slot, would make it more balance with the cooldown and being a 3rd feat for what it does, could be more understandable, more than that, i wouldn't change nothing more of him, he feels totally unique, it feels like when BP dropped for first time, unique, and we haven't getting uniqueness on the heroes since, BP, who bringed something new and cool, his flip, Sohei with his 95 attack is cool as hell, and his kit and feats revolve around it, still needs something more to relay on, not just his unique move.

    I think it would be interesting to make it so he can use his ult with a minimum of one soul but it does less damage and does more damage with the more stacks you have

    I personally would also like some kind of U. I. element added to help keep track of what souls you currently have. I have a hard time remembering which weapons I have souls on personally.

    Double his normal attacks, drop ultimate to 65 as we agree there. Then make his neutral zone unblockable, and keep the chain zone hyper armored but blockable.

    People say that some chars are better off being duel specific but immediately want to push Sohei to get buffed to be more viable in 4s. I hate this bandwagon of hypocrisy. Sohei's position is pretty much on the same boat to Nuxia. Duels is a gamemode that just doesn't keep the consistency of excitement or fills the urge to keep playing long term. Which is where Elim comes in which I personally enjoy the most. But like duels, elimination's mmr doesn't matter because there aren't enough players, duels have become similar because it's not always matching me with someone with my mmr. So, it just annoys me that people will defend long term chars that are centered around duels to remain that way but immediately want new chars to be viable in all aspects of the game. There's hardly a diverse pick of chars in 4s because of the chars that center around duels while also having the lowest pick-rate in the game. I just can't believe players are making this indefensible, it's infuriating. Because if you pick a duels specific char in 4s because you simply just enjoy the char. There's a struggle factor and it could potentially throw the game for your team if you don't know what you're doing. It's just become mentally draining that I know for a fact that the game would become more diverse if there was more choices rather being a part of this predominant meta bandwagon cesspool. And I'm going to call it like it is, most players DO NOT CARE about uniqueness no matter how much they claim they do. Because most of the unique chars in the roster have the lowest pickrate in the game sitting at a single rep or none at all.

      The people that say it's fine for a character to only be good in duels are the same people who want buffs for their favorite heroes so they can be/stay viable in 4v4s.

    He just needs either faster openers or some hyper armor because you get hit out of everything. If you get a parry and follow up with a heavy, the opponent can parry your heavy because of how slow they are.

    I think the best way to make zone unblockable is to make it unblockable raw like raider, and undodgeable in chains but not unblockable.

    I personally don't think he needs light-heavy or heavy-light combo. This hero is completely unique, and giving him more standard chains and damage would ruin the first good thing they've done in a long while. Not to mention the knowledge of him only being able to light or zone after an opener light is needed counterplay. I wouldn't want it to be too easy for him to get all the souls every game. Or at least, if he did have heavy-light, make it so he uses the kamayari (I think) for the alternate finishers, and doesn't build a soul.

    Personally i say buff his third to 50% and reduce the cooldown of his 4th a fair bit and make the big hit 70 with the light heavy and heavy light changes and unblockable zone

    I honestly think they should lean into this "building stacks for an ulimate move" with all characters. But, tie the stacks to the actual combos the characters have. That way, to build full stacks you actually have to learn the full kit of the character and you get rewarded for doing so.
    Tho that may be a wish for "for honor 2" lol

    I love the fact you didn’t even mention his healing feat is otherworldly broken (being able to heal from 1 to 100 with just one press of a button and has a pretty short cooldown as well) meanwhile EVERY single healing feat in the whole game is hardcore nerfed to oblivion

    2:30 I like varangian and warlord tho they're simple but op like I don't really have to do anything to decide the flow of the fight. But with sohei he's just too dependent on getting gb's or else he's just gonna be shit. He doesn't have crushing counters or anything

    Hear me out what if for the one shot he had two tiers of it half charge and full charge, 4 souls allows him to do the move but at reduced damage and then full charge full damage, and then up the heavy damage finisher and all lights by 4. I feel like if he had the option to do a half charged impale it would give him more damage output in shorter amount of time and gives him the chance to put more pressure on

