Such a good comment though when you think about the many people who ask (about the lotr trilogy) "why didn't the hobbits just fly eagles to mount doom?" But maybe the eagles don't want to fly themselves into literally the worst and most dangerous place on earth with flying wraith-monsters everywhere, lol - not to mention getting spotted more easily in the sky

I’ve always enjoyed them. Although they probably could have been condensed into two movies, I think they strike a decent balance between fitting with the style of the LotR movies and being lighter, more child oriented as the book.
So, this isn't depicted in the movies (not even in the extended editions) but rather in the deleted scenes, but the reason why there is animosity between the elves of Mirkwood and the dwarves of Erebor is because the jewels that the elf king, Thranduil, had brought them were his beloved wife's after she had died. He had asked for their help in restoring the jewels but the dwarf king, Thror, was thought to have been so proud of the accomplishment that he wanted to keep them instead. So, Thranduil, angered by this action, cut all ties with the dwarves.
1:20:26 Chi asks the question that people troll criticize the Lord of the rings/Hobbit movies over. 😂 “Why didn’t the Eagles fly them where they needed to go?” The answer is: the Eagles don’t interfere in the wars of Middle Earth. They’re not air taxis and are also a very proud race and even though it was never shown in the movies they were capable of speech and only help Gandalf as a favor for saving their Eagle chieftain before the events of The Hobbit. The Eagles also did not trust the other races of Middle Earth, particularly Men, who would shoot arrows at them for stealing livestock.
Having the Eagles, who are possibly the last of their kind, fly into Mordor would be a horrible idea. In a best case scenario, they would still be sacrificing their lives to destroy the ring, & in a worst case scenario, they would all die just to deliver it to Sauron. Having the Eagles just do a flyover Mordor makes about as much sense as sending Ents to attack the Black Gate. Like, it might work, but more likely they would be dying for nothing
@@SurvivorBri Yes, I would not want to be on the back of an eagle turing a snow storm or worse. In the first LOTR movie they point out that they need to be stealthy that's why there are only nine people in the fallowship who are all on food instead of horse back.
Small addition: Also the eagle who helps Gandalf to escape after Saruman's betrayal is the eagle chieftain himself who is just passing by. If I remember right him and the other eagles are send to the battle by the god Manwe himself so the heros ahd to earn that. Balin, the dwarf with the white beard, his grave was in Moria in Fellowship of the Ring, he was Gimlis cousin, who was killed by orcs. Also another one of the dwarves named Gloin is Gimlis father.
Now you will see the story of Frodo's uncle. Also the old dwarf with the white beard(Balin) was one of the casualties in Moria that Gimli cried for. And the red haired dwarf Gloin is Gimli's father. Also In nordic folklore trolls turn to stone when hit by sunlight. Which is why that happened.
7:10 "Is that, like, precious? Spoons?" In modern English (at least in the U.S.), the word "silverware" may be used to refer to any eating utensils. However, historically, the word was quite literal. Metal eating and serving utensils were often made from or coated with silver. Since silver is a precious metal, sets of those eating and serving utensils could be quite valuable, so the theft of all the spoons could be quite substantial! (There's a related term -- "born with a silver spoon in your mouth" -- which means someone was born into a wealthy family.)
"And I said to myself there is one who I could follow: there is one I could call, 'King.'" - That is the line that has stuck with me the most from this series.
So glad that you girls are continuing on with this movie series 😃 This is actually the prequel to the Lord of the Rings stories. Will definitely enjoy being here to watch it with you, see your reactions, and listen to your thoughts about it ❤❤
@@Catherine.Dorian. The thing with the food is a Jacksonism, one of many many things he greatly altered in Tolkien's narrative. In the books the food of the Grey Elves is exceptional, especially Elrond's table. Do you really think Bilbo would've stayed there all those years if the food was subpar?
40:59 It's explained better in the books, but there are two magical realms: Rivendell, maintained by the elf Elrond; and, Lothlorien, maintained by Galadriel. They each bear one of the three elven rings which gives them the power to maintain and sustain their realms in perfect beauty and sanctity without spoil from any evil influences. Think of the contrast shown in the influence that the tower of Dol Guldur has over its surroundings in Mirkwood, or, later, that the tower of Barad-dûr has over Mordor, to see the concept. 45:40 Before the Saxons were conquered by Charlemange and England was conquered by William and the Norse were converted to Catholicism, and the Latin alphabet made the standard in which all western European languages would be written, the northern Germans wrote their languages using a type of script called Runic. So, Tolkien created his own type of writing system for the Dwarves that he called Dwarf runes. And Moon Runes are a type of magical Dwarvish writing that can only be seen by the light of the moon and only at certain times.
