Hey guys, Eric&Jamie are some of the most decent guys on UA-cam, and in the community, Eric said our displeasure with the ad is "point taken", they are good people and deserve kindness. To error is human. Best builders on the interweb hands down.
They are very decent people and that's why so many individuals and families watch them. I enjoy the building as well, but it's them as individuals that I enjoy. People love them, that's why when Jamie got hurt that the UA-cam community rallied and supported him. These are people that I wouldn't hesitate to invite to a Sunday after church dinner.....they were kind of family. When Arlo retired we didn't hesitate to send him off in style. So when the gambling ad showed up, it was such a huge disappointment, because I started to question the people I thought I "knew".
@@sweetpain2me I am not salty, you do realize the damage gambling does to not just the people addicted to gambling but how it will also ruin and break up families too. When a channel is oriented towards family viewing, parents and guardians watch PBB videos with their children, and don't want their children influenced by those adds. Having sponsors or adds associated with gambling goes totally against the PBB brand. The way my crew and I do it is we mark all the walls on the floor first. Then we lay out our top and bottom plate on the chalk line. After that we mark all the walls that will tie into that certain wall. We put the very top plate as we go and leave the space for the other walls that tie into that wall. No need to level one wall just to nail the walls together like they did if you mark where the other wall goes on the top/bottom plate.

With the standard bathroom width, been doing 60 1/2 inches for years. This is super beneficial. All you do is use 1× strapping or fir out the walls with plywood strips after the tub or shower base is installed, this almost guarantees you the straightest corners and cleanest job when installing substrates and tiles instead of the curls and flares you get in walls trying to overlap the fixtures flanges.
If your drywall guy cuts above the nailing flange for the tub, then fills the gap with hot mud before he tapes the drywall will come out perfect. We've been doing it that way for years, no more hump around the tubs!

I mean the stamps they use are made out of rubber. It's as straight as it can be, but at the end of the day it's just rubber. And if you've paid attention to Jamie at all you'd know that thing called cumulative error. It may have been said before, but happy to hear Jaime's explanations on the hows and whys of construction. I find it very interesting and always waiting for one of his jokes!
For the tub/drywall problem we hang drywall to the edge of the nailing flange, and then fill the gap in the flange with durabond and then flat tape and mud over that transition. Hope that makes sense! It works really well, and comes out flat.

I just love watching framing. When this series started I didn't think we'd ever get to it. As an Australian it is sometimes difficult to follow with the different terms used and as an example I asked a builder friend what they called the little pieces of wood which you called cripples and he said blocks of wood.
If you want to make the shoving of stud ends into the correct position easier just grab a clamp. Put the clamp fully down on the board from the top, then tighten it snug. After that, just push down on the clamp bar to torque the stud into place. I like to have at least one of the screws into the side that is in the correct orientation. the second screw is already started and once the stud is twisted into position, send the second screw home.
The stamped floors not being square with the walls seems like a bigger deal than you guys are making out. I’m sure he paid a lot of money for that. SMH
its not terrible looks like 2.5" over 25' or more which would be 5 degrees off. but at the same time its concrete with no radiant heat on an exposed basement its going to be like walking on an ice block in the winter. its not a livable space and just a basement small detail at the end of the day that probably won't be noticed unless pointed out.
Hey Erik, I have a monster size adjustable wrench. I used it on commercial toilettes. I also have started using this big adjustable wrench on twisting white wood curl like your door frame has. The big wrench was good tool money spent wisely.

Framed & built houses for 4 years.. this brings back nostalgia
you should talk about a California corner - it does have some advantages
You should make more adverts to be a channel member, much better place to put money and it directly supports you!
As always, entertaining and informative. Well done guys 👍
Excellent video. Very informative while still being entertaining. Thank you.
Other than the gambling ad, i enjoyed every minute of the video
Great series! You have a great crew!
All them years in service " chalkline " and Ray busts the string right off the bat.😂😂😂
Great video as always, but the ad was a bit of a disappointment - maybe rethink that one.
It wasn’t PBB that did it, blame the concreters.
@@jaredwright6758 If I was the homeowner, I'd be pissed. As a contractor, I'd have to have a conversation with those guys. Not ok in my book.
Great to see some sticks go up. Great video
Gambling sponsor? I’m not a prude but I’ve always enjoyed the content being refreshingly on a “higher” level.
Hey Erik, I have a monster size adjustable wrench. I used it on commercial toilettes. I also have started using this big adjustable wrench on twisting white wood curl like your door frame has. The big wrench was good tool money spent wisely.
I actually agree with Jason, his guest bedroom design idea is better!
36" wide doors are the way to go. Comes in really handy when trying to bring in appliances like a fridge!
Great work as usual guys 🔨
A Casino advertising? Can't believe you guys folded for that!
I guess the house always wins! And we all win free content twice a week. Also I might add that one of the biggest gambles in life is buying / building a house!
Erik and the team educating and sharing industry knowledge makes betting against the bank a little more even for everyone!
Love that all that concrete work is done!
Awesome video, i dont pay your bills, so you read ads from whoever does, ill still watch, anyways I have been enjoying the skits and the easter eggs during the ad, thanks,
that old school chalk line sure brings back memories.
Excellent video. Glad to see it coming together. Huge house, wow. Lots of lumber incoming. Looking forward to seeing the 16 foot door header. LVL? Glulam like Awesome Framers always use?
Blessings that this channel won’t take a sponsorship from another gambling company, that the Perkins Brothers will not feel it a necessity to accept another. Gambling is a problem and it’s built to entice people into it becoming an addiction.
So is usury. Usury ruins.
Can’t wait to see the finished product. Judging by the size of what we see so far, technically Brock will be able to host each one of your 1 Mio plus subscribers.
The benefit of the 2x8 wall there is that you can frame out an "art niche" or shelf area on one side and have it look inset into the wall.
Great progress but I’m with Jason on that closet size/orientation!!!
