Only major thing I like more in the original is the sound track

Same. The original game had better soundtrack, in my opinion. I think every level in the game actually. But what I really like in Afterbirth is the sound when you enter the treasure room.
the reason i like it is because it is easy enough for ME to play... and the mom sounds in original fucked with me, they were too scary
Me too. I'm used to the Rebirth songs by now, but I miss the old ones so much. They fitted better in my opinion.
I think the main reason of this might be nostalgia

yeah, chest gives 4 power-ups. dark room gives 2 troll bombs, 4 spiders and a soul heart.

Art-wise, Classic Issac is best. They hand drawn art style makes it feel like Issac's drawings come to life. And the classic music, super memorable compared to Rebirth. Game-wise, Rebirth tops.
I personally can't choose between the art styles. I actually prefer Rebirths look (I love pixel graphics), but Classic has so much charm that was lost when going to pixel (and making a lot of enemies and items look almost too symmetrical at times).

I've played both extensively and I'll say this about the difficulty:
The reason the original seems a lot harder is because Edmund was less experienced at making full games. The game is in Flash, and on top of tat not as well programmed. Because of this, what works perfectly well in Rebirth is completely jank in the original.
That being said, the game IS a bit easier, if only for the synergies.
Also Guppy is less common now because of the bloated Devil Deal pool, not more common.

there is a new dlc in the original the binding of issac called "ETERNAL EDITION" it is so fucking hard! you must have the WOTL dlc for playing it.

I don't understand why people say there's no point in getting red hearts, soul and black hearts are much harder to find.
+Get Rekt Scrub Right, but if you have a lot of red hearts and no backup of soul/black hearts you have a smaller chance of geting devil deals if you take damage :(
+Get Rekt Scrub You can acess devil deals with the joker card too! and remember having tons of red hearts allows you to take free damage in blood donation machines, devil begars, curse rooms and profit from items wich activate when you take damage like the piggy bank, the nun habit or the lusty blood (or is it bloody lust?)

This video was really interesting and enjoying. This is what I was aiming to do in my one video, but definitely fell short compared to yours. Both Binding of Isaacs were a lot of fun despite me being atrocious at the game lolz. But I always kinda liked Rebirth more because it has a smoother learning curve than the original. Much easier to get into the game without being pushed away by many deaths with no progress.

Is there something you would like to say about afterbirth/afterbirth+?
I've thought about doing a follow up...but I didn't care for Afterbirth that much, and I havent even gotten + yet...so idk lol

Repentance and afterbirth definitely fixed most of the problems rebirth had. It truly is a much better game than the original now.

Zi Raw yea, it's bizarre to think how long people will play this game. I'm at 450 hours in rebirth an have seen people on steam with thousands of hours.
Northernlion has ~1000 original episodes, ~40 Community Remix mod episodes, ~1000 Rebirth episodes, ~600 Afterbirth episodes, ~40 Antibirth episodes, ~40 Afterbirth+ episodes.
Every episode is an average of... let's say 25 minutes long. 25,000 + 1,000 + 25,000 + 15,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 = 68,000 minutes = ~1130 hours = ~27 raw days. Now that's something.
PixelAxe: Inverted Edition, haha, I'd bum up that average episode length by at least 10 minutes. most of his runs are in the 30-45 minute range, in fact, I'm prety sure if an ep is less than 20 minutes by the end of a run due to a death, he'll do another one. so the only time you'll see 25 minutes on an episode is if he was super over powered an won really quickly, or died so many times that he gave up.

Hey thank you :) So Afterbirth is cool, it adds a lot of new stuff, but I prefer the base Rebirth. Definitely check it out if you get a chance tho
The balance is, what makes Rebirth such a let down. In "Isaac 1" the beginning of the game was easy and every floor got harder and harder and you hoped to find good enough items to keep up with the difficulty curve. In Rebirth its the opposite (at least most of the time): You can get way to fast way to strong, so every floor becomes easier and easier. In "Isaac 1" the Chest was a big final challenge. In Rebirth, when you reach the Chest you feel like you allready beaten the run and this floor is just bonus mission just for fun, where you can oneshot most of the enemies with you op-build you got until then.
If you're constantly having that experience then you probably aren't good enough to not do that. Personally, over half the runs that beat game aren't superpowerful or anything. Most of the time I end up with a 10 damage Capped Tears run with maybe a weak poison effect and 3 familiars. Then again, I don't die to War and I rarely get hit by It Lives!
Yeah its a problem now. IMO Rebirth was mostly fine at launch, but the DLC have really pushed it more in that direction.
@@imaginaryboy2000 Such dps melts through any boss. In original, you could get to final floors with basically default damage, which would result in a lot of "fun" in EE.

