Same! Breaks my heart too, most of the games are now very expensive especially since all the digital versions on the eShop are gone now. Megamix was only digital in the US so unless if you emulate or import a European/Japanese copy, that game is lost forever.
Donkey Kong should be getting a 2D and 3D game each generation. It's a real shame that the series has been so neglected recently, but I do have a strong feeling they're building up towards something, they wouldn't be building a theme park for a franchise that they have no plans for.
Dude I said the same without seeing your comment lol🥲 The worst part about Golden Sun is, that the last game ended on a massive cliffhanger...and it was supposed to have a sequel no doubt. But it didn't sell properly. Well now the market changed and JRPGs are big again. I would try it if I was Nintendo. Maybe let monolith soft and Camelot do this together. But this is just a dream.
@@nindieboy4194thing is, they have other RPG series they’re going to push before touching golden sun. I hate to say it, but I’m not hopeful for a release any time soon.
I don't know if it is in the video or not, but I've been playing the original Chibi-Robo game and its a very delightful but intense video game, since you have to strategically not run out of power while bringing happiness to a family. Since they are bringing back Gamecube games to the Switch, they should put this game as well at some point.
The GameCube original and the clean sweep on the ds are some of my favorite games period. This series is absolutely delightful, I really hope it gets put on the switch sooner rather than later.
Yup, I watched the whole video waiting for it to appear - that would be my number one choice by far, even if it was just a remaster. It’s such a lovely little game.
One very overlooked game that I wished got the Kid Icarus Uprising treatment: The Mysterious Murasame Castle. Could you imagine if that was rebooted to have rouge-like elements each time you go to a different castle in a different playthrough? Not to mention, we could get Takamaru playable again, and get more attention. Nintendo hasn't completely forgotten him; after all, his first game was ported to the 3DS Eshop, and appeared as an assist twice in Smash.
@@PossiblyCoolAnimations Trust me, I know. I wanted him playable as a retro pick. And it's Smash 4 and Melee when he was rejected, not Ultimate. Having a new game, however, would give him a new audience to introduce him to.
Regarding Punch Out, it would've been cool to see Little Mac as DLC in ARMS when it was launched early in the Switch lifecycle for added interest in the Punch Out series, aside from him also being in Smash.
I know this won't happen. But I like to see Peach as an special opponent in the new Punch Out consideeing someone wanted Peach to be in Punch Out Wii; but didn't, and just so we can laugh on how dumb it is.
@amadeus.7436 On one hand, DK is an perfect choice and I understand why they change it. On the other hand, it's an video game. Anything can happen and I would've loved seeing Peach getting punch or how she fights. She was pretty powerful in Smash Bros.
@jaretco6423 To even considered peace in a boxing game whit men is asinine. I don't care what she does in smash bros, smash don't take itself seriously she not a tomboy that the other mario princess.
@INFERNO95 Just because Peach isn't an tomboy like Daisy is, doesn't mean she can't do anything. And is isn't just Smash. Peach plays alot of sport like most Mario characters does. Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Soccer. Basketball, Olympics, etc. So why can't she also compete in boxing too?
9:45 Level 5? I think you meant to say someone else lol. Back on topic, I plan to pick up Another Code Recollection when it comes out in January. Mainly because I find the gameplay and story/mystery intriguing, but also partially because I want to support smaller IPs being revived. I bought Advance Wars day 1 because I love those games, but I also picked up Clubhouse Games for the casual multiplayer potential, and Famicom Detective Club for the deep cut legacy.
The saddest one for me is Rhythm Heaven. Those games are magical, and the series deserves so much better. It's almost entirely overlooked, even in Smash Bros.
I'd love to see a new Mysterious Murasame Castle game. I'm aware there was a mode in Samurai Warriors 3 that served as a sort of remake/reimagining of the original, but I'd like to see a NEW game in that series. Even if it's just an eShop title.
Thank you for mentioning Star Tropics. Even if not a 3-D new entry, I could see them doing a really well done 2D sprite based sequel. Maybe Way forward could co- develop. Something very fun and special about that game and it's theme, setting, and aesthetics.
With both Hotel Dusk and Punch-Out!!, it might be too late for a new one on Switch. However, there might still be time for a port to happen. Hotel Dusk: Room 215 being a game where the DS is heled sideways makes it that much easier to translate to a single screen system. As for Punch-Out!!, this Wii title is easily adapted to Switch through the use of Joy-Con. The real question here is, would they include Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! from Wii Ware?
Hearing you talk about Custom Robo, makes me think you either haven't played Custom Robo, or you haven't played Armoured Core, or you haven't played either, but the customisation is where the similarities stop. Custom Robo is like LBX for the 3DS
Star Fox! How can you not make an incredible Star Fox game? It would be so easy now with what you can do in video games. The other big one is an actual new 3D Metroid
I'm not denying there's a lot of possibilities... the question is where to go. Star Fox as a rail shooter doesn't quite justify a full retail price. You need to add more to that framework, or shift the framework to something that has spaceship battles but more to offer.
13:30 that's quite literally already the plot lmao Robo Battles take place in "Holoseums" which are digital alt. realities. Heck, the robo's commanders' consciousness even transfers to their robos during battles.
Thank you for putting Donkey Kong on this list, it's been rough, DK and sometimes Diddy make appearances in various Mario spin-offs, but it's frustrating not having a DK specific adventure on the Switch. I'd take it a step further and suggest that DK could have an island hopping, seafaring, swashbuckling adventure, the series has so much potential that just isn't being explored at all right now.
In order: 7 years since SECOND REMAKE OF THE SAME GAME IN A ROW (Seriously, Nintendo, I get you guys generally don't care about storytelling/continuity, but how did you not realize how bad an idea that was?), 17 Years since last new game. 15 years since last game. 8 years since last game. 13 years since last game, only one game released in the US. 14 years since last game. 12 years since last game. 17 years since last game. 29 years since last game. (But, also: StarTropics, as a franchise, was basically doomed to die. As a North America exclusive franchise, none of the internal young blood at the core company were going to push their superiors for it, the way they might be for any of these others. And any rumblings of NOA execs pushing for anything other than porting would probably get laughed off as a waste of time.) 11 years since last game. 9 years since last game.
