Yea that’s good! We just booked for 1100 each interior 7 night in January next year. It’s $2600 a person on the royal Caribbean site same weekend and cabin so was a steal!
Amazing! FYI, another big job of the pearl is structural. Since they put in those huge windows to let light in and open up the promenade the pearl is essentially holding up the deck above.

I HAVE sailed on 2 of the Oasis class ships that hold nearly as many guests, and one of the pleasant surprises was that I really didn't feel any more crowded (both 100% capacity, June of '22 and Spring Break '23) than our cruises on the Voyager class ships like Navigator EXCEPT for a few events like karaoke.

Thank you for getting this video put together and out so quickly. I have the Star booked, but am anxious to hear reviews once people begin sailing Icon. Personally, I think the décor and look found on the Symphony looks better than what I am seeing in this video. The Icon just feels / looks bare as compared to the Oasis class. Central park looks like it has less plants and the Promenade looks like it will be too loud to enjoy with the open concept. The surf Side does look better than the Boardwalk though, and I think the aqua dome is what sells this boat. Lets hope RCL wakes up with some of these add on prices for activities... no other cruise line charges for ropes course, etc. RCL needs to be reeled back down to Earth... hopefully before the Star hits the water in 2025. I think we’re approaching the upper limit for cruise ship sizes. At least for the foreseeable future. Never say never but I don’t think we’ll see a ship with 15,000 people anytime soon.
@tropicten think about it from a capitalist point of view, the more people they can get into one ship, the more money they will make. I remember 10 years ago 6,000 people was considered a huge ship, now they're cramming 10,000 and it doesn't even feel overcrowded

Thanks for the ship tour. I can definitely tell Royal design this ship specifically for young families. And it's clear that is definitely their target.
Hopefully they figure out that if they make the water temperature is reasonable people will actually want to use the water parks. Water always too cold for me.
Keep in mind that the current board of director members for RCL all have families of their own. Thats why there is such a huge emphasis on family for the Icon class. Its a long term gamble and time will tell if it will work. I dont have kids but even I see plenty I would enjoy on Icon.
@@verios44 And there are great options within their lineup and across competitors for people that don't want the family vibe. We took my parents on of the Oasis-class ships in 2022 and they said it was too big anyways to get around easy so maybe the older crowd prefers slightly smaller ships as well.
I never thought this would dwarf the Oasis class, but in just about every way possible, it does! It's very hard to believe this is all on a moving vessel!
$6,000 for an inside cabin for 7 nights to the same old ports. Extra this extra that. Screaming kids everywhere. Uh no thanks. Balcony $5,400....Gee ya think that was a tuff call?? I booked Icon day one for half what they want today and still cancelled after seeing this over priced monstrosity ugly mall...I'll do Icon when the novelty wears off and when they can't fill three of them and rates come down in half adjusted for inflation, if the reviews match the hype.
I feel like this is the first time we've actually seen the Windjammer. All of the content up to this point has specifically avoided the windjammer, like Royal wasn't ready to show it off yet.
Already made reservation and will have to cancel. Will use the funding to go to Tokyo, Bangkok and Shanghai instead for a lot cheaper for 3 weeks instead of just 7 days. I don't think this cruise ship is worth it for the price when we can go to 3 countries eating authentic food and experience culture.
I really don't like central park compared to prior versions. Its looks very fake and plastic compared to the oasis ships. The decals, plant wall, and the shutters are too cartoon-y and there's far less plants.
@@leggomyweavo of course, but all the color was a bad choice, in my opinion. I do like the painted murals on the ceilings but very much dislike the shutters. Personal preference. The color makes it seem more “fun” and family/childlike and less sophisticated and elegant, which perhaps is what they are going for.
yeah, i mean it's not horrible by any means. But I just find it inferior-looking compared to what I know it has been in prior iterations. I find the prior versions just more natural and garden-y looking. Also , when are we gonna see cabin tours? I wanna see the dang suites!@@leggomyweavo
The Suite Deck can also be used by the new SKY Junior Suites debuting on the Icon, so no longer starting with the Grand Suites. Normal Junior Suites cannot use the Suite Deck.
@@taratilton9715 We did all pay a lot, but the premium price we paid to upgrade to the Sky Jr. Suite ended up with a 9K+ cost for the cabin, and we booked the first day reservations opened for Icon, but wanted to try the full Sky Class Suite Experience on this ship.
Thanks for the great review Matt. Haven't quite finished watching it yet, but looks like glorified kid's playground on the water. And I mean - little kids, not adult kids. I was expecting gorgeous and classy ship. What I saw is... tacky at best. Looks like cheap version of Disney, like if Carnival tried to make a Disney ship... So disappointing. And more nickel-n-diming - now they are charging for the ropes course? What's next - they are going to start charging for zip lines on Oasis class ships? Maybe it's time to look for a different cruise line. Considering all the extra charges and extra pay requirements, no, can't justify those prices for a tacky ship made for children.
Hi there! Matt, you did a fabulous job summing everything up for us! WOWE, I know you can't wait to be sailing on this absolutely beautiful ship! I am looking forward to seeing more of Cloud 17 and the rest of the ship. YAY!
I hope the update the elevator panel to look like the panel in oasis class elevators. Have some type of picture to represent each deck would be very helpful
I booked a guarantee stateroom, it's balcony ocean view on Deck 14 but the price was worth it less than $4,000 for me and Husband. It's under Celebration Table so I hope we won't hear much noise, but we are not staying in the room unless to sleep. Looking forward and time will tell if this was a good choice but this price from what I see on social media might be worth it. Wish us luck. Celebrating my retirement so its all good🙂!
I love the new look and especially central park it looks so bright. I'm just worried the lack of shade not everyone wants to sit in the sun on any of the pools. The amount of food options include great. And they should've left out the pearl so have more ocean view. I wish cost wasn't so much feel like a lot people including myself are priced out right now.

