- Charges have been dropped against a man who spent two weeks in jail after Hertz filed a police report saying his rental car had been stolen despite credit card charges showing otherwise. Charles Doucette was one of hundreds of customers who Hertz acknowledged were wrongfully arrested.

I’ll never rent a car from Hertz ever again. The way they handled these arrests is despicable. They haven’t even publicly apologized for it.

How and the world would the cops arrest you when there is a receipt for the car. I would also sue the police, the could easily let you go until the problem is fixed.
America is one crazy dysfunctional place. He spent 2 weeks in jail waiting where they can confirm his rental within an hour. Just boggles my mind. The money he lost due to loss of work, his reputation, his dignity...I mean in america....these authorities do not think of these things. America don't work or function with these in mind.

@@TheThugNasty lol.... Yeah maybe it's because we keep removing their leaders and installing puppets. And majority of those migrants were a political attack. See how the United States set the Middle East on fire and cause so much migration and United States did not want to take not even one of them. So these migrants were done on purpose. You have to think. And don't be self-centered by listening to these people and personality shows and politicians. People migrate and cross borders all over the world in every country every day. So people are migrating everywhere every day and it's not just the United States.

This has been happening for years. I would NEVER rent a car from Hertz. Or any car company for that matter. Never do it. It’s not just him I’ve heard so many stories that I’ve lost count. Ppl spent months in jail. I’m sure someone has been shot and killed by a cop bc of this… seriously I guarantee it.

FYI , In the last 5 years Hertz has reported 15,286 cars stolen that was NOT stolen. That is 9 a day.

I know this a year old but hertz just ruined this man’s life and he needs to sue for billions make them pay they have a computer system to check their files to see where they’re car is
And charges dropped does not expunge the record. Anybody who does a background check will see these people have been arrested for car theft. For some professions, like teacher for example, the record will prevent them from getting jobs in the future.
This is how Hertz rolled. They recently told me my car "had a faint smell of marijuana" when I dont smoke weed. They charged me $400. These people are horrible people from the CEO, down to the douchebags at the counter. Their customer service is lackluster at best. Why this guy is not filing a counter claim is odd. In Tucson they had a phone system that didnt work for a month, & the dude that "smelled marijuana" was wearing a freakin MASK!!! WTF??? I hope they go out of business,