Seriously…. there’s nothing that makes it comparable it to Flight Simulator… and the notion that Flight Simulator has no challenges is ALSO incorrect lol
I wonder if there is anyone else within Nintendo who is even a fan of Kid Icarus, the only reason that KI was chosen in the first place is because Iwata wanted Sakurai to make something different for the then new Nintendo 3DS after his work on Brawl, and Sakurai after taking in Iwata's requests and other various factors had decided to make this new game be a "shooting game with air battles and land battles" as well as revive a stalled Nintendo IP. I feel if we do get a new KI game it is going to be even more different than what we had in the past.
How Nintendo hasn't commissioned Koei Tecmo to make a new Mysterious Murasame Castle or HAL to remake EarthBound yet is beyond me. Both feel like they could be announced at any time.
Coming from the Wii U where we were starved for games to a lot of non nintendo fans It was "That tablet thing that plays smash and mario kart" look at the switch, a library that consists of an amazing 3D mario, 2D marios, open world pokemon, open world zelda, a 3D kirby two metroid games, the entire pikmin series, animal crossing and a new f-zero Nintendo has never been healthier, we even got a mario movie and not only are main series like zelda and mario getting multiple entries we are also seeing old series get new games after metroid and f-zero I would not at all doubt a new mother/earthbound game hell, they even give some love to mario vs donkey kong on switch
Every Nintendo direct, I pray that we’ll finally get a Kid Icarus Uprising remaster. The Switch 100% both deserves and needs it, since it’s beautiful visuals would look way better when not stuck on a 3DS screen, its controls would work way better with two joysticks, it would actually get the sales it deserves, *and* I’d actually get to play the amazing Light Vs. Dark multiplayer with real humans again. Even the creator of the game himself wants it, so it’s just a matter of time, Nintendo. A new DK game would be a very close second though, considering it’s been nearly a decade since Tropical Freeze. Though at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was saved for the next console.
I want to make sure they make a new Advance Wars. I know Reboot Camp didn’t sell incredibly well but it is an AMAZING game. A new Advance Wars is my most wanted game.
- Pushmo - Dillon - Steel Diver - Ever Oasis - Fossil Fighters - Jam with the Band - The Legendary Starfy - Endless Ocean - Rhythm Heaven. - Golden Sun - Chibi Robo - Wave Race - Nintendogs - The Dempa Men Just to name a few you missed.
Man, I loved hearing all the updated ideas for the old series. It just goes to show that these classic franchises still have plenty of life in them. Come on Nintendo, make it happen!
I’m pretty much in agreement for every series mentioned in this video, they should all get new installments! Some of them I would even just like to get remakes or Nintendo Switch ports of, even. Still, Derrick mentioned there were other series he didn’t mention in this video that he was forgetting, so in light of that, here are some other Nintendo series I’d like to see new games on the Switch: Golden Sun - This one is probabaly the biggest omission in this video, Golden Sun has a MASSIVE following, there was a HUGE push to get Isaac playable in Smash Bros., and biggest of all, the las game in the series, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, ended on a cliffhanger, so there really does need to be a fourth game! Camelot seems to be stuck making Mario sports games, but I really wish Nintendo would just greenlight a new Golden Sun already. The demand is there, and we all want to see where the story goes from here. Chibi-Robo! - Zip Lash seems to have been the final mail in the coffin for this little guy, since it was said that if the game didn’t do well, there would be no more Chibi-Robo! games, and the game was a flop. Not to mention, Chibi-Robo!’s developer, Skip Ltd., might be defunct now, though there hasn’t been an official confirmation. Still, this series just oozes charm, and the first game is a legit quirky classic. I would ESPECIALLY love to see a Pikmin/Chibi-Robo! crossover! Make it happen, Nintendo! The Legendary Starfy - These games are really fun and cute! It’s a shame we only got the fifth game released in the West, especially that game is very much geared towards kids. This series gets surprisingly dark, especially with the third installment. In fact, just do a Starfy trilogy collection on Nintendo Switch; I was always kind of annoyed that the Western release of the fifth game tried to retcon those games out of existence. I get they did that because they didn’t release the other games in the West, but it still felt clumsy and awkward (the whole localization felt a bit weird at times, it’s hard to describe). Starfy needs love, he deserves to be more than just a punching back in Smash Bros. Dillon games - Dillon’s Rolling Western and Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers were not only fun games, they had cool characters and, especially in the case of the third game, fascinating world-building! I would love to see a new game, but unfortunately, Vanpool, the developer of the Dillon games, shut down earlier this year, so I don’t know who would make them. I would even be fine with ports of all three games, since now they’re trapped behind the now shut down 3DS eShop. I want people to be able to see how neat these games can be. Mario & Luigi - Speaking of game series with shut down developers, I love the Mario & Luigi series and don’t want to see it die. At the same time, I’m not sure how I’d feel about getting a new installment without the original people involved. Part of what made Mario & Luigi appealing is the distinct charm AlphaDream put into the series humor, character designs, and animations (that’s why Paper Jam was such a miss for me, being as homogenized as Paper Mario: Sticker Star did not to the series any favors). It’s similar to my thoughts on the EarthBound/MOTHER series; I don’t want a new game in that series unless Shigesato Itoi is involved, since so much of that series’ appeal is due to how he writes his games and characters. However, he said he was done with the series after MOTHER 3 and won’t make another one, and I completely respect that. But it’s not like we got something similar to that with the people from AlphaDream, they would probably love to make more Mario & Luigi games if they didn’t got bankrupt. Hopefully there’s still a future for this series, someway and somehow… Panel de Pon/Puzzle League - These are fun puzzle games, and if Nintendo can keep finding reasons to make new Dr. Mario games, surely they can find ways to continue this series. The last new “game” was in 2016 with “Animal Crossing: Puzzle League”, and that was just a mini-game within Animal Crossing: New Leaf! It’s time for a comeback for this series! …And if possible, I’d like to see them go back to the original game’s setting and looks, I think Lip and her friends are cute and deserve some love, too. Excite series - This is a weird series, since it also includes Excite Truck and Excitebots as well. I think there’s a lot of fun to be had with pulling off sick tricks while racing; that’s probably why Mark Kart incorporated it into their games (and why there’s an Excitebike track in Mario Kart 8). The last game was from 2010 on WiiWare, so yeah, we’re overdue for a new installment here! Wrecking Crew - Specifically the first one; no disrespect to Wrecking Crew ‘98 (other that Spike’s redesign in that game, really don’t like what they did to him there), but I think there’s potential in the set-up had for the original NES game. It’d be no different then how the set up levels in the Mario v. Donkey Kong series; Mario (and/or Luigi) have to destroy buildings in order to progress, and maybe Spike could be the main bad guy or something. I legitimately do see potential here and I’d like to see Nintendo do more with it. Other than those, there are non-series one-off Nintendo games I’d like to see sequels to like Ice Climber, Mach Rider, The Mysterious Murasame Castle, Stunt Race FX, Mole Mania, and Nintendo Land. I would also like to see another ARMS game, but that’s already on the Switch (maybe the next console?)
