I don't think the cost should necessarily be cheaper, but I DO think they should always be covered by insurance. Period. We don't choose to be born with hearing difficulties or have accidents or illnesses that cause hearing loss/deafness to occur. This is part of healthcare and should be covered as necessary equipment to improve your life. If you CHOOSE to go for the most expensive option because you WANT to and not because its what is necessary, then sure, you should have to cover the excess, but if that is what your hearing loss requires, it should be covered. The issues isn't with the cost, it is with insurance companies not wanting to cover actual medical needs. I'm very fortunate to not be under American insurance as I live in the UK. My aid will be fully covered, including the cost of batteries!
Great comment! Some insurance cover portions. Some will cover $600 for every 4 years while some will cover the full amount. Totally agree with you that if you have the means to afford something with more bells and whistles, you have all the power to do so. For those who just need the basics and don't need the wireless capabilities, I think there should be options for people to buy inexpensive hearing aids. Good to hear you're fully covered! It's a great privilege :)
@@LetThereBeEars I agree that there should be cheaper options and I also agree that Insurance should pick up a higher percent of the bill. Insurance companies are horrible and they pick and choose what they cover based upon an individuals needs. So its pretty much like if you have a need for something, they decline to pay. Just sad...
I think the cost of hearing aids is somewhat justified but there should be cheaper options as well. Unfortunately hearing aids suffer from the same "medical tax" markups as other medical devices. P.S. Yat you might want to check your captions. They're a little disconnected from your audio.
I think they are somewhat especially with the durability and lifespan. Thank you for noting the captions! My goodness, I was using Descript for the first time and it's giving me a good chuckle. My pronunciation of should becomes 💩
Three reasons why they should be cheap: digital cameras were put in smartphones and they got cheaper, PCs went from a room sized device to the palm of your hand and they got cheaper, internet went from dialup to broadband and it got cheaper. Do you know why these devices got cheaper? Because NOBODY TRULY NEEDED THEM. So, they had to be cheap for people to get interested in buying them. Hearing aids? WE NEED THEM. So, companies can behave like imoral thugs with their prices. The fact you are saying they can't produce cheap models because of technology when everything else got cheaper due to technology is the only thing I took from this video.
Let me know if hearing aids should be more affordable!
