ha! i got an ace in this plane before Defyn did! (although let's be real here, all the french documents about this plane talk of it being armed with 2x20mm and 4x7.5mm mgs and i still don't get why Gaijin only gave it the 20mm)
According to Gaijin what is in game is representative of the prototype. However the prototype had no armament.

From all i recall there were only 2x20mm planes, refited one which were designed to carry bombs.
I highly recommend people play aircraft like this (MB, Yak-9, etc) with the low ammo loads at least a few times. It's a good way to train your trigger discipline, especially if you tend to play US planes with a hell of a load of .50 cal rounds. I actually enjoyed the MB when I first flew it, I haven't taken it out recently though. Maybe I'll do that.
I liked this aircraft too, but it also caused me to be way too greedy with ammo, to the point that I sometimes am even afraid to hold down the trigger with a vulcan
@@Mult1Core Yeah been playing the Yak series a lot lately because I never really used to like them. Yak-9T with the low amount of shells in that 37mm took me a while, but it's satisfying watching planes just cease to exist when you hit them.
For a "tapfire-encouraging" playstyle, I'd also recommend Pokryshkin's P-39N, La-9, Bf 109 F-1/E-4, Fw 190 A-1, Spitfire Mk. IIb and A6M2. (For challenge's sake, I'm specifically excluding planes that can face biplanes, e.g. Bf 109 E-3/E-7.) Some of them have been featured in this channel before, but the general theme is either low rate of fire or low rounds-per-gun (not the same thing as low ammunition, see La-9 which has lots of ammo but not a lot of trigger time)
@@breadenthusiast-rr5vr yeah bro the P39N-0 is one of my fave planes. I got 2 kills in air rb yesterday after not using it for a few weeks. Very fun. The 37mm cannons blow planes the fuck up
@@ThunderSims Do you have Pokryshkin's P-39N? It's a premium Soviet one that's different from the US tech tree one, I don't know if you can still get it. In exchange for the wing-mounted guns, you gain performance that rivals energy fighters like the Bf 109 F-4, at a whole BR lower than the F-4. It's quite the seal clubber.
Now this one could be interesting: Get an ace in the French D.371 H.S.9, because it only has 60 rounds total. Great video series idea by the way!
It is very capable of one shotting any biplanes though, probably easier than with this

The flight performance on this thing is 10/10
This is arguably my favourite aircraft in the French tech tree. I did manage to pull off an ace with 120 rounds- I did rearm (took a last-ditch head on and lost the engine) but I expended a total of 118 shells.
Same, I've played it a lot and now i manage to spend 10/15 shells on average to kill an opponent. Once you have mastered the speed and trigger discipline, the only problem left is a bad team or a lack of targets.
Because it’s actually good lol.
With Manual engine control, the performance is even better. I absolutely love this plane and honestly the guns weren't that inconsistent for me. Trigger discipline and really honing in your aim and you're good.

Very nice video, enjoyed every second of it. And already people go for some crazy ideas for an ace like that. Well, at least no one suggest a Duck or a 262 with a 50-mm canon for this challenge.
I'd like to see you try to get an ace in the AJ37, no missiles and only one gunpod (you'd probably want to use the hardpoint for flares anyway.)
AJ is supposedly pretty good in ARB right now at 10.3, with the custom load out of 24 flares (no need for chaff), 1 gunpod, and 2 AIM-9Js

I think I suggested you do this (ace in M.B.157) a long time ago, so I'm happy to see this video. It's a fun plane with the obvious shortcoming of the low ammo.
HEY! you played my favorite plane! Awesome! Like previously mentioned in other comments MEC really works it wonders on this plane. Open the oil rad 100% and feather the coolant rad depending on map location. That way you can WEP all the time.

This is probably my favorite plane in the game, simply because it rewards very careful play in a way that I haven't been able to replicate with others.
No it isn't very good, no I can't be consistently great, but it's fun.

great vid concept idea, content creators need more of this, its like oddbawz telling everyone to actually use a lineup. Dont play with one vehicle and leave when you die, like CC's, better for the game if people follow through, leading by example is how i see this, good stuff.

Funnily enough, I recently got an 8 kill match in this thing, with six kills on one ammo load.
What I think made it feasable was the fact that I was in a complere downtier, so generally the opponents were slower and less skilled. Just like you said, you NEED people slow in this thing, otherwise aiming is a b*&£h.
I would always choose this thing over the Whirlwind Mk.1 though.
Hell yeah, I love that plane! I have an ace crew on it and had several ace matches, but I think I had to reload in all of them....