I got my fingers crossed for a Hotel Dusk room 215 and its sequel Last Window remake. Also if they could do something with Elite Beat Agents and or Osu Tatakae Ouendan that would be awesome.
I wasn't expecting to see Another Code again since Cing went bankrupt, and in those cases the rights can be all over the place. If somebody has got them sorted, then the door is surely open for the rest?
Honestly, even with the Nintendo series that HAVE made it to Switch, there's some baffling omissions. Switch era is nearly over, and Xenoblade Chronicles X is STILL stuck on Wii U.
What a great video and list of missing Nintendo series. I need to see something Star Fox soon and Kid Ikarus. I v'e been working on ignored Nintendo franchises on my channel and its fun to look back at the games that started and where they stopped :(
Surprising how many people continue to bring up Kid Icarus as if it was ever a particularly iconic or prolific Nintendo when it's literally only 3 games: the NES OG, the Gameboy game that never came to Japan and a complete reboot of the series 20 years later which on itself is already more than a decade old without any follow ups, it's just not going to happen (where there even any Kid Icarus fans prior to Uprising?)
It's called kissing the feet of Masahiro Sakurai, honestly. At least partially, I know Uprising has a lot of qualities but when people say "I love the Kid Icarus series" they usually mean "I love Kid Icarus Uprising and it's tumblr ladden dialogue"
@@AREAlhero More like "fandom driven" than anything intentionally derogatory. Trhow a stone and you'll find dozens if not hundreds of fanmade Paluetena's Guidance entries in there.
Mario vs Donkey Kong _is_ a Donkey Kong games, it’s so weird to experience gate keeping from one generation after your own. Mario vs Donkey Kong _couldn’t_ come out fast enough for me.
As someone who enjoyed "Star Fox Zero" I think it would have made a better impression as a Switch launch title. Not just because of the timing of being one of the last Wii U games but the new type gameplay they were trying to implement I think would have come across better as a showcase for split Joy-Cons instead of the Wii U Gamepad. I was thinking the same thing: they've re-made "Star Fox 1" a few times already why not re-make "Star Fox 2"? Miyamoto commented a few years ago he still wants to work on "Star Fox". If the rumors are true that the next Nintendo system will implement VR I wouldn't be surprised if they're saving "Star Fox" for that.
I think Nintendo wanted Star Fox to become more of a multi -media figure during the release of Star Fox Zero. They even made that cartoon that just ended abruptly after the first episode. When Zero didn't meet sales projections, they dropped the idea and Star Fox went back into side projects instead of its main series.
@@bigduke5902 I think you misunderstood. I meant I think "Star Fox Zero" would've been more successful as a Switch launch title instead of a late-cycle Wii U game. "Breath of the Wild" and "Mario Kart 8" were already popular on Switch anyway so it's not an issue.
Id love a resurgence of Nintendos sci fi and extreme sports games. F zero, Star Fox, Custom Robo, Xenoblade X ,etc along with 1080, Wave Race, Excitebike.
No mention of Sin and Punishment, darn. Oh well, maybe there's still hope for a 3rd entry... or even a remastered collection of the first 2... or even some ports? pleeeaaassse?
I still like the idea I came up with of a new Starfox game where you start out like any other Starfox game. Go through the galaxy (expanded more than N64) and do missions as the 4 StarFox team members. Get new gear for your ships and such. Each planet can have an assortment of jobs you can do that open up alternate paths as you track down the big bad evil guy (BBEG) and once you go confront them, you get stopped by Starwolf (Wolf, Leon, Panther and Andrew in this iteration.) which leads to the classic 4v4 fight and when you win you go chase after the villain and after a bit of a fight, he escapes. Leaves a bitter feeling but it cuts right to the main menu and you see "Story 2 has been unlocked under New Game" and you go in and check that out. Now you're playing StarWolf. You got an assortment of missions as well in the galaxy. Just like with Fox, go through levels, pick up missions to go down alternate paths, get to the end where you're chasing after your target. You arrive at pursuing the villain with Wolf after they evaded Fox and once more, they are able to evade you as Wolf. "True Story Unlocked" on the menu once more. Now you get a cutscene of both teams arriving after being evaded by their target they both were in pursuit of without knowing it. They decide to team up but require some better gear. You do some missions now as all 8 and gather some more OP gear. Pick your team for each level and watch unique banter happen. Want to play Slippy with Peppy, Andrew and Panther? Hear Peppy compliment Panther's flying and Andrew's tune change in his thoughts of Peppy and Slippy. Want to hear Fox, Falco, Wolf and Leon work together and have a mix of being at one another's throats and admitting they're actually really good pilots? Got that too. Get the better gear and once you get a minimum level of gear on your ships, you go to the final level. Multiple phases of chasing down the villain, taking alternate paths to join one group or another, have banter between everyone. And by the end, who you choose and who you have in 2nd on your team going into this mission (Despite having all 8) will be the only two able to get through to the BBEG at the end allowing for one very tough yet rewarding boss fight. But guess what? Who you choose as your character at the end gives a set of photos of what they did after you won as a reward. Try doing the final fight with all 8 to get the full picture of where they all stand going into the next Starfox game. Gotta get that completionist reward for people who want something fun like that.