Balconies in the Central Park sort of sucked. There were annoying bird noises, a lot more noise than you would expect, and not much to really look at. I was excited for them and then disappointed by them and I feel like most people would be. Agree that Surfside looks like a terrible place for a room.
@@memoman88 I was in Central Park on symphony and loved it, those bird noises wasn’t loud at all. It feels like a standard, newly build upscaled mall, with artificial plants, decor and very, "plain". I wasn't ready for that but hey, the local mall have a hotel with some bars. It doesn't really feels, vacation/relaxation/happiness and comfort, I must write - my expectations was higher and thru your video. It's a posh, 3-star, colorful urban city mall on the sea. ICON is stunning, and they should offer 10-night cruises that go no-where (maybe stop once in Cozumel and CocoCay). I’d spend the entire time with a checklist in-hand eating my way from venue to venue and would never be happier.
With 6 water slides for free. I don't see t why people would pay for the water park on Perfect Day. A problem with very open venues though, for things like trivia how will they keep the volume low enough for everyone to hear them over the music?
Seeing Icon come into the Miami harbor really put its size into perspective. It reminds me of my Navy days when I first saw an Aircraft Carrier. Very large and mind boggling. I thought the Empire Supper Club was located in Central Park

Hopefully they figure out that if they make the water temperature is reasonable people will actually want to use the water parks. Water always too cold for me.
And I will be avoiding it for that reason. Thanks for the video, I now know which ship not to take!
I think it’s refreshing imo. Lots of cruises are for the older demographic and the young 20 something’s seem to be out of the loop. 😊
My daughter is on this ship now with her company and she says it is absolutely amazing.
If she’s working there, it’s not amazing.
I just have one question: HOW DO THEY FIT ALL OF THIS IN ONE SHIP?!?!?!?!
Icon doesn't even look real lol. WAY too expensive though.
Everything looks like an over colorized Dr Seuss book, I want to sea traditional nautical themes when I’m on a ship.
Not going-overpriced
I just love getting excited for things I’ll never do 💀
Greetings from Coco cay and the Mariner of the Seas where we are docked with the Icon of the Seas.
I never thought this would dwarf the Oasis class, but in just about every way possible, it does! It's very hard to believe this is all on a moving vessel!
It looks just like an oasis class.. It’s basically a glorified one with some nice price gouging too!!
@@jonathanbardunias1889 I’ve been on Oasis class ships a few times before, but a class this size would be a once in a lifetime experience even for me!
$6,000 for an inside cabin for 7 nights to the same old ports. Extra this extra that. Screaming kids everywhere. Uh no thanks. Booked on Virgin Voyage Resilient Lady, 10 nights, New Zealand beautiful, overnight ports, $700 on board Credit (loot), free wi-fi, tips included, bottle of Moet in cabin, free exercise classes, 6 specialty restaurants included free, game room free, good ice cream free, $7 room service fee waived if you order a beer, soda free, NO KIDS....
Will cruise on this ship when prices come down since i am a solo traveler
I feel like this is the first time we've actually seen the Windjammer. All of the content up to this point has specifically avoided the windjammer, like Royal wasn't ready to show it off yet.
I think it's just not that exciting, so it doesn't make the marketing material.
Same! All the color on those shutters is very tacky. Not the elegant feel we’re accustomed to for Central Park
Was going to say this as well. Looks like something you'd see at a Sandals resort. Takes the charm away from Central Park.