    Ravin we disagreed at first, but I think we came to the same conclusion in the end. The idea was cool, but the excution just wasn't done well and it diden't max it's potiontal. He has one real good move, but the rest of his kit just doesn't cut it. Plus his playstyle does get repedative and boring. I like the suggestions you brought up, I know some are from me directly, but I do like your twist on things. I have chanced my stance on uping the damages I think they should instead up the effects of each of his weapons. More bleed, longer pin, heavyer top heavy that way each weapon would feel more like it does it's own thing. Still think we should be able to switch up the combo like you suggest. If they do those 2 but leave his big move interuptable I think he would be a decent karakter, cause now he doesn't relly on his speciale move, but it does feel extra satisfing when you are able to pull it of. I'm not gona say I told you so, cause I also relised some new things about the hero later on, so he was a little bit better then I relised (from unplayable to e tier, but that’s still a improvement) and I respect the fact that you now come out and admit you now see what I told you from the start. That takes some guts to do especily after how hard you fought me over it. Please don't take this the wrong way I'm trying to be nice. 😅

    sohei is exactly how jorm was when he was released they both didn't have the best kits (aka not op) but had 1 thing be really strong sohei's 1 shot and how they should fix it make it have a timer and only be confirmed on light parry
    i bet what they'll do is they're is to nerf everything other than his 1 shot and then finally after that nerf the 1 shot making him utterly useless
    just like what they did to jorm on release his kit was okay at best BUT his stamina damage was way too much and what they did was nerf everything but his stamina damage making his overall a worst character and then they finally nerfed his stamina and then after that changed how stamina work(which the stamina rework by itself would have fixed him) and by this point he did less way less stamina damage then glad and black pior
    and well now they decide to scorch earth him and make him practically a different character so no one plays him anymore

    I really love sohei but im not learning how to play him well enough he feels too slow to me but im trying to adapt but so far i need to either parry to win and i suck at parrying of poke them to death and pray they don't kill me immediately but ye

    I love the character but I get one of two possible results with playing him; do a barely average perform in matches like 4 toc6 kills or I get totally smashed by any other character in ganks XD they should adjust the damage and that could be practically all they need to do in my opinion

    Trying out sohei, while interesting design wise,
    to me the character feels outdated while also being new.
    We're no stranger to gimmicks for large damage (Jorm, Cent, Shaman, The HUG, etc)
    But the rest of his kit is really quite lacking.
    I wouldn't say the character is good or bad, just mediocre (Not taking account of player skill or feats) with the few changes mentioned they could/would probably be good if not great

    This is the fourth time I’ve tried to make this comment so I’m just gonna make it and be done with it
    Sohei should act as a immovable demon
    Have 3 weapon modes
    Base as he is now or changed
    Heavy soul mode hold light and move back to active in this mode reduce damage taken boost healing
    Light soul mode hold heavy and move back to active in is mode you move faster you can’t block normally but you have reactive guard yes I would bring that back in some way
    When in light soul stance you can deflect attacks to hit them with a finisher to gain souls for all your weapons
    Only fills the souls of the weapons on the same side
    So left hit will fill both left weapons and all deflect attacks will act like pins
    In soul stance you can consume souls to boost an attack if it doesn’t land the soul will heal you for 16 points of damage over 10 seconds
    In heavy soul stance that would be 26 points of damage over 8 seconds
    Change as you see fit
    Base mode has the passive defense boost of heavy soul stance and the move boost of light soul stance
    And if you pick to hold the line at a point for most of the game you will slowly build up a soul garden making that place on the map weaken enemies and heal teammates
    This is a passive and will be weakened if you die you will revive at the garden but it will lose souls to bring you back and the revival will weaken with every death
    Meaning at revive 2 you will only get half health and one set of weapons souls
    At death 3 the garden will revive you and lose the last of the souls
    To make the garden you need to land the killing blow on 3 heroes on the same point assist don’t count to the garden
    When the garden is at max power banners will mark the point and it will heal teammates even if the enemies are on the cap but it be reduced by 70% so you can be killed
    So long as Sohei guards that point the garden will protect teammates
    Adding a respawn point on the map
    Also to finish this up because this has gotten way too long and is really cool, but I’ll never happen
    Or maybe it will I don’t know
    When in the standard stance
    All feats have different variations of actions
    For example,
    If you use the 1st feet while in heavy soul stance a player on your team can link souls with you
    Doing this when you are working together will make the damage they would have taken that would’ve been fatal. Be removed from them and put onto you.
    Only works with 15 m up to 25
    Feat number four with a soul link will pull the linked teammates back to the soul garden if you have no link it will pull a teammate when they are hit with a fatal blow and link them to you