Hello, it's me, Custom Robo's adament following! Thanks for highlighting this criminally under rated series. (By the way, friendly reminder to everyone you can play both the original and V2 on the switch right now with the Online expansion pass and a japanese account. I HIGHLY reccomend them though maybe look into Battle Revolution or Arena first if it's your first time diving in)
You know what's REALLY interesting (to me)? People have asked about what the Switch 2's gimmick might be, and it's been discussed that it could be a very basic version of VR. If so, several of the franchises mentioned would make for interesting VR experiences. Pilotwings, Kid Icarus, Punch out, Hotel Dusk, and even a simulated tabletop Custom Robo would all work with both standard and VR modes.
They or even Good-Feel would be great teams to work in a Earthbound remake with clay models for the characters. It would be even better if that game also acted as a remake for Earthbound Beginnings as well.
Most of the reasons involved with “Why don’t we have THIS iP?!” Has to do with having a dev studio to work on it. For example: Starfy. Tose is still around but if they’d rather be a port support studio rather than make a game that will no sell very well, why would they make a new Starfy? Same with Golden sun and Camelot. Maybe they just like the paycheck that comes with Mario Sports games more than making Golden Sun? Idk just speculation. Switch is still the best console from Nintendo with the most diverse IP representation.
Because Tropical Freeze refined the 2D approach so well, as well as the very cinematic transitions during the levels, I'd say it's time to give 3D DK another shot. Even if it takes the 3D World/Wario World brawler approach, I'd say we're well due for a new attempt at translating the crew to that perspective.
@@mds_main The way each game continues to build up when it comes to incorporating the .5 in 2.5D, I'd say a 3D entry would bring that to a fitting conclusion.
Honestly I think I would have preferred if we got a new DKC game over a new 2D Mario game since Tropical Freeze was such a masterpiece and that game made me realize how much better the 2D DK games are compared to the 2D Mario games.
two franchises I'd love to see return are Ice Climbers and Mario & Luigi I've always thought it would be pretty cool to see an Ice Climbers reboot á la Kid Icarus, my two ideas are turning it into a roguelike series or a 2 player co-op game similar to the likes of It Takes Two Mario & Luigi returning is probably a pipedream but it'd be nice to at least get ports, if they were to make a new game then my guess would be to have 4 playable characters like in Partners in Time but the 2 extra characters are either Wario & Waluigi or Peach & Daisy (the princesses have been getting a ton of spotlight recently so I'd say they're more likely)
I've always envisioned an Ice Climber reboot to be kinda a cross between Pikmin & Captain Toad. Several mountains to explore, different equipment to buy/find in order to collect different items, almost metroidvania-style progression. It's unlikely but I think it would draw in a good amount of interest
@@BurstSigil I've always envisioned an Ice Climbers reboot as a bit of Captain Toad with Puzzles and Platforming. It would be an excellent idea to have co-op in the game.
@@fernando98322 Platinum only build upon a project Nintendo had shelved for a time, we want a new one without Miyamoto forcing motion controls on them.
I 100% agree with Wario Land (Shake It!! was my favourite game on the Wii) and Pilot Wings. The game franchise that I think you missed is Chibi Robo. The Game Cube game is fantastic and it is the kind of game that the Switch audience would love. So my 3 missing franchises are 1. Wario Land, 2. Chibi Robo and 3. Pilot Wings.
Have you heard of Fossil Fighters, Derrick? It gets some flak for being similar to Pokémon, but the Nintendo DS Games, the OG "Fossil Fighters" and "Champions" were the best of the franchise with their own gameplay identities, though the series seemed to have derailed somewhat with the 3DS Entry, "Frontier". Regardless, I REALLY Hope Nintendo gives the series another chance, with gameplay similar to "Champions" in particular. Make it Happen, Nintendo! :)
There is one Game and its sequel that was born in the NES era and never have had a return in any other console, Startropics, and no, NSO doesn't count.
More overlooked games and franchises deserving a Switch port or sequel: Zack & Wiki. This one is up to Capcom, but it's baffling that they haven't already given us either an HD port (thanks to the joycon, controls would be easy to emulate), or a sequel (the title structure "Quest for [blank]'s Treasure" is infinitely reusable). Or both! Eternal Darkness. Nintendo has all of the trademarks, and Silicon Knights is no more, so just hand this to Retro or someone like that. Current hardware could give us so many new Sanity effects. Dead pixels if you play in handheld mode. Controllers or Joycon with connectivity problems or an empty battery. Pretending to open the eshop and buy a single $99 DLC costume. The possibilities are endless! Battle of Olympus. The original owed a lot to Zelda II. But a new game could satisfy the demand for a traditional Zelda game now that Link seems to be stuck in the Breath of the Wild paradigm. Another Kirby or Metroid (or Sonic) Pinball. Or maybe all in one. Plus tables themed after Revenge of the Gator, or a Pokémon table where you are shooting Pokéballs. Polarium. An underrated DS launch title, this puzzle game would obviously work with the Switch's touchscreen, but the plethora of Picross games on Switch have shown that docked mode would probably work just as well. And last but not least: Kabuki Quantum Fighter. The all but forgotten NES title was made by HAL, and the unique mix of traditional Japanese iconography and a TRON-like setting has been overdue for a comeback since the SNES. Make this a full on Metroidvania that uses the setting to its full advantage. And release the original for NSO for everyone curious about the franchise.
Punchout: Not Level 5, it's Next Level Games. The one I want is Golden Sun. I am sick and tired of Mario Sports games preventing it from happening x_x. Also, do not force pointer mode for Kid Icarus. We have two sticks. Let me use them.
I just want a NEW Star Fox game more than anything. I'd be perfectly if we at least got GameCube games on NSO and I could play Adventures/Assault again from there.
