As of 2020 June, the navigation options for driving on the road will operate through your phone with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. With Apple CarPlay you have the choice of Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze. For Android Auto, you have the choice of Google Maps, and Waze. To my knowledge, for off road this will be limited to Google Maps from either platform. There may be additional off road navigation apps available through CarPlay or Android Auto. However, I'm not aware of them. GPS data will be available from the in-dash receiver. Mapping data will be provided through the phone. When you are out of cell phone data range, the map may not be very useful. Hi will this work in a 2009 acura tsx with navigation, also my mate in Europe wants to import one to England and wants to know is there any issues with this model working in European cars
Your Acura TSX 2009 will require custom work to replace the in-dash receiver. I recommend taking it to an Authorized Pioneer Dealer for help with installation. For you friend in Europe, there are several things to consider before buying. 1. The FM radio is designed for the US with odd numbers behind the decimal. For example 102.5, 102.7. This may not work in parts of Europe. 2. As of 2020 June, Amazon Alexa works in the US only. Other areas may be added at some point in the future. 3. I'm sure those two things will not work correctly. There may be other issues with Apple CarPlay wireless and Android Auto Wireless in parts of Europe for this product. I thought this unit was suppose to have google miracast built into it? I wonder how it will compare to the ilx-f411 alpine halo 11 inch unit. I preordered this from soniceletronix in February and I am still waiting on it.
As of 2020 June, the Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX does not support miracast. The screen's diagonal measurement is 11.25 inches. As of 2020 June it's available from many retailers in the US. This isn't just a yes or no answer, there's a little more to it than that. Please take a moment to read the full answer. I hope you'll find it of some interest. The short answer about the Bluetooth CODEC's is no. As of 2020 June, Pioneer receivers don't support aptxHD or LDAC. However, the Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX and four more Pioneer receivers have access to the internet through a Wi-Fi hot spot. With a Wi-Fi connection to your phone and to the internet, you may not need to worry about CODEC's made to help Bluetooth sound better.
When using Apple CarPlay wireless or Android Auto wireless, your connection from the phone to the in-dash receiver is Wi-Fi, and the Wi-Fi Audio source becomes available on the in-dash receiver. When using the Wi-Fi Audio source, Bluetooth is not necessary and better quality audio files can be played by the receiver. When streaming audio from a source, for example Spotify, you can choose to have high quality files delivered to the phone and connected by Wi-Fi to the receiver. No need for Bluetooth Audio or the CODEC's needed to make Bluetooth audio sound better. Just to be clear, Bluetooth Audio is still available as an audio source on the receiver. Though you may not want to use it.
In addition, the Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX gives you access to the internet through a Wi-Fi hotspot, and depending upon the music service, you may be able to play music directly from the music service site through the receiver.
The Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX, and four other Pioneer 2020 NEX receivers, will playback lossless Hi-Res Audio files stored on a USB storage device in the following formats:
WAV - maximum resolution of 24-bit/192kHz , FLAC - maximum resolution of 24-bit/192kHz , DSD - both 64: 2.8mHz and DSD128: 5.6MhZ
When you first insert a USB flash drive with music, HD movies, and still images, the receiver's music player will ask you to create a database. When you agree, the system will scan all of the files on the USB drive, and use the embedded information in each file to create a searchable database of Artists, Albums, Songs, and Genre. You can then search all of the music stored on the drive by those categories. During playback, if the file carries this information, you'll see Album Art, Artist, Album, and Song title on screen along with the current music format, mp3, wma, flac, aac, wav, dsd and the current bit rate and quantization rate. You can see a similar Pioneer receiver set up a simple database in this video. I have a DMH-WT8600NEX and am having issues with it. I have updated it to the most recent firmware. Where can I get support for this? Everytime I start my truck is tries to do an update or something and asks me to connect " a USB mass storage device with audio update file". Also I use Apple Carplay and everytime I start my truck up I have to disconnect my phone in the connection settings and reconnect it or else it won't play music. With these 2 problems it takes me up to 5 minutes sometimes to get it setup and ready to play music every time I start my truck, I have to wait for the usb mass storage message thing to play which also causes a little pop up that doesn't go away until the message is over. And I also can't go into connection settings while driving so I have to wait parked until I go through this whole process. It's quite frustrating.
Please supply some additional information. What is the vehicle? Make, model, and year? Please reply with the exact message as it appears on the receiver screen. Does the message appear shortly after starting the vehicle, or when you change sources, or is there some other type of trigger for this event? Are you using a "flush mount" or other type of USB connection to the back of the receiver? Or are you using the USB extension cable that was packaged with the receiver? Are you using Maestro RR or Metra Axxess in this installation? For Apple CarPlay, are you using a wired connection? Or a wireless connection? What is the phone? What version of iOS?

