Well this is a first for Kenwood and us here in Australia the new DMX9720XDS is a new 10.1" HD Multimedia car stereo that looks very much like a tablet but comes with all the easy to fit car bits!
The new Kenwood DMX9720XDS is set to come out Aug/Sep 2020 and is a huge addition to the line up of Apple CarPlay & Android Auto units that Kenwood has to offer.

I couldn't agree more. Too many of them move to digital or a rocker style buttons and it takes too much focus to get to a proper volume selection. Old school knob for the quick turn up. If it aint broke, don't try to fix it.

I haven't searched too much but I did see the pioneer single din 10.1" unit and I like this Kenwood unit better. For starters it has DAB+ for Australia and it has a volume knob. If you don't have steering wheel controls, changing volume levels is a real pain in the arse with other methods. That's a winner. The tough screen seems to be better as in more responsive than the Pioneer as well. That's my initial impression but obviously I as an audio person I would need to see some more specs and view it in person.

I’m pleased with mines, it’s actually a head turner at auto stores and drive throughs. People always ask what kind of unit is it in awe.
I have this deck and wish it had track forward and reverse buttons. Besides volume those are the most important. I don’t have steering wheel controls in my classic car.
Best part is the volume knob hate not having it much easyer for qiuck volume changes, would love to see how it looks in a 2014 2015 hilux

Maestro is KING. If you car supports it, you would be doing it wrong to not use maestro over any other data interface company. Sorry, pac, metra, crux, navtv, ect.... We don't quote anyone any other product but maestro if it's an option in there car. Glad to see Australia is getting it now.

Ive got an Android 10.2inch from Sygav (chinese comp) and the looks are 100 times better then this! Mine is built into the dash, has a custom fascia that comes with it factory. Id say this one would have a few more features and better sound and screen quality , but im very happy still. Id think Kenwood would make a much nicer looking device. This looks like one of the first android tablets..

I said the same thing. It has about almost an inch of bezel around it. This is 2020, screens should be no more than centimeter from the edge and the screen in some sort of corning gorilla glass. Maybe the 2022 revised version will correct that issue.
Well Kenwood is a audio company at heart and not a display company. You buy Kenwood for audio quality. I have owned high end Alpines, Sony, JVC, Pioneer and Kenwood car stereos and kenwood makes the best for audio quality. Alpine stereos use to be the best but for some reason they been shitty lately.
Idk why this isn't for sale in the USA. I have been shopping for a radio and this looks like the best I have found yet

Yeah Sony is the only one that has nailed a nice simple interface. On the other hand, they don't have as many bells and whistles.

U know what’s more unbelievable is that instead of watching the dash cam on the screen u can just look out the windscreen

On a lot it will but it’s adjustable up and down in and out and angles so just make the best of it if you want a large screen good news is you don’t have to :)
Vents in the middle is mostly useless anyway and I have mine closed.

2 years on and still waiting for that idatalink demonstration. Asking all around the place and almost no one can offer any info, looks like half the features that are greyed out will be permenantly locked out.

Hi still waiting for my unit, for my Honda civic sedan 2019.
Is there a ability to shift the screen laterally(left or right) to get it out of the way of the gear shift lever?
Yes. It can be moved in and out, up and down, and left to right.
A few questions:
1 - does is quick boot after the first boot like recent Sony units? eg, does it do a sleep mode and wake quicker the second time you start the car? If so, how quick?
2 - I noticed there's camera recording. Where does that record to and does it have some sort of incident button to capture an incident? Is it possible to use in "sentry mode" while parked?
3 - Will it boot into Apple Carplay if a phone is connected by USB? ( or an option to do this). I use Carplay 99% of the time and don't want to have to click an icon every time I get into the car.
4 - Can the boot warning screen be disabled?
5 - Can you customise the boot loading screen?
Looks really good. Seriously considering it as alternative to Sony XAV-AX8000.
As for your dash cam needs, you'd be better off getting a dedicated dash cam and not the kenwood dash cam.
I have the similar alpine units this looks to have more gear, suits my car great but totally in the way of air vents in that car bit silly 🙃

Does anyone know how far the screen comes down past the double din opening at its highest setting adjustment? Don't want to buy it to find out it hits my air con knobs below. I've got about 20-25mm of room below the opening. Thanks in advance.

Hi, is this compatible with a ford ranger wildtrak 2016?
Anybody installed this on the 2021 Camry Hybrid SL model, with no issues, such as all round (4x) camera, front camera, rear camera, side camera, etc? Not a fan of the original installed head unit...
First, I’d like to say you guys make great informative product videos. An honest thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
But these new Kenwood's are truly terrible looking. The other’s are right, that bezels huge, and it doesn’t look clean behind the screen either. Kenwood could have at least painted the metal mount black, so it’s not the typical case grey that’s normally hidden in your dash. To be fair though, no manufacturer really makes a clean looking oversized screen. They just look ridiculous in a car when they’re not designed that way from the manufacturer. Ask yourself what manufacturers OEM oversized display covers up the AC vents or dash buttons. Honestly it’s just a lazy design all aftermarket manufacturers are guilty of. Really disappointing.
Just my 2 cents, a good system for sure, but at that screen size personally I would use a tablet on a holder, only because that size screen would be more of a distraction when driving.
Guys, I super appreciate that you showed an install on a new-ben Camry. Albeit, I'm from the US so my wheel's on the otherwise. So how did you modify the factory brackets? Did you add pieces of metal to the brackets to make them work with aftermarket headunits?
Can you just import the Maestro ADS-MRR + Suburu Harness or does it have to be a local unit so it can be flashed? Every advertisement mentions it but there doesn't appear to be a way to get the Maestro's in Aus.

Do they have built in satnav an option? I find it convenient to run satnav as my usual screen but it kills the phone battery to use the phone nav for this.