I totally agree about Star Fox. It definitely needs a new storyline and mission structure that could take inspiration from Rogue Squadron, other flight simulators, and to a lesser extent Armored Core perhaps. Nailing level design would be key. For Donkey Kong, if Retro Studios is busy with Metroid Prime titles, then I wouldn't mind if Nintendo EPD Tokyo was handling the series for a while.
Not sure if the series ever did this style of gameplay, but would star fox benefit from being a tactics game? I feel like that would fit well in the franchise
If you count Star Fox 2 and Assault, yeah, and they worked really well. But, I want you to imagine the reaction from the fandumb when a Star Fox Tactics game gets announced in the next Direct instead of the same exact game they've played four times already.
@@Masked_Mastermind I honestly think it’s just nostalgia, I have fond memories with NSMB series plus the staleness of the series never really hit like it did with others. Don’t get me wrong the 2D DK games slap but there’s just something about Mario I like a little more
Agree with all the franchises you mentioned here. They all need a comeback! Whether that's a full big budget Triple AAA game or a budget title. They are all still fun and need more recognition. I'd personally love to see the Game and Watch series make a comeback. I have the Game and Watch Galleries on GB/GBC and the one on GBA and they're all fantastic. Just simple addictive fun with a lot of charm. Not all the G&W games are winners, but there's something for everyone and Mr Game and Watch himself is very charming in a simple way. That and Golden Sun! The sun needs to rise once again! I've only played the GBA titles and own the DS entry. But it's a great 2D turn based RPG and we don't get a lot of those from the big companies! The story and characters are great too. Either give the trilogy a HD2D makeover or port the games and make a new entry. Just do something!
I want Ice Climbers! I loved the aesthetic of Ice Ice Outpost in MK8D, and I’d love to see their frantic movements from Smash expanded into some sort of MMO Adventure game.
As much as I really wanted to see a DKC game on the switch (in my dreams it's just called Donkey Kong Country 6 and feels like a distilled amalgamation of all previous DKC games), after seeing some of SMB Wonder, I don't see that happening. Back in the SNES era, we got Mario and Donkey Kong games at the same time, but they were really just two different flavors of the same genre. It made sense at the time because there just weren't as many people making games back then. The two series felt different, but the game design was more or less the same. You jump on enemies to kill them, occasionally pick up barrels/shells to throw (with the same controls even), and try to get to the end of the level. Fast forward a bit and we had the New Super Mario Bros series and Donkey Kong Country Returns/Tropical Freeze coexisting... and while mario is mario and that's always fun, the DK games were just better and more memorable. With the new direction they're taking SMB with Wonder, it feels like they are putting all of their 2D platforming eggs into the Mario basket (understandable), and if we see another Donkey Kong game, I think it will need to serve up a new type of gameplay.
A new 2D Zelda would be nice. Remakes not included, it’s been a decade since A Link Between Worlds, and since it’s partially a remake, it’s been even longer since a completely original one.
Hotel Dusk would be cool, but I'd also really like to see Episode II of Chase: Cold Case Investigations. It was a really solid game, but it just abruptly ends on a cliffhanger, which really stinks. I'm guessing the game didn't sell well, since the next part never came out and I don't see many people talking about it.
Agree with both Starfox and Custom Robo, and there's another series I want to see: Golden Sun! Whether an HD 2D style RPG or something a little more adventurous, I want to return to the world of Weyard that the old trilogy of games created.
For Star Fix: maybe a middle ground would be a remake of Star Fox 2. As for Donkey Kong, they’re extending Super Nintendo World in Osaka with a DK area in 2024, so yeah… a new game is way overdue!
10.) Well, we have Star Fox 2, but that's not really the same thing as a truly "new" Star Fox. The series is kind of in a weird place, since Star Fox Command, the last truly "new" installment in the series, had multiple endings, and every other Star Fox since then was either a re-release or a remake of Star Fox 64 (which itself was a remake of the first SNES Star Fox). There's a big looming question of where the series can go from here, and whether or not Nintendo will actually care about that and instead focus on some dumb, awkward, unintuitive control scheme for it like they did with Star Fox Zero. I really do hope SOMEONE at Nintendo cares enough to make a new Star Fox game... maybe do an alternate timeline sequel to Star Fox 2? That would be interesting. 9.) YES, oh my God, YES! PLEASE give us a new Wario Land, Nintendo! I love WarioWare as much as the next guy, but as a huge fan of Wario, I can't help but feel like something about his personality was lost in focusing exclusively on on that series. I was actually watching someone play Wario Land 4 for the first time recently, and they were surprised at what a badass he was, since up until that point they only knew Wario as "that greedy guy from Mario who farts", and it's that misconception of Wario that Nintendo constantly pushes that REALLY ticks me off. Yes, Wario is a crude goofball, but boiling him down to a one-note fart joke does his character a massive disservice. Plus, the Wario Land games are just fun all around, fun enough to inspire new games like Pizza Tower and ANTONBLAST, although they mostly take from Wario Land 4 more than any other installment in the series. Heck, even if it was a Wario World remake or sequel, or maybe a better version of Wario: Master of Disguise, I'd be happy, just don't let this aspect of Wario die, please! 8.) Rhythm Heaven, what a beautifully fun series. From the first time I played it on Wii with Rhythm Heaven Fever, i instantly fell in love with this series. Like, it really nails how satisfying it is to press buttons to the beat of a song, and in particular with the newer games, they're really good at making it so that you have to go along with the beat, rather than try and brute forcing it with what's going on on-screen (in fact, some mini-games can practically be played with your eyes closed). The minigames are silly fun, too! The series seemed to get its last hurrah with Rhythm Heaven Megamix, a kind of "best of" collection of mini-games from previous Rhythm Heaven games, with some new ones thrown in, but since that was an eShop exclusive in North America, people can't actually get that game anymore (again, in NA). Even if it was just a re-release of that game on Switch, I'd be happy, but I just love the series so much that I don't want to see it go away forever... 