Crochet Sandals Using Flip Flop Soles
Tired of poking holes in your flip flop soles? Then this will make you happy. This is a no sew Crochet Flip Flop tutorial! No offense but, I can't stand how the yarn rips thru the flop flop soles if done incorrectly. Don't worry we will crochet around the original Sandals flip flop strap. You will not need to lace up any straps for this pattern either. These crochet sandals are created just to slip on to your feet.
Materials 3 Options
Finger weight with 2.25 mm hook
or
Dk yarn with 2.50mm hook
or
Worsted weight 3.mm hook

Tara T I went out and bought a bunch of flip flops last year to make some of the sandals where you poke the holes in the sole. After doing one flip flop I realized I hated that method and didn’t even do the second shoe. lol So now I’m going to run upstairs and check my closet and find those extra flip flops I bought last year so I can get cracking on this pattern!! 😂😂

Crochet sandals remind me of my teen years. I tried to purchase some awhile back but they were so expensive in the shops in New Zealand. So now I'll be able to make my own. I've got my jandals ready. Looking forward to spending my Sunday relaxing doing this.

She seems sweet but as a total beginner, I found it too fast. I would have love it if, she could have stitched more slowly, more often ie not do 2 stitches very quickly then move on, and she zoomed in too. To be fair mind, I realise that we're not all beginners. I found even changing the yarn too fast. I can't wait to be as good as you all though. Xx

Great idea. I make a lot of sandals/boots with flip flops. I am going to try this with mercerized cotton and place elastic in that last single crochet row. I think this would make a great pair of beach sandals. Thx again.
I never thought to put elastic in the last row! that is genius. I'm going to try that. Make sure you chain 1 or two extra for the ankle since you are putting the elastic in & your using mercerized cotton.

I love your work. It looks hard to me though. The part where you joined the green thread and you turned the shoe confused me. I'm a beginner and I didn't get where, exactly you were stitching. It looked like you were going through, every second hole? I have ordered a full set for a beginner. It is to make a peach coloured cowl. That was the only colour option. The good thing is the lady that sells them, also has a video on you tube that goes through it all step by step. There is a pattern in the kit but I'm sure her video, will be a great help to me. There is a hook, darning needle and two balls of wool in the kit also. So they will come in handy again. I want to make a cerise cowl as it's my favourite colour. I subscribed to your channel by the way. There is another lady that I watch too. I forget her name too but she listened to her subscribers. They aked if she'd, kindly do a very,very slow video on the basic beginners stitch. I must look through my Google history to find that and re watch it. Like many others, I find most people go too fast but they already know, how to crochet!! They talk and stich too fast too!!! That was really disheartening to me. I just want to be like you and make pretty shoes, bags, clothes etc. Keep up the good work. If you haven't done soalready, would you consider also doing a very slow video, for beginners?

I like this video, the only thing i dont like is wearing plastic flip flops hurts the middle of my toe so i think i would wrap the yarn around the toe part somehow so its more confortable for me.
These sandals are super cute!!! I've made one so far and the top is too wide for my foot so just wondering if using less than 27 stitches in the beginning would make a difference?

i made one flip flop. I followed your directions exactly. same colors even. the back of the ankle was fanning out and looked really had. how did you keep it so nice?
It sound like you were accidentally adding an extra stitch at the end of your rows. When u use a small hook & yarn it becomes hard to see what you're working on. Use a stitch markers to help you see that last stitch better. I've been crocheting for 30 yrs & still accidentally stitches.
Love the designs. I can't wait to start crocheting flip flops. What size hook do you recommend for light cotton yarn? I can't use acrylic yarn due to being allergic to acrylic.
I give you 3 yarn & hook option in the video. if you are using a finger weight , I think i used a 2.35 hook

Looks very nice, but I have little patience to use fingering weight yarn, my fingers are too fat. Lol
lucky for you, I give the option of using fingering, Dk yarn or Worsted Weight yarn. You can use whatever is in your stash😀

I'm not sure. Each flip flop is different. I use my own foot as an my measurement & it is six inches from strap, around the heal, & back to strap