I would like to say that one change you didn't mention was that a lot of the items in the original binding of isaac item pool BECAME Trinkets in Rebirth.
This means that a lot of the completely passive/near nonexistant item helps like the worms from the original isaac became trinkets meaning there was a lot more room to add items that did a lot more to your stats or more spacebar items. This is one of the main reasons stronger character builds are easier to come by in Isaac Rebirth.
I think the original TBOI game is much more "creepy" and athmospheric. I really miss the old music. It was much more better.

I know this is a four year old video, but you should at least check out the original again seeing as how it got a hard mode too. As someone who completely beat them both with everything, the original is now insanely harder.

Repentance in March will change everything!!! I'm so damn hyped for this it looks so damn good all the new enemies and synergies will be amazing to have nearly a complete new game is so dope.

Yeah, becoming Guppy in the original requires you to be as lucky as a millionare. You will barely find any Guppy items.
Rebirth is 100% better.
And afterbirth is 1001% better. ;)

That is good news! Although I avoid mods, unfortunately. I also don't plan on buying Rebirth. I've played enough binding of Issac to not need another game of just more of the same.

+enekocuesta Haven't played any Civ, but I LOVED Terraria, well worth it (but I would also recommend Rebirth a million times more than the original...so those two in my opinion :P)
I know it's too late now but I played the heck out of the original BoI and have now played a lot of Rebirth and getting Rebirth makes a lot more sense. It's basically a much improved version of the first game, not to say that the first one was bad in anyway. It just had a few performance issues. It would lag, crash (rarely though) and the frame rate was quite bad.
Rebirth adds so much more content. New items, new enemies, new bosses and new characters. The game has hardly any performance issues and can run incredibly smoothly. It's basically a whole new game as far as I'm concerned. The new music... I prefer the older version but it still kicks ass and the graphics are absolutely brilliant. The original game's graphics were quite flat and dull, Rebirth is just... Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
If you've already bought the first BoI then please, buy Rebirth as soon as you can afford to. I just bought it on PS4 and PS Vita even though I already own it on PC... It's just THAT good.

Classic gets me in terms of artstyle and music,rebirth aint bad but it doesn't feel as special as classic does.In terms of gameplay,i like how limited the great items were and how there is a bigger ratio of crappy items,or items you would pick if you only knew how to use them,on rebirth you can pick whatever and just survive till a good combination comes in.

Azazel can pretty much beat entire game with out picking a single item. That says something. For a character who can 2-3 shot kill Monstro with base stats - this is INSANELY OVERPOWERED
in that sense, any character can. even so, I whas never able to 1 shot any boss with base stats.and if you dont pick up a single item, its litterally impossible, becuase he only has black hearts and a close range attack that may or may not be too weak for eng dame bosses
Pascl I beat the Boss Rush with Azzazel skipping all items and only picking health. His Brimstone do lots of damage to destroy any boss even with base stats. Only against end bosses who have big portion of health able to survive his Brimstone for long enough to be a serious threat to Azzazel.
Would you able to do that with any other characters? NO of course!
Then Afterbirth, Afterbirth Plus, the 5 booster packs, and Repentance came out and now the game has more content then most AAA games.

In the original game Devil Deals were your only option if you wanted to be strong. You couldn't rely on treasure rooms or items from the boss pool.
You could say, the skill floor was lowered but the skill ceiling was raised in Rebirth.
Something to point put is that there are only 4 op items in the original game, being them Brimstone, Mom's Knife, Dr Fetus and Epic Fetus, but now you have Sacred Heart, Godhead, Ludo, etc.

i bought the original thinking wawi this is gonna be another dungeon run game, i picked up dungeon run games when i was introduced to undertale and now they seem way more fun to play. Now however i definitely will buy the binding of isaac rebirth after playing just for a couple hours, genuinely speaking this game is so damn fun i can't let go of it now. i actually thank you for all the clarification in this video, looks like i'm adding dungeon run games into one of my fav genres
If you turn off the filter, the pixels get more water-like/rounder, but I wouldn't say it turns down the quality.
Wonder if you will make an update video when Afterbirth and the free Wrath of the Lamb update come out. The pros for the binding of isaac original is the music, (at least for me) the art style, and the fact that you can't hoard trinkets/cards/pills. Just wondering if someone can answer this, is the tick droppable in rebirth?
That's a good idea, I probably will when Afterbirth comes out. There are pros for the original, but I like how accessible the new game is. You cannot drop the Tick in Rebirth, but that's not as big a deal now since the Polaroid and the Negative aren't trinkets anymore, they're just items to pick up

I didn't even know devil rooms spawned when you don't get damaged, I thought it was random lol.
I really wish they'd let you toggle the original music in the menu, that's about the only thing I much prefer from the original. Not that the music is bad in TBOIR, but the original was just so good..
I remeber i was looking at some TBoI videos and i told myself "OMG must have 11/10" then TBoI:Rebirth came out and thats why i started playing Isaac :))