7.) I never played Hotel Dusk: Room 215, or it's sequel Last Window: The Secret of Cape West, but like Another Code, it's definitely something I'd like to check out, if given the opportunity. Cing, the company that made the games, may have gone under, but perhaps they can get whoever's making the Another Code: Recollection remakes to also do the same for Hotel Dusk/Last Window? That'd be nice. 6.) Punch-Out!! for the Wii is one of my favorite games ever. It's just a lot of fun, and the characters have such funny, memorable personalities (even if they are mostly ethnic and national stereotype caricatures). The Punch-Out!! series has even more characters from that came from, plus they can make entirely new characters with goofy personalities. I know Next Level Games (NOT Level 5, sorry Derrick) wanted to include the Bruiser Brothers from Super Punch-Out!! on the SNES but didn't have the disc space to pull that off, so I know they're game for more. It's just a matter of Nintendo giving them the greenlight to do more. Not sure how well some of the portrayals of some of these characters will fly these days, though... 5.) Pilotwings is fascinating, I've never played any of the games (though the SNES and N64 games are on NSO so maybe I should check them out?), but they made a third game as a launch title for Nintendo 3DS, so I guess Nintendo is still interested in this series? Then again, that was back in 2011, so who knows if the interest is even still there anymore. I DO know that I love the character designs of Pilotwings 64 (one of them, Lark, even being based on Nintendo Power mascot Nester), plus the Pilotwings stage in Smash Bros. is cool. In a way, Pilotwings reminds me of F-Zero in that from what I can tell, the SNES installment feels rather bare-bones compared to the N64 sequel; the only difference between the two series is that F-Zero got a GameCube game that everyone loves and Pilotwings didn't. Maybe if it did, there would be people clamoring for a sequel to that too... 4.) The future of Custom Robo seems grim, since last I heard from it, Nintendo didn't even bother to renew the trademark on the name "Custom Robo" like their other classic titles. It really sucks, since while I've never played a Custom Robo game, the concept seems really fun, kind of a 3D for-player fighter. The robot designs are cool, too, and there's potential for more of them. Again, even compared to other obscure Nintendo series, Custom Robo seems the most unlikely to get a comeback given the whole trademark thing, but I would still love to see it. 3.) StarTropics has a bit of a cult following, and props to its fans for keeping the flames of the series alive since the NES days. By March of next year, it will be 30 years with no new installment in the series, yet there's a Twitter/X account literally counting the days since the last new StarTropics game, so clearly there's a dedicated following. I've also see a lot of people pushing for Mike Jones in Smash Bros., which I think would be cool. There's definitely some fun stuff to be had with a series like this, basically The Legend of Zelda but in modern-ish times. I feel a new game is unlikely, though, if only because the StarTropics games were only release in North America, so I doubt anyone at Nintendo cares at this point, they seem a lot more Japan-focused with their games and they have been for a good while now. Maybe if a North American developer were to pitch it to them, like Nintendo Software Technology or Next Level Games, I could see it happening, but for now, rather unlikely, unfortunately. 2.) It kind of sucks that Kid Icarus got it's big comeback with Kid Icarus Uprosing, but now it's, once again, on a lengthy hiatus. Now, I'm one of those people who doesn't think Masahiro Sakurai needs to get involved in a new Kid Icarus game; after all, it's not like he created the series. That said, I understand why people want him to make a new one, given that Uprising is probably a lot of people's first experience with Kid Icarus (even though it's basically nothing like the first two games) and Sakurai did put a lot of his own personal flair in that game. Regardless, it IS disappointing that Nintendo didn't really seize this opportunity to make Kid Icarus one of it's new major mainstays after Uprising. At the very least, I hope they can somehow think of a way to port the game, just so people have a chance to play it for themselves (and maybe give it a chance, seeing as the awkward control scheme turned off a lot of people into not giving it a chance). 1.) It's cool that we have Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Nintendo Switch... but that was a game from 2014. Donkey Kong is one of those weird properties that Nintendo has, in that it's REALLY popular and a lot of people love Donkey Kong, but Nintendo doesn't really capitalize on it all that much. I think it's rather telling that the mostly Western-made Super Mario Bros. Movie featured Donkey Kong and the characters associated with him quite heavily, to the point where Shigeru Miyamoto was all like "Whoa, Donkey Kong in a Mario movie? That's kind of weird, I always saw them as separate series, but then again, they DO take place in the same world, so it actually makes sense." Nintendo is REALLY sleeping on Donkey Kong and the potential of that series. It kind of sucks that Retro Studios can't pump out games the way Rare used to, not to mention they're focused entirely on Metroid Prime 4 at the moment. There really needs to be someone else who can handle these kinds of games, because let me tell you, the way people lit up when they heard there was going to be a Donkey Kong-related announcement soon was MASSIVE (only to be deflated when it turned out it was for Mario vs. Donkey Kong). The people are hungry for new Donkey Kong, but will Nintendo finally deliver it to us one of these days?
Star fox, wario land, rhythm heaven, hotel dusk, punchout, pilot wings, custom robo, star tropics, kid ikarus, donkey kong. Golden sun, and fzero def. Need some new games too!!
Custom Robo's robots should remain real and not digital for as silly as it may seem a repeating plot point of the series is that these robots are seriously freaking dangerous outside their safety confines. They can effortlessly kill people and can do far worse with illegal parts. Hell the gamecube custom robo has you chasing around a unbound, seemingly alive, rouge robo for much of the game after it killed someone in a restaurant i think.
After Star Fox Command Star Fox kinda needed a reboot. After playing Star Fox 2 on the Nintendo Switch SNES Emulator, I think that could be an interesting idea for a new game. I already liked the strategy implementation in Star Fox Command, I think a new Starfox Game that has this strategy aspect as well as the ground combat from Assault would be really cool. You could still have routes like the N64 games and have planets and their surroundings be a strategy level, or be crazy and make it an intergalactic war, with every galaxy having one big map with several planets, similar on how the Map in Star Fox 2 looks.
ONE reboot. They needed ONE reboot. We, effectively, got TWO IN A ROW! I don't know HOW MUCH better this would have turned out, but imagine: 2011: Star Fox 64 3D comes out. Late 2011, for WiiU, they greenlight someone to do a Star Fox Adventures remake. Comes out mid-late 2015. Wouldn't "save the WiiU", but probably does a bit better than Zero critically and commercially. Ported to Switch in a combined release with 64 3D in Late 2017-Early 2018. Star Fox Assault Remake announced for Late 2022.