I bought an extremely high dollar AVH-P7500DVD 5.1 Surround sound system with navigation when it was the flagship. Pioneer discontinued the navigation map updates and that pretty much renders the navigation useless after several years of use. Has Pioneer changed their policy to guarantee map updates for at least 10 years?

Pioneer in-dash receivers have a built-in amplifier that's designed to operate up to 4 speakers in your vehicle. In many installations this is 2 speakers in the front and 2 speakers in the rear of the vehicle. Bridging the in-dash receiver's amplifier is not recommended. If you would like some additional power, I recommend an external amplifier. The DMH-WT8600NEX has 3 pairs of RCA outputs for operating external amplifiers. The RCA outputs can be setup as Front/Rear/Subwoofer output, or as High/Mid/Low output. Pioneer external amplifiers can be bridged for additional power and installation flexibility. I like this idea cause I can possible install into a classic car/truck that would require the display to mount in the down position from the 1din unit. But If I want to be able to have a separate or incorporated dvd drive to play movies, MP3, cd's, etc. what are my options??
You have many options. The Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX can play movies, mp3 music, and still images from a USB flash drive. If you want to play discs, you can use the HDMI connector on the main chassis for connection to a separate disc player. I bought this headunit about a year ago and noticed it making like a whining sound almost like a cd spinning inside of it and cant figure out what it could be. Any idea?
It's possible there is a ground issue with the wiring. I recommend to check the wiring connections in particular the power and ground to be sure they are good clean condition. In the past year, if you have added any additional products to your system like an amplifier or signal processor, these could also be introducing engine noise into your system.

Can u use my vehicles factory microphone or do I have to use that cheesy clip on one?
It may be possible to use your factory Bluetooth microphone, however it depends upon your vehicle and if it is supported by Maestro RR OEM integration unit. In order to use the factory microphone you'll need to use the iDatalink Maestro RR2. If your vehicle isn't supported, you can always use the microphone included with the DMH-WT8600NEX. It's typically installed on the vehicle headliner near the rear view mirror or in another location where it can "hear" you speaking in a normal voice.

Nearly every Pioneer in-dash receiver with a video screen since 2014 has played MP4 videos. Many of those same receivers have used a Pioneer Custom version of Android as it's underlying OS. I drive over gravel roads a lot with pot holes. Obviously I try to miss them but I do hit them occasionally. Will this unit with it's mounting bracket handle "not so smooth" roads???

The 1 DIN chassis needs to be mounted firmly in the dash. The screen hinge is very stiff and designed to not move during normal vehicle operation. Is Hires available when using Carplay?
On the Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX, you can playback any available music source when using Apple CarPlay. That includes USB audio. USB is where you can playback Hi-Res audio like FLAC, WAV, and DSD files. Be sure to use the wireless connection for Apple CarPlay and simply choose USB as the music source. If you are using Apple CarPlay for navigation, the system will mute the USB music to give you turn by turn instruction, and then restore the music after the navigation command is complete.

Will the fit in 2017 honda ridgeline? Crutchfield said no.
Crutchfield is a great organization with great install data. I went to Crutchfield's website and used the "what fits in your vehicle" button. I typed in 2017 Honda Ridgeline with both 5 inch and 8 inch screens. According to Crutchfield's on-line data, the Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX will fit with a proper dash installation kit. A Pioneer DMH-WT7600NEX will also fit. This is effectively a 1 DIN receiver. Unless they are saying it may block some dash controls, or something similar, I don't know why it would not fit. Having issues with mines can't get android auto wireless to work works fine when plugged in and Bluetooth is delayed a few seconds noticeably with playing UA-cam through my phone
No all Android phones work with Android Auto Wireless. This is not an issue with the in-dash receiver, it's the phone. I recommend to try and set it up again with Android Auto Wireless. Delete the phone from the receiver's Bluetooth Memory, and delete the receiver from the phone's Bluetooth memory. Delete the Android Auto App from the phone. Then download a fresh copy of the app from the Google Play store. Restart your phone. Restart the vehicle. After the receiver has powered up 1. Make sure the receiver's Wi-Fi is on. 2. Make sure your phone is on it Bluetooth Screen. This will make it visible to the receiver. 3. Press and hold the Microphone Button on the in-dash receiver. 4. Touch the Magnifying Glass when it appears. 5. Select your phone on the screen. It's possible, the wireless version of Android Auto is not enabled by the phone manufacturer or the service provider for your make and model of phone. Does your phone work with Android Auto Wireless in other vehicles? The delay for a few seconds in playing Bluetooth Audio is normal operation for the receiver. The Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX is not designed to be a Bluetooth speaker for you to watch movies on your phone while you are driving. The 2006 Sierra Denali has a bracket behind the factory receiver that will need to be cut out in order for the 1 DIN chassis of the Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX to fit, along with a proper 1 DIN dash install kit and wire kit. This is the same for the DMH-WT7600NEX. If your not comfortable with that type of work, please consider taking your vehicle to an Authorized Pioneer Dealer for installation may be the way to go.
