Always a pleasure watching you work Gordy, this is my only Hemlock story. A big blow came thru here some 20 years ago and snapped a Hemlock like a toothpick 25 feet up where it then sat for a couple of years. Here I come with my Makula and 20" bar, it leaned the way I wanted to fall it yet the foliage was all on the other side. Long story short when finished cutting I heard a thump, it was perfectly balanced so I thought I could pull it down with the truck. As I'm sinching the rope up it starts teetering so I pulled harder and slipped down flat on the ground one last pull and here it comes. With a thud it left a 6" divot where I was laying, talk about doing the dyeing cockroach trying to get out of the way. About 3' at the base I would have been flatter than a mashed cat. I know allot more about trees and saws now for sure. Every tree is different and read differently depending where you want it to go. Johnny Cash made a song called The Lumberjack, take care.
What's not cool with you Gordy, is the question. That stove, trucks and saws are all top. I guess I appreciate those things, cause those are the things I'm into. Plus the elk hunting NICE!
I've been felling a lot of punky dead pine recently in the woods near footpaths. Nothing as big as your Hemlocks but still scary as there's no telling where it's going to fall when those hinge fibres fail. Nice one, stay safe.
Looks like uncle randy is sporting some WCS dogs on his saw! 👌 Awesome content as always. I can say I am happy to have spent half of my lunch break from doing tree work to watch another video of yours doing likewise. Thanks again for bringing us along Gordy. Be safe out there. Brad in Florida.
Can't wait to see a truck tour!! Also, your truck may be the star of the show but chads ol bricknose was pretty nice too 👌🏼 love seeing any old truck still running
Brotha! Fill a 5 gallon bucket with wood chipper chips and throw half a gallon of diesel or kerosene, maybe so used motor oil then put a twist open top on it. Put a few pieces of wood in, throw a coffee cup of chips on top, then a few more. Touch it off and you’re good to go. No need to burn up propane! Works like a charm.
Mr Gordy 😁 Awesome to see a new video pop up !!! I've been in your shop before but Nice !! Great stove ( shoulda made the legs longer so ya don't gotta bend over) 😂 Awesome truck 👍👊 I'm going to look at one tomorrow.... same color and a 77, looks pretty good in the pic's ? Thanks for taking us along, great to see you !!! ❤
Oh no, crusties scare the bajeebers out of me, seen to much, but still can't help the love of felling trees! You gotta love the olE brush torches, handy for more than just burning brush 😂 Oh heck yeah, reminds me of my olE 76 blazer with 40's and running the mud pits and trails. The man who taught me felling, always had an 8lb sledge with him to test the sketchy ones. Thanks for sharing all your videos Sir!
Hi gordy, I was just wondering what kinda 2 stroke oil you would recommend to put in my power saw. I have a stihi av 038 farmboss and a little sthil ms231. I'm using sthil oil, but you build saws, and you would know a bit better than me. Thank you, John from Ireland 🇮🇪 hear love the channel 👍🏻👍🏻
Love the video, I was looking at your bark boxes and noticed you didn’t have any for huskys. Was just wondering if you were thinking about making some for husky’s?
If any of you knuckle draggers know where I can find one of those Oregon light bars I’d really appreciate if you would plug me in on one! I’ll even throw you some $ for the trouble. Thanks for the video Gordy!
TY Gord!! PS I LOVE my WCS upgrades on my 462 Full wrap. The saw is amazing... Im ALWAYS looking for a 044 on facebook to have. But I want a Full wrap one and original condition getting hard to find them... I love my 036 its a great saw.
Love all your videos man! I love the 044 you run most of the time! You gotta do a video on it! Have you done any internal work on it? It runs like a champ!
I find myself watching this, enjoying it, come out the other end feeling a sense of accomplishment.... then I realize it wasn't me doing the work - it's still out there waiting on me - leaners, snags, a typical western Oregon woodlot. Ha!
Gordy, did you realize that your stove pieces of wood were short enough to lay them in 90* to how you were putting them? It’s just something that I’ve started doing AND It’s easier to put an “all nighter” round in at the end so that I have plenty of coals leftover for getting the fire going the next day, or in your case for when you get back to the shop. I know that at first glance/thought that they would roll out when you open the stove door, but when most stoves are made they have a fairly generous “lip” up front which in my case prevents a “rollout”. Just food for thought because it works VERY WELL.
have you ever considered a metal detector to check for iron in the trees? that might save your long chains from damage! they do work well in the ground, why not in a tree?

Now you're just teasing us with a truck tour - we've been wanting that for a while. The ol' 044 is rippin and Jed is smilin 👍👍
I see you have Crowe seat belts in your pickup. Fred just passed away a week ago. Good man, known him since the 60s 😊.

I guess I appreciate those things, cause those are the things I'm into. Plus the elk hunting NICE!
I wish people wouldn’t wait so long to take down dead trees. So much easier when there’s still a bunch of integrity.
Man that Ole square body is sweet
You don't mess around when you light your wood stove lol
Nice vid man! Love the concentration face you got going on lol nice shots tho.
That is a KOOL truck!
Great vids thanx

Damn, I wish this dude was my neighbor, no, screw that, I wish he was my dad.😂😂😂😂😂😂
If you felled them like we do in Europe, there would be no bloody big stump left to clean up, if left, always turn out to be a probmatic stump
Nice truck
It looks like the only thing Hemlocks are good for is firewood.
Good job
Super mantap👍💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Its a mammoth task cutting it for firewood.