Honestly the only reason it needs a reboot at all is the multiple endings of Command, where most of them kinda end the story for good. They should have just gone with the happy Fox and Krystal get a son ending and have the next game be a soft Reboot, playing their son with Falco being the new Peppy. Zero being on the WiiU was also a huge kick in the face. Rebooting a franchise on a failing console and then wondering why it didn't work out is something only Nintendo is able to do.
I'm genuinely surprised that there hasn't been a new Rhythm Heaven game on the Switch by now
Same! Breaks my heart too, most of the games are now very expensive especially since all the digital versions on the eShop are gone now. Megamix was only digital in the US so unless if you emulate or import a European/Japanese copy, that game is lost forever.
I would have some patience, it’s historically a very late release for Nintendo consoles
The series is dead, and Nintendo killed it
@ethanchang8342 no one bought the games outside of the ds one, you guys killed it lmao
@@rohanrodrigues7115 don’t blame me for this, I bought every North American release way back in 2016
Donkey Kong should be getting a 2D and 3D game each generation. It's a real shame that the series has been so neglected recently, but I do have a strong feeling they're building up towards something, they wouldn't be building a theme park for a franchise that they have no plans for.
*_I KNOW..._* right...?! We *_*NEED*_* a brand new Donkey Kong video game - like yesterday!!
No Golden Sun on this list is criminal, it’s even starting to be forgotten on forgotten franchise lists 😭
It'll run on the Mario Tennis Aces/Golf Super Rush engine if it happens.
Nintendo don't make golden sun games.
Camelot and Nintendo both need to work something out and make a new game.
I don't know if it is in the video or not, but I've been playing the original Chibi-Robo game and its a very delightful but intense video game, since you have to strategically not run out of power while bringing happiness to a family. Since they are bringing back Gamecube games to the Switch, they should put this game as well at some point.
One of the follow ups on DS, Park Patrol, is a great time.
I was just holding my chibi robo disc about an hour ago. Such a wonderful game and character
I second this. Even if it's just a straight remastered port with a skip dialogue and cutscenes option added in.
Apparently he was supposed to be playable in smash ultimate, but the idea was shot down because hes not as recognisable

Was not expecting Custom Robo to get mentioned!
What I would give to have another entry like the GameCube version!
He meant Next Level Games, which I believe was acquired by Nintendo a couple years ago.
Don’t Hotel Dusk and Another Code take place in the same universe? If Another Code sells well, I bet we’ll get some more Hotel Dusk too.
I was just talking about that earlier.
@@erickmaverick3128 It says there that the only game that Minoru Maeda worked on other than Murasame Castle is Ocarina of Time.
Thank you for mentioning Star Tropics. Even if not a 3-D new entry, I could see them doing a really well done 2D sprite based sequel. Maybe Way forward could co- develop. Something very fun and special about that game and it's theme, setting, and aesthetics.
Would be great if Star Fox Assault was brought back a la Prime Remastered and with added online for the multiplayer
Other Nintendo franchises that are still forgotten are Starfy and Fossil Fighters
@@roskiart8750 The good news is that arcade shooters are still a thing in indie games.
Please Nintendo, give us Golden Sun!
Nintendo don't make golden sun games.
13:30 that's quite literally already the plot lmao
Robo Battles take place in "Holoseums" which are digital alt.
The world needs more DK.

You really has 0 clues what Pilotwings is about lol
Seriously…. there’s nothing that makes it comparable it to Flight Simulator… and the notion that Flight Simulator has no challenges is ALSO incorrect lol
Wrecking Crew and Ice Climbers, Kid Icarus in the same way as the classic one
I wonder if there is anyone else within Nintendo who is even a fan of Kid Icarus, the only reason that KI was chosen in the first place is because Iwata wanted Sakurai to make something different for the then new Nintendo 3DS after his work on Brawl, and Sakurai after taking in Iwata's requests and other various factors had decided to make this new game be a "shooting game with air battles and land battles" as well as revive a stalled Nintendo IP. I feel if we do get a new KI game it is going to be even more different than what we had in the past.
I’m happy people are mentioning golden sun.
It may be cruel self-harm, but I’m happy.
How Nintendo hasn't commissioned Koei Tecmo to make a new Mysterious Murasame Castle or HAL to remake EarthBound yet is beyond me. Both feel like they could be announced at any time.
a From Software Murasame Castle could be cool. Nintendo really needs more Souls-like games on the console.
I just made a comment similar to this! Didn't think I was the only one! 😆
Coming from the Wii U where we were starved for games
to a lot of non nintendo fans It was "That tablet thing that plays smash and mario kart"
look at the switch, a library that consists of an amazing 3D mario, 2D marios, open world pokemon, open world zelda, a 3D kirby
two metroid games, the entire pikmin series, animal crossing
and a new f-zero
Nintendo has never been healthier, we even got a mario movie
and not only are main series like zelda and mario getting multiple entries we are also seeing old series get new games
after metroid and f-zero I would not at all doubt a new mother/earthbound game
hell, they even give some love to mario vs donkey kong on switch
Kinds agree.. WHERES DK'S NEWEST ADVENTURE.. ITS BEEN ALMOST 10 YEARS
Every Nintendo direct, I pray that we’ll finally get a Kid Icarus Uprising remaster.

Still, Derrick mentioned there were other series he didn’t mention in this video that he was forgetting, so in light of that, here are some other Nintendo series I’d like to see new games on the Switch:
Golden Sun - This one is probabaly the biggest omission in this video, Golden Sun has a MASSIVE following, there was a HUGE push to get Isaac playable in Smash Bros., and biggest of all, the las game in the series, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, ended on a cliffhanger, so there really does need to be a fourth game!
Hopefully there’s still a future for this series, someway and somehow…
Panel de Pon/Puzzle League - These are fun puzzle games, and if Nintendo can keep finding reasons to make new Dr.
