- Hello Everyone! It's Tom and Paul! We're The Blokes From Stoke! Two big kids (and a dog) sharing our love of Disney, Universal, Theme Parks, Travel, Florida and Home.
Welcome to our California Vlog series 2024! It's and we're SO excited to be travelling to somewhere brand new. Lots for us to explore as you'll see in the coming episodes so stay tuned.
Our first episode sees us travelling to LHR for our flight to Los Angeles. We have a cheeky upgrade and head to the clubhouse. We'll show you a bit of the flight before we pick up our rental car and head to our first hotel.
Stay tuned for lots coming on this trip including Universal Studios Hollywood, Celebrity Homes Tour, Both Disney Parks, The Warner Brothers Studio Tour and the Hollywood Walk Of Fame!

oh gawd, we stayed at this hotel. It was awful, the neighborhood was horrible with the homeless encampment across the street.
What a change that was coming from the Disneyland Hotel. Now on with the show, I need to find out what your experience there was
Hiya! Than you so much for coming along with. Have to say, we didn’t have a bad experience here at all. Only thing was that the hotel needed a bit of TLC. We didn’t see anything similar to what you mentioned at the hotel but we saw a lot in Hollywood.
Just got back from a Caribbean cruise and was happy to see a new vlog!!

Ps lads the cheapest time to upgrade is when you get on the plane ask you you are seated and you wont get it cheaper keep safe Andy and Vonnie
Yeah we’ve asked this before but we checked the seat map at the airport and there were only a couple of seats left so didn’t want to risk leaving it that late….
The X3 is going to seem huge to you.
We had an X3 last summer so was hoping for it again but choice was poor when we got there! Cadillac was nice though!

A few years back I booked a park and ride. What i didnt know was the company took the car and randomly parked it in a housing estate for a fortnight!!!
Oh no!!! Hope it was still in one piece Sue! We did check the reviews of the one we booked and it was all ok as well as checking the mileage!

I thought the counseling had worked until I started watching the vlog 😂. Definitely worth the upgrade on such a long flight, even with the funky seat layout. Pretty good stamina from Tom 😅

Hi guys why did you take the escalator after checking in instead of the upperclass lift and upperclass security, you have to have a Virgin RedHead at the the Virgin lounge its the law lol keep safe Andy and Vonnie
Hiya. Thanks so much for tuning in! We didn’t use the lift as it was out of order, so when we got to security they directed us to the upper class channel and that took you where the car drops you off. We’ll look out for the cocktail!

United would rather leave those fancy seats empty then offer day of upgrade options.
We usually always wait til just before we go to see what’s available. Can save considerably!

Hi Brendan! Hope you’re well! Awww hopefully you’ll get the upper experience soon! When we flew over vegas we saw the sphere on the right hand side of the plane, but of course it depends which way the captain’s flying!!!

That’s a parking bargain for valet. 3x to be in a garage or valet at US major city airport.

Dude you are driving in like 14 hours. have a cocktail. LA is actually an easy city to get around in from a where to go perspective. It’s just massively spread out.
We did have a few cheeky drinks. Just hard to shake the British habits!

Hi Jeni! Thanks so much for coming along! We used to be able to manage it but UA-cam made some changes to ad placement and now they pretty much control where they’re put. Hopefully they’re mostly skippable…. But on another note, with our nonsense, you might be glad of the break! 😂😂😂😂😂!

We have more highways in Houston then exist in England. How comfortable are you driving on the right ? I could never drive in London.
Surprisingly confident! However, LA traffic is either crazy or at a slow crawl.. so definitely an experience!
Hey guys, If you don’t mind me asking, are you able to say how much you paid to upgrade to Upper on this trip? Very interested in doing this and wondering if it’s better to do it at the airport 🤞🏻
Hi Liam. It depends on what class you’re upgrading from, how many seats are left and what route you’re flying. Our upgrade was about £749pp for this trip.
not sure about the virgin upper. what did you guys make of it ?
We’re not the biggest fans of this configuration as it’s less private, but we love the experience. That bed really does help on the longer flights!

Sadly not in this one. We locked our valuables in our cases, but there was an iron/ironing board etc in the little cupboard next to the bathroom. We just forgot to show it! 😬😬😬

Didn't look like you used the special security entrance for Virgin Upper via the Red Carpet and Lift ?
Hiya. The lift was out of order so we had to go up the escalators then join the separate security channel which you meet at the Upper check in wing…

How was the M25 that's always hell lol?
M25 was nice and easy! It was the M6 that threw a spanner in the works!
@@TheBlokesFromStoke if I was coming from Kent I would be stuck in traffic for ages as there are more road works down this area than I've had hot dinners and holidays the holidays well I've only had 2 in 7 years since caring for me mum.

Iv wanted to go to universal Hollywood but being worried as lax is much bigger than Orlando. It’s our 40th wedding next year and I would love to do this then fly to Orlando for 10 night
Was the hotel close to everything and did you find driving ok. We watch Nick and Leigh the lodge guys but they made it look so easy. Just starting universal pt 2. ❤❤
Hi Alison! We booked hotel and flights separately (which we usually do). Used points for the Hilton in Anaheim. The hotel near universal was SO close as you may have seen from the time lapse (there are a couple closer) and this wasn’t too pricey, but you can walk to the bottom of the bank and the Universal tram will take you to the entrance. We managed to do everything at Universal Hollywood in a day (but we did buy early access to Nintendoland)..

Hi Alison, it’s Tom 👋🏻👋🏻 We actually booked LA through my travel agency and booked the Hilton part using Hilton points. The flight and hotel setup can be totally tailored to the needs of the client so lots of flexibility. If you’d like a quote I can certainly put a no obligation quote together for you 🙂

Just we want to go virgin as we have points and a voucher from credit card still not sure. 5 days LA then a flight from LA to MCO, accommodation we will find a villa or something for 12 dats returning to LHR from Tampa international. September next year around 5-6 as our 40th is 7th n my birthday is 8th September so wanted to be in LA around that time. Thank you so much for your assistance very much appreciated. We normally do virgin for all. This year Iv booked villa independently bit nervous about that as you hear of scams but did it through air b n b. Any help, it might be to early for September 2025 flights yet as Virgin are not showing anything. Sorry a bit long this message ❤️❤️