Gaijin has rejected implementing that twice in the past so I'm not holding my breath. I'd love to see it but, again, I'm not holding my breath. Both times they did in the past it was because they said that what is in game is representative of the prototype but the prototype had no armament.

@@LeDunkerque They won't accept Heinkel's own documentation on the He-100D. Gaijin does things on their own terms and on an if they want to and when they want to basis. It took over a year for the .50 cal ammo for the P-59 to be reduced to 600 rounds for example.

This seems like a fun challenge to do with either the D4Y2 or D4Y3. Maybe it’s a little less hard but still fun especially with air to air rockets or bombing planes on their airfield.
It is actually fairly hard to do with the D4Ys. The 7.7s are fairly weak. Good overall flight performance (literally better than a number of fighters that they can face) with a bomber spawn with poor MER and horrible guns. I thought that they were, sans the very light bomb load, fine at 3.7ish.
@@rainsilent as a D4Y user I enjoy using it to bomb enemies returning to their airfield, or using the rockets on the second variant to shoot bombers out of the sky. If you’re good at that, you got like 600 rounds of crappy gun ammo to kill 3-4 people.
@@spingebill8551 I know but unless you get pilot snipes or lucky fires you are asking a lot from that ammo for 3-4 kills. They are seen as being among the worst guns in the game for a reason.
@@rainsilent I think I’ve done it before. Don’t think while getting enough bomb/rocket kills but I have. You have to fool someone into a dogfight and hit their cockpit when you’re very close.

I stopped playing W/T over 8 months ago now (miss it dreadfully - only flew since beta and was ww2 era for me unfortunately) - but still watch your videos. If you did something like challenge videos though that would be awesome - I love them in Starcraft and would not have thought to see them in War Thunder. Although I suspect anything high tier is going to have you running a lot of 2 minute videos 😂

@@ThunderSims I joined in beta very early for ww2 aircraft when game was described as dedicated to ww2 aviation - little interest in jets etc not of that era - which wasn't a problem - but I kinda gave up with a huge number of changes in air rb which seemed to be turning into a ground pounding fest for ppl trying to get their strike aircraft up for tanks etc - and finally (I'd guess through bad problems with balance at high tiers) due to changes in the ww2 era - I found myself in my favourite Japanese plane fighting ....germans. Game had lost that team feel and lacked the immersion it previously had - I hung on a long time as it is so accessible and I love that flying sensation. I'd hoped things were maybe going to go more in an IL2 direction rather than a powercreep one? I'm not a click and kill fan. But the game is fun still I'd guess. I do miss torturing ppl in d2y2 (my fav), that strange usa low tier jet (forgot name) d5 with gunpods and any other silly troll craft :D Sorry for being verbose and that's only the tip of the iceberg :P. Constantly tempted though :D

This plane and the 109 F1 really teach you to have trigger discipline, shame that the guns on both are inconsistent.
MG/FF are not inconsistent with dmg, they're just slow

I love this plane, and I find it so beautifull. I would love to do good games in it like in the video, but unfortunately, it becomes harder and harder to play on my 8 year old PS4. It's already not easy to play airplanes on a console, and especially to aim well, and on top of that I have the impression that gaijin has reduced the sensitivity of the controls on the game for PS4 ...
I challenge you to do the same with the d371 ( 20 mm)

I wish it at least had two 7.5 mgs, only 60 rounds per gun it's atrocious specially with a fcking practice round in every belt. The plane performance to me is very good it fits my playstyle

the j21 is decent just i don’t understand why somebody would use it when at the same br there is the a21 which can carry bombs/rockets. also all br 4.0+ plane rep. costs are to high for sweden
7:15 you’re the first person I have ever seen that doesn’t fanboy for that sack of $hit plane (for air RB). Like seriously why does everyone like that plane?
The only reason I enjoy Swedish planes is because of their guns. The 13.2 mm guns punch harder than some CANNONS, and their ballistics are pretty great.
Gun performance is also why I like to fly out the F4U-1C.
But alas, the performance of the J-21A is pretty poor for the BR, especially considering the Yak-3, Typhoon Mk Ib/L, and J2M2 sit at the same BR.
@@Flayrr872 yeah, the guns do pack a punch. I think the planes are cool especially the A3 variant with its low RB bombing computer, but outside of the jet variants (which are the most underrated jets in the game imo) the A21s just suck in air RB.

War Thunder is only about pain, whatever the plane you chose… Except if you are going USA, and only if you pick a low tier Corsair or a Sabre, USA… it is the least painful tree for Air.
I rather prefer invest in DCS, more fun and better than War Thunder.

The 20s are very early Hispanos that used 60 round ammo drums. It doesn't have any 7.5s because Gaijin being Gaijin.