Still surprised they haven't ported Windwaker and Twilight Princess HD, those titles could literally print money.
Xenoblade X can be remade or remastered on the next system.
@@lol-ih1tl Xenoblade X, deserves to be forgotten now that we have Xenoblade 3.

Uprising is so good.

Nothing says brand new console unlike the last one no one bought quite like a port immediately at launch.
@@samueleinhorn6713 Miyamoto confirmed that Zero was made with the Wii U game pad controls.
@@orangeslash1667 it was but I'm saying those same controls and concepts could work just as well, if not better, with split Joy-Con controls
Id love a resurgence of Nintendos sci fi and extreme sports games. F zero, Star Fox, Custom Robo, Xenoblade X ,etc along with 1080, Wave Race, Excitebike.
Eternal Darkness! An hd remaster of new game would be amazing!
I totally agree about Star Tropics.
And absolutely about Kid Icarus.
Owlboy and Darkwater Slime invader are similar to Kid Icarus.
Hello, it's me, Custom Robo's adament following! Thanks for highlighting this criminally under rated series. (By the way, friendly reminder to everyone you can play both the original and V2 on the switch right now with the Online expansion pass and a japanese account. I HIGHLY reccomend them though maybe look into Battle Revolution or Arena first if it's your first time diving in)
I still need an english physical for famicom detective club. If I want to play it without internet, it is a near $400 game
Imagine a Metroid Prime VR. It writes itself.
I still want Grezzo to do an Earthbound remake. Theyd kill it.
They or even Good-Feel would be great teams to work in a Earthbound remake with clay models for the characters. It would be even better if that game also acted as a remake for Earthbound Beginnings as well.
@@ivanzoneBR24 I recommend Eastward, It's based on Earthbound.
it would be great to have at least mother 3 payable in europe...
Level 5? For punch-out Wii? Did you mean Next Level Games?
Because Tropical Freeze refined the 2D approach so well, as well as the very cinematic transitions during the levels, I'd say it's time to give 3D DK another shot. Even if it takes the 3D World/Wario World brawler approach, I'd say we're well due for a new attempt at translating the crew to that perspective.
I'd like to see them complete the new 2D trilogy first to be honest.
@@mds_main The way each game continues to build up when it comes to incorporating the .5 in 2.5D, I'd say a 3D entry would bring that to a fitting conclusion.
@@SonofMrPeanut I recommend Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair, for a DK successor.
Honestly I think I would have preferred if we got a new DKC game over a new 2D Mario game since Tropical Freeze was such a masterpiece and that game made me realize how much better the 2D DK games are compared to the 2D Mario games.
two franchises I'd love to see return are Ice Climbers and Mario & Luigi
I've always thought it would be pretty cool to see an Ice Climbers reboot á la Kid Icarus, my two ideas are turning it into a roguelike series or a 2 player co-op game similar to the likes of It Takes Two
Mario & Luigi returning is probably a pipedream but it'd be nice to at least get ports, if they were to make a new game then my guess would be to have 4 playable characters like in Partners in Time but the 2 extra characters are either Wario & Waluigi or Peach & Daisy (the princesses have been getting a ton of spotlight recently so I'd say they're more likely)
Ice Climbers would be nice as a 2D Platformer ala Kirby or Donkey Kong.
Have platnum games make starfox. Imagine the crazy battles they can come up with
They already did StarFox Zero
Just let the Ubisoft team that made Starlink make a new Starfox game.
@@fernando98322 Platinum only build upon a project Nintendo had shelved for a time, we want a new one without Miyamoto forcing motion controls on them.
Yes. Make starfox more hectic like bayonetta series
@@simonchai3040 I recommend Asbreed, ex zodiac and Fur squadron, as Starfox successors.
If the characters don't get out of the ship, I'll never play Star Fox. Playing in a ship the whole time isn't it.
They should port Captain Rainbow over 😊
I feel deep in my bones a warioland game with COop would result in nabit and toad being the other characters walugi will never get the spotlight
Wario Land. =(
Kid Icarus and Star Fox would be sweet.
Tomodachi Life too.
Good to hear Famicom Detective did well.
More overlooked games and franchises deserving a Switch port or sequel:
Zack & Wiki.
Miyamoto sadly dislikes Stories in games.

Technically there is a Star Fox game on Switch, it’s called Starlink and Ubisoft made it lol
Punch out Wii is not made by Level-5. It's Next Level Games.
time for a Mach Rider revival.
Mach Rider 99
I want Ice Climbers! I loved the aesthetic of Ice Ice Outpost in MK8D, and I’d love to see their frantic movements from Smash expanded into some sort of MMO Adventure game.
Oh man the Holosseum is already supposed to be digital so a Custom Robo with the robos fully in cyberspace would actually work
As much as I really wanted to see a DKC game on the switch (in my dreams it's just called Donkey Kong Country 6 and feels like a distilled amalgamation of all previous DKC games), after seeing some of SMB Wonder, I don't see that happening.
Yes to all of them actually. I'd also love some love for things like The Mysterious Murasame Castle or Pandora's Tower or Eternal Darkness.
New punchout with perhaps crossover characters from capcom, namco etc
A Super Wario Bros game where they go on a garlic and construction equipment fueled adventure would be fun and cool.
That are not bros and Wario games are not selling.
Based Derrick with the Tropical Freeze music
Custom Robo in Armored Core direction? You mean Virtual-On? Sega should totally bring it back.
Rhythm Heaven Megamix truly is the absolute peak of that series imo. I don’t know how you could make it better.
Derrick looks happy 😊
Theres a great Punch Out successor called Thunder Ray thats out on all platforms. Its super bloody with a hand drawn artstyle
I don't believe Nintendo is going to spend the time, energy, money, etc. to create the next No Man's Sky with Star Fox.
I don't know HOW MUCH better this would have turned out, but imagine:
2011: Star Fox 64 3D comes out.
I was about to type in “Custom Robo” right before you mentioned it lol.
It might be nostalgia but I loved that game on GC.
Star Tropics and/or a remake for Marvelous: Another Treasure Island would kick butts