As a leader, two things are important to Thorin, his Quest and the safety of his men. The presence of Bilbo threatens both of these. You have to admit that Bilbo is a bit of an idiot, first when he lets himself be captured by the Trolls and Thorin has to throw down his sword so that Bilbo won't be pulled apart and then when he falls over the edge of the cliff and Thorin has to risk his life to save him. Don't forget those two moments - it isn't all about Bilbo saving Thorin.
"The Hobbit" was a children's story that J.R.R. Tolkien wrote to entertain his kids before the start of World War II. The story just came to him because he wrote the first line of the book ""In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit" absentmindedly on a scrap of paper. He literally said the word hobbit just popped into his head and he thought what is a hobbit? What would a hobbit do? From that humble beginning he elaborated on what type of folk Hobbits were and introduced us to the polite, (mostly) cheerful, but secretly capable & adventurous Bilbo Baggins. He was able to bring in Dwarves, Elves and Orcs and other magical creatures/characters into the story. The fairly short book was a pretty big success when released. The film version has that childern's story plus a number of histories/scenes from the Appendices of "The Lord of the Rings" that made it possible to flesh it out into a trilogy. More films = More $$$. Tolkien had been writing a massive made up history about Middle Earth with Elves, Dwarves, Men, Orcs, etc. for many years starting at the end of World War I. He wrote this story mainly because he was busy inventing the languages/alphabets of the different races which fascinated him as a professor of Philology at Oxford. However, he hadn't thought of Hobbits until he wrote his successful children's story. In the 1950s, his publisher asked him if he had any other Hobbit stories, so Tolkien switched attention from his massive world building epic and created the more manageable high fantasy story of "The Lord of the Rings" which was set in the Third Age of Middle Earth. It's popularity started out somewhat slowly, but by the 1960s it became even more famous especially when paperback editions were published. Many students of the time wore buttons with the phrase "Frodo Lives" and loved discussing the books with their friends and re-reading them. Some even wrote Professor Tolkien which I bet cut into his writing/free time since he answered a lot of correspondence, being the gentleman he was. He never published his "Complete History of Middle Earth" before he died. His eldest son, Christopher took over all the many variations of the stories he had been writing, editing/re-writing since 1917 and edited together "The Silmarillion". That book covers the creation of of the world by Eru and his angels, the Valar. It spans the 1st - 3rd Ages (up to the point "The Lord of Rings" started). It is sort of a combination of a Myth and History book and you learn how the Elves were created first, then followed by the Dwarves and Men, and the rebellion of one of the Valar, Melkor, who is similar to Lucifer/Satan in the Bible, and the evil he (and later his lieutenant Sauron) brought and spread to the world.
Just remember Gimli, son of Gloin. Seven rings for the Dwarf lords...Seven dwarven kingdoms. A Necromancer is an evil wizard, one with powers over the dead.
5:42 It was not only because the dwarves kept the jewels for themselves it was also because Thranduil knew that a battle against a dragon of that size was almost impossible to win and would cost too many of his men's lives.

In this case, yes. In more broad case, it is a "Nordic Rune". I will try to explain it briefly here for anyone that is not familiar with this type of things. Nordic runes were similar to Alphabet to old Scandinavians (Northern Europeans) in early middle ages (and maybe even before). Think Vikings, but that is very simplified explanation :) In modern fantasy (and in Tolkien), runes are usually associated with dwarves, as is their language (Irish/Scottish/Nordic), mainly because of the Scandinavian mythology that had lot of Dwarven references in it (For example they made the leash for Fenris, or the Odin's spear Gungnir). In Middle Earth, runes are practically letters of Dwarven language. EDIT: Someone said it is elvish rune in Tolkien. It might be, I am not that knowledgeable, but the overall theme with Dwarves and runes still fits, both for Fantasy and Games.
In this case, I believe it was said in the book to be a rune meaning "A burglar for hire lives here", though it has been many years since I read it last, so I may misremember it.
The dwarves use runes for their writing. The letter that Gandalf puts on Bilbo's door is the letter "G" (G for Gandalf) In the books, there is a complete list of letters for the dwarven alphabet.
Tolkien was a linguist. The elves had a different set of symbols for their two languages. Black speech was based on elvish and can be seen on the One ring. Dwarves had their own alphabet for their language (which Tolkien based on Nordic runes)
After you finish watching the three Hobbit movies, you two absolutely MUST continue this with The Rings of Power show Season 1. Season 2 hasn't come out yet, so you'll be all caught up after that. The show is about the creation of the rings, including the One Ring that the dark lord forged. The contents are from the book The Silmarillion, which preceded The Hobbit book.