@@shaunnabagelwell i mean it is an evolution of central park, not meant to be an identical copy of what we’re used to with oasis class
Good point!
It should start with Junior suites! We paid a lot too!!! lol 💲💲💲💲
Also if you are staying in the surfside family suite
Wow!! 🤩 That ship is amazing!! I can’t wait for your full tour video. I’m living vicariously through you!!😆
The price you pay to go on one of those, all the food should be 'complimentary'.
Will the open venues cause an issue with sound bleed from other venues?
great question
They actually want it that way to some extent. Will need to see how it all works on a real sailing.
YAY!
It looks like a shopping mall, very plastic and fake.
I never been on a cruise, but icon is the top of my bucket list for a year, now 😊
why would they put the surf thing that close to the edge of the boat 😭
I love the new look and especially central park it looks so bright. I'm just worried the lack of shade not everyone wants to sit in the sun on any of the pools. The amount of food options include great. And they should've left out the pearl so have more ocean view. I wish cost wasn't so much feel like a lot people including myself are priced out right now.
I agree, not too much shade it looks like 1 out of every 10 seats have shaded area
This is a disaster waiting to happen.
Nuh uh

Love all the bright colors. I like they added escalators & designated elevators thats pretty awesome. I don't think i will have time to get off at port to many things to see on this ship....Can't wait til MAY
My only fear, does going on a ship this nice ruin the experience of normal ships?
Matt, will the sushi from the walk-up-to-go window be complimentary or would that be an additional cost since it's connected to Izumi? Thanks, this ship looks incredible! Can't wait for the full ship tour! 😊
Sushi window is an additional cost
This ship looks like absolute chaos. I would never go on a ship like that. I love royal Caribbean. But this is too big, too impersonal, too much like going to Disneyland. I would take classy cruise over a theme park type cruise any day.
Thank you for this video! I am excited for Everything but really worried that we are not going to have enough TIME to experience and see Everything! This ship is huge! Also, usually when u are going to the pool, u are easily navigate yourself on this side or that side, here u don’t know where to start…..! Can’t wait to watch more videos and learn this ship!
You would have to be a great time manager to see everything on this ship in 7 days. But you’ll have fun trying. We sail in June, and i’m finally getting excited
We saw everything in an Oasis in 4 days except all the restaurants (I can't eat that much). It isn't too bad.
@@memoman88 Did you see AND do everything? Flow rider, ice skating, zip line, rock climbing wall, all of the shows? I can never get to the flow rider, and I’ve tried one or two speciality restaurants. I’ve managed to play Bingo once. I need discipline!!
@@traciebradley6891 I saw everything I wanted to see except for maybe a minor show or two. I don't care about shopping or water park (water was too cold except hot tubs) or alcohol or gambling and didn't visit speciality restaurants on that cruise but I don't believe in paying for speciality restaurants unless they are truly unique for the Milwaukee metro area. Others might feel differently.
Ice skating was good but the rink was so much smaller (to skate) than it looked--made the shows ever more impressive.
So many extra fees isn't the 3k a person enough?
This ship looks absolutely spectacular and absurdly humongous. I mean they took the perfect day at coco cay formula and put it on a ship. Being on 7 cruises all royal Caribbean. All pre COVID. This looks completely built for a new cruise generation. May not be for me.