    60dmg is still alot. People do relize that aft you get hit with at least 4-5 lights or even a heavy or two 60dmg is gonna kill you instantly. So wile it will be a nerf to his big move it wont dimish the effectiveness of that move if anything it will make him actually scary. Because ill be honest Nuxia scares me far more than sohei because at least with nuxia i know if she starts to light spam then more times than not im screwed

      60 damage is not worth the effort nor is it worth the setup. It’s gonna make the players abuse the guardbreak more ’cause hitting them normally is not viable.

    normal dmg + 95 attack???? thats broken. the tickle dmg he does is paired with that move. Increasing his overall dmg means you need to nerf the nuke and suddenly, you no longer have a unique character

    He is way too slow for how little damage his attacks other than impaler put out. He needs some hyper armor or GB invulnerable states to make it not feel like you're playing the worlds clunkiest character

    I'm not the only one who thought Sohei needed light to heavy or heavy to light combo. Everything you suggest 100% agree with. I do think he need hyper armor when he does his heavy start up it very slow. The other thing is having the 3rd feat to a 1st feat. Gives him more omph. These are my suggestion.

      100% agree. The only thing I don’t agree with is buffing his base damage and nerfing his special’s damage. If you do that, we will no longer have an incentive to use it, as it’s not decisive, and going through that much effort only to do a simple high damage move and not remove anyone from the fight, just makes it even more useless in ganks.

    I hope Sohei gets fixed soon, just unlocked him recently and he feels extremely hard to use. He feels like a worse version of Lawbringer but has a one shot move he relies on too much.

    Honestly keep him where he’s at if you nerf the damage on the soul attack it’ll be pointless to get the souls other than just a full heal they finally made a character that’s not op and not broken but if we nerf him he will be terrible and underwhelming but if we buff it will break him and make him way to oppressive so let’s just keep him here

    He's design is amazing and he can be fun to play but he definitely could use a buff either give his grab hyper armor or buff his light to do 10 damage and his heavies 14 I don't exactly remember how much they do rn. This year so far though for For Honor has been pretty good with it's balancing even if it's slow.
    I just realised we have very similar ideas to buff him but not to the point he should be over powered

    Imo he is the coolest hero in the game, right up there with Law Dad. But he sucks. The one hit gimic is nesh at best and does not call for no options slow neutral heavies and absolute zero, ZERO, anti gank. I think as he is, he is absolute worst pick in game and needs to be looked at again to fix him.

      I don't know which stream you're talking about specifically, but what I'll say is this: If you honestly decide that I'm not knowledable or that you can't watch me anymore just because you disagree with my stance on matters of politics or my opinion on the Palestinian/Israeli conflict, then that says far more about you than it does me. But here...let me show you what I'm knowledgeable on:
      I'm aware of the things Israel has done wrong, as I am aware of the wrongs done by Palestine. I have issues with both parties, but in this particular conflict, where Palestine attacked on October 7th, 2023. In the unprovocated attack, they killed:
      695 Israeli civilians (including 38 children)
      71 Foreigner Nationals visiting the country
      and
      373 security forces.
      Though Hamas claims that this attack was in response to Iraeli occupation of Palestinian territories along the Gaza strip, as well as illegal Israeli settlements, over 44 countries have deemed the actions as unprovocated terrorism.
      Now, how you feel about Israel is your own business. I'm not saying they're guiltless. But who drew first blood in this conflict? Who committed the atrocity first? Who attacked innocent people and took 250 Israeli citizens hostage? In my opinion, such an act should always be met with punishment.
      Now, dislike me if you wish. Hate me if that makes you feel better. But if you think I don't know the facts about this atrocity, not only are you wrong, you're deluded.
      Now do what you want with that information.

    This character is abysmal he does no dmg his mad monk move you have to press rb and rt at the same time two times to do the move he is clunky and incredible slow his only purpose is to do his execution and half the time you cant do that because people know how to get out of a grab whats the point of this character i want my money back!!!!

      I say just make him able to do heavy into light, then light into heavy, +make his zone unblockable. I don’t want his base damage buffed and the special nerfed, ’cause that way, his special loses its point, and something like 65 or 75 is not worth the effort and setup.

    Thing about sohei is that his heavies are absolutely worthless. No reason to use heavies at all on him, no hyper armor on the slowest heavies EVER. Only light + zone + grab for heavy souls tbh.