The eagles knew who to take because they're not just birds but thinking, talking creatures forming their own kingdom in Middle Earth, like the elves and dwarves, and they know dwarves from goblins/orcs. They have a king who is great friends with Gandalf, and in the book they hold conversations. They probably left this aspect of them out of the movies because big talking birds might have seemed silly. This also explains questions some people always ask about the eagles, like why they don't fly the dwarves all the way to the Lonely Mountain, and why they don't fly Frodo and the ring to Mount Doom. They're happy to help Gandalf out in an emergency, but they're not horses and don't just take orders. They let the dwarves stay in their high peaks and even gave them food so they could recuperate from their ordeal with the goblins, but that was the extent of their generosity. They would not risk their people flying dwarves cross-country, and of course if they flew to Mordor there would be no secrecy and they would have been shot down before they got halfway to Mount Doom.
one particular thing is that Wargs (the wolf-like creatures used by orcs as mounts) are very intelligent creatures. can speak the black language of Mordor as well as have their own language.

2:15 "immersed under the sea" there actually WAS an island between Middle Earth and the Undying Lands called Numenor that was pulled into the sea during the Second age when Sauron tricked the Numenorean king into attacking the Valar of the Undying Lands and as punishment they were destroyed and the island sunk into the sea. A handful who weren't deceived by Sauron were led to middle Earth by Elendil (Isildurs father) and established the kingdom of Gondor of which Aragorn is their descendant.

GREAT REACTION LADIES💕🌸
Munchies, "Oh, he has a, chicken hand."😂😂. You're a cute hobbit, hela.
Silverware is pretty but silver tarnishes and is a pain in the neck to keep shiny. I'm glad to use stainless steel instead!
@@ronbo11 There's a reason servants in wealthy households in period films and television are often seen polishing the silver!
"And I said to myself there is one who I could follow: there is one I could call, 'King.'" - That is the line that has stuck with me the most from this series.
So glad that you girls are continuing on with this movie series 😃 This is actually the prequel to the Lord of the Rings stories. Will definitely enjoy being here to watch it with you, see your reactions, and listen to your thoughts about it ❤❤
Necromancers are wizards that have Dominion over the dead.
You are no Hobbit Hella, you are an elven princess.
Hobbits have better food, don’t curse her with the elven food
@@Catherine.Dorian. The thing with the food is a Jacksonism, one of many many things he greatly altered in Tolkien's narrative. In the books the food of the Grey Elves is exceptional, especially Elrond's table. Do you really think Bilbo would've stayed there all those years if the food was subpar?
@@EugeneLorey rofl that’s a great point! Then yeah, elven princess is the answer of the food is good!
Hella calling the birds a tattle tale was hysterical 😂😂 27:03
"He has diabetes" The Goblin King probably does😂
"The Hobbit" was a children's story that J.R.R.
Love you guys, its been a great journey watching these with you
Very nice reaction! I enjoyed that cheers!
5:42 It was not only because the dwarves kept the jewels for themselves it was also because Thranduil knew that a battle against a dragon of that size was almost impossible to win and would cost too many of his men's lives.
Here's some more movies to do reactions to.
-The 40 Year Old Virgin
-Ace Ventura When Nature Calls
-American Pie (Unrated)
-Charlie's Angels (2000)
-Moana
-American Pie 2 (Unrated)
-Major Payne
-Dr Seuss How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
-Sonic The Hedgehog
-Iron Man
Don't forget the Cably Guy. They're gonna be awkward seeing Jim Carrey in a weird yet freaky comedy way, almost borderline dark comedy!
DOn't forget Cable Guy. Jim Carrey's dark comedy character will probably make them go "WTF, I can't believe this is the same funny man we love!"
Fun fact: This is the same Balin in this group from Balin's Tomb in the Fellowship of the Ring.
I've literally been brainwashed into calling our lovely wizard "Grandalf" bc of this channel instead because he basically is our grandpa lmao
Thank you for a great reaction to a wonderful series of movies, I look forward to the next ones!
Wow already starting out on our next adventure young Chi 💖 Hella 💕
I don't remember much from the first part so it would be fun to watch again thx.
🇬🇧🌸😻🇻🇳
24:41 Orcs called the dwarves scum... "You look really like scum!" - countered Hella.
39:05 An orc shouts, "The dwarf scum is over there."
"You scum, why you keep saying dwarf scum." - added Chi.
