Great video guys! I really like your videos, because you make them very informative. I feel like I learn something new every time I watch. I'd love to see you catch a mulloway one day (no pressure)😀
thankyou so much for a very helpful video, my wife and i are doing a 7 week trip all around that area next April/may, hope to have the same success as you, keep up the great video's....Cheers
Glad you enjoyed the west coast is so beautiful and the fish are plentiful. We will release a couple more vids from around Elliston in coming months so keep an eye out for those. Hope you have a great holiday!
Great to see the winning footage! What a horse of a salmon! Agree with the Penn reels. I own 7 Penn spinfisher VI’s setup for all different fishing. Cannot fault them. Have a look into ‘breakaway sinkers’ you clip in the wires and when retrieving they unclip for easier retrieval. They may or may not work for you as the currents may be too strong. Either way have a look! If only we had alot more gutters like these in Adelaide hey! Would be a dream! 😊
Thanks Kim! Yes I have tried those breakaway sinkers but they didn't do the job - probs because of the turbulence of the waters I have been fishing in through winter. Might try them out again in the warmer months. Yes the gutters were superb at this beach. I am grieving for those EP beaches. Will have to get down south for a fish soon as I am having withdrawal symptoms. It has been 3 weeks since I had a fish 😧. It is not that easy to get out when living in suburbia lol.
Top Salmon fishing we fished Almonta beach and landed a lot of Salmon the avage Fish was five and a harlf pounds up to nine pounds landed on hole pilchards on gang hooks. Regards. Laurie from Vic. Tight Lines.
You need a four wheel drive to get to the hot spot there’s a dirt track going part way to the beach . You may be abled to drive a 2 wheel drive on the track but then it stops and you have to drive thou the sand Dunes to the beach. Regards Laurie. Tight Lines.
I find once a line tangles it keep tangling and you spend most the morning fixing, like Martin David at the first tangle when he caught the big one, some times you better of making a new rig. Great video guys well done loved watching you bring in salmon, so much fun, I love them smoked, looking forward to your next adventure.👌👍❤️
None of us locals see your rigs as overkill. I see 35lb line and No.2 hooks as average normal basic size. Those who use braid use 50-80lb, which is fine for metals but no good for sinker fishing due to abrasion against the sans. The average for me is 50lb mono and big hooks - but I'm after the 10lb plus fish so there is that... I use breakaway sinkers, that way the spikes just fold away. Circle hooks were developed in the long line fisheries. Very good on the fish if you want to release them with minimal hurt. Those beaches are beautiful but very dangerous if taken lightly. Sharks patrol every gutter sooner or later. The big salmon are in close because the big predators are outside the surf line pushing them in... Great session, that last fish is what we generally go for off the beaches from Wanna all the way up to there and further, I don't think it matters where you go along that coast, always find the big ones eventually.
Good to know! You locals are really in fishing heaven...fish like that on your doorstep. I miss it so much now that I am back in metro Adelaide. You must be having a ball about now 😍
Hi we use fishing angler which is fine for the tides and fish activity because you can pick the location, but not so good for weather and particularly wind when out of metro area. We found the Elliston beaches totally different to what was being predicted in winter which was frustrating. We now use the windy app for wind as it is so much more accurate. 👍
Congratulations on the winning fish as it was a beauty and well deserved .
Thanks 🥰
Congratulations on the win, well,done.
Thank you!

Thanks! I would love to see me catch a mulloway too! It's on my bucket list lol.
I notice you use the same leader (Black Magic) as I do. I love it. It's really easy to tie knots with. Keep up the good work!😁

Sounds like you caught some whoppas! Will try Almonta Beach one day. I've heard it is fantastic for salmon.

Thanks for that
salmon are very good at tying your tackle in knots.yer they go to school at a early age to learn it.
Sure seems that way!
Yes, they are good at it.....and I found the keeper hooks made it tangle even more in that surf😀

We just had another tangle today😄

What’s the name of the fishing app you use and how accurate is it for South Australian fishing ?

Best salmon beach in Australia
From my limited experience, I totally agree 👍 😄
You do know that they are not really Salmon don't you. The flesh is nothing like a real Salmon.
Yes of course, this is an Australian Salmon not an Atlantic Salmon. Quite different taste and texture. Fun to catch