First thing I think of when I see this is the absolute giant wind tunnel straight through the back of it
Finally escalators! They need to start doing more escalators on these mega ships…Central Park was my favorite area on the oasis ships, now the colors of the shutters are tooo loud… don’t like that it looks like more windows instead of balconies.. surf side looks like it will be a very loud area… I’ll be staying away from that whole section whenever I get on, years from now 🤣
Balconies in the Central Park sort of sucked.
It was relaxing and there was hardly any noise.. you must have very sensitive ears if you thought Central Park was loud lol.. only time it was loud was on embarkation day when the band up top was playing.. that’s it. And I had one of the few double wide balconies in there.. it’s my favorite place to be.
@@TravelwithEbby those fake birds woke me up every morning with the balcony closed. Idk if I was right by the speakers or what and I really don't know why they have to turn on at like 730am but I guess some people like them. Thenn people wandering through at night woke me up several times. To each their own I guess.
If I wasn't such a sensitive sleeper I'm sure I would have enjoyed it. The park was my favorite part of the ship. Maybe they turn the birds on later? I think our sailing with it was January 2022.
@@memoman88 lol wow I couldn’t hear anything when the doors were closed lol the speakers had to have been next to you lol but then again I was rooming with someone who snores!!! Loud! So I had ear plugs in my ear with white noise playing so I can try to drown out her snores lol… 😂 so maybe that’s why I didn’t hear the birds lol
Will not book.
Simply stunning! Beautiful ship. Thanks for the preview.
Thanks for watching!
The Lifeguards are too much on Royal. Make pools uninviting as they stand over you. Even in adult pools.
They're there for your safety. It's a real benefit having them there to prevent drownings.
The elevators are cool. I would like to have elevators that go forward and backward as well, imagine having that!
im a diamond member and even with my discount (what discount lol) this cruise is horrifically outpriced... i can do a 7 day on icon OR 28 days back to back to back on a freedom class ship... very sad
What a beautiful ship! Innovative throughout and love the spacious & comfortable looking cabins. thanks for this exciting sneak peek.
!
When are they going to make all new smaller ships to replace the older smaler ship like the Vision class ships ???
I LOVE Color and this ship is my dream in every way, so cool, bright and Amazing! They did an unimaginable job in the design...the neighborhoods, themes, and pools...not to mention those water parks! Thank you for the tour, it was excellent and so informative...can't wait for more!
ICON is stunning, and they should offer 10-night cruises that go no-where (maybe stop once in Cozumel and CocoCay). I’d spend the entire time with a checklist in-hand eating my way from venue to venue and would never be happier.
Absolutely agree. I don't even think I would get off this ship at Coco Cay. My checklist is just too long. What an amazing ship!
Agree! The ship is a destination unto itself. ✌🏻
Sooo glad everyone’s slowly swapping over 2 electric so they can make this abomination😂😂😂
Every indoor section looks like a mall, I can't believe how much it reminds me of American dream mall, and it's all just floating!
I said the same thing! It’s American Dream at sea. Where’s the ski slope?
With 6 water slides for free. I don't see t why people would pay for the water park on Perfect Day. A problem with very open venues though, for things like trivia how will they keep the volume low enough for everyone to hear them over the music?
I can see myself spending lot of time in the Hideaway bay. ❤
What I love about this ship, is how the color scheme reminds me of the 80's but re-imagined.
Looks very colorful Like a lsd theme
I don’t know if this makes sense, but it looks outdated, even though it’s new I don’t think it’ll age anywhere near as well as the Oasis
Small thing, but it’s odd they opted for standard usb outlets instead of usb c in 2024.
Thanks, Matt, for giving us a glimpse of Awesomeness 🎉 I can't wait to board!
Can’t wait to go in may! Everyone so concerned with price and nit picking everything and no one has sailed on it yet!
Seeing Icon come into the Miami harbor really put its size into perspective. It reminds me of my Navy days when I first saw an Aircraft Carrier. Very large and mind boggling.
I thought the Empire Supper Club was located in Central Park