Such a pleasure to watch your reaction watching from Canada
The rune on the door is basically a signal for the dwarves that means "Hey this is the place to meet at and food"
Think Vikings, but that is very simplified explanation :)
In modern fantasy (and in Tolkien), runes are usually associated with dwarves, as is their language (Irish/Scottish/Nordic), mainly because of the Scandinavian mythology that had lot of Dwarven references in it (For example they made the leash for Fenris, or the Odin's spear Gungnir). In Middle Earth, runes are practically letters of Dwarven language.
EDIT: Someone said it is elvish rune in Tolkien. It might be, I am not that knowledgeable, but the overall theme with Dwarves and runes still fits, both for Fantasy and Games.
@johandark5736 Yeah I was gonna explain what Nordic rune it was but I got confused and forgot. Think it was the Fehu rune letter? Or Ansuz
In this case, I believe it was said in the book to be a rune meaning "A burglar for hire lives here", though it has been many years since I read it last, so I may misremember it.
The dwarves use runes for their writing. The letter that Gandalf puts on Bilbo's door is the letter "G" (G for Gandalf)
In the books, there is a complete list of letters for the dwarven alphabet.
Tolkien was a linguist. The elves had a different set of symbols for their two languages. Black speech was based on elvish and can be seen on the One ring. Dwarves had their own alphabet for their language (which Tolkien based on Nordic runes)
I clicked so fast when I saw they were continuing with these movies 😊 Awesome reaction vid!
"The eagles work part-time". There's a pearl in every single reaction video of yours :)) Thanks for the laughs!
Oh!! Yay!! Yay!! Movie Munchies is taking us on a new adventure! What a pleasant surprise!! This will be a ride!!
This is the first video I watched reactors watching The Hobbit extended version. Thank you, ladies
It was fun living in New Zealand during the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Also, you girls look stunning!
37:26 : not really a wolf, but a warg
Best morning for me ever! I was hoping you would move onto the hobbit next I love this!
clippers Hella " more head" 😅😂🤣
I just finished watching your other videos. You guys are always dressed so nicely!
Lord of the Rings Appendices, not the Silmarillion. Hence why it is struggling and making stuff up.
The mark on the door is a G for Gandalf in elvish.
1:19:12 The Great Eagles of Midde Earth aren't just animals. They're sentient beings, they actually speak in the books.
What a surprise to have Movie Munchies today. Thanks for making my day better.
57:32 The dwarves fall into a pit, and Hella does her best Admiral Akbar impression!
(Even though she hasn't seen Return of the Jedi yet)
Thanks for continuing on with The Hobbit movies. It gives you more of the Middle Earth world along with some backstories and character development
Hella is Hella beautiful
Another person used to be called king hobbit at their school
one particular thing is that Wargs (the wolf-like creatures used by orcs as mounts) are very intelligent creatures. can speak the black language of Mordor as well as have their own language.
Trilogy The Hobbit Extended Edition Of The Adventures of Bilbo Baggin:
(1) An Unexpected Journey Extended Edition
(2) The Desolation Of Smaug Extended Edition
(3) The Battle Five Armie Extended Edition
Keep smiling Hella! 💜
Hella, if you are a hobbit, please just let me be your favorite elf 🤣🤣🤣. Great reaction from both of you, as always. Greetings from Germany.
Great reaction, guys!
Thank you.
@1:02:45 Bilbo's sword Sting went dark bcos the goblin has just been killed by Gollum 😂. The sword glows blue when orcs or goblins are nearby
The mark that Gandalf left on Bilbo's door was the "G" rune, for Gandalf.
These are those three troll statues that Frodo runs across in the Lord of the Rings films. This sequence shows us how they came to be statues.
Throwing this movie recommendation out there because another comment made me think of it: The Great Mouse Detective
That movie was such a big part of my childhood ❤
2:15 "immersed under the sea" there actually WAS an island between Middle Earth and the Undying Lands called Numenor that was pulled into the sea during the Second age when Sauron tricked the Numenorean king into attacking the Valar of the Undying Lands and as punishment they were destroyed and the island sunk into the sea. A handful who weren't deceived by Sauron were led to middle Earth by Elendil (Isildurs father) and established the kingdom of Gondor of which Aragorn is their descendant.
50:43 by the way girls, Gendalf, Radagast, Saruman and other wizards, they are not humans, the belong to race caled Maiar, and Sauron also belong to this race, but he is more powerfull.
I love everyone ❤️
I like when Hella gets spicy talking about thorin just wait Hella ✌🏻🙌🏻 you will get thêm cay later 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🔥🥵
